Terra checked carefully if she looked okay. After all, it was an important day for her. She smiled at her reflection as she observed herself.
She was wearing a black long sleeves sweater with a matching black mini skirt and hot pink outlines around it. She also wore fingerless black gloves and rolled a long black-pink scarf around her neck that dropped till her waist. Her cross necklace hung from her neck as always and swaved with the wind. She remembered how she got that from her mother at a very young age.
Her hazel eyes were outlined with a black eyeliner and her long golden strands swaved back and forth neatly. She was always judged by her appereance, she remembered. But she didn't really care what people had to say because she felt comfortable in what she wore. She then stood, making her reflection on the lake vanish away. She clasped her hands and rushed of to the lab nearby. Her high-heeled boots making large thumping noises as she passed various bushes, trees, and small buildings.
Thump, came the voice of her hand hitting on the door. She bit her lip and waited for the answer.

The elderly professor of the Jenta region looked up from a box filled with restock pokeballs. Trainers always came at the wrong times, didn't they? "Hana, see who is at the door, will you?"
<I would Professor Lazy,> Hana hissed from the chair by the computer, as she went through Corwin's letter to the professor about strange mutations in dratini, and carefully edited out the wanton cruelty to the common comma that Corwin (comma) so readily employed, <but I have this slight condition where I have no opposable thumb, with which to open the door with, and that even balanced on my tail I cannot wrap around the knob, and twist it open from the floor.>
The professor sighed, and put down his crate. It had been one of those days.
He opened the door, so see a girl wearing utterly impractical clothes for running around in brush and field, but that seemed to be normal nowadays. At least this one wasn't wearing leather, which didn't keep the rain off, got caught and torn on everything, and would grow mold three days into typical Jentan humidity. But it was fashionable to be a trainer, these days, and the profession unfortunately attracted those who believed in fashion, as well as those who genuinely felt connected to pokemon. The real pity was when the two interests collided, and someone who really cared about pokemon stopped training because they got sick of being miserable and uncomfortable in clothes that shrunk in the rain, made them sweat like crazy in the sun, and got them frostbitten when it snowed.
"Hello," the Professor smiled, abandoning his thoughts. "You're here for your first pokemon, right?"

Terra gave a small but a nervous smile. She bowed down and quickly hid her hands behind her back, for she was scared that the professor might not like seeing that the new trainer has black nail polish on. Because it gives a bad impression and he was the guy who was suppose to give her, her first pokemon.
For a moment, she was so nervous, she thought she might just forget about being a trainer and turn away and run back to wherever she came from. But as she was about to shift her weight, she then caught a gimplse at the female Ekans that was standing a bit of a distance from the professor and she remembered how she took care of a few in the shelter with her grandmother. She remembered how her grandmother was hoping very much for her to start this journey and was proud of her that Terra herself, wanted to stand on her own two legs and begin a journey. And she didn't want to let her down. Not after what she has done for her. At once, she felt her spirits lifted in no time again.
She looked back at the professor and gave another one of her nervous smiles. "My name is T-terra, Terra Roswe-...Terra Bailey." she said after quite a pause. She didn't want to go by her old name anymore. She had to move on. Alot of bad memories started flooding in her mind but she fought them off quickly. She tightened her fist and looked up with determination.
"Yes, I would like a pokemon."

((Sorry this is late...)) The professor nodded, and ushered the girl inside. "Yes, yes, of course you do, eh? Now then..." He peered over to a stack of papers conveniently located near the door, and grabbed one of the slightly-bend pamphlets off the top. "I'm sure you know about the group system, but if you don't," the pamphlet was promptly shoved into the girl's...arm, since she was hiding her hands, "you can glance through this. On the fron page there is a quick overview, with a more in-depth look at the system inside. Now then," he paused, and led Terra over to a list tacked up on the wall. "Basically, all you need to know for this jaunt through the lab is this - you get three Pokemon. There are three groups of Pokemon, and you get a starter from each group. You get one Pokemon at level 5, one at level 25, and one at level 45. Your Group 1 starter, the level 5 one, is the one you get to pick - the other two are almost completely random." He gave a blue-eyed look down at the girl. "So I don't expect to hear any whining..." "<Whiner babiesss are alwaysss dealt with in a fun way,>" Hana hissed happily. Professor Cherry ignored her. "So, this list here, these are the Group 1 starters you may choose from. As you can see, we in Jenta are beginning to introduce Sinnoh-native Pokemon to the region...so you came just in time to catch the first try. In addition to all our old starters, we're offering the standard Sinnoh starters as well." He prodded the list. "So, if you want to here them all...we have quite a few Pokemon, and in a variety of types. I don't feel like reading the list, but as you can see, we have normal-types, water-types, fire-types, grass-types, electric-types, ground-types, flying-types, dark-types, steel-types, poison-types, rock-types, bug-types, and fighting-types. Of course, you can still have a chance at getting dragon-types, ice-types, psychic-types, or ghost-types, but just not as a Group 1 starter." He then paused again, looking to see what sort of effect his rather verbose explaination had on the nervous-looking girl. ((The "pamphlet": banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=1172265494The "paper on the wall": banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=getyourstarterhere&action=display&thread=1138767558If you have any questions, feel free to ask...but welcome back, Yuri-kun. ^_^ Oh, and would you still like that shiny spheal you had from the Jenta Revival Giveaway way back when? It knew some standard spheal attacks...and Sludge Bomb. ^_^ Technically, since you were an old member, I could give you the spheal as a Group 2 starter (since that was how it worked when I switched the system around...people got to keep one or two of their Pokemon as "starters", and the rest would go in the PC. Since the spheal would have been a higher level than your "normal" starter, it would get bumped up to level 25...or 30, I guess). However, you don't have to take it...or I could just have it randomly appear in your PC. Like, as a prezzie from your grandma. It would still be level 10, though. ^_^;; ))

[ Hello Ame-Chan! ^-^ Hmm...I think I would like to just get a fresh start. But the prezzie thing sounds nice. ;D So could please just randomly make it appear in the PC? SINCE, YOU KNOW, IT WAS A GIFT FROM AME-CHAN ANYWAY! ]
Terra's eyes widened in surprised as the professor rushed her and shoved a pamphlet in her arm. She held the pamphlet in her hands but instead of reading it, she handed it back to the professor almost immediately. "I-...I would like a Totodile." she said instantly.
Now, if you knew Terra's past, one would think that she would go for a hondour instead of a totodile. But even though her first pokemon and friend was the hondour, she preffered to keep it that way. As a long-term memory or as a horrible dream. Why? Because she promised her self to not bring up the dark past and instead, she remembered the first pokemon that she saved and took care of in the shelter while helping her grandmother run it.
A totodile. The first pokemon that she helped back to get it's life. During the healing period of that pokemon, she felt herself getting more and more attached to that pokemon. But when, he was finally cured of his bruises and injures. A trainer had come and adopted him.
( I miss my gold version, totodile so much! ;_;...Even though, the Sinnoh starters look tempting, I'd rather choose a pokemon that I know about than a completely new one. You know, since it's my VERY FIRST starter-Well, not mine but Terra's. She's pretty smart gal. I don't mind having the Sinoh starters in my team though. ^^]

((That works. ^_^ Do you want it to be level 10 (Group 1), level 30 (Group 2), or level 50 (Group 3)? Just right now, I'd recommend level 30 (Group 2), since it would give you an advantage at those two gyms, and then you could level it up to Group 3 for Bahati's gym...but you might wanna wait to see which other Pokemon you get, so you can balance out your team. -.- And hey...I'm a Johto fanatic. Anybody who picks a Johto starter (I love all three of them SO MUCH) is teh coolzorz in my book. ^_^ YAYZ FOR GENERATION 2! I want Johto remakes (or, better yet, spinoffs or something with a new plot) sooooo badly... Technically Pikachu is my very first starter. ^_^;; I got Yellow first...)) "Totodile? Sure. Do you have a preference for the gender and personality? You may choose to meet the ones I have available first...or you could narrow it down by telling me what you're looking for. I can't guess personalities, or which sorts of Pokemon to match up..." Professor Cherry peered at Hana. "And believe me, sometimes I wish I'd requested better personalities when picking my first Pokemon." "<I love you, too, Professsor,>" Hana hissed playfully as Haru snoozed in his cage. ((Blergh. Spam-mod post...gotta stop doin' that spamful writing. -_-))

[ It's k, I mean, we are here to socialize, aren't we? Anything's okay, whatever you think is best about the Spheal thing. And I really am hoping for a remake of Gold/Silver versions! I wanna play it all tweaked up. By the way, my first starter was Baulbasaur...From Pokemon Blue ^^ and I was often made fun of because, no one in my class liked him and everyone thought that Baulbasaurs were for girls ;__;...But yeah, I still love Baulbasaurs! XD Oh, and I'm expecting intresting natured-starters from you.] Terra gave a little laugh at the humor of the snake pokemon and gave a good natured smile for once. Terra finally felt the environment easing up a bit. "Anything's fine, professor. I use to work in a breeding shelter with my grandmother. So, I can handle almost about anything." She said, eyeing the two snake pokemons. Were they the professor's pets?

((Well, as you can see..."interesting"-natured Pokemon are what I do best, apparently. However, some other members *coughIraeRuin* wish, I think, that I came up with less "interesting" Pokemon. Or so they tell me. XD ))
"Alright...I'll go find one when I get your other Pokemon for your starter set. I think I have one that's been here since a long while before I got the others...nobody wanted her, eh?" He then led Terra over to a table with an array of differently-colored Pokedexes. "You need to choose the color of your Pokedex. Would you like pink, orange, yellow, green, light blue, dark blue, purple, brown, white, grey, or black? We used to have red...but I got pink when I ordered the new shipment. But you can always buy some stickers to jazz 'em up, eh?"

[Critics critics. >> << >>]
Terra bend over a little and her lips streched into a wide smile as she saw the variety of the pokedexes. There were so many to choose from!
"I would like the black one." she said after a while of thinking. The black pokedex looked stylish and it suited her the best. While she stared at the random colors of the pokedexes, she thought about how her starters would be and how would they coope with her in her journey.
[Sorry for the small posts, I can't think of anything to add. XD]

((S'okay. If I called you off for it, not only would I be a hyprocrite...but hey, should see what SOME members post when the DO "think of things to add". *cue the eye roll of your life* Seriously people, you should be able to do three sentences per post really easily. In a battle...just do one sentence describing the hit, one of dialogue ordering the next attack, and one carrying it out! IS IT TOO MUCH TO ASK? >_<;;;;;;;;;;;;;;; (Maybe...) Anyway, be very afraid...this is the Final Mod Post of Doom. *sigh* So long...@_@)) The professor nodded, picked up the oh-so-stylishly-black Pokedex, and shuffled into the back room. Three crashes, two stifled screams, and one very surprised-looking dunsparce later, he came back holding a brown paper package (and his hair looked as if it was smoking). Professor Cherry handed the package to Terra, then poked it with his wrinkly old left pointer finger. "This is your starter package. Inside it, you'll find your black Pokedex, a bag of assorted berries for on-the-road healing, a wallet with 5000 pyen - that's the currency of Jenta, five empty Pokeballs, and three filled ones. One has your Group 1 starter, your totodile, in it, one has your Group 2 starter, and one has your Group 3 starter. Now then, follow me," he instructed as he lead the girl over to a large map of Jenta. He prodded the dot near the west coast of the island, sort of in the middle in terms of latitude. "Now then, we're right here. See, it says 'Jenta Laboratory'. As you can see, there are three roads that meet at my laboratory - Route 1, Route 3, and Route 5. You may choose to take any one of the three as your first route. Jenta is split into three sections, the east, the south, and the north, with each section having two routes and two towns - or, rather, two gyms. So after you get two, and want to stop by on your way to another route, you may..." The professor dragged his finger along the eastward road. "This is Route 1, going into the first eastern city, Sapphire City. In Sapphire City you'll face Arisa, the ice-type gym leader, and after that is Matthew, the ground-type leader. You'd be using your totodile here, which may help in the first gym in terms of defense - definitely in the second - but you'll need to back her up with some offensive players. Along the way, if you stop off in the Mushroom Forest, you can find a mankey to help you...and we're working on introducing some Sinnoh electric-types to the route. This may be a good route to start with." He then pulled his finger back to the laboratory dot, then down. "This one is Route 3, the road that leads south. It's first stop is Florak Town, where Botan has her grass-type gym. Now, your Group 2 starter, the one you'll use here, will have an easy advantage, and there are some birds to catch along the way to back it up. I would recommend this route." Finally, he traced the lines up past the laboratory to the north. "Your final choice is Route 5, a more mountainous route that not only treks up the mountain, but inside it. The Settlement of Nga is inside Jenta's northern mountain range, and you'll find Bahati and her steel gym in there. Your Group 3 starter...well, it could go either way. You might have a good battle if you teach it Earthquake...anyway, along the route you find many fire-types and ground-types to back you up, so it doesn't matter. This is actually one of the easier routes, in my opinion, since it gives you a lot to choose from to build your team with." Professor Cherry nodded, then looked back to Terra. He actually was rather impressed with the girl...would she...? Nah, he'd ask later. That's what cell phones (and messengers, when cell phones didn't work out) were for. So he simply ushered the girl out the door with a grunted "have a safe journey", and went back to his research/trying to get Hana to give up the computer. ((Nya. So that's it, desu nya. ^_^ And I gave you all Johto pokeymanz. X3 (But no chikorita...I must find a way to give you a chikorita! Then you'd have the whole set!) So here are the stats, put them in your profile, yadda yadda: Totodile Gender: Female Level: 5 Group: 1 Nickname: you choose Ability: Torrent: when health is low, water-type attack power rises Attacks: Scratch, Leer Personality: Kind of spacey...and she talks with an accent. (Technically it's Kansai, but for the purposes of this, it's southern.) She's always spouting random comments that have nothing to do with what's actually going on, and often starts with "<Ah've been thinkin'...>" However, she's very sweet (albeit spacey) and is easy to make friends with, once you get over the fact that she doesn't really listen to what you say. Cyndaquil Gender: Male Level: 25 Group: 2 Nickname: you choose Notes: shiny! Ability: Blaze: when health is low, fire-type attack power rises Attacks: Leer, Smokescreen, Ember, Quick Attack Personality: Sort of antisocial. He doesn't really like any of his teammates, and often acts all moody around them. He'd rather be alone...plus, he always gets annoyed with his teammates. Sometimes he gets a bit snappy, though he does battle well (he takes out his moody-ness on the opponent). However, put him near any sort of baby, and he totally melts/becomes the adoptive father-slash-older-brother-slash-uncle-slash-whatever. Gligar Gender: Male Level: 45 Group: 3 Nickname: you choose Notes: shiny! Ability: Sand Veil: evasion increases in a sandstorm Attacks: Sandstorm, Faint Attack, Slash, Screech Personality: Very excited to be on Terra's team. He's obsessed with Terra, and is, to quote, "Terra's Number One Fan". He always wants to be out and talking with Terra, battling for Terra, or boasting about how he's on Terra's team. He talks quite a bit, and sometimes doesn't catch on to what's actually supposed to be going on. However clueless he is, well, hey, he's easy to get along with...especially if you're Terra (sometimes he ignores everybody else). Hope ya liked 'em. ^_^;; Any-nya...OFF TO ROUTE 1/3/5 WITH YOUUUUUUUU! And the spheal is in your PC (so you can get it whenever you get to the first town). I bumped it up to level 30, though...blame the number generator, I love that thing...-_-))

[ Yaay! Thankoo! I <3 them all. Very unique indeed ^^. And my Cyndaquil and Gligar are all shiny and stuff! ] Terra lost her balance as the professor prodded her out of the lab. She tripped and fell on the ground. Her brown bag--the one that the professor handed to her-- slipped out of her hands and fell on the ground as well. She could here all the stuff rolling about on the surface. She slightly groaned in pain as she rubbed her head. "Okayy....He could have just opened the door for me." she said as she stood up and started to brush the dirt from her outfit. As she continued to dust herself, she heared some murmering behind her. She immediately turned around to see the pokeballs fully open and empty. And suddenly, her eyes widened. [Me going to zeh route now. Thank you for modding my lab thread! ^^;]
