Irae walked into the lab with her hands on the back of her head, and grinning like a fool on Christmas morning. She walked deeper into the lab, happily whistling and swaying her tail from side to side as her ears twitched merrily.

Professor Cherry opened the door, lookng a little bleary eyed. "'Ello there," he mumbled, rubbing his eyes. "Sorry 'bout that, I didn't get much sleep last night." To prove the old man's point, a charmander suddenly ran by, trailed by a rather speedy ekans. "<Get back here, you sssssstupid lizzzzzard!>" He hissed, lunging himself at the small fire Pokemon. He sucessfully wrapped his tail-body around the starter, and dragged him back inside. "<Got 'im,>" the snake grumbled. "Thanks Haru," Professor Cherry yawned. "He kept me up all night..." He then looked down at Irae, and blinked. "Well, what are you waiting for, come in, come in." Once he properly escorted the girl into his lab (and Haru sequestered the playful charmander), he took a good look at her. "You're...pretty short," he noted aloud before getting to business. "Now then, I'm sure you know about the group system in Jenta," he began, waving his gnarly hand in the air. "If not, I have this pamphlet, with an overview on the outside, and more detailed information on the inside." He handed Irae a slightly-crumpled pamphlet, and continued with his talk. "Now then, what Group 1 starter do you want, hm? If you want to know what I offer, the list is posted over there," the man explained, pointing to a slightly beat-up (and laminated) list posted on the wall near him. ((Yeah...the "pamphlet" is this: banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=1172265494 so you can click on that link in case you forgot to read about it. The list of starters, in case you forgot to look, is here: banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=getyourstarterhere&action=display&thread=1138767558 ))

Irae gave a small, thoughtful, frown as she looked over the list. /Well... the grouping list doesn't match the small ones I'd like... oh well./ Giving a small grin she looked over the first group of pokémon as she tapped her chin. 'Hmmm..." She continued to look over the list for a few moments before giving a small nod. "How about a Pichu?" she asked, looking back at the professor, smiling and giggling a bit.

((...How come the dragon fans never go for Charmander? @_@ ))
"Pichu?" The man asked, too sleepy to understand it the first time. After some deep, tired thought, he remembered that Pichu was a small electric mouse. "Oh, sure, we have Pichu. Is there any sort of personality you'd like? We have a few..."
Meanwhile, the charmander was effectively wrestled back into the Pokeball, and Haru slithered, exhausted, back into his cage to collapse on top of a rather perturbed Hana. Professor Cherry was too tired to even roll his eyes...

((I usually do... but I already did that one once )) Irae nodded a bit, giving a slight giggle at the wrestled down Charmander and grinned for a moment. "Hmmm... any, really, is fine," she said cheerfully. "Professor, you should really get some rest now that the Charmander's been settled down." She beams a smile and gave a slight wink.

"Heheh," he mumbled, rubbing his head. "I should. Can't, though. The Pokemon are too energetic for me...and they always get out. It's a never ending battle, eh..."
Hana looked up from underneath her companion. "<Jussssssst give her a Pichu sssssssso you can get thisssssssss sssssssleepy idiot off of me!>" To which Haru simply mumbled in his sleep.
The professor ignored him, and looked in the back. He came back out with four Pokeballs, and placed them on some rare free space on a table. After yawning, he pointed to them. "I have four Pichu. One's kind of cynical, one's kind of greedy, one's kind of power-hungry, and one's kind of lazy. Which do you want? Or would you like to meet them and see? They're all boys, by the way. Our last girl, the only remotely well-rounded one, was given away recently. There was also another boy, but he was given out awhile ago..."

She gave a small thoughtful grin before winking a bit and snapping her fingers. "Mind if I met them all?" /Power-hungry is an absolute no, for sure.../ She thought sadly, but grinned anyways and giggled at the Ekans' sleepy remark.

The professor yawned, and simply batted the boys' Pokeballs off the table.
Four similar-looking Pichu appeared, and all figured out what the heck the girl was doing.
One bouced up to her, and gave her a big (albeit slightly evil) grin. "<Hi!>" He cheered in a cute voice. "<I'm a Pichu! And you know what? I'm going to be the best fighter there is! Pick me! Then we'll defeat all the trainers and be super-powerful! Pick me!>"
Another looked at her strangely. "<You look pretty wealthy...though you're kinda short and have weird ears. But...what can you offer me? What sort of food to you give to your Pokemon? Will you give me a cut of all your winnings?>"
The third rolled his eyes at the other two. "<Oh come on,>" he spat. "<She's just a trainer. She won't do much for you...you'll go, you'll train, you'll win her a badge or two, you'll give up. Or she'll drop you for something better. Do you know when the last time a starter Pichu made it to the Underwater Arena?>"
The last one simply looked out the window. "<But it's all so much work,>" he whined in a small voice. "<Even to argue. I'd rather just go to sleep again.>"
Hana, from underneath Haru, couldn't help but smirk. "<Have fun with them,>" she giggled in a strained voice, as Haru was HEAVY.

Irae giggled a bit at the first two and gave a small shake of her head. "Hmmm... well," she started with a wide grin. "No mater who comes along, we'll be the greatest team possible." She gave a small thumbs-up and nodded, then she gave a light glare at the greedy Pichu for the comments about her height and ears. "Well... whatever we make, will go to being even better and more prepared then before, not to mention good food!" Irae grinned at the last two with a small, somewhat sadistic grin. "I'll take yah all the way to the League Champion, and nothing'll stop us as long as I can help it! We may go slow, but we'll definitely be prepared for any battle to come!" She gave another wink and giggled at the four.

The power-hungry first one blinked. She seems...a little...weak, I think. I don't think I want to go with her, he thought as he crossed his tiny arms. "<You seem too energetic to be anything really good,>" he spat, scampering back toward his Pokeball.
The greedy one also realized this was not the trainer for him. With a little "hmph", he turned his back to Irae, muttering about how cheap she was.
The cynical one glared at her, choosing to retaliate verbally. "<You honestly think you'll make it all the way to the Underwater Arena? Do you KNOW how hard that is? You need to put everything you have into it, and you STILL might not make it. And you don't look like you have it in you...there's no way any trainer would come here. They all go to Kanto,>" he simpered, muttering about how private regions were bad for the Pokemon training circuit.
The lazy one just ignored the conversation and yawned. Maybe there was something on TV...

Irae giggled and grinned widely. "Oh, we'll get there, and we'll beat it. Then we'll kick back and wait it out 'til challengers come to us!" She let out a small shout at the last statement and lightly poked the lazy Pichu.

"<Eehhhhhh!>" He whined as he retreated from her poke. "<I don't want to...>"
The cynical one, the only one who hadn't left yet, rolled his eyes. "<They're all like this. You can't win...all the starters here have some sort of personality disorder, or something. Otherwise we'd be in another region, and not a private one.>"
The professor, who was busy looking through a list of possible Group 2 and 3 Pokemon to compliment Pichu, looked up. "Did you pick one? I honestly can't tell...I should go to sleep earlier tonight, hopefully," he mused.

Irae merely grinned at the cynical Pichu and winks. "Don't believe me? How about I show you, then?!" She beamed a huge grin and twitched her ears cutely. "Come on, we'll show 'em!" She chimed the words and grins, thinking she found the one that would stick with her, even if out of curiosity. She looked up at the Professor and nodded. "Yeah, I think so... I was thinking of a dratini or a bagon... maybe both." She gave a big giggle, wink, and peace sign.

The professor smiled weakly. "Well...um...are you going with the cynical one, then?" He asked, changing the subject (in truth, he only heard about half the words the teenager said. He was really tired, after all.)
The said cynical Pichu gave a snort at being called "cynical." "<We all are...deep down. We know it won't work out, it never does,>" he mumbled.
The lazy one just kind of went to sleep.
((Do you want the cynical one, then? I can't tell...>_<;; ))

((Yeah. Cynical it is. I wouldn't make any pokémon go against their will.))
Irae nodded and lightly poked the Professor in the side a few times to wake him up a little. "Yeah. Perhaps a Bagon or Dratini to keep things a bit interesting?" She giggled mildly at her own comment before picking the cynical Pichu up and setting him on her shoulder. "I wouldn't take anyone against their will. Doin' somethin' like that just shows how weak and mean someone really is." She gave a light pout as the said the last two sentences. Smiling after, though, she gave a small cat-like purr at the Pichu on her shoulder.

The cynical Pichu gave a bitter laugh. "<Oh really, then? Fine, fine, I can't see myself getting anybody better than YOU. I guess maybe I'll get lucky, and we'll be able to win a badge or two before you lose interest,>" he mumbled as he yawned. "<Just keep me away from anything...super happy. They bug the electricity out of me.>"
The other Pichu just stumbled back into his Pokeball so he could sleep, happy that he didn't have to GO anywhere.
Professor Cherry suddenly realized her decision was made, so he guided her over to a table with many Pokedexes jumbled about, all in different colors. "One more thing before I send you on your merry way (and go back to sleep). Pokedex. Pick a color," he muttered tersely.
On the table, there were Pokedexes in orange, yellow, green, light blue, purple, brown, white, grey, and black. Irae just needed to pick one...

Irae looked over the selection of pokédexes, and grinned a bit before picking out the light blue one. "Okay," she said, smiling and giving the cynical Pichu a light pat on the head. "Don't you worry, you'll always be in the team, in one form or another. That's a promise!" She grinned widely and giggled as she watched the professor.

"Light blue it is, then," the professor mumbled before snatching it off the table and shuffling into a back room.
Three crashes, two surprised Oddish, and one strangled cry later, the professor emerged looking more exhausted than ever, but this time, with a messily-wrapped brown package in his hands. He dropped this into Irae's, and proceeded to explain it.
"This is your starter package," he mumbled, prodding the paper. "Inside you'll find your Pichu's Pokeball, five empty Pokeballs, your light blue Pokedex, a bag with an assortment of berries, a wallet with 5000 pyen - that's our currency, and two filled Pokeballs. One has your Group 2 starter, and one has your Group 3 starter."
He then guided Irae over to a map plastered over one wall. A wrinkled finger jabbed against a dot with "Professor Cherry's Lab" written next to it. "We're here right now. As you can see, there are three roads leaving my lab. One, Route 1, goes east. Another, Route 3, goes south. The third, Route 5, goes north."
Professor Cherry pulled his finger along the eastward route. "Route 1 will take you to Arisa's ice gym in Sapphire City, then Matthew's ground-type Iikagen City. Along the way you'll find an assortment of water, grass, flying, and bug types, none of which will help you at all in her gym. However, your Pichu, the one who you'd be using out of your starters, would be able to handle two of Arisa's Pokemon just fine, and unlike most, you'd have a type advantage. I would recommend this route."
He then pulled his finger south. "Route 3 takes you to Botan's grass-type gym in Florak Town. After that, you go to the tiny Wyvern Village, where Corwin's dragons live. Anyway, along the way to Florak Town you can find a variety of mountain and forest types, as well as Pidgeotto, who can help you in the gym. If I recall correctly, your Group 2 starter, who you'd be using here, has neither a type advantage nor disadvantage against grass-types. If you like what you get, travel here, if not, don't. This route can go either way."
Finally, he trailed north, toward a daunting-looking mountain range. "Route 5 takes you north up to Jenta's mountains. Along the way, you'll find ground-types and fire-types, both who will help you against Bahati's steel-types in her gym in the Settlement of Nga, deep in the mountains. After that, you go to Shing's normal-type gym in Li Jing. Your Group 3 starter, I think, doesn't have a type advantage...but then again, you can catch plenty along the way who do. Again, it's your call on this one."
Finally, he straightened up, and guided the girl out the door. "Well, don't hesitate to call if you have any questions, and good luck with your journey!" Once she was gone, he sighed happily. "Time to go to sleep!" He sang, shuffling off to his living quarters on the second floor.
From underneath the snoozing Haru, Hana whimpered. "<What about me?>"
((Aaaaand...here are your Pokemon's stats! Be sure to copy + paste this into your profile in the thread about you in the Applications board.
Pichu Gender: Male Level: 5 Group: 1 Nickname: whatever you want Ability: Static: opponent has a 3/10 chance of being paralyzed on contact Attacks: Thundershock, Charm Personality: Cynical to the extreme. He is never optimistic, and thinks his trainer is only the lesser of many, many, many evils. He's good at battling and thinking strategically, even though he thinks it's all pretty useless. He doesn't get along with others, but sometimes will resign himelf to going along with the crowd. It's useless to resist...
Eevee Gender: Male Level: 25 Group: 2 Nickname: whatever you want Ability: Attacks: Tickle, Sand Attack, Quick Attack, Tail Whip Personality: Evil. Pure, unadulterated evil. He doesn't exactly hate everybody, persay, he just likes making their lives miserable (he finds it hilariously funny). He's always biting his trainer's hand, tricking people into making mistakes, and psychologically torturing his opponents. Of course, he loves to battle...but sometimes he doesn't listen to his trainer, just to trip her up a bit.
Misdreavus Gender: Female Level: 45 Group: 3 Nickname: whatever you want Ability: Levitate: ground type attacks have no effect Attacks: Confuse Ray, Mean Look, Psybeam, Perish Song Personality: Sweet and caring. She often thinks that her two other fellow starters for Irae don't have very good personalities...and tries to make up for it by being nice. Really nice. Scarily nice. Seriously, though, will she just leave you alone? Nope. She's a little nosy, that way...nice, though. Just kinda creepy.
Aaaand...there you go! Off to Route 1, 3, or 5 with you, Irae!))
