From Rock to Sky
Castle Spire is an amazing construction of nature. Carved by the costal winds and water, this incredible igneous intrusions has been carved from the coastline over centuries by the simple hand of nature. Travelers are encouraged to enter the tunnel at its base and walk the dark hallways of this magnificent structure. Thanks to quirks in the rock formation natural windows have appeared, and air is always fresh, filled with the fresh scent of the sea. Water drips into pools hidden within the caves that riddle the rock, while outside you can witness the wonder of weather coming in over the sea.
The Spire is not wholly uninhabited, as locals have relied on it as a shelter and a warning beacon at sea for many generations. In 1974 an electric light replaced the time honored torch of the Fire Basin -- the highest point of Castle Spire. However, when the shipping lanes of the south closed down in 1992, the lighthouse function of Castle Spire was no longer needed. The Fire Basin has become a museum to the golden age of Miteinjan.
Some of the lower caverns have been set aside as shelters for those who have lost homes or livelihoods to acts of nature. Luckily, there are not many people in these caverns, and the ones that are are well cared for by the good volunteers who work here.
In addition to the inhabited carverns, and the untouched caves open to exploration, the leagues of Miteinjan have a strong presence here, with three gyms. Have fun exploring, and remember the various paths and tunnels of the Spire can always lead you to new and exciting experiences!

The reality of Castle Spire is amazing. The spire has pokemon, gyms, a museum -- and some of the most active charities on Miteinjan. Many people have lost their jobs, either because of shipwreck, or the financial climate. In the case of shipwreck, there are people who don't have fathers and mothers any more.
There are few options on Miteinjan for orphans, and one of the only options is the Castle Spire School, specifically created as a year 'round boarding school that is bent on getting kids placed in good jobs, or with good families. Run by Sister Alwe of the Righteous Sisters of Shaymin, the school is free to wards of the region, or those whose parents have to go on unemployment for a year or more. Currently the school has thirteen children, with openings for more. The school room is the largest cavern at the very bottom of the Spire. Although this can lead to random people wandering through and disrupting classes, the teachers look upon this as a good thing, and will sometimes ask strangers to give the class a short lecture on a subject of their choice.
Notable Speakers from the Past:
Professor Cherry (Jenta Head Professor) - "Breakfast with My Pokemon"
Corwin (Wyvern Village Gym Leader) - "Draconic Mutations and the Future"
Agatha (Kanto Elite Four)- "What's Wrong with You Young People Today"
Sir William Darcy (Kanariya Gym Leader) - "Where's My Cat: An Examination of Where Life Can Take You"
If you by-pass the large cavern, but don't want to go out onto the Mitein Bay Road just yet you can always take the tunnel on the left that slopes upward in a spiral. This will lead you to a series of interlocking caves with rock pools, and a few pokemon.
Pokemon

Corsola (27-39)
Geodude (40-52)
Uncommon (30%)

Omanyte (73-82)
Rare (18%)

Skarmory (89-94)
Onix (95-100)
Past these caves, and even further up you'll come to a long, high tunnel with several caves opening off of it. The ones belonging to the students have wooden doors that will be closed, but there are three that are only separated from the cavern by a curtain.
Confusion Cave
A large pool of water with a small rock island in the middle is the arena for the second gym in the Confusion league. The curtain separating the hall cavern, and the cave is deep purple with blue waves patterned on. Inside the cave, the light from the high holes of the windows bounces off the water, forming light blue ripples along the dark walls. Presiding over this cold realm is a ditto who will take on your appearance!
Gym Leader Aoi the Transform Pokemon
Aoi is a, er, man, with a dry sense of humor, who delights in cold weather. He never leaves his gym except under extreme emergencies. It is suspected that he agreed to take his position as gym leader in order to play a joke on the Travel Bureau, although the joke is a little unclear. Either way, he is the head of his league, and to be treated with caution, as pokemon listen to him, and he'll be switching his friends with yours.
Pokemon:
Bounce (Azurill)
Gender: Male
Level: 15
Moves: Charm, Tail Whip, Bubble, Slam
Ability: Huge Power - This pokemon is twice as strong as it looks
Personality: Bounce is a cute little pokemon who believes that he can do anything he wants, once he puts his mind to it.
Float (Beldum)
Gender: N/A
Level: 15
Moves: Take Down
Ability: Clear Body - Opponents cannot reduce stats
Personality: Float is calm and serene. It's hard to tell what is going on in this pokemon's head, but she loves to do sums, and can be distracted from battle this way.
Roll (Spheal)
Gender: Female
Level: 15
Moves: Defense Curl, Ice Ball, Water Gun, and Powder Snow
Ability: Thick Fat - Heat and cold attacks are rendered ineffective
Personality: Roll is easily the strongest of the group. A defensive battler she "rolls" with the punches, making her hard to take down, although she sometimes can be a little bratty about how good she is.
Prize:
1000 Pyen, and an optional choice of a random pokemon (Baltoy, Bronzor, Drowzee, Girafarig, Lunatone, Meditite, Mime Jr., Kirlia, Solrock, or Venonat) at level 24. The pokemon will be selected randomly, and you have the option of not accepting it. You can only receive one Confusion League pokemon, so accept or reject it wisely.
Water Maze
This confusing network of tunnels and caves is behind the plain light blue curtain. It's the second gym of the Toxic League, and run by none other than the headmistress of the school below, Sister Alwe (if you are planning on challenging the Toxic League, it would be polite to tell her in the school before you head up). The Water maze is a group of tunnels and small caves that cross and re-cross within the Castle Spire. Water flows through all of the caverns, however, there are stepping stones, and the water is only an inch deep.
Gym Leader Sister Alwe the Wise Nun
Sister Alwe is getting on in years, she'll be nearing her 55th birthday soon, although she won't say when, because it is none of our beeswax. She's a no-nonsense idealist who won't accept anything less than the correct answer. Still, she has a lot of fun in this job, and likes meeting new people.
Your pokemon will be infected with toxic by her nidorina, Annabeth, but the riddling pokemon that you run into in the tunnels will probably be Sister Alwe's birds.
Pokemon
Gloria (Pidgeotto)
Gender: Female
Level: 16
Moves: Quick Attack, Sand Attack, Gust, Tackle
Ability: Keen Eye - Accuracy cannot be reduced
Personality: Gloria is vain, and sure that she's brighter than any who cross her path. This leads her into rages when she doesn't fool someone, however.
Patience (Hoothoot)
Gender: Female
Level: 16
Moves: Uproar, Peck, Hypnosis, Tackle
Ability: Insomnia - Can't be put to sleep
Personality: This nocturnal bird can be very slow when deliberating what to tell you. So much so that Alwe sometimes yells at her to hurry up before your pokemon faints from the poison.
Eva (Togetic)
Gender: Female
Level: 16
Moves: Charm, Magical Leaf, Sweet Kiss, Metronome
Ability: Serene Grace - Side effects of attacks occur twice as often
Personality: Eva is happy, and fluttery all the time. It can be quite annoying, but when you show that annoyance, she will get very upset. She just wants everyone to feel as happy as she does.
Prize:
1000 Pyen, and an optional choice of a random pokemon (Dustox, Gulpin, Roselia, Stunky, and Vespiquen) at level 24. The pokemon will be selected randomly, and you have the option of not accepting it. You can only receive one Toxic League pokemon, so accept or reject it wisely.
Chance Caverns
The first gym of the Blizzard League is also located in the Spire. It can be found behind the white and green curtain. The room is pretty simple, with a table and a few chairs, a wood fire stove, and several cabinates (you're actually looking at the kitchen for the school downstairs!) Three smaller caves radiate off from this room, holding the frozen food that the school owns, and if you take the challenge, one will hold your frozen pokemon as well. A jynx is usually seen in front of the stove, or leafing through the recipe book on the table. Besides being the head cook, she's also the one who will put your pokemon under ice, and confuse you so you won't remember which room they were sent to. This all on the instructions of her partner.
Gym Leader Takeshiro the Gambler
Takeshiro is an aging gambler who has been forced to go straight by his friend, Sister Alwe. He still loves to play the odds, of course, but doesn't dare while Sister Alwe can get a hold of him. He's a stoop shouldered old man with long salt and pepper hair that he ties back in a ponytail. Sometimes he's clean shaven, sometimes not, it depends on the day you catch up with him. He prefers to wear a Jentan yakuta, and claims to hail from Florak, originally. Besides Renee, his jynx, who is never frozen, he will use two other pokemon.
Pokemon
Kenee (Murkrow)
Gender: Female
Level: 17
Moves: Wing Attack, Astonish, Pursuit, Haze
Ability: Insomnia - This Pokemon can't be put to sleep
Personality: Kenee is a wicked tricster, who adores taking things from people with her sharp beak, and replacing them with rocks.
Chenee (Rattata)
Gender: Male
Level: 17
Moves: Tail Whip, Hyper Fang, Bite, Quick Attack
Ability: Run Away - Makes it easy to escape from battles
Personality: He's rough, and always acting angry for one reason or another. Loyal to Takeshiro, that seems to be his only good side.
Prize
1000 Pyen, and an optional choice of a random pokemon (Smoochum, Snover, Spheal, or Swinub) at level 12. The pokemon will be selected randomly, and you have the option of not accepting it. You can only receive one Blizzard League pokemon, so accept or reject it wisely.
School Nurse
Opposite the gyms, the school nurse has her office in a nice, open room. She has hung thick rugs over the rocky walls, and several beds for sick students. She'll treat pokemon, as well, if you're willing to wait in one of the old chairs she has in her office.
Fire Basin
If you go to the end of the hallway with the gyms in it, there is a narrow tunnel with stairs that have been added in to take you to the top of the spire. Here, in a circular bubble-like room, the wind has cut huge pairs of holes, making the top of the spire look as though it is resting on four spindly pillars. This open air room is the Fire basin where huge bonfires burned at night to warn ships away from the coral strewn coast. Now it's an historical site with a decommissioned electric light and generator. The currator there has almost nothing to do, but watch the sea and tell people about the history of the Spire.
