I don't know if I should be the one to do this, looking at my track record, but someone had to do it.
I have been watching the reports coming out of Virginia Tech, and I think that all of us should reach out in our thoughts and prayers to the families of those that where killed, those that survived, for they shall never forget it.
They say that everyone remembers where they where when 9/11 occured, I didn't lose anyone in either of these tragedies, but these memories will be forever seared in my mind, because I dare to remember.
I dare to remember that no matter what, everyone of us is still mortal, and it is points in history such as this, that we must not stand divided. America must never forget what events transpired on this day.
I myself, being a pacifist, a socialist, and a christian, know that this won't just be a time for anger and mourning, this must be a time for forgiveness.
The first step towards healing in this time of crisis, is by first forgiving those who have wronged us. We need to pray not just for the families of the victims, but we need to pray for the family of the shooter, we can only imagine what they are going through now. Try and think about it, what if it was your child? What if it was your brother or sister? How would you feel?
I would like to open this up to all other members who desire to make a statement about what's going on, but I would like to close with two passages from books by the author Steve Alten:

"An Open communication to the world:
I have opened your eyes to insanity. The insanity of nuclear war. The insanity of terrorism and ppression. The insanity of hatred. The insanity of injustice. Now it is time to end the insanity. There will be no more nuclear strikes, no more attacks. The Goliath shall serve as God's tool to ensure the peace, but you must be freedom's guardians.
The tower of Babel has been destroyed. Now it is time to rebuild. What rises in its place must stand as a symbol of our unity. One species. Under God. Indivisble. With Liberty and Justice for all."
-Simon Bela Covah (Steve Alten's book Goliath)

"The immortality of my youth,
Lacked all direction, avoided truth,
Hustling through my middle age,
I burnt through years lost in a haze,
The bells now toll from father time,
Fortunes fade, and so do mine."
-Jonas Taylor, excerpty from Memoirs (Steve Alten's Meg: Primal Waters)
