Hmm, if we're not carefull, the bubbles will be lost in the sunlight, and we won't be able to stop them as easily, Rain thinks. "Hera, lets try a scratch attack."

((Ruin...the bubbles have to hit. Please write a sentence or something about the bubbles hitting Hera. You can strategize to make them hit LESS, but they have to hit. It's in the rules. ;-) ))
Lathor screamed as Hera's tiny (yet sharp) talons swiped at the front of his stomach. Luckily, his tough skin was able to hold up without retaining too much damage, even though it was a direct hit.
Luckily, though, the physical attack brought Hera closer to Lathor. Lathor grimaced, dove towards Hera again, and released another group of large bubbles.

(Okay, okay, new plan, or adaptation of a plan on another site..)
"Okay, new plan Hera, use scratch attack on the bubbles!" Rain commands, and Hera uses scratch on the bubbles as they get closer to her, which while it does some damage, lessens the effect.

((Oooh...smart! I hadn't thought of that! *gives Ruin a cookie* ))
Lathor frowned. Maybe this person was smarter than he anticipated...
At least, however, Hera hadn't attacked him. Taking in another breath, he released more bubbles. He figured that as long as Hera wasn't attacking him, he could wittle down her health with the small amount of damage she took from blocking his attacks.
Because that Scratch had hurt.

Unfortunately for him, Hera had moved close enough, not only could she attack the next wave, but she could attack the Poliwag again without giving him time to launch another attack.
(Thanks. *eats cookie*)

Lathor was caught in the stomach again...just as he was preparing another bubble attack. Unfortunately for him, it took a lot out of him, and he realized he was a way lower level than his opponent. It also caused him to choke on his own bubble attack.
Fortunately for him, the attack caused him to spit up a large amount of water that would have normally taken air and become bubbles, causing a premature Water Gun to tumble out of his mouth towards the Torchic.

The water gun hits Hera, and she's knocked back, but not nearly enough to beat her because of the level difference. "Lets try this again!" Rain says, and Hera goes in for a scratch attack.

Lathor screams as the Scratch throws him back, but it didn't knock him out. He'd sort-of-suspected Hera'd do the same thing, and began moving backwards to minimize the damage.
"<Another bubble!>" He took in another deep breath, and blew another stream of bubbles.
((*Yawn* Sometimes I wish there was more variety in offensive attacks for low-level Pokemon. -_- ))

(And sometimes I wish that Bush would be out of office right now, but I doubt that would happen for another year or two.)
Rain nods, and Hera uses scratch on the bubbles, and uses growl.

((Erm, I think it says in the rules that you can't use two attacks in a row. This isn't, unfortunately, a Pokemon Mystery Dungeon RP...though that might be fun *it is* ))

(Fine, ignore the growl attack.)

Lathor, luckily, still was standing after the n'th scratch attack.
"<Foolish mortal,>" he wheezed. "<Can't you make...this battle...more interesting?>"
He took a deep breath, coughed, and blew out a (slightly weaker) stream of bubbles, hoping to hit Hera's face, or her eyes, or something that would hurt the stupid chicken.

Hera uses scratch on the bubble attack, and keeps going for the Poliwag.
(I'm really considering not even bothering to cath this one.)

Finally, the Poliwag keeled over with one last cry of, "foolish...mor...tal!" And was unconscious (finally).
A brick suddenly landed in front of Ruin, wrapped in a piece of white cloth with berry juice stains. The stains formed words, and the words said, "The strane Poliwag is now unconscious. Your severely less strange Torchic, therefore, gains 1/4 a level, since the Poliwag in question was of level 5. Now leave, before he wakes up."

Rain nods, recalls Hera, and gets the heck out of there before the annoying Poliwag wakes up.

Right away, a Caterpie appeared.
"<We battle,>" she ordered. "<We battle now."
And, just to show she meant it, she shot some sticky string into Rain's face.

"And I used to wonder why some girls hate bug pokemon," Rain mutters. "Go Hera!" She says, letting out her Torchic.
(One more level, and this would've been easier.)

"<Fine,>" the Caterpie stated. "<I attack first.>"
She then rushed forward, her body moving up and down as she fast-inched towards the fire chick. Lowering her head, she aimed for a Tackle at Hera's little spindle-legs, since frankly, she wasn't tall enough to reach anything else. She figured she could at least knock the oh-so-powerful fire type off her feet first.

Rain grins. "Hera, use scratch!" she commands, just as the Caterpie gets close enough.

((Ruin, your Torchic has to get it. I'm going to assume it got hit, just to keep things moving.))
The Caterpie winced as Hera's talons ripped some of her exoskeleton on her side. Shaking her head, trying to get her focus back, she used a similar tactic.
She took a few preparation steps, reached a point where she could move steadily even with the pain, and launched herself at Hera's stomach, going for the solar plexus.
