Ray smiled at Monet, the sentret. What a nice, behaved pokemon. She was bowing to him! How cute. He wondered if any of his pokemon would greet him trainer like that.
Yeah, not going to happen.
After standing in the trainer's box, he looked straight at Carmen his opponent and flashed her a sheepish peace sign. So she was the gym leader all along! How clever of her to disguise as an innocent maid and trick newbie trainers.
"Yeah, I'm here for my first badge! Me and my team were training for like an entire week.. I might look puney but don't take me lightly -- since all the other trainers I fought did! Big Guy, let's go!" the boy introduced his awesomeness to the first gym leader of Jenta and threw one of the pokeballs in the arena from which the machop popped out, and the ball flew back in its owner's small hands.
<I have a question.. If I win, will you give us some food too as a winning prize?> the machop asked Carmen, rubbing his tummy in a circular motion. Ray smacked his forehead. Even after eight pancakes and all that sleeping, and talks about giving his best in the first gym, he was still hungry!?
"I'll take you out to a fancy restaurant where pokemon are allowed -- maybe a nice buffet place? Only if you do your best in this battle, though," bribed the new trainer, he had learned a trick or two from watching other rookie trainers training. "Now, start off with your low kick attack!"
Big Guy nodded, all enthusiastic and focused in his battle now because of the buffet he's going to be treated to. You gotta love buffets. Ray knew bribing people and pokemon was a bad thing, but that's how some things were meant to be done. The human-shaped pokemon ran towards Monet, sliding as he almost reached it in hopes of a low kick.

Carmen nodded. A fighting type. Okay, she could handle that. It was the best type to use against, her, after all. Plenty of new trainers coming in did use it, in fact. It would hurt Monet, but he at least was less vulnerable than Cezanne, because he was lighter, and more flexible with his tail.
"All right, concentrate, now Monet!" she called out. "Hit him with your hidden power!"
The sentret took the kick in the tail. He fell hard and painfully on his bottom. Wincing, he closed his eyes breathing deeply to shove the pain back, and feel the fizzing of his power. There it lay, deep inside his mind, which suddenly expanded. He opened his eyes again, giving off a purple glow, as the psychic inner power in his body expanded and struck the machop.

Ray blinked as Big Guy was thrown away from the sentret's psychic attack. Okay, so maybe this wasn't going to be as easy as he thought. Not to self: type advantages aren't everything.
Oh my God, he felt so smart. Learning lessons in his first gym battle!
The chibi heard both his ghosts snickering from their pokeballs, apparently reading his mind. Ray groaned and chose to ignore them.
"Use your focus energy move, Big Guy!"
<What? Really?>
"Yeah, just do it!"
The machop nodded hesitantly and closed his eyes in a yoga pose. Focusing deep inside his mind and drowning in the yoga-ness thingy ma jiger.

Carmen bit her lip. That could be dangerous. If the machop managed to aim his attacks so that they didn't hit Monet's tail, he could end up doing some serious damage. Focus energy usually helped you see the weak points, and was deadly in the hands of a fighting type in a normal type gym. Still, she had the Psychic Hidden Power, which Monet was quite good at.
"Hit him again, Monet! Let's use Hidden Power!"
The sentret rapidly obeyed, feeling bruises all over his bottom, as he hopped back up on his tail to balance as still as Bug Guy for a moment. Then his eyes glowed purple once again, as he grasped the fizzing energy with his mind, and sent it out to slam into the enemy machop.

Ray winced as he saw Big Guy slamming against the ground again, "Big Guy.. are you okay?" Ray asked, concern obviously showing in his voice. That dumb hidden power move, why wouldn't that dumb sentret run out of it. Yes, Ray called that sentret dumb even though it bowed to him.
The machop was bruised in lots of places by now, his fist tightened and his teeth clenched as he got up from the hard floor and nodded at Ray's direction. "Okay, use your low kick attack now!"
Big guy nodded again, and ran towards the sentret with his leg raised. He was aiming for Monet's round belly. As the machop saw an x-ray of the opponent in his focus energy move, the sentret was vulnerable in every part of his body except its big fluffy tail that it depended on very much. The vulnerable area colored red, and its tail colored green in his psychic vision.

Monet knew what happened to him, but only because he heard the instruction from Ray two seconds before what he was sure was a truck hit him. He went flying back to hit a wall in a burst of stars and blackness.
Carmen held out Monet's pokeball, wincing. She hated to see her pokemon faint. At least this trainer was being neat, and not messing up the gym.
"Hey, Cezanne, you need t--," she called over to her sleeping zigzagoon. However, the fuzzy brown pokemon had awakened, and was glaring furiously at the machop.
<Why, why, you!> she snapped, dashing forward (and to the side, and the other side, in a blinding feat of directional changes and foot work), her head lowered. It was almost as though her spikey ears were the horns of a tauros.
"Look out for the headbutt!" Carmen called out, wanting to give Ray time to switch out if he wanted to. But he might not.

Ray punched the air happily as he won over Carmen's first pokemon. Yes, okay. Not bad. Ray wiped the sweat of his forehead and clenched his fists tightly as saw the gym leader retreating her first pokemon and sending out her next. This was way more intense and tough than he imagined, he could feel his heartbeat racing really fast.
Before the hooded boy could say or do anything however, he saw Big Guy thrown across the gym floors. "Uh, um.. Okay.. return Big Guy," Ray muttered zapping back his now really hurt and glaring-daggers-at-the-zigzagoon machop in his respective pokeball. The chibi took out another red-white sphere from his belt and threw it on the arena.
"Let's do it, Boo!"
Sparks flickered for a while and soon enough, a small orange thing appeared with his eyes closed, pretending to be this very serious-peaceful-yoga thing. But it shattered the awkward silence as it quickly revealed its mischievous blue eyes to the normal type and started laughing, <Boo! I fooled you!>
"Boo, thundershock!"
Fzzzzzzttt.

Cezanne's coarse fur looked as though she had just come through a hurricane, but that was sleek compared to the way it puffed out when the ThunderShock hit her. She yipped, a high ignoble sound, as the sparking blue shock powered through her, leaving her skin feeling awful and tingly. She started to lower her head, when Carmen shouted to stop her.
"No! It's a ghost. Use your Hidden Power!"
Cezanne snapped her jaws bad temperedly, but obeyed. She dug into herself, past her calm self, and past the spike ball off anger she could draw out, into the heart of who she was, icy cool, and dangerous, as she liked to tell Monet loftily. She drew that out, and pulled it out of the air around her, sending ice crystals whizzing at the rotom.

Boo was hit by a couple of icicles that were sent out from the zigzagoon's 'heart'. The orange ghost flinched as he was hit by them. They didn't hurt that much, but they did sting as they came in contact with his sparking body.
Boo scowled at his opponent, <you're mean!>
Ray shook his head, that hidden power was one annoying move. Handy, but annoying. "Boo, use your thunderwave attack!" the short trainer commanded from his trainer's box. The Rotom nodded poutingly and let out another wave of thunder, this time looking less intimidating than the first.

The crackle and fizz of sound filed the arena, and Carmen winced to see static caterpillars crawling over her zigzagoon's puffed out fur. Cezanne's eyes rolled in her head, and she stumbled, before falling flat on her face.
"Cezanne, can you get up?" Carmen asked, hoping her final pokemon wasn't paralyzed.
<Doe. 'm all ti'gly. Thinguh m'mouth ish bro'en,> the zigzagoon mumbled, feeling numb all over, until she bit her tongue. <Ow!>
She tried desperately to roll over and get up, but her muscles twitched and jerked, acting more like sleepy children, than bits of her own body.

[Oh, Ray had an egg.. and we warped for five days? Shouldn't the hatch egg? I think it should after the battle. Forgot to mention it earlier.)
Booboo bobbed around happily, <look, Chibi-chan! I glued him to the floor!> the electric ghost yelped excitedly, as if he had never done it before.
Ray gave a sheepish smile, "um, good job, Boo! Use your thundershock attack now," the boy said confidently. He wondered how would the battle be like if Missy was sent out to face Carmen.
The rotom nodded vigorously and gave off blue snake-shaped electricity towards his paralyzed opponent.

((You warped for 4 days, actually, but yeah, it will hatch tomorrow. So prolly when you get on the road...))
Cezanne yelped as she levered herself off the floor only to feel another surge of electricity fizzle through her. Muscles twitched and jumped in spastic flares all over her body. However, as she managed to get those twitching muscles under control. Without a thought, she reached for the ice inside of her mind, knowing what Carmen would say, even before Carmen said it.
"Cezanne, use Hidden Power!"
Cezanne grinned, and ice crystals blasted at the rotom once more.

Rotom pouted as he was welcomed by some more ice.
<Coolllddd,> Boo shivered. Ray scratched the back of his head, wondering what attack to use now. The zigzagoon's paralysis had wore off by now. "Uh, how about your astonish attack, Boo?"
The orange pokemon nodded, narrowing its blue eyes at the normal type. The ghost vanished and tackled Cezanne with great force, laughing as he came in contact with the gym leader's second pokemon.

The fact that her muscles were still twitching and jumping all over the place did it in for Cezanne. She was so busy trying to get her legs to obey her that she didn't see Boo until he knocked into her. The tackle was as bad as the sudden shock to her system, perhaps helped along the way by the pyralysis or Boo''s energy field. Cuzanne fell right over in a faint.
Carmen sighed, and returned her zigzagoon. Breathing out she walked over to Ray. "Good battle," she told him, digging in her pocket. Attached to her appartment keys, and the key for her bike lock, ten triangular flattened prisms dangled. She plucked one from the key chain and handed it to Ray. "This is the Spectrum Badge, in recognition of your achievement. Uh, if you hold it up to the light it, um, creates a rainbow? Nothing more interesting, I'm afraid. Although it does raise you to a class two trainer, which allows you to train your pokemon to level 15. Also, you can now challenge the Fire gym in Drake's Landing, which is nice. 3000 pyen will be wired to your account, which could come in handy. Anyway, I guess that's all for now. Good luck with Abersa, she can be a little difficult to get along with."
((Big Guy defeated a level 9 sentret He grew 2 1/2 levels Big Guy is now level 11 1/2 He learned Karate Chop!
Boo defeated a level 10 zigzagoon He grew 2 1/2 levels He is now level 12 1/2))
