Jason smiled as he entered the town of Sapphire City. Stooping to Flama's level, he fed her a rare candy. He also fed Spear, Aia, and Ray five rare candies. Now that all but two of his pokemon were at level ten, he headed towards the gym. "So how do you feel?"he asked them.
<Good!> all but Spear replied in unison. For her reply she slapped him in the face and turned to leave.

((Your Spearow is leaving you o_0?))
Outside by the gym and girl in an open parka was leaning on a bench and delicately licking an ice cream cone. She glanced at Jason with look that said she was utterly bored and that he should leave her alone and stop trying to infect her with cheeriness this early in the morning. Then Spear buffeted Jason with her wings and turned to fly off. The girl snorted, and rolled her eyes.
"Hey, you, trainer, can't you control your own pokemon? A weak bird like that shouldn't be a problem for a real trainer."

(Not leaving, flying ahead of...)
Jason smiled a small smile. Sitting down next to the girl, he let out a grin. "Controlling Spear is harder than it looks. She's....violent for some reason. Now if you don't mind, I'm off to challenge them gym leader." he murmured. What kind of freak wears a parka? Aren't those for places where it rains? he thought. Following Flama, Aia, Ray, and Spear in, he turned to his other pokemon. "You won't be needing to battle now so I'm letting you out for some fresh air. Go have some fun." he murmured...

((Okay... I'm assuming from this sentence: "Following Flama, Aia, Ray, and Spear in, he turned to his other pokemon." Jason went inside the gym.))
The gym was absolutely empty and echoing. The lights weren't on, but the air got colder and colder as Jason moved into the building.
~~~
On the bench outside, the girl continued to delicately lick her ice cream cone. A few minutes later a jynx came swaying over, a second ice cream in hand. The girl looked over at the blond pokemon.
"You know that stuff gives you heart attacks," she pointed out, taking another lick.
<I'm planning to go down with you,> the jynx replied lightly, before her eyebrows snapped together. <I think you have a challenger.>
"He was being presumptuous. I'll let him wait until I've finished my ice cream," the girl replied.
<Was he now?> the pokemon asked as her tongue wrapped around the ice cream cone.
"Yeah. He just randomly sat down on the bench that I was using without even asking. It's not as though he even knows me," the girl replied. "He's probably some sort of stalker-perv or something."
The jynx's eyes glowed blue, and then she raised an eyebrow at her trainer. <He's thirteen. I doubt that a thirteen year old can stalk someone who's nearly twenty.>
"Kid stalker-perv, then," Arisa shot back.
<I still think you're being harsh, Arisa. The child doesn't even know what a parka is,> the jynx replied.
Arisa began to laugh. "Seriously?"
<Gospel truth,> the psychic type responded. <He thinks it's used for a rain coat. I guess he must be from one of the warmer regions and has never seen snow before.>
Arisa began to eat her ice cream cone, still laughing. "That kid's going to be dead meat on ice, then," she smirked, standing up. "He's had ten minutes to sweat in the cold with nothing to do. Come on, Xi-Xi, you can finish that ice cream inside."
She rose from the park bench and sauntered into the gym. Reaching over just inside the door she flipped the lights on, to reveal the massive icy arena and the mini lake at the far end. "Hey kiddo," Arisa waved arrogantly at Jason. "Next time read the "out to lunch" sign by the gym door. I'm Arisa, ice master of the Sapphire City Gym. This battle is going to be a double battle if you're ready for it. You're allowed to use three pokemon, and you can switch out. You're battling for the Crystal Badge, and I will send you crying back home to your parents if you aren't prepared for this battle."
She walked over to the opposite end of the arena closest to the lake, zipping up her parka against the cold. "So, you ready to challenge me? My first pokemon are Lees," a pokeball flashed through the air, and a seel erupted onto the ice, "and Pras," the massive blue form of the lapras appeared in the lake, and she warbled a simple cry.
Jason nodded calmly. "Right let's get this started. Flama, Ray come on out!" he yelled. The two said pokemon walked from behind Jason and ran onto the feild. Smiling, Jason let out a sigh. "Let's get this over with. I have business to take care of."he murmured. Flama and Ray nodded in agreement.
Arisa sighed. "Are you really sure that was the best idea, kid? You just sent out two Pokemon with major water-type weaknesses. This is why I hate having Sapphire City close to the lab," she muttered, crossing her arms. "All right, you two! Lees, into the pool. I want you to send a Surf crashing down on both the slugma and the rhyhorn. As for you, Pras, I want you to Water Gun the...oh, how about the slugma?"
Lees barked a laugh, then slid into the pool. He resurfaced with a happy grin on his face. "<Sorry 'bout this, you two, but your trainer really should have picked better lead Pokemon,>" he said before slapping his fins down on the water. A huge, freezing cold wave of water arched up, reaching a crest above the height of their trainer, before crashing down above them.
Pras nodded, sliding over to a better angle to get at Flama. "<Such pretty fire,>" she taunted in a sarcastic voice. "<Hope you don't mind if I put it out!>" With that, she opened her mouth, and sent a torrent of water zooming towards the slugma, just ahead of the rate of the wave.
Jason let out a dead-pan sigh. If I use yawn I can easily put them out. But I have to hurry. he thought. Smirking, he turned to his pokemon. "Flama jump in the air and use yawn! Ray usehron attack!" he ordered. With a smirk he waited to see what would happen...
Flama jumped in the air and let out a yawn, sending a small ball of smoke at the lapras. Trying to land on the rushing wave, she managed to avoid the water gun only to get hit by the surf and knocked to the floor. Goraning, she struggled to get up.
Ray who had been watching from afar snapped into action. Lunging from the floor and into the water after the seel, she let out a horn attack. The water gun hit her when it should have his Flama, sending her flying into the surf attack and crashing down beside Flama. <I'm doing this...for Jason.> she couched, struggling to her paws/feet.
((Jason did you EVER read your typ match ups?! Flama has a disadvantage against water type attacks. AND RAY IS WEAK TO BOTH WATER AND ICE TYPE MOVES!!! AND she's DUALLY weak to water type moves!!!! That thing is going to FAINT from just the surf attack. 90 power water type move, helllllo, didn't you read the movesets before going into the gym? You can't have not known that one of the pokemon knew one of THE BEST water moves. GAHHHH! <bangs head against computer -- or as NN-chan would say: *headcomputer*> Just did the damage calculator on Psypokes, just for you to prove how god moddy and futile your attempt at a gym battle was. Flama: Special Defense - 16 Hit Points - 31 Ray: Special Defense - 14 Hit Points - 39 Lees: Special Attack - 16 Pras: Special Attack - 25 So, Pras' water gun hits Flama first as Pras is about a million times faster than your slugma which is one of them slowest pokemon ever invented (it's slower than rhyhorn, which has massive armor plating). Speaking of that, Pras is faster than Ray, so it's more likely that thw tater gun will hit your Ryhorn. It will deal 26 damage to Flama. It will deal 58 damage to Ray. Hmm. With only 39 HP watch what happens when a good special water type attack hits a pokemon with a special defense that is only slightly higher than their abysmal speed and has a dual weakness to water. So you saved Flama by sacrificing Ray to the KO pile. Oh, wait, there is still a surf about to hit all three pokemon in the arena. Not that Pras will care, as with the special ability "Water Absorb" she actually gains health from water type attacks. Too bad none of your pokemon that you chose have that luxury, and they could use it, since surf is one of the most powerful water attacks out there. Lees' surf will hit Flama causing 35 damge. Flama's KOed no matter how you slice it. Oh, and when Lees' surf hits Ray it will do 70 damage. Either way a surf attack will DESTROY both Ray and Flama. The water gun was extra spice. And since you picked possibly the only two pokemon that are slower than seel and lapras, they won't have any *time* to get a single attack in. They are both FAINTED, and I'm roleplaying as such. You have one last chance to defeat Arisa this time around. Other wise you're going back to Route One, and catching some pokemon that aren't WEAK to water types, and actually know some attacks that are STRONG against this gym. By the way, Flama is a good choice against Arisa, if you had the brains to save her for the pure ice type pokemon, Xi-Xi the jynx. My suggestions for other pokemon that you should catch to use against Arisa: - Shinx - Mawile - Lotad (rare, but if you find it, catch it) - Meditite (rare, but if you find it, catch it) - Riolu (rare, but if you find it, catch it) - Beldum (rare, but if you find it, catch it) - Clamperl (rare, but if you find it, catch it) Don't try to god mod like that again, Jason. Pretending that a pokemon with a dual weakness can survive an attack like surf makes me *really* annoyed.)) The surf crashed over the icy gym, slamming into both Flama and Ray with crushing intensity. Pras and Lees calmly rode the wave, landing gently a few yards away from the pool as the power drained and the water receded. The half inch of water left on the icy floor added another slick layer, even as the unconcious bodies of Ray and Flama landed near Jason. Flama was covered in a totally cooled shell of rock, the result of her magma body having been immersed in the cold water. Ray's rough plates had been worn completely smooth. Arisa yawned. "You are such a rookie, kid. Challenging two strong water types with a fire type and a rock-ground type? Slow ones at that. What did you think was going to happen? Well, bring on your last pokemon. What's it going to be, a grass type so Lees can practice his aurora beam? Oh, maybe you'll try a flying type just so you can watch the pretty icy lights deep freeze the birdie."
Jason glared at Arisa calmly. Turning to Aia, he let out a sigh. With a nod the small monkey-life pokemon bounded into the water. Bending over to the small pokemon, Jason began to wispher. " Okay this is our first gym battle. Give it all you've got." he said with a smile of encouragement. Standing up, he let out a smile.
"Aia use scratch on the lapras!" he said. The pokemon nodded and began to swim through the water towards Pras.Arriving next to the large pokemon, Aia brought down her arm for a scratch attack...
"Wait for it to hit!" Arisa commanded, smiling confidently, as the aipom swam over to Pras' side. "Lees, dive under for a moment. Pras, you know what that means."
<Gotcha,> the large lapras cleared her throat, as Lees disappeared with a sploosh.
Aia's nail's hand swung down, ripping some skin from the blue pillar-like neck of the lapras. She keened in pain, softly, her eyes watering, before launching into a crooning melody. The sound filled the arena, sending out peaceful echoes of lullabies. A sing attack, used on a non water pokemon stuck in the deep water of the pool, with a seel circling underneath.
Aia was starting to feel sleepy. The small purple monkey with cream fur on her face, arms, legs, and skin began to struggle to stay awake. Music still softly circled the monkey as she began to go to sleep. After falling asleep, she sunk beneath the surface of the water. Icy cold water began to seap into her mouth, choking her. Frantically struggling in her sleep, she began to gasp for breath.
"You should forefeit," Arisa yelled across the arena at Jason, before clapping her hands. As Pras glided into the smooth slope of the ice, Lees blasted from the depths, buoying Aia to the surface for a moment, before the seel too slid onto the icy shore.
"Aurora beam on the water, freeze it solid to keep her in place," Arisa commanded her seel, who complied, freezing cold waves of light appearing from midair to ram into the pool. The water froze, trapping Aia, but more importantly keeping her from drowning.
"Now, do Lees and Pras take potshots at your sleeping monkey, or will you forfeit?" Arisa repeated.
Jason didn't have to think as he already knew the answer. "I will never give up! But my comrads are more important then myself so I forfeit."he murmured.Aia slept on peacefully now that she wasn't drowning. Smiling, Jason plucked his pokeballs out of his pocket. Flama, Ray, and Aia return!"he said, pointing at his fainted pokemon.
"Go to the pokemon center," Arisa told him, thrusting her hands into her parka's pockets. "They'll know who sent you. And this time: try not to be a total arrogant ((like she's one to talk)) newbie -- ask a nurse for advice. They know your team -- obviously better than you do -- and they actually like helping people. Unlike me. Now buzz off," she turned to Xi-Xi, who was still finishing her ice cream cone behind Arisa. "What did I tell you? You didn't even need to be sent out for that one. Hey, Pras, Lees, now that you're warmed up let's go out back for afternoon training."
The two water types groaned.
"None of that, now," Arisa glared. "Come on, break the ice and let's go."
