(ONE MORE LEVEL, AND THIS WOULD BE A PIECE OF CAKE!)
The attack knocks Hera back, and Rain looks a little worried as the Torchic climbs to her fee, err, talons, and retaliates with another scratch.

((One more level, and you wouldn't be here. You'd be at the gym. ^_^))
This scratch got the Caterpie in the face, and she shrieked, falling back. It actually went pretty deep...there would be a scar when it healed over (the wound itself wasn't fatal, though). Her left eye also suffered, and she found that she couldn't see out of it. Whimpering, she fell to the ground, unconscious, as her body's natural healing process began.
To lighten the mood, a small figurine of Blue Eyes White Dragon popped into existence on top of Rain's head, bearing a note.
"You defeated a level 6 Caterpie. Your Torchic gains 1/4 of a level."

"Oops, that didn't go as well as I hoped," Rain says, and looks the figurine over with interest, as she tosses the pokeball.

The Pokeball rocked once, twice, three times, then pinged shut.
If Rain looked sideways, she'd see the caterpie's stats written in the dust of the road.
"Caterpie Gender: female Level: 6 Nickname: you choose Notes: she has a large scar across her face and is almost blind in her right eye Ability: Shield Dust: prevents additional effects of moves Attacks: Tackle, String Shot Personality: She hates a lot of things. First off, she hates Hera for giving her a huge scar and disability. Second, she hates Rain for ordering Hera to attack her. Third, she hates all fire types and humans by association. Fourth, she hates dragons because Rain likes them, and anything Rain likes can't be good. She doesn't talk at all now, and just follows Rain's orders because she feels she has to, and really, really, really wants to be a Butterfree. The only thing in the world she doesn't hate (and will never hate) is a male bagon she met when she was younger, and had a crush on. So she's slightly-kinda-sorta-but-not-really nice to Ruby, if only because she reminds her of him."

(Question, if Rain just caught her, then how can the Caterpie know that she likes dragons?)
"This is just wonderfull," Rain says, looking the stats over as she recalls Hera. "Best not to dwell on it," she mutters, and continues on her way.

((I guess that would be an eventual thing. That, and I hadn't thought of that. -_-;; But then again, this is the profile that stays up for the entire journey, so I guess it would have to take into account events that happen in the immediate future. Either that...or the caterpie has special psychic powerz. @_@))
A girl walked up to Rain. She was wearing a dark brown jacket, jeans, a t-shirt, and not-very-clean grey sneakers. Her bushy brown hair blew in the wind, getting in her face. Looking a little sheepish, she walked up to Rain.
"Hey there," she said in a nervous voice. "You're Rain, right? If you are, I have orders to give you this," in her hand was half a rare candy. "You're supposed to give it to Hera to get her to level 10. Arisa really wants a challenger..."
((I'm tired of nobody getting past the first route! RUIN, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE GO AND CHALLENGE ARISA! T_T))

"Thank you," Rain says, and lets Hera out again, giving her the half Rare Candy. "I'll be on my way then," she says, and lets Hera rest on her shoulder before heading into the next town, who's name escapes Ruin at the moment.

Rain walks back onto Route 1, her hands in her pockets as she sighs. I was always taught to keep on going, no matter what, I'll just need to train Hera up some more, and then I'll be able to take Arisa on, she thinks, and starts looking for pokemon.

The grass on the side of the road rustled, and a rattata burst forth, fighting with a zigzagoon. They rolled onto the path, and bumped smartly into Rain's legs breaking apart and snarling at one another, before turning on Rain.
<What do you think you're doing here, human?> the rattata growled. <Push off.>
His zigagoon rival sniggered. <Yeah. Here, I'll help!> the large, bristling pokemon rushed forward, and slammed into Rain's shins with a headbutt.
((You can choose where to fall ^^))

"What did I ever do to yo.. AHHHHH!" Rain starts, and falls over into the river, and while she barely misses the rocks, is quickly swept downstream as she tries to swim for shore, she manages to grab a hold of a branch, but she can't seem to pull herself up against the current.

Under the bank two curious eyes watched her struggle against the current for a while. Finally, when it seemed that no other real help was at hand a lily pad floated away from the grassy overhang. It moved down stream freely and easily as a normal plant, but when it reached behind Rain's flailing legs it dove.
Within seconds, the solid bulk of a lotad was pushing against one of Rain's feet, in order to give her a stable footing to boost herself back onto dry land.

"Huh?" Rains says, and then pulls herself up onto dry land after a minute. Her clothes and hair is dripping, but other than that she seems okay, as she checks to make sure her pokeballs are still there, she nods, and looks around for the Lotad who had helped her.

The lily pad floated to the surface, easily swimming against the strong current. The eyes and a beaky mouth appeared above the surface a moment later.
<You all right, miss?> the voice, although slightly deep, was bubbly, and had a feminine tone to it. <Nothing important washed away or anything? I could retrieve it if you like.>

"No, I'm fine, just a little shook up, everything seems to be here," Rain says. "Thank you."

<May I ask why you decided to take the swimming lesson, then?> the lotad inquired. <You, er, -- how should I put this -- don't seem particularly well prepared for taking a dip.>

"I was pushed in by two pokemon," Rain says, wringing (or however its spelled) out her hair.
(Well, at least the only thing she wears that's white is her coat.)

((Black shows up stains just as badly, unfortunately. Brown, dark grey, or dried-blood red are the best colors to disguise stains, just from the experience of a girl who falls into swamps while looking for beavers.))
<They dound like lovely people, I simply must meet them,> the lotad told Rain dryly.
The two pokemon in question were strolling down the path, and caught sight of Rain. The rattata smirked, and glanced slyly at the zigzagoon. <Tole you your headbutt wasn't strong enough to finish her.>
<Like to see you do better, ratty,> the zigzagoon growled at his partner in crime.
The lotad looked annoyed at the interuption. She grabbed a strand of grass, and hauled herself up on the bank. <You know, what you two bullies did was not nice at all.>
The rattata spared a glance for water type. <Is it just me, or is the sopping sissy being defended by a stupid soaker?>
<Nice alliteration,> the zigzagoon chuckled.

"You just took me by suprise that's all," Rain says, grabbing two pokeballs from her belt.
