"I'm fifteen it's about time I get a pokemon," Jule muttered to himself as he walked up to the pokemon lab. He stopped with his hand raised before knocking on the door and took in the scene. The air was as pure as he could ever remember smelling it. The grass was green, the wind was evident but light enough it only served to cool him down in the hot heat. The pokemon flew and slithered and all in all it felt like a good day.
Jule carried through and gave the door a good knocking before waiting patiently. He didn't care if it took him a few hours to decide on a pokemon, he was going to get the one that was right for him. Even if it took all day.
Which it most likely was going to.

The professor opened the door lazily, wishing a new trainer hadn't signed up to receive a Pokemon that day. He had been so close to getting a day off from inactivity on the new-trainer front, then this guy had to go sign up... Shaking his frizzy-grey-haired head, he put on a professional facial expression, and looked at the teenage boy. "Well, don't stand there all day. You're the boy who wants a starter pack, right?" Without waiting for much of an answer, the elderly expert beckoned the boy inside the laboratory, hoping to go through the process as quickly as possible so he could find out what in the world happened to that one Pokemon egg he "misplaced." Read: Hana or Hana probably ate it. He really hoped not...he wasn't sure if the egg was fertilized or not, and didn't even know where it came from... But such was the life of a Pokemon professor, he often told himself. Strange eggs often got washed away in the general mill-about of things. Focusing his attention off of the innocently hissing snakes in the middle of the room (though safely behind bars), he turned to the boy. "Now then, boy, I'm sure you know all about the group system and what we offer here. If you don't, you can look through this pamphlet on the group system," he grumbled as a rumpled brochure was shoved into Jule's hands. He then prodded a paper posted on a nearby wall. "And here is the list of Group 1 starters. I rarely give out anything else that's on the list. I've only done that once or twice, though I have given out eggs. However," his eyes bore down on the boy. "Don't expect it." Professor Cherry paused, then regained a calm professor-like attitude. "So what'll it be then, eh?" "Sandshrew, Ratatta, Caterpie, Wurmple, Slugma, Electrike, oh there's just too many to pick from!" Jule said sounding like one of those elderly ladies in a pokemart. Jule paced up and down tapping his head with his hand. Then he abruptly stopped and sat on the floor. If you looked into his eyes you would see that he was deep in though. A Ratatta had been one of his favourites, but then so did bug pokemon, so it was a hard descision.
In the back of his mind he thought about possibly getting an Azuril.
"Mr. Professor sir? Do you have any suggestions between the ones I listed above? I could be here all day and I wouldn't be any better off. I'm 15 and you would think I would know what pokemon I wanted by now," the boy said,

The professor frowned. Obviously, this was going to take awhile.
"Well," he began, peering at the list. "What are your favorite types or Pokemon to use? Besides, most of these can be caught later in some form or another. Heh, you can even find each stage of the squirtle line in the wild, two in the same area. There are only a few without a line representative in the wild. Off the top of my head, I know that charmander, chikorita, totodile, torchic, and treecko definitely do not appear wild in Jenta at any stage. I would ask if you'd want to challenge Arisa's gym first, since mankey is one of the best Pokemon for her gym, however," he pulled a Pokeball out of his lab coat. "One of your relatives or something sent you a machop to give to you in addition to your Group 1 starter, so you don't really need another Pokemon of the fighting type. However, electrike or pichu would no doubt help you with her water-types."

"Hmmm since you put it that way I'm assuming you have some Electrike left? I'd like to see them before I pick one, of course if that is okay with you," Jule said resisting the urge to sweep into a bow. Electrike could be a powerful battler and a wonderful friend.. and if there wasn't any Electrike that we're all nice and all, he could... adjust.

"I think we have a few who are," he cleared his throat, "well behaved." As he glared in the direction of his two ekans companions, the slithering forms just gave an innocent hiss.
The old man shuffled into a back room, and returned with three Pokeballs. They dropped to the floor, and three Pokemon were promptly let out.
The first grinned at Jule, his muzzle pulling back to show a few sharp teeth. "<Hi!>" He greeted, wagging his tail. "<You're a new trainer, right? Right? Right?>"
The second yawned, stretching a little. "<Well, duh,>" she retorted, giving her fellow electric dog a sideways look. "<What did you think he was, smart one?>"
The third simply looked up at the ceiling. "<I wonder what's for dinner,>" she mused in a soft voice, not paying too much attention to what was really going on.

"Hmmm tough crowd. Hard to pick (although he was looking at the third one)" he said. He stared at them all for awhile. They all looked healthy and battle ready (not that he had expected any less from the Almighty Professor) now it was just a question of which one. "A simple question for each of you. What do you want to do? Interpret it any way you want just answer the truth," Jule said as he looked at them all. The answer would be the way he picked which one was to be his.

The first one bounced up and down. "<I wanna beat the champion! I wanna beat the champion! Pick me pick me PICK ME!>"
The second rolled her eyes. "<Oh, I don't know...just travel, I guess. Battling is fine, but I just want to get out of this stuffy lab and into the company of more...intellectual Pokemon.>" She sniffed in the direction of the energetic first electrike as she said this.
The last simply smiled serenely. "<I hope we get pancakes...pancakes are nice...>"

"Alright I've made my decision. Your all nice Electrike, and I would take you all if I could (why do you have to make decisions so hard)but.... I can only take one. If its alright with you Professor I'd like Electrike Number Three" he said and smiled at the Electrike. He felt a vibe or connection so to speak with that one. And besides he had just learned to make pancakes from scratch! (I did in Home EC:))

((Mrahahah. My evil plan to turn all of Jenta into pancakes is WORKING! *brick'd*))
The first two got a little miffed and disappeared into their Pokeballs...but the third just looked vaguely surprised.
"<Oh?>" She asked in a calm voice, smiling placidly up at Jule. "<Hi there...who are you? And what are we doing?>" She paused. "<Have you ever wondered exactly why dratini are around six feet long, yet weigh under eight pounds?>"
The professor, ignoring the electrike's random question, scooped up the remaining two Pokeballs and placed them on a table. He then pointed to another table with an array of brightly-colored Pokdexes. "One last thing for you to decide before you leave, then. Which color Pokedex would you like, eh? We have red, orange, yellow, green, light blue, purple, brown, black, grey, and white. I am happy to say we finally received our shipment of red Pokedexes, though we still are out of dark blue."

"I'm Jule and I'm your new trainer if you want me to be of course. We're going to go travel the world together and have some fun and some pancakes!" Jule said winking as he did.
"I'm going to have to go with my favourite colour, yellow Professor," said Jule. Jule looked over at the two Ekans and stuck his tongue out at them when the professor wasn't looking, and smirked.

The electrike smiled. "<Oh? Sounds nice.>" Haru and Hana just hissed at the boy.
Meanwhile, the professor snatched the yellow Pokedex off the table, and shuffled into the back room. He returned a little while later (that "little while" including a few crashes and one very surprised oddish) with a lumpy, brown paper package, which he promptly dropped into Jule's hands.
"Now then, boy, inside this is your starter package. You will find five empty Pokeballs, a bag of assorted berries for the road, a wallet with 5000 pyen - that's Jenta's currency, your yellow Pokedex, and four other Pokeballs. One is empty, but it's for your electrike. Another is the one with your machop. The other two are your other two starters, one for Group 2 and the other for Group 3. Now then..."
Professor Cherry guided Jule over to a large map of Jenta plastered on a wall, and pointed to a dot marked "laboratory". "This is my lab, and where we are right now. As you can see, there are three land routes going from my lab, one going east, one going south, and one going north. You may take whichever route you want."
He pulled his gnarly old finger across the map to the right. "This route, the one that goes east, is Route 1. It takes you to Arisa's gym in Sapphire City. This would be a great route for you, since you already have two Pokemon who could easily take down her ice-types. Add some good normal-type to your team before then for back-up, and you have yourself a solid team. I would recommend this route."
He then dragged his finger back to the lab, then down south along the map. "This route, Route 3, takes you southbound to Botan's grass gym in Florak Town. You have a Pokemon with a type advantage against her pure-grass-types, and you can catch a flying-type along the way to help with the others. This is anothe recommended route."
He finally slid his finger upwards to the mountain range in the north. "Your final choice, Route 5, goes north to Jenta's mountain range. It connects up with Sunstone Tunnel, which takes you into the underground Settlement of Nga. My good friend, Bahati, has her steel-type gym there. Your Group 3 starter, if I remember correctly, may do alright against her metagross, though it has a bit of a type weakness to steel in general. However, along the way you can catch many fire and ground-types to help you. This may be a good choice as well."
After ushering Jule and his electrike out the door, he waved good-bye, calling, "have a safe trip" before shutting the door, and trying to see what exactly Hana just ate.
((Ya...so...you already know your Machop's stats, so I won't bother giving those to you. Here are the stats of your other three Pokemon:
Electrike Gender: Female Level: 5 Group: 1 Nickname: you choose Ability: Static: when the opponent makes contact, it has a 3/10 chance of being paralyzed Attacks: Tackle, Thunder Wave, Spark Personality: Nice and kind, but spacey. She often daydreams or just wonders aloud about random things. She's a good friend once she finally pays attention, and enjoys battling to some extent. She also really likes pancakes.
Koffing Gender: Male Level: 25 Group: 2 Nickname: you choose Ability: Levitate: ground-type attacks have no effect Attacks: Smog, Selfdestruct, Sludge, Smokescreen Personality: This guy is smart. He likes to have intellectual conversations, and he also enjoys reading (even though he has no arms). He enjoys the company of his teammates, and is a good friend and a good battler. He can get a bit arrogant at times, though, especially around people who he perceives as "not quite so intellectually gifted" as he is.
Anorith Gender: Male Level: 45 Group: 3 Nickname: you choose Ability: Battle Armor: opponent's attacks cannot be a critical hit Attacks: Metal Claw, Protect, Ancientpower, Fury Cutter Personality: A bit crazy. He often likes pulling practical jokes and such, laughing at others behind their backs. He likes battling, but often likes confusing the enemy even more. He has a lot of energy, and never seems to grow tired.
So choose nicknames, copy + paste them into your character's profile, and it's off to Route 1/3/5 with you, Jule-san! ^_^ ))

"Thank you professor I appreciate all the kind help you've given me! Time to go off to Route three !" he said and half skipped out of there with everything he needed. He was one happy little boy, but not really little. (I had to google Anorith
