Rescuing the Abused Water Lily

Celyn walked into the shelter after turning off his cell phone. Is friend, Viola, would have to quit her chatter if he wanted to avoid disturbing the Pokemon inside...

He walked up to the counter, a smooth smile on his face. "Hi there," he greeted the receptionist. "I'm here to look at the Pokemon here..." Celyn had decided to keep the oddish and remoraid with him...temporarily, and turn them in later. There was a Pokemon he had his eye on in here, and with the addition of her and his new rotom, he would still have the legal requirements for Pokemon.

"I'm a breeder, you see, so I'm pretty good with raising Pokemon." Sure, sure, blend the definition of "breeder" a bit to fit... "I thought it might be nice to take in an abused Pokemon...I feel so bad for them. They truly don't deserve their pain."

"All right, sir," the girl at the desk snapped her gum. "We don't like people to wander around down here unsupervised, I'm sure you understand. A lot of the pokemon here are unhappy, and it's not a good idea to provoke them. So if you'd just tell me if there's anyone you'd like to see in particular, I'll get one of the staff to go with you."

[Banette]

"Oh, of course I understand," he replied as he spotted a binder labeled "Shelter Friends - Please Adopt Us!" Flipping through it, he pretended to chance upon the page about Serenity - really, he had all the information about her he needed from Viola. "Hmm...may I see her? She looks so sad and tortured."

Meanwhile, inside his mind, he was trying to figure a way around two things: Serenity's apparent hatred towards everybody (why did he go for a rotom instead of a psychic?) and her brother...he didn't need an umbreon, he just needed a female eevee evolution!

"Her? Well, she's a little delicate. Bad trainer you see," the gum snapped again, and the girl sighed. "Look, I'll take you to see her and her brother. I mean, she tolerates me and the other staff workers and all, but if she doesn't like you then you should move on, all right? She's rather aggressive."

The girl moved out from behind her desk, and led the way down the wood panneled hallway, to the third door on the left. She opened it to reveal a bare room with a kiddy blow up swimming pool in one corner, and two piles of pillows in another, along with a litter box, and two food dishes. From the pillows the two eons looked up, one corner of a pillow in each mouth, obviously the two had been playing. The case was torn, and there was a distinct featheryness to the air.

The vaporeon's large blue eyes narrowed, seeing Celyn. <Whash duz he wansh?> she asked, as Anxiety, her brother dropped his pillow end sheepishly, and began to spit out feathers.

[Banette]

Celyn smiled kindly at Serenity, all but ignoring her brother. He then grabbed two Pokeballs, and opened them to let his team out. "Hi there, Serenity, my name is Celyn. I've come to visit you - how does that sound?"

One of the Pokemon to appear, a charmander, looked up at her trainer with an intense, loyal gaze. What was it Celyn told her to do? Ah yes. And whatever Celyn said to do, she would do without question...

Putting on a big, charmandery smile, Lotus waddled forward cutely. "<Hi! I'm Lotus, and Celyn's my very best friend! What's your name? Can we be friends, too?>" She giggled, grasping her claws behind her back and smiling a friendly smile. Celyn wanted her to act as nice and as friendly as possible...she had to get the vaporeon to like her and trust Celyn. So, of course, Lotus would have to do that. She couldn't disappoint Celyn after all - she'd rather die!

The other Pokemon was a lot less eager to play its role. The plasma Pokemon, Orchid the rotom, just rolled his eyes. This was another one of Celyn's ingenious ways to become the world's best breeder, or at least make a lot of money. He didn't know much about it, but he knew that if Plan A: Lotus Charming Serenity Into Liking Celyn didn't work, he'd have to help with Plan B: Using Confuse Ray in Lieu of Psychic Pokemon to Make Serenity Like Celyn (there were no code names; Orchid figured they always sounded stupid, so why not just call 'em what they were?).

But still. Orchid thought they should all just chill out. But noooooo, Celyn wouldn't chill if the world froze, and Lotus wouldn't chill if Celyn didn't. And Celyn wouldn't, so Lotus couldn't.

The hovering, sparking, ghostly ball just bobbed over to Serenity and Anxiety, but twisted his attention to Anxiety. "<Yo,>" he stated as he nodded in the umbreon's direction. "<I'm Orchid the oh-my-gosh-I'm-so-rare rotom, how's it going?>" He paused, and gave Anxiety the once over. "<Umbreon, huh? Do you have, like, insanely huge amounts of fangirls? Seriously...I'm too rare to have fangirls. But that's cool - I'm down with that. Seriously, though...those fangirls should just chill.>" Orchid nodded (or, rather, bobbed up and down in a more specific direction) to emphasize his point.

"<We should all just chill.>"

Celyn smiled at Orchid. "Of course, thank you, Orchid." I really hope he doesn't mess up...I need this vaporeon, he thought, hiding his annoyance with his rarer Pokemon.

<Um, well, no one wants me all that much,> Anxiety admitted, his rabbit-y ears, never very perky, hanging around his head.

<Feh! We don't need other people. You've got me, after all,> Serenity told her brother before returning to look at the psychotically stupid charmander. <What's your problem girl? Get a lobotomy this morning, and they accidentally removed all of your brain?>

Anxiety, who had perked up a little at the pep talk, looked over at Serenity. <'Ren, be nice.>

<I'm talking to the winner of the Flaming Idiot of the Year award. You try to enjoy her mindless drivel.>

[Banette]

Celyn paused. Plan A didn't work...but Anxiety looked sort of promising. He stepped over to the two of them, and smiled at Anxiety. If he got her brother to like him... "That's horrible. You seem like a wonderful Pokemon - just looking at you, I can see you are a prime example of an umbreon. You have healthy, shiny fur - always a good sign, your build is very muscular, though light enough to be effective, and your eyes are clear and alert." He looked back at Serenity. "Don't you think so, Miss Serenity? You too are a wonderful looking Pokemon. Very elegant, powerful, and in a prime, healthy condition."

Meanwhile, Orchid got the hint. Rolling his eyes, he released a Confuse Ray on Serenity. He sent a light plasma disturbance out toward the vaporeon, hoping to confuse her into "liking" Celyn...

Lotus just frowned. Why didn't her part work? She had to help Celyn! So she walked over to Anxiety. "<I'm Lotus...I think you're cool. Both you and your sister...why did your sister call me stupid, though?>" She figured distracting Anxiety would...help...

<Um, well, thanks?> Anxiety looked back and forth between Celyn and Lotus, confused as to whom to speak to. <Well, I -- er, that is -- Serenity is a nice person, but,>

Serenity raised her muscular body from the remains of the pillow, dazedly, and turned around several times, like a cat looking for a place to sit. <Look,> she told the wall with all the conviction of someone who knew that the wall would speak back to her, <the charmander's an idiot. I mean, really, what kind of soppy piece of tauros dung would go up to someone and say "let's be friends?" As if friendship ever got you any where. Hah! She giggled, naive little bimbo.>

<Um, sis, sis? Are you all right?> Anxiety asked, trodding over to the mermaid like pokemon, and trying to feel her brow, before she slapped him away with her strong tail.

Anxiety looked up at his twin, his ears flat to his skull, his tail between his legs. <What's going on?!>

[Banette]

Celyn paused. "I'm not sure," he went over, and felt Serenity's head (while hoping she wouldn't bite him). "She feels okay...has she been sleeping alright? Or maybe it's a hormonal thing...stress? Sometimes stress can affect certain hormones." He glanced at Lotus. "Do you have some seaweed with you? The plain kind, just dried, not salted."

Lotus nodded, and dug through Celyn's bag. She then brandished a sheet of dried seaweed, which Celyn then ripped a piece off of and handed to Serenity. "There are some natural aspects of seaweed that can help water Pokemon under stress. Granted, Lotus just likes to eat it when she's feeling crampy, but the effects are more widespread for water-types. I guarantee you it's not treated with anything."

Lotus just pouted...she didn't like being called stupid in front of Celyn. All the while, Orchid kept sending out small disruptive waves at Serenity.

<Thanks, I guess. 'Ren, eat it, it's good for you,> Anxiety begged.

Serentiy, who had looked up at Celyn in confusion when he checked her temperature, turned her head away.

<'Ren, please, please, eat it,> Anxiety asked.

Finally, after a few more tries where she twitched away from Celyn at the last minute, Serenity did finally accept the seaweed and began to munch.

[Banette]

Celyn smiled, stroking Serenity's fur. "See? It's good, right? Do you feel better?"

Lotus sat a little ways away, feeling depressed. She wasn't doing much to help Celyn.

Orchid decided to lessed the Confuse Rays, and let Serenity make some sort of coherent sentence. He still sent them out, though.

Serenity shook her head. <Yeah, I do, actually,> she said in a few moments, sounding utterly surprised.

<Great!> Anxiety perked his ears right up. <That's wonderful. Thanks.>

[Banette]

Celyn smiled. "Oh, it's nothing..."

He paused, and looked at Lotus and Orchid, then back at Serenity. "Well, I don't know if this is the best time...but how would you feel if I asked you to come with us? You have my word I won't hurt you."

((AGH BAD POST *dies*))

((It's been a week...so I'm gonna take over and end this. ^_^;; ))

Serenity felt really sick. Her head was spinning...was it the rotom? She could barely fell herself talk and hear the ground below her - no wait, that wasn't right...

She mumbled a few words, though she had no clue what she was actually saying. Her head felt like jelly.

Anxiety's eyes widened. "<Yeh, 'd love ta go with yuuu...>"

Before the umbreon could say anything, one of the attendants came up to Celyn. "I'm afraid that if you want to adopt Serenity, you'll have to adopt Anxiety, too. They can't exist without each other. Anxiety?" She looked at the umbreon. "Is that okay with you?"

The umbreon looked helplessly at his sister. What was wrong with her? She wanted to go willingly with that human! Didn't she remember their old trainer?

"<Well...Ren, do you...really want to go with this man?>" he asked shakily. He was torn. The man looked fake, but he couldn't just let his precious sister go with somebody without any protection!

She smiled. "<Yeeeahhh...Anxi...ety!>"

The umbreon bit his lips. "<If Serenity wants to go, I have to go as well.>"

[Banette]

Celyn paused. He hadn't been planning on this. He exchanged a quick glance with his two Pokemon (while Orchid still broadcasted the confusion toward Serenity), and sighed. Well, if she would be more cooperative with Anxiety around...

"Sure, I can take them both. 4000 pyen for both of them, right?" He fished out the correct number of bills to cover the two and his trainer card, and handed them to the attendant.

[Nyaa-Neko]

The attendant smiled, took the money, and came up with two Pokeballs. Both Anxiety and Serenity were put back inside their respective capture devices, and then handed over to Celyn. "Thank you...I hope it works out!"

However, she is a talented battler, and would be very good with the right trainer.

Personality: Anxiety, a shiny umbreon, was rescued with his twin sister from an abusive trainer. Both the twins can't exist without each other, and are emotionally unstable when apart. Anxiety is the more stable of the two, and generally more forgiving. He gets depressed when apart from Serenity, and blames things on himself (he needs her temper to give him his "ego" back). He's good at battling, but can be a handful...keep in mind that Serenity definitely doesn't get along with everybody (so you might not get her), which means that, if Serenity doesn't like you, your chances of scoring Anxiety are pretty much nil.))

Celyn smiled, nodded, and took the Pokeballs. "I hope it does, too. Thank you very much," he thanked, before turning to Lotus and Orchid. "Well then, let's take our leave." He held up the Pokeballs, and returned his two other Pokemon. Celyn bowed a bit to the staff, then exited the floor.
