Jimmy trudged through Ruby City, making his way through the bustling city. This was nothing compared to his village life. He wasn't that bothered right now, he just wanted to get to the lab. Sometimes people had barged past him because they were busy and needed to get to some place quickly. Back at the village it had been quiet and nice, Jimmy didn't really like the hustle and bustle of the city. Village life was much better for him. But his mind was focused on the lab. Soon he had come up to it and knocked on the door. Then he waited silently.

((The lab is in a skyscraper.))
The doorman opened the glass doors for Jimmy. "Welcome young sir. Are you here to go to the lab? It's on the eleventh floor. Just take the elevator over there."

ooc: Oh, sorry. XD >.<
bic: Jimmy jumped and nodded at the person. He eyed the doorman as he entered then ran to the elevator, pressed a button, went inside, pressed another button making the door close and up he went.

((Autoing because I hate these threads.))
Jimmy soon entered the lab, and was greeted by two seviper and a professor. The professor, Edwin Cerasus, eyed the boy slowly. "Good day, sir. You're three minutes late, but nevertheless...what starter would you like? Let's get this decided quickly, as I'd rather not stay behind schedule on my appointments this morning. The generated starters and type quiz starters might also interest you. You may pick a letter to get another starter added to the list, take the type quiz and get an additional option, both, or neither. What will you pick?"
((Type quiz:
Question 1: In a battle, would you rather attack: - A) from far away? - B) up close? Question 2: Would you rather take part in: - C) a challenge of wits? - D) a challenge of strength? Question 3: Would you rather be awake during: - E) the day? - F) the night? Question 4: Do you generally prefer: - G) hot colors? (red, orange, yellow) - H) cold colors? (green, blue, purple)
And I assume the "pick a letter" thing is easy enough to figure out...))

"Thanks..." Jimmy muttered, rolling his eys. Jimmy looked at the quiz and wrote down his answers as quickly as he could so he could get his starter pokemon and starter pack. The young boy was very proud of what he put. His answers? These:
1)A 2)D 3)E 4)H
He then handed the quiz back to Professor Cerasus and awaited what pokemon would be added. As he waited, he looked around the lab. He was getting bored but yet excited.

"All right, you get a mareep added to the list with that set up," Professor Cerveus told Jimmy as he scanned the answers. "Right. So, our standard starters, as you can probably guess from the sign are: slugma, bellsprout, magnemite, corphish, and rattata. Or you can choose one of our rotating starters, this week: torchic, piplup, and chikorita. If you don't like any of those, then there are always our specially generated starters -- mainly donated pokemon from breeders that didn't learn the egg moves they were supposed to. This week I've got a lot of grass and bug types: budew, surskit, exeggcute, pinsir, and venonat. Finally, of course, there is the mareep you've tested for."

Jimmy sat on a chair and took ages to decide. He thought and thought. He wanted a chikorita and a mareep. But he couldn't have both. So, in the end, he asked, "umm I'm having a bit of trouble deciding between a mareep and chikorita. Can you maybe show me the two pokemon and/or tell me there personalities, please?"

"Well, I try not to show the pokemon directly, in case both make and unprofessional attachment to the trainer, who may only have one or the other," the professor admitted. "That makes it unfair for the other trainers who come, and want the pokemon that was left behind, I'm afraid. Now, the mareep is rather lazy. Good natured, but I would rather see him go to a trainer who will snap him out of his habit of sleeping when he's supposed to be battling. The chikorita, on the other hand, is more energetic. She can be shy at times, but is quite happy, and eager to begin her training."

Jimmy nodded in understandment. He knew he'd be quite frustrated if he'd been say set on a mareep and instead he got a pokemon he really didn't want because the others all got unproffesionally attached to their trainers. "OK, thanks for the info." He grinned at the professor and hesitated. Both pokemon would be alright to him. He was a boy who commonly was lazy but could be energetic. Though he knew he probably wouldn't be able to snap the mareep into shape because he'd soon give up if it took too long. "I'll take the chikorita if you don't mind."

"All right then," Professor Cerasus went into a side room, and came back a few moments later. There was a pokeball in his hand, as well as a pouch. "This pouch contains all of the essentials you get on a Tejanese journey. Five pokeballs, three potions, and one pokedex. Your starter is level five, please enjoy your stay in Ruby City."
((Copyish stuff:
Chikorita Name: ? ? ? Gender: Female Level: 5 Moves: Growl, Tackle Special Ability: Overgrow - Raises grass moves when in a pinch Personality: A little shy, but very enthusiastic about the idea of evolving. She wants to become a pretty meganium, and is willing to battle in order to achieve that.
Pack: 5 Pokeballs 3 Potions 1 Pokedex

"Thanks. See ya. I'll try to have fun." He took the pouch and pokeball, turned and left, going down the elevator and away..
Jimmy stepped out into the city and looked about. Where to first? He wondered, blinking. There were many places to head off too. He shuddered as a cold wind prodded him. Well, umm, there's the breeding centre, the umm, wild thing place and the gym. He thought silently, taking out a map of Tejan and looking at Ruby City. Then he remembered his chikorita so rushed violently to take her out and, in all that rush, almost dropped the small gadget. He found the button, pressed it and watched as a red light emerged, quickly turning into a pokemon. Jimmy knelt down.
"I'm calling you Bell." He announced to her and the chikorita blushed. +'Kay.+ Was all Bell said before nuzzling Jimmy's legs. Jimmy picked up the small grass pokemon and walked forward, blending in with the crowd of people.
"Let's go to Kobayshi centre, where they have the wild stimulation centre." Bell nodded lightly so they headed there.
Umm, where is it...? He thought silently, look frantically about. He turned right, heading down a slightly quieter road.. "I suppose I should ask someone..." He muttered, so wandered up to the nearest person he could find. "Excuse me, do you know where the Kobayshi Centre is?"

((Actually, it sort of does. Since the lab, the training grounds (AKA the effective "first route"), and the first gym are all in Ruby City, this thread should be able to take you from your first post in Tejan until you receive your first badge from the Ruby City gym. So if you don't edit your post saying where your character is going, you can't really continue in your journey, and Morrigan can't exactly decide that for you... If you're confused as to where to go, why don't you check out the informational thread for this board right here: banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=scrapethesky&action=display&thread=598Basically, you could go to the breeding building to buy a level 5 Pokemon (for example, you could buy a machop so you have an advantage at the first gym), you could head over to the wild Pokemon simulation building to face off against catchable Pokemon and train/expand your team (ie, you could catch a ghastly so the normal-type gym's main attacks won't have any effects), or you could go to the department store to stock up on items you might want/need. However, all of this should really be done in this thread. And don't worry 'bout spending all your life in Ruby City! My goal for Tejan is to have journeys that actually go somewhere, so once I regain my autocratic hold on this site, I'll probably give all Tejanese Pokemon mandatory level-ups so I don't get bored modding. ))

((Wow, that's much nicer than my response would have been.
Basically, Sophie, you've got a great attitude about everything, but you need to put more effort into your posts, so we can mod for them. Tejan is "easy" but not "Gods control your every move!"))

"Oh, certainly, young man," said the doorman. "Just go inside. The reception will tell you which floor to go to, depending on which pokemon you would like to battle."

"Thank you." Jimmy said and moved up to the door. It opened and he stepped inside and looked around. The boy noticed the reception and walked up to the desk. "Excuse me, can you kind of explain about the Kobayshi centre for me? I know it's where you catch and fight wild pokemon but.."

A young woman snapped her gum, flicking a glance towards Jimmy from her magazine. "Hmm? Oh, you don't get it?" She then reached under the desk and grabbed a brochure, which she then placed on the desk towards Jimmy. "There're seven floors in this building - we're on the first floor, which is just offices and stuff. Nothing you can really do here. The other six floors are what you want to pay attention to. Each floor has a different 'wild' Pokemon," she explained, making air quotes with her fingers, "and you can take the elevator to whichever floor you want. Once you're done with a floor, which can be whenever you want, you can take the elevator to another floor, or leave." She then jabbed her finger at the brochure. "You can battle as many Pokemon as you like, but you can only take up to three Pokemon out of the building. So basically, don't try to catch 'em all, or whatever, just pick the one, two, or three Pokemon you want to catch and then catch 'em. Or don't catch 'em, if you want to buy a breeded Pokemon or just take on Carmen with your starter. All the same to me," she explained with a nonchalant shrug. "Anyway, second floor is sentret, third floor is wurmple, fourth floor is poochyena, fifth floor is mankey, sixth floor is starly, and seventh floor is gastly. All Pokemon are from level 3 to level 9, but the higher level ones probably won't go after you if you're just starting. Any other questions?" (This gives information, too: banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=scrapethesky&action=display&thread=598)

"No, but thank you." Sentret?! I love Sentret! He thought, spinning around and racing to the elevator. He pressed the button and within a few moments it heaved open, the little boy stepping in and pressing button with a number Two on it. The doors shut within a few moments and he said through gritted teeth, in a pleasure-sounding tone, "This is it, Bell, THIS IS IT!!!!!" Suddenly, the doors moved to the side and the boy stepped out into the 'habitat' where many a sentret lived. And so the search for some began..
