((Alright, I'll bring out the bidoof, but Lee, do you want to write Pink?
Edit: w007! 60 posts for this thread - we're on a new page! ^_^))
Flare grunted as she scratched another bidoof into submission. She grinned. She was getting the hang of this - sort of. She felt a bit woozy from her couple of battles...and these were the weakest wild Pokemon she could find with which to train against.
She glanced behind her, focusing her eyes on Rain and Rocky. Rain would probably have something she could use to make Flare feel less...faint.
Toddling forward, Flare began to close in on her trainer when something hit her from behind. The monkey pitched forward, and scrambled back to her face to come face-to-face with...another bidoof.
However, this one looked a bit bigger than the others - there was no way it was as weak as they were. She grinned, baring her humongous buck teeth and flexing her claws.
Flare paused, then screeched, dashing back (not in a straight line) over to Rain.
Rain blinked, then recoiled a bit when Flare smashed into her leg. "What happened?" She glanced over at the incoming bidoof, and rolled her eyes. "Oh come on. That's what, only a bit stronger than normal? It's probably just one that's been avoiding trainers or something, so it got a bit larger and more muscular. Or whatever..." Rain glanced at her chimchar, noticing how close she was to losing consciousness. "What were you doing? You almost fainted...I guess I should give you a potion. Just, like, stay by me...you don't need to battle, Rocky doesn't need any support."
Flare frowned. Her woozy headache made it hard for her to concentrate on what Rain was saying. She heard the "what happened", but everything after that sort of blurred together...
"CHII!" She screeched again, jumping up when Rain sprayed a thick, cold liquid onto her. She shook her head. It was freezing! Then she paused. Wait, the faint feeling...? It was gone! Rain healed her! Rain was so nice...
Rain raised one blue eyebrow as Flare hugged her leg, then looked at the bidoof. "Well, somebody should take care of it," she began, looking back toward Rocky. "Does anybody else feel like challenging themselves, or should I just have Rocky do it?"

Jacob tried not to let his expression give away what he was thinking. Mainly: Why was she acting so snotty about it? Megan's piplup was injured and A'Tuin was not in the best of shape either. Was it so much of a bother for Rain to ask Rocky to use tackle as soon as it had appeared, threatening her chimchar?
It was a fairly big pokemon, but the bigger they are the harder they fall.
"Well, I suppose if you don't want to train Flare I'll take advantage of it," Jacob told Rain, trying to hint as politely as he could that she should be concentrating on the pokemon she had just recieved and building up that bond. "I think that Rocky has had enough training for one day, after all. A'Tuin, absorb!"
The grass turtle, liking the new move, since she didn't have to do much but stand there, forced the ground to suck the energy from the bidoof, and transfer some to her.

Seeing Rain heal her chimchar, Megan got the bright idea to do the same thing. Before she could though (since it took her a longer time to get her stuff out of her backpack), something that looked like a bidoof on steroids appeared. Needless to say, Megan 'eeped' and hopped away from it and gave A'Tuin free range to attack, since Nissan was still hiding and Coax couldn't do anything. Which made it obvious to Megan why she had rarely ever carried anything when using crutches-It was hard. But at least it was possible.
From ahead of them on the route a charging blur (okay, so it wasn't fast enough to be a blur, so what?) of burnished yellow and dark grey came, heading straight towards the super-bidoof. It connected with a heavy -thump-, and the shieldon came to a stop as the bidoof did a blackflip in the air.
Appearing next to Rain, Pink grinned at the group, "Nice day, isn't it?" Taking off her hat and dipping her head in greeting, she returned the pink piece of clothing to her head and directed her pokemon with another attack. "Go ahead and finish it up with a Take Down attack, Avalanche."
The bidoof had gotten her footing again and retaliated the earlier tackle with one of her own, bouncing off the hard, armour-like skin of the shieldon. Avalanche backed up a few paces, before charging foward in what looked like an upgraded tackle, which sent the bidoof not flying backwards, but bouncing over the lowered head of Avalanche and into the grass on the otherside of the path, causing minimal damage to the shieldon with flailing paws and tail.
"Good job, Avalanche." The shieldon laid down next to his trainer, as Pink turned her attention the trio of trainers. "You guys are pretty strong." Seeming to think for a moment, she suddenly brightened. "I've a wonderful idea. If you'll just join up with my comrades and me, I promise a shieldon-or cranidos if you prefer those-that's just as strong as mine! What do you say?"

Rain blinked, eyeing the shieldon distastefully. "Well, it's cute...not to say I wouldn't like a strong Pokemon, but...I dunno." She shrugged. "If I remember correctly, the evolutions of the two Pokemon you mentioned are kinda ugly...I think I'm good with Rocky." The trainer-of-non-dragons glanced at Pink. "Besides, I don't wanna join anything without knowing the salary. I'm not a cheapskate, you know."
Rocky growled, and eyed the shieldon. He hung back, though, as he noticed the Pokemon's steel-type. That was a type he couldn't hope to defeat...not yet, anyway. Once he evolved, though, then he would be one of them. THEN he could take them on.
Flare just smiled and waved at the shieldon. Maybe he was nice!

"Excuse me," Jacob said. "But what exactly are you selling? People don't come out of the blue offering rare pokemon just to be friendly. What is this group and why should being a strong trainer be the requirement to be part of it?"
Needless to say, during the past ten years he'd met a lot of people who used to be part of one "group" or another. They usually ended up in jail when the pokemon league came down hard on them. It certainly sounded like the typical Team Rocket sales pitch.

((It's a good thing that Nyaa is the only one who is b'ricked. -would have been for her lame joke in her following post-))
Innocent Megan probably wouldn't have known what to do if it hadn't have been for Jacob and Rain. Thanks to their wisdom, Megan was able to make the right choice, and say No. "Uh, no, I'm fine. Thank you anyways."
Pink frowned at the three of them, "Well, obviously you can only handle such a pokemon as a shieldon or a cranidos if you are strong. They aren't weak pokemon, you know." Crossing her arms she pouted, "So I guess you're saying no?" Avalanche stood up in anticipation, as Pink continued, "Well, I guess I'll just have to make sure you don't get in the way then." Which involved-fainting their wimpy starter pokemon and taking them. So that they didn't get any stronger and become a threat.

Rain raised one eyebrow. "Rocky, do you want to-" she interrupted herself by seeing Rocky breathing rather heavily and eyeing the shieldon with hesitation. "Oh right...type chart..." Rain looked down at Flare, sighing. "Well, if you want to battle, go ahead..."
Flare chirped happily, jumping for joy and pumping her fists into the air. Yes! A battle, a battle!
The trainer glanced behind her. "She'll probably need major backup," she told Megan and Mr. Fritz - wasn't his name Jayden or Jared or something? She'd overheard him say something like that to A'Tuin...

"No problem, I'm used to fighting steel types," Jacob replied confidently. "And this one is a part ground, A'Tuin will be fine. Megan, if Coax is feeling better perhaps he should come out, too, he must be close to learning bubble. A'TuinAbsorb and stand firm."
Jacob realized that of the different pokemon A'Tuin had the best defense, and should therefore make herself a target right from the outset. Hopefully the odd trainer was The kind that did the logical thing and eliminated the attacking target first. It would give time for Flare and Coax to flank the higher level sheildon. And if Rain was smart she'd order Rocy to act as a physical shield, or at least lay down cover fire with dragon breath. I wasn't very effective, but it would paralyze the sheildon if they were lucky. The caterpie that Megan had might be useful in that respect, too. It was times like this that he missed -- No. Actually, no. Lack of mental communication was a small price to pay.

Megan nodded, "Right." She had managed one battle (she hadn't lost, even if she hadn't won) with the creepy piplup, she could manage another one. She didn't know much about pokemon, but learning bubble sounded fun. "Okay Coax, let's try again." Setting the penguin down, another awkward feat, she watched as it waddled up behind Mr. Fritz's turtwig. "Use Growl." That sounded like a good idea, and it meant that the little water pokemon wouldn't have to get too close to the shieldon.
Pink pouted, crossing her arms. "That isn't fair. You outnumber him. Avalanche, use swagger." Avalanche did, directing it towards the chimchar, since it seemed to him that the fire monkey had the quickest temper of the lot. Swagging towards the monkey, he sneezed pointedly in her direction. He probably could have gone on for quite a bit longer, but he was distracted by the growl attack, and he felt and odd drain of energy that he had never experienced before.

Rain shook her head as Flare pouted angrily. "You fell for it?" she mumbled, rolling her eyes to glance at Rocky. "You're pretty weak," she muttered, half to herself, half to the air.
Flare, however, was busy trying to calm her conflicting thoughts. Part of her, the sunny-side-up sort of happiness that always ruled her mind, was being jumbled up and tossed away...by anger. She never felt angry! Argh, that made her so mad!
No, no, no, she just had to calm down. No sense getting angry now, she would just have to think happy thoughts! Happy...happy...like how her trainer made her happy!
Trainer? What, did she mean Rain? Oh yes, Rain was such a nice and caring girl. Yeah, the kind of nice and caring girl who wouldn't even bother to train her! Yeah! All she did was train Rocky. Rocky, Rocky, Rocky. Just Rocky, never Flare. What was so good about Rocky, anyway? Once Flare evolved, she'd be able to whip him with her fighting techniques - fighting and fire if he ever evolved. Rain was blind to turn away from Flare! Flare could have been the best friend she ever had, but noooo...all Rain ever cared about was Rocky (or moping over not getting a different Sinnoh starter - Flare figured she probaby wanted the piplup).
And that made Flare so ANGRY!
"CHAAAAA!" She shrieked, slamming her tiny fists into the ground. The little fire monkey glared at Avalanche, baring her tiny teeth. Crouching low to the ground, she tensed her little muscles, preparing to leap.
Then she did.
Rain looked shocked. "Flare, don't kill that thing!" she called, horrified at the mad craze that had come over her monkey. Flare had lunged at her adversary, scratching and biting without really focusing her energy into one attack. It seemed like a simple rabid craze...and that was not how she wanted her Pokemon to act!
Picking up a pebble that had wedged itself under her dirty sneaker, she pulled back her right hand, and threw. Luckily for her, she managed to hit her target - Flare's head.
The monkey whined, rubbing the sore spot where the pebble bounced. She blinked dazedly, glancing around. Suddenly, she realized she was on top of Avalanche, which sort of startled here. Jumping off the fossil Pokemon with an embarrassed squeak, Flare scampered back over to Rain without Rain actually having to order her to do so.
Flare stared up, confused, into Rain's brown eyes. What had just happened.
"Mew, control yourself, Flare!" Rain scoffed.
Flare blinked. Control herself...but...she still didn't know what just happened...how confusing for Flare!
While Flare tried to figure out her problem, Rain flicked a glance at Megan and Jacob. "Alright, Megan, Mister Fritz, can you hold off that dinosaur while I try to get Flare back on board? That ugly pink girl is right - it's totally unfair to attack three-on-one." She leaned in closer. "So we should have our Pokemon attack all at once," she whispered.

((Sorry I haven't posted. I was gonna. And then things happened. And there were concerts that I had to volunteer for. Curse you, classical music festivals. Curse you and your evil needin' people to help out. Bah. Last night was the first night this week that I got to be and awoke at a semi-decent time...))
Jacob tried not to give the girl a dirty look for stating the obvious. Oh well, he supposed that he should be grateful that she knew at least enough about team work to realize that they should all attack at once. It was really horrible to command another person's pokemon without permission, especially pokemon of young trainers, before they could get their battle style worked out. However, he wished they were using the onix and caterpie as backup. Fighting fair was not in the equation when someone was ruthless enough to attack a band of low level starters with a higher leveled steel type.
"A'Tuin, use your absorb!"
The tiny turtle nodded, grinning slightly. She was at nearly full health now, thanks to the constant sapping of her enemies. This was a fun attack. She wondered if she'd be able to learn more fun attacks, as she began to glow green again, leeching energy from the shieldon.

At the same time as A'Tuin started moving forward to perform her attack, Flare jumped away from Rain.
"What the-? Flare! Get back here!" Rain snapped, until she saw Flare's cute little grin. Frowning, she mouthed "what are you doing?"
Luckily, Flare seemed at least somewhat competent at lip-reading, and grinned a bit more. Oh, how her trainer would be proud of her! During her little bout of memory-loss-due-to-brain-fogginess, she found that she learned something. She learned to use her anger - she only assumed it was anger that had taken hold of her, and since anger was such a strange thing to her, it caused her to blank out a bit - into a natural reaction. This reaction used her new emotions and focused thoughts as energy to fuel a new attack, one that matched A'Tuin's newfound absorbing onslaught.
Or, rather, she learned how to make fire all by herself.
Rain's eyebrows went up as she saw a couple of tiny embers forming in Flare's hands. When did she learn to do ember?
Nevertheless, it would do very nicely against the steel-type, especially during the course of A'Tuin's absorb.
"Do it," she hissed excitedly, unable to keep herself from smirking a bit. She brushed a blue strand of hair out of her eyes, so as to better see the attack when it happened
Flare rushed forward, clapping her hands together and chittering happily. Once she reached the spot right next to A'Tuin, Rain shouted "Ember!", to which the little chimchar began throwing a barrage of fiery embers towards Avalanche. The orange fire mixed with the green shimmer of the absorb, but there was still one color missing...
Rain looked at Megan. "Use bubble. It'll look cool."
((Sorry, I messed up our little order. But hey, Lee control's Pink...so I guess it works out better this way?))

OoC: Moi, yea, it doesn't work out better. XD We have a new WORLD ORDER! BiC: Megan looked at the apathetic piplup, and then back at Rain, "But I don't know if he knows it." She looked at Coax, and decided to try it and see if the little pokemon did know. "Well, try to use Bubble, Coax." The awkward penguin puffed himself up, waddled forward a few steps- -and fell onto his face. He managed to get back up, but there seemed to be something odd. His little body would bounce up slightly, and when the noise reached Megan and Nissan, and the caterpie nearly fell off his trainer's shoulders when he realized Coax had hiccups. The first emotion Megan had seen on Coax's face appeared, and it was the wonderful look of surprise. A bubble popped out of his mouth on a large hiccup, and that seemed to unlock all of them, as the piplup suddenly had a stream of the pretty blue things flying out of his mouth and towards Avalanche. Along with the sound of hiccuping. --- Pink crossed her arms, stamping her foot. "That isn't fair!" Her anger only escalated when her beloved shieldon was actually pushed backwards a good two feet from the combined attacks. "Come on Avalanche, take them out with a take down attack!" She'd played too nicely with them at first-That was her fault, and Pink was willing to accept that, even if they were cheating. She'd just have to play rougher now. Avalanche charged towards the three starter pokemon, aiming to get a single hit on any of them. As strong as he was, he should be able to knock them out pretty quickly. Lucky him, only one of them was really fast at moving-the fire type. The Turtwig and Piplup weren't exactly speedy, so his attack was aimed more towards them than the Chimchar.

"A'Tuin, stand your ground and absorb! Megan, Coax needs to move away from A'Tuin! Rain, get Rocky to take the hit! Flare copy Coax and get out of the way for a flanking move! " Jacob yelled.
A'Tuin braced herself, realizing even as Jacob did, that Avalanche could only hit one of them if they spaced themselves out, and out of the gang of three her attacks did the sheildon the least damage, so she was the logical choice for bait. This did not make her feel any happier about Jacob's orders. She wanted to be a winner, not cannon fodder. The green glow angrily burst into life around both her body and Avalanche's charging form.
