(I am SO going to Pun Hell...)
A portal opened at the start of Route 3. Lawrance fell from it, hitting the ground headfirst. This was almost immediately followed by an obscene statement directed at Abra as he stood up.
"Ugh, well, I guess it's onward to Route 3..." he muttered as he walked off down the route to the next town.

He walked straight into the grasslands, where he was met by a sentret. The sentret looked up, a bit bleary-eyed. "<How come you're up so early?>" Indeed, it was around seven in the morning.

He stared down from where the voice came from."Because I can't sleep otherwise the various crazy Pokèmon around here will murder me." he responded. "Doesn't that worry you?"

"You're a better man than I." he commented. He crouched down and got a closer look at the Sentret. "You look familiar... Weren't you one of Whiney's Pokèmon in Johto?"

The sentret raised a furry eyebrow. "<No...I've never been to Johto. I'm Jenta-native.>" He paused. "<Well...if you're going to attack me...don't you want to train, or something? That's what you people do, right?>"

"I also catch Pokèmon." he said, tossing a Pokèball. From the ball came a purple fuzzball. "Venonat, Supersonic!" he commmanded.
Venonat opened its mouth and released a supersonic screech.

The sentret grimaced as he heard the loud, high-pitched sound. He tried to open his eyes - but wait, that wasn't right. The sky was up, not left...
Nevertheless, he teetered forward, and somehow managed to hurl himself at Venonat with some sort of Slam attack.

Venom was struck hard by the attack, but managed to bounce back.
"Venom, Poison Powder!" commanded Law.
Venom shook his fur, which released a purple powder. Said powder floated toward the Sentret.

The sentret coughed as he inhaled the poisonous powder. Needless to say, he felt a little sick afterword.
He managed to fight his way through the confusion with another Slam.

Venom tried to sidestep the attack, but was struck in the side.
"Venom, Confusion!" commanded Law.
Venom's eyes gave a dim shine as its psychic abilities surfaced in a Confusion attack.

The sentret shook, and then an invisible force threw him back. "<Wow...headache,>" he muttered as he tried to right himself.
And failed. His Slam hit a rock...which certainly didn't help his headache get better.

Venom and Lawrance stifled a laugh as the Sentret slammed into the rock.
"Venom, use another Confusion!" commanded Law when the laughter subsided.
Venom's concentration was a bit off because of his laughter, but he managed to pull a Confusion out somehow. His eyes glowed once again as his latent psychic ability manifested itself in another blast.

((Yup. Shasta. Made it today, all in Photoshop Elements 3. Mascot pride, yo. ^_^))
The sentret then keeled over, defeated.
Lawrence's Pokedex beeped. "Your level 25 venonat has successfully defeated a wild level 25 sentret. Venonat gains 1 level, putting it at level 26. Would you like your venonat to learn Psybeam? Currently, it knows Supersonic, Confusion, Poisonpowder, and Leech Life."
((I figure I'll be nice...in DP, they learn Psybeam at level 25. In the older games, it's much later. ^_^;; ))

"Well, that's a first... My Pokèdex asked me a question." he commented as he tossed a Pokèball at the Sentret. "I suppose getting rid of Supersonic won't cause much of a problem."
"<Yay for Psybeam!>" shouted Venom. "<Just one glare and BAM! Confused AND hurt!>"
"Confusion does the same thing..." commented Law.
"<Yeah, but Psybeam looks cooler.>" responded the purple puffball.

The Pokeball wiggled a bit, then was still.
Lawrence's Pokedex beeped when it finished compiling the stats. They were:
Sentret
Gender: male
Level: 25
Group: 2
Nickname: you choose
Ability: Keen Eye: accuracy cannot be reduced
Attacks: Fury Swipes, Helping Hand, Follow Me, Slam
Personality: Kind of serious, but kind of spacey. He likes to state the obvious, but usually he only does this when asked a question. Generally he just sits on his tail, observing the world around him in a calm manner...which leads to a really bad reaction time. You have to hit him repeatedly to get him to see you're talking to him.

They then stumbled into one of the forested areas, and were met by another sentret. This one, a female, flexed her muscles and stretched as soon as she saw the party.
"<Care for a battle?>" she asked in a cute-with-evil-undertones voice.

"I think we are..." said Lawrance.
"<Gimme your worst!>" shouted Sentret.
