The krabby jumped at the chance for food. Almost literally. It scuttled so quickly to the spot that William had dropped the pokechow that it appeared to have teleported. Grasping the food delicately in the powerful little shellder chrushers of his claws he began to nibble on the offering. Although krabby were omnivorous, they had very small mouths with would extend outward from their carapace like funnels, inside of which lurked mandibles, rather like a spiders'. They could eat faster than would be believed with this kind of mouth, but still could only nibble at food rather than take hulking bites.
Once he was done, the krabby, now slightly more relaxed, sidled closer. Food was always good.

William now stared at the Krappy... did it take just one morsal for a Pokemon to begin to follow a trainer for more food? He wondered, he decided to take two steps back. But he now had his hand on Jacks pokeball, but not in a way that said he would be calling upon the Pokemon, he just wanted to be safe in case the Krappy decided to jump him for food, but he would have to be leary, since the krappy moved so fast in the first place...
His curious mind was racing, wondering about this or that, but not in any ordered way that might have allowed him to become a scientist, maybe a professor at a college, where students laugh at his forgetfulness, but not a full fledge Pokemon Professor that gave out Pokemon.

The krabby eyed William with his protruding peepers. The human had food, but was backing away from a fight over it. Hmm, he had several choices then. He could rush for the boy and grab a hold of his pants, thus ransoming the pants for the food. Or he could sidle away. Or he could follow the human he decided on a compromise, and came warily closer to the human, but not close enough to touch.

William was blinking, he had noticed the hesitation, and so, he found another piece of a pokechow... and tossed another one... he was wondering if he could find any more... since he had a limit, of about ten he had counted before the trip, well, now eight, but still, he was wondering how his jeans got stuffed... maybe Jacks put them there to store for later, he would have to ask when they got back to the school.
He then took a step sideways... and back, so making a one sided triangular trek... he was really curious and so he didn't noticed if any of the other students were watching.

The krabby realized that this human, whatever his faults as a member of a species that liked to shatter normality as a rule, was obviously interested in feeding him. This made the krabby perfectly happy to swoop down on the treat, but he did click his pinchers in appreciation, before beginning to nibble.
As a young crustacean, the krabby had learned that humans liked to upset the natural order of things. They took troublemakers and restless souls from the population at large, which was a good thing, but they often took normal every-day citizens, as well. And made them go on unnatural treks through lands that a crustacean should not know. However, this one seemed to be on the level. He was offering food, after all.

William by now was looking around, afraid that the teacher or a teacher's pokemon would report on him and he would have to then battle, he rather not... he was interested in watching the Krappy now... He wanted to try something else now.
"Say, can you understand me? If so, click your pincher's once for understanding, okay?"
He was trying to see this, he wanted to maybe then watch what it was that Krappy did without humans around... he was becoming focused on observing this one Krappy.

The krabby, who could understand the question perfectly, clicked his pinchers together. He felt a little put out by the question. After all, it wasn't as if he was stupid, or anything.

William only nodded his head. "Okay... good, I just wish I could have gotten a translator chip, and not be using this kind of method of communication." He muttered to himself.
He smiled and looked at the Krappy, "Okay... I am afraid I need to ask you to act out your words, but could you tell me what you do around here? I have not been to someplace like this before to be honest."

The krabby looked perplexed. This was complicated question territory. It would have to think for a moment about how to act out the basics of eating and sleeping. Life on the rough coast line didn't involve too much luxury. Although sometimes the krabby on the beach would all get together and have a day of games and feasting.
Finally it pointed at the food, and then back at his mouth to indicate eating, and then squatted down with his eyes filmed over as the expression for sleeping. Then he danced around, picking up stones and throwing them to imply playing with others. This one, he knew would be a bit of a stretch.

William blinked, he got he eating and sleeping... but the the third one...
"You like to skip rocks? Or is that throwing rocks at people? Or... is that some kind of game?" He asked the last part after a long pause of thinking.
The rock game looked kind of fun, so he picked on up and tossed it lightly onto the pebbly ground around him, careful to not hit any Pokemon he could see.

ooc: Sorry for the wait. School and stuff >.< And awesome! Ahaha, can't wait for that bit to happen!
bic: Simpre felt his level raise and he beamed. +Mummy will be so proud of me!+ He grinned and Sophie smiled at her temporary pokemon. The young student was aware that the crybaby eevee wasn't talking about Sophie but about Professor Hazel. If I pass this and start going to breeder classes, and she shows us Simpre, I bet Simpre will be ticked. She giggled to herself then straightened up. She knew that the flashing light meant he was knocked out so she took her only pokeball, held it tightly in her hands and chucked it towards the staryu, muttering constantly, "Please don't miss, I beg of you, please don't miss! I'll die otherwise! Well, maybe not but still!" Meanwhile, Simpre was wondering what he'd 'say' to his mother when he got back to her. He wasn't really hoping or waiting for the pokeball to hit and capture the starly, infact he hadn't even noticed that Sophie had thrown the ball.

The krabby chortled, although all William would hear was frothing bubbles. He ran after the rock, and picked it up. Staring at the thing with his bulbous eyes, he examined the sea smoothed pebble. It was of a fair size, but there were probably nicer ones to play with on the beach. He dropped it again, seeing a black and white stripped rock. Grabbing this one, he tossed it back towards Matt.
~ ~ ~
The staryu rocked in "his" pokeball, which finally came to a stop with a quick "ding." Sasha had just completed forty percent of her project, and now all that remained was the 50% to be gained by writing up the paragraph about why she had chosen this pokemon for her starter. But first she would need to get back to Professor Vervain, and his chansey in the School boat in order to have a fully functional healed pokemon.

William caught the rock without it touch the ground, he was about to toss it back, but realized that the color was strange.
"What? What is this?" he stopped and began to exam the rock. "I never saw a black and white stripped rock before... what is this?" he was now engrossed in the rock but looking at the Krabby.
"This is a most interesting rock," he bent down and picked up another smooth Grey rock and tossed it back at the Krabby, but was still looking at strange rock.

A smile creeped across Sasha's blankened and amazed face. Her smiled quickly evolved into a grin and she screamed, grabbing the pokeball and putting it onto her belt before screaming a bit more, jumping up and down. Simpre frowned, are all girls like this?? He wondered, stepping back a bit, slightly frightened. "I CAUGHT A STARYU!!!!!! I CAUGHT A STARYU!!!!!!! THAT MEANS I DON'T FAIL THIS TASK!!!!!!!!!!!!! YA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" She danced around for a bit then remembered that there was a deadline. Oh no, I gotta show it to him and quickly! She grabbed Simpre and raced towards the place where Professor Vervain was waiting.
"Professor! I caught a staryu! Now what?" She announced when she appeared infront of the professor. Simpre smiled, Hooray, one step closer to seeing my mother again!!! He thought and added silently, And one step closer to being away from this brat. He sighed and went into a 'coma' of Professor Hazel and the laughs they used to and will share.
Just as Sasha announced that she'd captured a staryu, two fluffy brown ears appeared about of her rucksack and then a head of a buneary.
+What, how dare you forget me! Hello everyone out there!+ The buneary sounded slightly offended about being left out and Sasha screamed in shock, almost fainting.
"Professor, I didn't know he.. or she.... was in there! Don't give me detention or something! Don't fail me!" Sasha said, not crying but sounding incredibly worried. The buneary jumped out and stretched.
+By the way, you officially own me 'cause there was a spare pokeball lieing in your bag which I hopped into.. You wouldn't release a cute buneary, would you?+ Sasha read the pokedex chip which explained what the buneary was saying. The buneary gave cute eyes and Sasha hugged him, sighing sadly. "I hope I can keep him..." She muttered..

His scheme finally lost out. Somewhere between getting his loaned Pokémon and landing on this route, Wind went into a deep dazed, figuring out how to run away into deeper parts of the Fog Path to start his own quest, not one assigned by some trainer school. The plans brewed in his head gained some ground, but that was before he saw the girl in his class catch a staryu after walking around for a while. Her reactions radiated joy and excitement.
Kenji wouldn't want me to give up my chance to become a trainer like this. He would have laughed at me when I was arguing with my mom. He would have told me that this is the best experience I could every hope for at my age. I should at least try to get pass all this stuff, even if it seems... impractical to me.
With those thoughts swimming in his mind, he plowed off towards a different rock pool than the girl was at. His reflection glared at him as he looking into the water. A wave splashed into the pool, breaking the natural mirror into ripples, small waves, and spray. He thought about putting his hand in there to search around for what might be hiding, but came to his senses.
He called Ciril out. The jigglypuff just glance up at him before looking at the rock pool in front of him. <So you’re my trainer for now? Cool. I can roll with that. Name’s Ciril. >
His deep voice threw Wind off for a bit, but he was back to normal before asking how a jigglypuff could sound like a bass singer. "Good, because I'm gonna need your help to do this test. Name's... just call me Wind." Wind... I like the sound of that.
<Fine by me, > the pink puffball replied. He did a slight stretch before eyeing his temporal trainer. <You do know how to battle, right? >
"Of course, I know." Not that I remember a thing Kenji taught me... "Cept' I haven't done it in awhile..." All that left now it to wander around these pools for a while. Maybe I'll find something useful. With that, he set off, looking around each pool to see what was in store for him.

Wendy glared at the tentacool. The mismagius had been gone quite some time, but the girl was still deep in thought.
"Well, then," she stated, letting Frederik out. "I have two options ahead of me. One, I defeat this little tentacool quickly and then leave to look for a spearow, or," she nodded towards Frederik. "I catch this little thing and hope someone will trade me what I want. Either way, we're going to win now, Frederik."
"Of course," the rattata replied, though not quite sure what his trainer was talking about. He had, after all, been let out mid-sentence, and was still trying to piece together what she was talking about.
"Bite. I want you to aim to bite down on its face, and try to disable its sight. Then I want you to jump off of the main part of the body and avoid the tentacles. Don't stray near them too long," she hissed, trying to figure out an appropriate strategy to use against a creature she had never really dealt with much before. Wendy had grown up in a mountainous area, for Mew's sake, and didn't really care too much about open ocean pokemon.
If I have to catch this thing, I'm getting it off my team the first chance I get, she thought as Frederik dove towards the tentacool. I'll just watch to see how it acts. If it seems somewhat intelligent, this might actually be difficult. She grinned a little. This could be fun.

The rock went skittering down the beach, and away into the mist, its crustacean pursuer following as quickly as the sideways legs would allow. Soon William's companion was swallowed up by the mist oppressing the foggy beach. The waves were lapping away as the tide ebbed. Within minutes the title had noticibly receded. This wasn't a horrible situation, unless you were the tentacool lying stranded a few feet from Will.
~ ~ ~
"Right," Professor Vervain said rolling his eyes. "I thought I had specified that only one pokeball was to be allowed on the trip, however, the buneary clear knows what he wants, and we allow for the strong minded. Welcome aboard. I'll heal your staryu, and then you may go back to shore and start battling wild pokemon, or challenge your class-mates if you prefer. You'll need to leave Simpre with me, now that he's completed his task."
He pounded on the deck of the ship, and a chansey came out from below, carrying a weather beaten Nor-easter. <You haven't put your proper clothes on,> she said reproachfully.
"Tissa -- please, we have a girl who needs to get her staryu healed, and then you can row back with her to land. She could barely manage the dinghy coming over."
<Oh my! You tried to row that boat all by yourself? Dear me, children always are so independent. Well, give me your staryu's pokeball,> Tissa waved her hand-flippers over the ball, and then dropped the white and red sphere back to Sophie. <There you are, honey. Now come on, let's get going back to shore!> the chansey waddled over to the rope ladder that led to the dinghy and swung herself over the edge of the boat to climb down.
~ ~ ~
His next rock pool was rather larger than the rest, and filled clear water, There seemed to be a lack of pokemon, but that could have been because the area was very shallow, although wide. Swimming among the waving pickle weed was a tentacool, who, when he saw the human and the jigglypuff, waved on long black tentacle at them.
~ ~ ~
This tentacool was not in a good position to fight back. At higher levels tentacool could float through the air, although it was unpleasant, she unfortunately was stranded on the beach. Oh, sure, if she tried, she could get back to the water, but she was feeling like a lazy bum, and didn't want to try. Everyone had the right to apathy, right?
Apparently not when a purple rodent sets his teeth in you!
Agony came through her body as her delicate skin broke under the teeth. Tentacool can't scream, but that's what this one felt like doing. Her whip-like tentacles waved and thrashed, before rapping around Frederick and squeezing him. It was instinct, and she wanted the little rodent in place -- too many mammals escaped secondary attacks.

What is that? Wind thought, seeing the whip-like arm in the pool. "Hey, isn't that a tentacool?"
<Yeah, why? > Ciril questioned, wondering why a jellyfish would interest him.
What is it doing? Maybe it waving at us... nah. "Their one of the few Pokémon that are classified as water / poison. Plus, if this one has the ability clear body, then it won't be affected by the stat-changing move of their opponent, like leer and tail whip. It's almost perfect for fighting lower leveled Pokémon that rely on those types of moves."
The jigglypuff shrugged, or did the equivalent of one. He understood what he was talking about, but thinking about stuff like that is exactly why people and Pokémon get headaches. Better to be relaxed and thoughtless than to meditate on small things, but at least he got the answer he was looking for.
"I don't want you to get in the water, or not right now at least. That would be going into its backyard to play. Instead, I want you to use sing from here. If it's asleep, then we can attack with pound."
<Sounds like a plan to me, > He said, before taking in a few breaths to clear out his lungs. With one more long breath, he started to sing... It didn't sound all that bad to Wind, but still didn't seem to set right with his mind.

The girl smiled, "Thank you Professor." She then put the staryu's pokeball onto her belt and hopped into the boat. Her buneary hopped out and put one of his hands in the water, letting it swim about as he waited for it to set off. Sasha listened silently to the gentle flowing of the waves and leaned back oo relax slightly.

Frederik suddenly panicked as the tentacles constricted around his stomach. He thrashed a bit before Wendy's voice shot into his ears. "Don't panic! Calm down - I don't want you losing because you lose control."
The rodent took a shallow breath, relaxing somewhat.
"Now use Quick Attack! Twist yourself in the opposite direction of the tentacles!" Wendy ordered from her position. She crept up closer to the fight so she could see the status of the tentacool. Those tentacles don't look that strong, and Frederik is much quicker than that thing is out of water, she noted, tapping her lips with her forefinger. I don't want Frederik getting stuck in there, though. "Get out of those tentacles! Break it's grip, don't stop moving. Make sure to move erratically and change direction often."
"<That's...not what you...said a...moment ago,>" the rat retorted as he attempted to follow her orders, as under the battle-set adrenaline rush he seemed to have forgotten that Wendy didn't have a translator with her, and couldn't understand his retort (she ended up just ignoring the chittering sound of his native tongue). Following her orders while still breathing was rather difficult under the stupid sea creature's grip...
