Kailee stood at the entrance to route one.
It didn't seem too bad. Nothing had popped out of thin air and attacked her so far. This first part of the jeorney might even be bearable.
Of course, she hadn't even met her starter pokemon yet. Depending on him, everything could change. She sighed, exasperated. And it had only been one day!
She reached into her bag, pulling out three three ping-pong ball sized objects. She stared at them a moment, wishing she could just forget about them. But it was better if she just got it over with now. She pressed the buttons on all three, and they enlarged in her hands. So much so that one bounced to the ground, and opened up by itself.
Surprised, the new trainer jumped back at the flash of red light, causing her to drop the two other pokeballs and open them as well.
The first that appeared was the sentret she'd picked out at the lab. He blinked a few times, and stretched his pudgy arms. Oh, it felt good to be out of that cramped space... He then noticed his trainer.
And grinned. A girl trainer. Lucky day- this could be fun. <Hey there, sweety.> He chortled.
The second pokemondidn't seem affected at all by his sudden release, or the bright sun in the sky. He was watching Kailee, or more staring at her. Not warily or in intrest, but blankly. This must be the unfortunate eevee. Kailee stared back nervously.
The last, a confident-looking zangoose. When she first appeared from her ball, she was tensed, ready for battle. It was then she realised that there was no opponent in sight. Only a human. Her trainer.
Glancing her over, the ferret pokemon sighed. <Not much, but you'll do, I suppose. Don't expect me to do anything for you- I'm just here to get stronger.>
The girl looked from sentret, to eeve, to zangoose, and back to sentret. Finally, she replied with a- "Don't call me sweety." And her hands on her hips. This was gonna be a tough group. But she could handle it. After all, she was from the feilds family. Nothing could go wrong. She cleared her throat, very buisness-like.
"Anyway. I'm Kailee, your new trainer. And you will treat me as such. You're gonna have to listen to me, do as I say, and things will be a whole lot easier for the rest of us."
Blink, blink. Stare.
<Listen, honey, can we start now?>
The girl glared back at the sentret. Clearly they were all bent on annoying her to death. "We will when you stop calling me names."
<Can I call you... doll?>
"No, no, no!" The girl stamped her foot in aggitation, resulting in getting her nice shoes all dusty.
<Okay then... babe? Yeah, I like the sound a' that, babe.>
The trainer opened her mouth to reply, and decided to give up. It was useless. Instead, she took out the eevee's and zangoose's pokeballs, to withdraw them. He was still staring at her. She was picking her nails with a bored expression.
In another flash of light, the two dissapeared into their respective capsules, and were returned to the bag. She'd get to naming them later. The sentret left dashed up to Kailee, swinging himself up onto her arm, and climbed up to her head. He wrapped his tail around her neck like a fashionable scarf.
<So, I'll be doing some training today, huh?>
"Yeah. Now shut up."

While the human and pokemon talked, a bug watched from the trees. She thought this one was a female human, though it was hard to tell. Humans were hard to tell apart, gender wise, and the age of humans that usually wandered around didn't make it any easier. However, this human did have a lot of normal types. That usually meant this human was afraid of bugs.
The little green worm began inching down the trunk of her tree. She had a slight imp of the perverse, and loved to scare human trainers. She knew it was wrong, but the caterpie loved to see them jump. Female humans, especially, tended to jump high.
She inched through the grass, before hitting on the dirt of the path, and coming up behind Kailee's shoes. <Boo!>

"Gyah!" Kailee gasped, and when she turned to face her attacker, she paused. There was nobody there. She looked down at her feet, and then she shrieked. "Yaaaaaah!"
"Nasty worm," The trainer growled, once she regained her breath. She lifted a foot to kick at the caterpie, when she was interrupted by her sentret's tugging of a loose hair on her head. <Listen, why don't I do the battling? We wouldn't want to mess up your pretty shoes.>
Before the girl could respond, her pokemon jumped off his perch, landing in front of the caterpie. <If you're looking for a battle, you've just got one.> He sneered. Suddenly he bounced into the air, and landed balancing on his thick tail, now twice the hight he was a moment ago. He looked towards his trainer expectantly.
But she didn't get it. Was she supposed to do something? She gave him a weird look. "Whatt're ya looking at me for? Attack her, or something. "
<Well, I'm gonna need better instructions then that, babe.>

The wild caterpie was too busy laughing at making the human yell to really notice the sentret at first. When she did, all that really happened was another burst of ill-restrained giggles. Fancy little fluff balls were fun to torment, too. Most hated getting their fur mussed. Mammalian vanity, but there it was. Certainly, it was a dislike that she loved to exploit.
<Hya!> The caterpite pumped her tail up into the air, and down once more, like a flag waving the start of a race, spraying the sentret with sticky String Shot. He'd look much more fun made into a ball of cobweb, anyway.

While his attention was still on his trainer, the sentret hadn't expected the caterpie to attack. He was supposed to attack first, wasn't he? Or maybe not... he hadn't done that much battling at the lab, he was expecting his trainer to back him up in a situation like this. Apparently not. Now he found himself all tangled up, the sticky tread restriting the movements of his arms, feet, and tail.
<Hey, no fair!> He squealed, attempting to free himself. But the thread held tight, surprisingly. <We weren't ready!>
Wihle her pokemon struggled, Kailee finally figured out what he'd meant when he said he'd need better instructions. She could remember the names of only two of his moves, but that would be enough for now.
"Defense curl, Sentret." She sighed, looking bored now. She just wanted to get this over with.
Her pokemon obeyed, curling up into a ball, to hide his face and belly. His muscles stiffened, and once he'd uncurled himself, his defence was now hightened.

<Oh poo,> the caterpie grimaced. She had hoped for more of a reaction than "unfair." She was out to have fun, not get in an argument. Couldn't they see that? And the sentret had the nerve to curl into a ball, and ignore her. Ignore her! Well really, wasn't she startling enough?
The green bug glared that the sentret once he uncurled, and spat a glob of stringshot right at the huge target ring on his stomach. If it hit where she had aimed, he wouldn't be able to use the curly move again, and ignore her. That was just rude, to ignore people in battle.

<Geh... gross...>
The sentret picked at the glob of string stuck right in the middle of his belly, his paw nearly getting stuck to it. <It looks like I won't be using defense curl anytime soon... I hope the trainer does somthing helpfull this time.>
"Okay then, this time, use scratch." Commanded Kailee. She still seemed unaffected by the fact her pokemon was turning into a living yarn ball.
Sentret lunged at his opponent, (Or, as best he could wrapped up in glue,) and struck at the caterpie with with a clawed paw. <I'll show you what real battling is... and what happens when you mess up my fur!>

<Touuuuuuuuh-chee,> the caterpie mocked, before yelping.
The scratches cut into her body, making her want to curl in a ball from the eye watering pain. This wasn't how it was supposed to go. They should have feared her and been jumping around! Well, okay, the sentret technically was jumping. He just had been jumping on top of her.
She groaned, incing backwards as though she was about to flee, but really she was fuming. The bug pokemon did not like being thwarted. Instead she suddenly tried to run forward in a Tackle. It was just hard to run when your mode of locomotion was the quick-inch.

Luckily, the defense curl from earlier did it's job.
Once sentret had been hit, he knew that the caterpie's attack felt less harmfull than it should have been. He puffed up his chest proudly, ignoring the fact he'd still lost some of his battling energy from the blow.
<Hah! You call that an attack? It was a big mistake, asking for this battle!> He smirked, then laughed. Hey, this was much easier than he thought it would be. He awaited more instructions from his trainer.
"Alright, I think another scratch should do it." Kailee was about as confident as her new pokemon. She had no doubt that this battle was in the bag. In fact, she was almost enjoying herself. As long as she didn't have to do anything but yell out stuff. It seemed her pokemon was enjoying himself too. (which really didn't make sense, as he was being attacked by a weird, bug-eyed worm.)
The sentret, once again, jumped at the caterpie, his claws aimed for the top of it's head, at the hard exoskeleton. He just hoped he wouldn't have to suffer more sticky thread- he was already fed up with his slow movement.

The caterpie felt the scrape of the blunt claws brush her sensitive antenna and continue over her face, with its large eyes, before pulling out above her mouth nub. The sentret had hit all of the really sensitive areas of a caterpie's body, and it brought tears of pain to the caterpies's eyes. She whimpered, backing away.
Okay, perhaps she over estimate the fun she could have had. Still that was the price you had to pay. Maybe if she sprayed the sentret with enough sting, she could inch away, and live to laugh another day. She reared back, and sprayed him with another String Shot.

<Gahaha!> The sentret laughed, feeling no sympathy for the bug. He rolled back up onto his tail, still sneering down at her.
<You know, there's still time to plead for mercy,> He giggled. <But it's not as if it'll work, anyway. I just wanna see you beg.> While the sentry pokemon was giggling, only his trainer noticed the next string shot coming his way. Sadly, she couldn't react in time. All she could say was-
"You moron, watch what you're doing!"
Suddenly her pokemon's short legs were tangled together against his tail.He gasped and struggled, trying to free himself from his binds, only getting further tangled. His trainer groaned.
"Whatever. Just finish this up."
Sentret merely grunted in response, his earlier glee had faded. He set himself back down onto the ground and prepared yet another scratch attack, but when he tried pouncing forward towards his opponent, his tangled feet failed him, and he fell to the ground with an <Oof!>

The caterpie had meant to high tail it, but the sentret's spill made her laugh. <Hahahahaha, your daddy must have been a slowpoke!> she grinned with mirth.
If this was funny, just think how funny it would be if he actually did turn into a ball of "all natural" yarn. She grinned, and sprayed more String Shot into the sentret's face. Nothing like adding insult to injury. <Take that, Mr. Sentret! Hah!>

<My father was a normal and respectable furret, thank you very much!> Whined the sentret, still sprawled on the groud. He pounded and kicked at the dirt under him in a tantrum, yelling, <Why do you hate me so much?!> Before flailing about, trying to get rid of the string.
His trainer covered her ears. "Shh, you're so loud! Who wouldn't hate you..." She hissed. "Now get up, and for god's sake, do something."
Her pokemon glared back at her. <You're a big help, babe. Why don't you just catch her? She's weak enough.>
"Catch that thing?! Why would I want it?"
<Fine!>
<Hrmph... thinks she's so big...> The sentret struggled to his feet, in a last effort to defeat the worm. He struck at her once again with a scratch right between the big, yellow eyes.

Bright bubbles of fire erupted in her vision. The scratch overlaid the first, and hurt even more. The caterpie yelled rocking back, and then falling over on her side, where she lay shuddering. Wind passed through the trees on the route, and then things were still. The caterpie had fainted, and things were quiet for a moment, before a humming noise broke in on the trainer an pokemon duo.
From the creak, a lotad pulled itself from the water, shaking all four blue feet to be clear of drops. He then shook himself all over, causing water to fly everywhere, and splash on everything. They he trundled up the grassy embankment to cross the road. There was some grass on the other side, and he was trying to get more greenery in his diet. He seemed completely unaware of the circumstances of what was happening on the road. The world was always rushing about.
((Do you want to fight this pokemon, or initiate a Time Warp. If you do, just name the number of days, keeping in mind that you cannot catch pokemon in a Time Warp.
Also:
Your sentret defeated a level 5 caterpie. He gains 1 level. Your sentret is now level 6))

((All right ~.^

Your sentret goes up 1 level Your sentret is now level 7 Your Sentret has learned quick attack.))
Dawn broke misty after the long day Kailee had spent dealing with her sentret. He was, well, slightly difficult in some very special ways. On the other hand she had managed to raise his level once more before it was time to learn how to put up her tent, and cook a meal over a camp fire.
Now the birds were twittering at the summer morning, some sounding wonderful, others sounding like the spearow they were. Other pokemon were up and about, enjoying the nice time before predators got to wing. The curious, or the merely young, were looking at Kailee's neat camping operation. One particularly curious pokemon, a poliwag, had come out of the grass to inspect the cold, soot streaked stones of the fire pit. Ash was all over his little blue legs, leacing him almost gray from the knees down, but he seemed to be having a fine time of it, turning over burned twigs with his broad tail.

But setting up camp was taking much longer than expected.
Kailee had only ever gone camping once, with her family. It was one of the rare times they ever did anything together. At the time, however, she was very young, and her father was the one to set up the tent. Now she wished she'd payed more attention. It was taking forever to set up the thing.
Of course, her pokemon were no help. She'd let them out upon Sentret's suggestion, saying they'd might like to have a little stretch outside their pokeballs. Kailee eventually gave in, but it wasn't as if they were helping much.
Again, the Zangoose seemed reluctant to help in any way. She was still sulking that her trainer had chosen to take route one first, instead of training the strongest member of her team. She sat, bored, on a fallen log nearby, watching Kailee with a slightly amused expresion on her face. Next to her sat the eevee, who still seemed lost in his own mind.
That human... who is she? he silently inquired. Another voice hissed back, but he hardly flinched- the voice was a friend. It always knew what to say.
She's nothing. Just a human, don't pay her any attention on your travels-she'll get you nowhere. Just do as I say. It warned. The eevee inwardly agreed.
Meanwhile, the sentret was zipping around, more than happy with his new "Quick Attack" move. One moment he was here, the next, he was there, then he was all over te place! What fun!
He dashed up to his trainer, grinning and huffing.
<So, babe, are you gonna get around to naming us now?> He wheezed. But he was having to much fun to stop now. He hopped from foot to foot, eager to get running again. Kailee had just finished the tent, too. Though a bit sloppily made, it would hold for now. They'd been traveling all night, and it was time to take a bit of a rest in the morning. What a whacky schedual.
"Fine. Let's see, I think I have a good one for you- Romeo." She said. Nobocy yet seemed to notice the poliwag at the campfire.
Her Sentret giggled. <Romeo, eh?> He then resumed his dashing about, singing- <Romeo, Romeo!>
Kailee sighed and got up, stretching. "As for the Zangoose, Grip. I think I read of a Zangoose named Grip somewhere... nonetheless, I couldn't think of anything better. As for the eevee, he's really too quiet for me to tell anything about him... he'll remain nameless for now. Everyone happy?"
The response she got was from Grip: <Kailee, we have a visitor at the campfire. Get Romeo's furry little butt over here so we can get rid of it.>
Before Kailee could say anything, Romeo whacked into the poor Poliwag, stumbling out of his quick attack. He turned to face it again, happy it wasn't another String Shot-happy caterpie.

the poliwag yipped, and turned to face Romeo, looking betrayed. <Wasn't doing anything wrong! You had no need to hit me!> he complained, little lips set in a pout. He glared up at the sentret for a few moments, and then burst out with a spray of bubbles. It was fit retribution for how the sentret had treated him. Of that he was certain!

<Geh! Sorry... I just thought my trainer would want me to... and Grip said...> Romeo whimpered against the sting of the bubbly attack. He shook the water out of his fur.
"Well, I didn't say anything yet, did I?" Huffed Kailee. Suddenly Romeo felt very unlucky to have been stuck with a trainer like her. He frowned, and faced her. <Listen, sorry. So, do you want me to do something, or not?>
She put her hands on her hips and scowled back at him. "Well, if you're ready to listen to me, use tail whip. I don't really care whatever that poliwag came here for, but we might as well make something out of it."
Romeo nodded, sighed, and swung his large tail at the poliwag.

The poliwag was bowled over by the mass of the tail. He struggled to his stubby feet, and glared at the sentret. His head was ringing, and he couldn't be sure of much, but he was able to tell where the sentret was, and used the concentric rings on the pokemon's stomach to line up a new attack. Or rather, the same attack, seeing as he had never found water sport particularly useful when dealing with mean people. More bubbles shot toward Romeo from the little poliwag's mouth.
