"<Hamako, look out!>"
"AIII!"
There was a scuffling of shoes as Hamako staggered backwards, away from the rocky cliff face that had seemingly come out of nowhere.
Clutching her shuckle to her chest, she whimpered. "I can't believe how quickly this route changes...maybe it was a mistake leaving Route 1..."
Her Pokemon looked worriedly up at her. "<Hamako, are you alright? Do you need some berry juice?>"
The girl brightened up. "Nope! I'm fine, Iwa-jisan. I just need to catch my breath."
Behind them, a large purple snake slithered up with a smaller green bug on his head.
"<Oi, you're kind of stupid,>" the snake, Vael, muttered. "<You need to look where you're going, or you're going to kill yourself. I can't exactly see you falling off a cliff an entirely unlikely possibility...>"
The caterpie on top of the ekans' head gave a "hmph." "<Vael, you need to be nicer to Hamako. And Iwaou! Please try to help our trainer from falling off cliffs. We need to get you motivated somehow...>"
Iwaou rolled his eyes. "<If it came to that, yeah I'd do something...but I can't do much, so why bother?>"
Hamako just smiled happily, walking with Iwaou in hand across one of the many rocky areas of Route 3. Traveling with her team was so much fun! And very exciting, too! She couldn't wait to brag about it all to her big sister.

((Heheh. Sounds like Mini-Member. Yay for alliteration! *brick'd* Yes please, even if it means losing the power of the awesome green star.))
Stones and pebbled shuddenly showered around them. From the slope above Hamako and co. somthing brown and bleached bone white hurtled down toward them in a blur of speed. It landed in the road, and momentum would have caried it down the cliff, if it had not jammed the stick it was carrying into the ground and used the stick as a pole to spin around in a half circle, until it was facing the human and her pokemon.
Their visitor turned out to be a cubone, who grasped his bone tightly, and tugged it from the soil. It raised the former femur up and glanced around it, grinning wildly. <Thwakathwakathwaka!>

Hamako blinked. "Um...hi?" The blonde asked, waving weakly.
Mushishi looked at him quizzically. "<Is he...alright in the head? Or...uh, skull, rather?>"
Vael and Iwaou, on the other hand, chose to remain silent on the subject, one because something that stupid-sounding wasn't worth even a snide remark, and the other because he had fallen asleep.

The cubone ignored this remark, for it did not suit him at this time to hear such a remark. <I am the great thwaking cubone. I know. You may bow before me.> He stretched out his hands ceremoniously, and tilted his head upward, as if expecting applause of some sort.

Hamako giggled. "Thwaking? That's a funny word!" Jumping up a little, she raised her hand. "I'm Yamamura Hamako! I'm twelve years old, blood type O, and I'm from Johto!"
Iwaou snored, and grunted in his sleep as Hamako almost dropped him.
Her ekans hissed, bored. "<Why bother saying your blood type? It's not as if you need more blood,>" he retorted.
She paused. "Oh. Well, a lot of times people say their blood type. I wonder why?"
((Have you ever noticed that in manga, they always say their blood type or something when they introduce themselves? Like, some useless information?))

((That's because in Japan many people believe that blood type tells you something about that person. The way we believe that astrological signs mean something about someone. ^^)) The cubone was non-plused. <Well, I suppose my blood type is AB. Does that help?> He shook his head. This was no concern of his. And why weren't they bowing? He was sure he'd given them permission to aknowledge his greatness. <Anyway, that doesn't matter! The point is that I'm better than you are, and you'd better believe it.> |

The girl only heard the first part. "AB? Wow! That's cool! Blood type O is boring...but AB is cool because it has TWO letters!"
Vael dropped Mushishi off his head (who gave a "hmph" and crawled over to Hamako's leg), and slithered over to the cubone. "<Well, well, well, so we have a prideful cubone, here.>" He grinned, showing his growing fangs. "<Hamako, should we teach this 'powerful' Pokemon a lesson?>"
She paused, tapping a finger against her lip. (She also put down Iwaou, since she came very close to dropping him, and put Mushishi next to him, so as not to step on her.) "I dunno...aren't you weak to ground-types? Aaaargh! I should have paid attention in school..."

<Of course he's weak to ground types,> the cubone said, smacking the snake across the nose with his bone. <Everything is weak to ground types. They just can't handle the greatness that we exude. The magesty, the power.>
He didn't seem bothered by the fact that when Vael reared up the ekans was taller than the dinosauric cubone.

An hour later...
...
The wind blew. The cubone looked around, grasping at his head. Oh man, something had knocked him out...
He got up, and looked around. That girl and her three Pokemon were gone. Nothing weird about that, they could have knocked him out and left, since that's what all trainers -
Hold on. The cubone looked at something wedged behind a rock. It was a bag...and two Pokeballs...
And there was kicked up dirt...and a little blood?
The ground-type tensed up, looking around nervously. This wasn't normal...
He heard an angry rustling, then ran away, leaving the bag and the two Pokeballs.
And then the cliffs were silent.
