Lawrance headed out of the town into Route 2, on his way to the next gym.
"<Onward to victory!>" shouted Bouncy.
"<To the path ahead!>" shouted Kooky.
"To the next city and the next step in becoming the world's greatest Gym Leader!" shouted Law.
(Writer's block... Yay...)

A yanma buzzed over to Law.
"<You want to become a gym leader?>" He asked, giving him the once-over. "<What type? You've got three different types...>"

"Bug." said Lawrance. "It's a completely new idea that's never been done before in Jhoto."

He raised a non-existent eyebrow. "<You're...being sarcastic...right? Oh, and how do you feel about double battles?>"
Before anything else could happen, a male Nidoran lunged at Kooky, while a female one rolled over to scamper towards Bouncy.
"<Get away from our territoryyyyy!>" They screamed together in perfect unison.
The yanma sighed. "<They get kind of territorial...>"

Kooky was knocked out of the sky by the male Nidoran.
"I can see that..." said Law. "Bouncy, Return on the male, Kooky, Poison Powder!"
Bouncy charged at the male Nidoran while Kooky sprayed a dark purple powder toward the two.
"So..." said Law, turning his attention to the Yanma. "They crazy like everything else here, or just territorial?"

The male Nidoran gave an "oof," and was knocked into his girlfriend. Luckily for them, the powder didn't affect them, as they were immune to poison.
The yanma looked lazily toward Law. "<Oh, we have plenty of crazy Pokemon. When you have humans walking up to you and challenging you out of the blue, walking into your homes, and stealing your lunch, you get a little crazy. But we have some perfectly same Pokemon here, too...I like to think I have an air of normality about me.>"
Meanwhile, each Nidoran tried to Tackle their respective targets, and Ame got hit with Writer's Block.

Bouncy and Kooky were both hit. The two regained their previous spots.
"Bouncy, Sing! Kooky, Confusion on the male Nidoran!" commanded Law.
Bouncy began to sing her song as Kooky shot the familiar beam at the male Nidoran.
"Say, would you happen to be in need of a trainer?" asked Law as he turned his attention to the Yanma again.

The male Nidoran, having a type disadvantage, promptly slipped unconscious, while his girlfriend fell asleep.
"<They should train more if they want to attack random intruders,>" mused the Yanma. He then turned to Lawrence. "<I hadn't thought about it, really. I don't know if I'm the battling type. Plus, if you have three Group 1 Pokemon, you can only catch one more. I studied the system from a booklet some random guy dropped...you can only carry four Group 1 Pokemon with you at once, since you need one Group 2 and one Group 3 Pokemon with you as well. And you'd probably want a water or grass type to deal with Matthew's ground-types.>"

"Yeah, but bug-types rule." he said, before turning his attention to the battle. "Kooky, Confusion!"
He tossed a ball at the male Nidoran.
(I assume if I catch the female Nido she goes to my PC?)

((You have one more space on your PC...so if you catch her, she stays with you, and anything ELSE you catch goes to the PC.))
Aaaaand, the female Nidoran also went down.
The Yanma stared at Lawrence. "<Yeah...bugs are cool, but so many people think dragons are better...I say they're stupid.>" He looked down at the unconscious Nidoran. "<Are you planning on catching her? I think she and the other Nidoran are seeing each other...it would be cruel to separate them.>"
Meanwhile, Lawrence's Pokedex displayed a message stating that since Bouncy and Kooky took part in defeating two level 15 Pokemon, they each gained 2 1/2 levels, bringing them both up to level 16.
((Because non-integer levels are evil. X3 ))

((-_-;;; I didn't see that.))
Both balls hit their target, the first hanging in the air to hit at the same time as the other. They rocked three times, then dinged shut...then promptly disappeared.
"<I guess the machine got overloaded, and couldn't tell which hit first,>" mused the yanma.
Lawrence's Pokedex flashed, and displayed the stats for the female Nidoran. They were:
Nidoran Level: 15 Group: 2 Gender: Female Nickname: whatever you want Ability: Poison Point: opponent has 1/4 chance of being poisoned on contact Attacks: Growl, Scratch, Tail Whip, Double Kick Personality: Territorial, loyal, and a bit violent. She kicks people a lot...even her boyfriend, sometimes, though she loves him dearly. She is loyal, though, and when she's in a good mood, she's very nice and helpful to her teammates...unless they insult her boyfriend or take her away from him. Then she kills them. She also loves to battle, since then she can beat others up without getting yelled at (necessarily).
Then that screen was replaced with one saying the stats for her boyfriend. They were:
Nidoran Level: 15 Group: 2 Gender: Male Nickname: whatever you want Ability: Poison Point: opponent has 1/4 chance of being poisoned on contact Attacks: Leer, Peck, Focus Energy, Double Kick Personality: Violent only when his girlfriend is angry at somebody. Usually he's pretty layed back and good-natured. Unless somebody says something to anger his girlfriend or split them up...then he turns the violence level on high. He is okay with battling, but really prefers sightseeing and spending time with his girlfriend.

"So... Shall we fight?" he asked the Yanma.

"<Wha?>" Yanma asked, a little bewildered. "<I don't like fighting much...I always get hurt. It's no fun...I'd much rather travel. I like traveling, and learning about new places more than fighting...>" He buzzed away a little. Why'd he come up to a trainer again?

"Well, I'm on my way to the Chelzin Region..." he said. "It was just discovered about a year ago... Let me catch you and you'll get to see it all."

"<Oh...Chelzin?>" He asked, his eyes glittering. "<I've never heard of that one...okay, sure.>" He paused. "<Wait a minute...how do I know you're not some sort of Pokemon abuser? I don't want to sign myself up for something without checking the facts...and no, I don't want to battle you for it!>"
He paused, and looked down the route. "<You have a ways ahead of you. How about I accompany you to Iikagen City, and at the end of this route, I tell you if I want to be captured or now. I guess I'll have to battle...but oh well, it'll give me a feel for how you treat your Pokemon."
Yanma glanced at Lawrence. "<How does that sound? I'm level 17, by the way.>"
((And Yanma won't count as one of Lawrence's Pokemon, so he can still catch another water type for the gym, since Bouncy's normal attacks won't do quite as much, and Kooky would have a hard time with the rock-types.))

"You don't have to battle if you don't want to, actually." he said. "It'd be nice to have some sane company, though."
"<Hey!>" shouted both Bouncy and Kooky.
"You're overly friendly, she's afraid of puddles." said Law.
"<Oh yeah...>" said Bouncy.
"<Completely spaced on that...>" commented Kooky.

Yanma nodded, and followed along as Lawrence entered the mucky part of the swamp. "<Sure is humid today,>" he mused...
Before a Venonat appeared, and lunged at him.
"<AAAH!>" He shrieked, trying to fly away, but the stupid bug wouldn't let up! "<OW!>" Came a yell from the dragonfly as he was hit with some sort of Tackle.
Lawrence's Pokemon beeped, and the screen switched to an abbreviated stat list. "Yanma," it read. "Level: 17. Attacks: Tackle, Foresight, Quick Attack, Double Team.>"
((That's actually a nice moveset. I used one named Haruna a lot in Pokemon Mystery Dungeon. *nod* I also RPed with one a long time ago. So Yanma = coolest Pokemon on earth. *Persian'd*))

"Yanma, I know I said you wouldn't have to fight if you didn't want to, but looks like we don't have a choice... Quick Attack!" he commanded.
(I'm in the dungeon after the Xatu mission in Red.)

((W007. I finished the plot of Blue awhile ago, since I was bedridden with nothing else to do...))
"<Right!>"
With astonishing speed, the dragonfly charged into the venonat, knocking the bug over. When the bug retaliated, Yanma merely bopped him away with his tail, minimizing the damage. Without waiting for more orders from Lawrence, the two continued until the venonat was unconscious and the Yanma was barely breathing heavily.
"<That wasn't...so bad,>" the bug quipped.
Lawrence's Pokedex stated that Yanma had beaten a level 17 venonat, raising him to level 18. It also stated that somewhere, a girl in California was being lazy, and that was why the battle was so short.
((Bleh...))
