Tommy was excited. So he skipped. Because that's what you do when the excitement threatens to overwhelm. His pack jingled ightly on his back, indicating that he wasn't careying anything heavy, yet.
He was going to get his first pokemon. Joy! Well, not his first, but his caterpie were at home in Viridian under a heat lamp. They weren't interested in being anything but caterpie. Now he was going to get a great and powerful pokemon. Perhaps a weedle.
When he got to the lab he read the sign outside the gate, and his face fell. No more weedle? Oh well, perhaps he should just go by personality then. Tommy searched the list and then picked the next pokemon that he thought loked buggy enough for him. It was billed as "Loyal" which was good, he did wonder, though, why there were little stars all around the name. However, he could ask the professor after he knocked.
Tommy proceeded to do so.

The professor who would eventually be asked came out rather quickly, almost slamming Tommy's head with the door.
"I DON'T WANT ANYMORE COOKIES YOU LITTLE-oh!" Suddenly, he realized that the person who knocked was not, in fact, a small girl (or two) in a strange little uniform carrying boxes of rather unhealthy (yet addicting) cookies, but a not-uniform-wearing boy. His expression changed dramatically from one of anger to one of concern, and he ushered the almost-injured almost-trainer inside. "I apologize, I apologize. You aren't hurt, are you? No, you don't seem to be. Good, good..."
Once the two were inside, he glanced a little closer at the eyes of the new trainer. "Hmm...your eyes look fine...no obvious signs of a concussion or worse..."
Standing up, he smiled a little. "So, boy, can I interest you in a Pokemon? That was why you came, eh?"

"Yes!" Tommy struck his hands together and grinned. "And I know excatly what I want. I want the--" he stopped, realizing that he couldn't pronounce the name he had seen posted. However, improvisation was key in every performer's make-up, and Tommy didn't want to sound like an utter dork.
"Um, sort of bug eyed one that was grey-purple with brown pant-like things, and the little projections on his head. The tie-row-goo (in case you're wondering, he's trying to say tyrogue. Slight dyslexia there). It had stars around the name," Tommy felt that his attempt not to sound like an utter dork had failed miserably.
((BTW, normally I don't like starting with rare pokemon, but I know in Delmara Tyrogue was the rare that NO ONE wanted. Since then I've always felt sorry for them, and wanted to start with the unloved fighters. ^^))

((S'okay. Tyrogue is cool. And Hitmontop pwnz with his funny leg-kick-thingy. ^_^ By the way...would Tommy like a surprise Pokemon as well? X3))
"Tyrogue?" The professor asked tiredly. "That one...that one's very rare, though!" He whined. "Can't I interest you in something else? How about Torchic? Everybody likes a good Blaziken!" He laughed nervously.
In the background, Haru woke up, and started hissing about the professor being a cheapskate. However, in an attempt to not wake up Hana, he didn't hiss loudly enough for the professor to hear.

((Nope, thanks ^^. Save it for somene who really needs the bribing. <Feels embarassed by so much love>))
"Oh, really? Was that what the stars around the sign were for?" Tommy asked. "I'm really interested in it though. It just looks so, so strange," the boy grinned. "Y'see, strange is good. Yep. It's good to be unique, and special. That's why I'd like it. Tyrogue," he grinned as he said this properly, "must be special. And so I'd like it. Because it is special."

((Aw...I wanted to give out an egg, though...>_< Oh! Should I give you the Porygon now? So it would be in the story?))
"You like...strange things, huh?" The professor asked, a thoughtful expression on his face. "Hmm...can you tell me how you would raise the Tyrogue? They are classified as baby Pokemon, after all. They sometimes can get violent without knowing what they're doing. How would you raise it to be not only a well-trained fighter, but a nice, mature adult Pokemon when it evolves?"
Haru rolled his large yellow eyes in the background. His trainer shouldn't be talking about liking strange things...HE was strange.

((Actually giving me the proygon here would make up for having to explain why such a non-biological pokemon was following Tommy ^^. Porygon are hard to explain away as "Oh, I saw you on the route and thought that you were interesting/I wanted to play a trick on you >X3))
Seeing as this description of Tyrogue fit Tommy to a "t," the boy was about to fall into love with the pokemon he had never heard of until today. It would be so cool to have a friend who was exactly like him! This would be the coolest journey ever. This --
He was brought up sort by the question. Tommy gulped. This is was territory that his father was supposed to know about. And why on earth were they asking him questions?
"Well, um, i suppose te old thing of reward good behavior and punish bad behavior would work," Tommy tried to sound responible and mature. "But at the first offense I would sit the tyrogue down and tell them why it was wrong to do what they did. Because it's really kinda confusing if someone is yelling at you and taking away toys for what seems like no reason."

"Interesting way of dealing with him," Professor Cherry mused. "Now then, do you actually care about which Pokemon Tyrogue evolves into? Are you going to train him in one specific way, or would you not care about which of the three he evolves into, and treat him the same way if you get Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop?"
The professor leaning absentmindedly against one of the shelves. However, this shelf had a slight structural problem, causing it to wobble as he applied the sideways pressure. One of the non-starter Pokeballs rolled off, and hit the floor (but didn't open). It continued to roll over to behind a corner, where nobody could see it.
Then it opened, but still stayed out of sight.

"Wow! Tyrogue evolve?" Tommy looked amazed. "This pokemon is sounding better and better. Er, do you want me to pick that up there for you?" He asked, looking around to see if he could find the pokeball on the floor.

"Pick what up?" Professor Cherry asked, confused. "Did I drop something?"
However, if Tommy really wanted to find not only the dropped Pokeball, but what was inside it, he would fail miserably. The Pokeball itself had rolled neatly behind one of the many desks sagging from far too many computers, but the contents had already let itself out and disappeared.
Glancing around the room lazily for a couple seconds, the professor shook his grey-haired head. "Nevermind that. Now, young man, if you're going to want to train a Tyrogue, I want you to know more about what to expect." He stepped around a pile of papers over to a slightly-dusty bookshelf, and brushed his hand along the many spines, muttering to himself. "Ahhh...here we are!" With that, he withdrew one of the newer-looking books from the shelf, resulting in all the books to the left of it almost falling over.
Then we walked over to Tommy, and held out the book. "This is for you, young man. I like your spirit, but I don't like your lack of knowledge about your chosen Pokemon. This book, simply titled, "The Tyrogue Family," was published last year by one of the leading experts in Tyrogue, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, and Hitmontop. Don't worry, the reading level is not too high, but it has a lot of information. I will give you my Tyrogue on the condition that you agree to read this book during your travels, and become more knowledgeable about who you are training."
Meanwhile, two invisible eyes peered out at the happenings, interested in what was going on.

Tomy looked up from his hands and knees, and took the book. He glanced at the cover of the book, and tried not to gulp too visibly. It looked really thick. He hoped that was because there were a lot of pictures crammed in there.
"Well, thank you, professor, sir! I shall do my best to learn more about Tyrogue. And the pest way to learn is from experience, don't you think?" Tommy grinned, deciding to give up his search for the thing that had made that dropping noise. It was too cluttered in here to find it!

"Okay, here is the Pokeball for Ty-" "<WAHAHAHAH!>" A computery voice laughed as something landed on Thomas' head. "<Okay, prof, I'm goin' with this guy too! Now hand over that other Pokemon so we can leave!>" The professor glared at the shiny Porygon. "Sentouki! What are you doing?" "<Goin' with this guy. He's funny. Now hand over the other thingy and let us leave! I wanna set my Dragon Claw loose on some unsuspecting Pidgey!>" It giggled insanely. ((Did I get Sentouki right? ?))

((Heheheheheh. Aye yup ^^. Well, mayby not the giggles. But everything else.))
Thomas tried to look up, and see what was on his head. However, this sort of didn't work, as it is impossible to see the top of your own head without a mirror. So he continued looking up and up and up, until he fell over backwards and crashed into the ground.
"Owie. Er, what's a Sentouki?"

"<A Sentouki? There is no 'a'...I am Sentouki! The one and only, and ya better believe it!>" Sentouki roared from atop Thomas' head.
"Sentouki, get off of that boy's head," the professor pleaded weakly. "He's already getting a Tyrogue," he mumbled gesturing to the Pokeball on top of the rest of the things all new trainers were given.
Sentouki made a sound halfway between a "hmph" and a "beep." "<Who cares? I don't. I'm goin' with him...he's all weird, and you never let me beat up on those stupid Poochyena that're always runin' around!>"
"Because they go to trainers," the professor mumbled.

Tommy stood very still as the porygon rested on his head. He could feel the crackle of static electricity running through his hair. This. Was. So. COOL!
Execpt: "You beat up starter pokemon?" Tommy asked, slightly worried. He wasn't an expert he knew, but that kind of behavior boded ill for other pokemon that he might catch, didn't it?

Sentouki grinned evilly (or however the Mew those things show facial expressions). "<Well...sometimes. But only when they're being REALLY annoying.>"
The Professor held up his hands in a reluctant manner. "Fine, Sentouki, you can be his Group 3 starter." He then added a soft, "<at least it'll get you out of my lab.>"
"<What was that?>
"Nothing, nothing." Professor Cherry waved his right hand absentmindedly. "Now then, Tommy, what Pokemon did you say you wanted as your Group 1 starter? Was it...oh, Tyrogue..." He paused, scratching his chin. "We actually just took that one off of the Group 1 list, it comes as a Group 3 usually, now. But since you came in right as we were doing it...I think I have a level five one left."
He retreated back into one of the cluttered rooms, and came out ages later with a red Pokeball. "Here we are, a Group 1 Tyrogue. Would you like to meet him first?"

"Of course," Tommy said, certainty written on his features.
This was the best day of his life. Not that he hadn't had many amazing days, life was kind to this optimist, but today was the best so far. Tomorrow would probably be even better, of course. He had a strange Porygon on his head, and he was about to meet what he was sure would be the most awesome pokemon in existance.

The old man dropped the Pokeball, and a strange-looking purple-and-brown Pokemon popped into existance. He looked around, a little nervously. "<Uh...hello?>" He asked, peering up at Tommy, uncertainty written all over his face.
The professor knelt next to the fighting-type, smiling warmly. "This is Tommy, and he wants to be your trainer," he explained kindly.
The Tyrogue brightened considerably. "<Really? Okay, Tommy! Pick me, 'cause I'll be the best Pokemon I can be!>" He punched the air excitedly. "<Let's go travel and train!>"

((Do I control Sentouki yet? Just say no, and I shall rewrite post.))
Tommy nodded enthusiastically, causing the virtual reality pokemon on his head to slip. Sentouki hung in the air for a few seconds, looking Wile E. Coyote-esque, and then fell to the tiled floor. At the last second he wiggled his side bars, and called out "Stop!" He stopped, floating an inch off the ground, before zooming right in front of the tyrogue.
"Now just wait one minute! Who are you, why are you here, and how do you explain your activities on the night in question? Well? Well? You are involved in a serious investigation here, pardner! Opps. Slipped into Western for a bit there, didn't I?"
Tommy just blinked. "Uh, this is Sentouki."

((Nope, you controlling Sentouki is fine. It's actually better...I couldn't get the hang of controlling him/it. >_< ))
The Tyrogue looked happy as he ran over to his new trainer, punching the air in joy.
The Professor nodded, then waved his hand towards a table. "Now then, before I give you your package, I need you to choose which color Pokedex you want. As you can see, we have a large selection, though the standard red is still our most popular color. We have red, orange, yellow, green, blue, purple, black, grey, white, and brown."
