Deep in the redwoods, over looking a mossy cliff, a nice house has been built. Some of the outer wall has had stucco slapped on, and faced with stones, but most of the cabin is made from the original redwood branches and lumber. A stone walkway has been laid over the dark mast and through the high ferns up to the deep red door. If you look carefully, you'll find garden statues, and oddly carved rocks in various corners among the dripping wet leaves.
Inside there is a living room, with rugs on the shiny hardwood floor, and a kitchen behind a partition. The house is run on a generator, which is housed in a nearby shed, but in any case, Miteinjan's champion only runs water, lights, and the refrigerator just in case. Upstairs is a workshop, bathroom and bedroom, but these spaces are private, so it would be nice if you didn't investigate. There is a bathroom without a shower downstairs for the use of guests. Thank you.
When you come in, Ronny Jack, the champion, is happy to get you a mug of tea, coffee, hot cocoa, or a glass of juice, and let you rest for a while in the living room. Only when you're ready will he take you down to the cellar, which leads to a set of caves in the cliff.
The caves are lit by glowing fungus, and lights that Ronny installed, as part of his community service sentence. The light cast is a gentle blue light that gets swallowed up by shadows at the very end of the largest cavern, where Ronnie will challenge you. Unless you brought three wailords to the battle, there shouldn't be a problem fitting you all in there.
When challenging you, Ronny will ask that you send out all of the pokemon that you brought with you. Then he'll begin to battle you with his psychic powers, to judge if you are capable of being a champion.
Ronny Jack
Ronny is a good-natured guy with an easy going attitude and sense of humor. The only problem was that he kind of fell of the rails early on in his life when he discovered that he had psychic powers, and quite a lot of them. One of the orphans at the Castle Spire school, Ronny had a lot of friends as a boy, because he liked people, and wanted them to like him back. He might have been manipulating people's feelings as early as ten years old without realizing it.
He did start to realize it when a girl he had a crush on asked him out, even though he could tell that she thought one of his good friends was cuter. When she was in his vicinity, his girlfriend only seemed to care about him, but as soon as there was distance between them, she began to flirt with his friend. This kind of thing can be traumatizing for a growing boy, but Ronny handled it fairly well, breaking up with her quickly, and then dumping glue in her hair as revenge for being confusing and a girl (when you're eleven, that's generally a good enough reason).
but as he started to grow older, Ronny discovered he was getting better at telling what his friends thought about things, and soon realized that instead of just guessing, the way you do, he was actually hearing the thoughts of everyone around him. It certainly made it easier to get good grades, which was what he used it for, and sneaking out of the Spire to Ke-Hipa at night.
On a field trip when he was 15, Ronny slipped the leash with a few friends, and they went into the casino on a dare. Most of his friends knew about Ronny's talents, and one thought it would be fun to see if they could play, so they had Ronny convince the woman at the counter that they were 21 and exchange their vast resources (25 pyen) for coins to play the slots.
It worked, and although the small group lost all of its money, it unfortunately gave Ronny a taste for the atmosphere of a casino. He started breaking curfew more and more often, so he could go to Chansey's Palace and soak in the tense emotions and addiction of the players. On occasion he'd join in at the poker table, and had fun winning, as he tried to figure out who was bluffing. Since he didn't win big, no one really noticed what was going on, and he started to manipulate people's thoughts so they wouldn't try to kick him out. He was just a kid trying to have fun.
He began to experiment to see if he had telekinesis, seeing as he'd heard stories about Sabrina moving things with her mind. Pretty soon dice games became a passion of his, as he tried to wrap his mind around something as small and delicate as dice. This was when the wheels started to fall off the wagon. With poker Ronny had felt that there was something obscurely wrong with snooping in people's heads, but dice didn't have thoughts or feelings, and pushing them with his mind gave him a huge feeling of satisfaction an success. He started to win impossible throws, and get a lot of money off the house, and he was still 18.
It took the manager of Caesar's Palace several years to catch on to what was happening. The regular patron of the house seemed to vanish when he left, and no one could keep their eyes on him, or find out who he was. The security cameras couldn't pick up any switches, or changes in the dice, but something had to be going on, as even weighted dice fell in his favor.
The break in the case happened when one of the bouncers happened to see Ronny teleport into the Point, and he didn't know she was there, so he couldn't correct her memory. The next time Ronny was there, the manager called the police, who came with a houndour. One Embargo later, Ronny was in jail, and beginning to realize that what he had been doing perhaps hadn't been the best idea.
By the time his trial came before the docket, he had been charged with larceny, conspiracy, abuse of psychic privileges, and not reporting that he had psychic powers. All of these were fairly serious, but Chansey's Palace had come under new management by that time, and Caesar Morgan didn't like the precedent of sending a boy to jail for basically falling off the rails just because he had no parental control. He had kept his gifts from his teachers, but the Spire School wasn't equipped to handle psychics, and probably thought that they wouldn't meet anyone who had actual psychic powers. Ronny swore that he had never known you were supposed to report it if you had psychic powers, and go to a special school.
So, most of the charges were dropped in a plea bargain deal, that said Ronny wouldn't get any fines or jail time as long as he spent the next ten years in community service -- and coincidentally Miteinjan needed a champion, and no one was really good enough with pokemon to fill that roll. Ronny had the powers of an alakazam -- could he do it?
Ronny, like most psychics, has been bleached by the energy he wields, leaving only the strongest of colors on his body. His hair is jet black, as are his eyes, and his skin is absolutely white. He wears jeans and pastel colored t-shits, trying to make the lack of color appear slightly more normal. When he remembers, he casts an illusion to give him the light brown skin of his youth.
Requirements to Challenge
Given that there are five different leagues, Ronny is quite flexible in what you need to have done in order to challenge him.
You can:
Prize
6400 pyen (it's part of the money that Ronny stole from Chansey's Palace. Once that runs out, the Nishihara Corporation is picking up the bill)
Also, you get the title of Top Trainer for Miteinjan. You could go around, and challenge other gyms again, or you could travel to another region in Jenta.
