Sapphire walked into the skyscraper before heading for the elevator. Once inside, she pressed the button with 'eleven' on it. Sapphire waited as it slowly went upwards. As it stopped, the female entered into the lab.
"Hello, I'm here to get my starter please."

Professor Edwin Cerasus looked up from a monitor and fixed Sapphire with his hard gray-eyed stare. Welcome to the Tejan Lab, young lady. This week you have several choices for starters. Of course, we have our normal starters: Slugma, corphish, bellsprout, magnemite, and rattata. However perhaps you would prefer to have one of the new starters that have been sent to Tejan this week. Your choices there are between shellos, weedle, staryu, whismur, or zubat. And of course, if you happen to be a traditionalist, you could pick chimchar, squirtle, or treecko."
A seviper came out a back room, and slid over to the professor. <I'm betting sssshe'll take the quizessss,> he hissed at the Professor, who looked obscurely affront at the lack of "efficiency" when it came to betting.
"Well, yes, you can always take the type quiz to get a random starter added to the mix, if you prefer. The form is on the counter. And if you like you can expand your choice even further by picking your favorite letter, and getting a basic pokemon that begins with said letter."
<Don't be afraid to state your preference loudly,> the seviper hissed. <If you want a certain gender or personality, for example.>

Sapphire thought for a moment about the current list but decided to add two more Pokemon on the list. Taking the paper, she looked at the first question.
She would use close up moves like bite but also long range moves like Flamethrower. Thinking for a while, she decided to tick B. The next one was easy for her since using wits can quite easily win against strenght , thus ticking C. She likes battling with strong Pokemon while using her wits. The other two were the easy ones. Ticking F and finally H brfore handing it to the Professor.
"And for the letter, I'll pick H."

"All right," Professor Cerasus looked down at a computer monitor briefly, "that gets you a hippotatas added to your choices."
<Her quiz says "seedot,"> the seviper said, as he poured over the contents.
"Good. Those are your choices. Decide on your starter, and I'll give you your starter pack."

Sapphire thought about the choices now. She was hoping for a Houndour to be added but the ground type Pokemon seeemed useful.
"I'll take the Hippotatas please." Sapphire replied. It seemed the strongest out of the group.

"Good, good," Professor Cerasus said, gathering various items from under the counter, and placing them before Sapphire. His seviper was over by a tube on the wall with a large button by it, which he depressed by pushing it with his head. With a pneumatic whoosh a pokeball dropped into a small tray directly under the tube, and the professor took it blindly.
"Now, you have your pokemon, and this is your pokedex, I hope you don't mind blue, it's all we have in stock. You also get these three potions, and five Pokeballs. I hope you enjoy your journey."

((The Pokemon can only learn four moves right?))
Sapphire smiled before taking the Pokeball and other items. Walking out, she allowed the Hippotatas to come out. It looked at her with an amused and curious look.
"I'll be your new trainer." The Hippotatas just smiled and looked around. "I guess I'll call you Karaku." Karaku looked at her new trainer before following her to the Wild Pokemon Simulation. Once inside, Sapphire looked around, wondering where she could find the wild Pokemon.
As Sapphire looked around, Karaku enjoyed being out of the Pokeball and began wondering around. Sapphire looked to see her exploring the building. "Karaku, come back." Sapphire shouted before racing over. Hearing the approaching footsteps, she raced off, thinking it as a game. Sapphire groaned before racing ahead of her Pokemon and catching her. "I guess your playfullness can help in our battles if you will listen to me." Sapphire said to Karaku who was trying to remove herself from the trainer's grip.

Since Sapphire was on the second floor the environment was that of a holographic field with a few stunted trees. Admittedly the illusion was barley real, and broke up into pixels wherever Sapphire's feet touched the illusion. And then of to her left, another area pizelated, and a sentret dashed out.
<Hi! Hi! You're on my home ground. Get out!> she squeaked.

Sapphire looked at the Sentret. It wasn't a Pokemon she was hoping to catch. She had realised that each Pokemon appear on a different level. "Ready for our first battle?" Sapphire asked Karaku who nodded and waited for his trainer's call to attack. Her special ability allowed a sandstorm to rise as the battle started. "Karaku, go and use a Tackle." Sapphire said as she charged forward.

<Aiee!> the sentret hadn't been ready for the sand that suddenly started spilling around the room.
The dark grit blasted in her face, and through her fur, making her skin feel raw. She raised her paws to her eyes to clear them of grit, when something solid and heavy smacked into her. She stumbled backwards, a deep ache emanating from the side the hippotas had hit. The sand was still blasting around the arena, pizelating the enviornment, and making it hard to see.
She knew what her job was, at this moment, and yelled loudly, her eyes glowing blue with foresight.

"Karaku, use Tackle again. The Foresight isn't going to do any damage to you." The Hippotatas hesitated as he saw the blue, glowing eyes but obey her trainer. Karaku yelled, trying to frighten the Sentret before charging straight forward again, eager to defeat her first opponent.

The solid bulk of the hippotatas crashed into the sentret again, like a power wave from the tide. She staggered backwards, feeling the cutting wind and sand ripping through her fur as the sand storm continued. Her right side was entirely numb, and her eyes were watering with tears from the grit that blasted in her face, but with the glow of foresight she was able to keep Karaku's body in sight. This time she rushed at the hippotatas to deliver a scratch attack.

Kakaru tried to dodge by moving to the side but her huge body was too slow.< Gah!> The sharp claws slashed acrossed her face as Kakaru stumbled backwards. The pain was stinging her face.<I will defeat you!> Staring hatefully at the opponent, Kakaru started to run forwards, preparing another Tackle.

Although the hippotatas was slow, and the sentret had the advantage of speed, there was simply no use in running into a brick wall. Especially one that was powering up to charge at you. For a moment the sentret and hipotatas crashed together, the smaller opponent plastered over the large mammal's face, and then she popped into the air. The arc of her trajectory was a thing of grace, her landing was anything but, causing several holographic pixels to fizzle.
A computerized voice came on over the loudspeakers.
[Congratulations.] [You have defeated a level 6 sentret.] [Your hippotatas gains 1 1/2 levels.] [Your hippotatas is now level 6 1/2.] [Another foe is coming your way. Do you wish to continue?]

Sapphire smiled as Kakaru had won her first battle. She was quite sure Kakaru was tired at her first battle. "No, I do not wish to continue" Sapphire said before returning Karaku. "Good job"
Sapphire walked out of the Wild Pokemon Simulation. She hurried to the Pokemon Centre. "Nurse Joy, may you heal my hippotatas?"Sapphire asked, hold out the Pokeball containing Kakaru.

"Certainly," the Joy at the desk smiled, and then put the pokeball on the healing machine. "Hmm, not much damage taken, and only some scratches at that. We'll have her ready to go in a jiffy," the nurse promised as the machine hummed and bliped. "I commend you on coming to us. So many new trainers push their pokemon so hard when they first get them. She is from the lab, right, and not an egg trained girl?"
The machine beeped before the question could be answered. The nurse took the hippotatas' pokeball out and returned it to Sapphire. "Best of luck."

Sapphire thanked Nurse Joy before letting out Kakaru. <That felt good> Kakaru grinned. "Come on, lets go back and catch some more Pokemon before we try the gym." Sapphire told her Starter before the two headed back to the Wild Pokemon Simulation. Once the two had reached level 6, Sapphire waited with her playful Hippotatas.

The habitat of the sixth floor was lightly wooded, with a small grassy hill rising in the center. The grass, the leaves, and textures of the bark were pixelated, but underneath were solid supports of some kind, leaving room for the trainer to walk and the pokemon to roost on the out-stretched branches.
Starly chirped and hopped everywhere, but a computerized voice warned Sapphire as one of the bird pokemon began heading her way.
[There is an opponent headed your way.] [Would you like to engage your opponent?]

"Yes I would," Sapphire answered "You ready kakaru?" <Of course I am!> The two companions waited as the small bird came closer. Once the bird was only a few step away, Sapphire gave Kakaru her commands. "Kakaru, run towards the tree and use it to push yourself into the air and once you are higher than Starly, use Tackle onto its back!" Sapphire yelled to her Pokemon, hoping that it would work.

The tree, being made of steel, rather than actual wood, did not have the resiliency of wood, or the pliability. The starly watched as Kakaru ran at the tree, and rebounded backwards, rather than up. The hologram on the tree fizzled slightly, and then repaired itself. The pokemon chuckled, slightly, and landed on a fake branch. <I say, I say, is that pokemon okay? It hit its head, I say, I say,> the bird type pointed out in its high, shrieking voice.
