So, as a study break I did this just for laughs. It's just a very sarcastic walkthrough/journal for the beginning of the Pearl game. I started over recently when I found a friend with the patience to take care of the babies of my favorite "I have to train these when I start out so I can beat gymz with them" pokemon. All 54 of them. Things are going to be interesting once I have caught 54 bidoof.
Anyway, without further ado, I present the new quest:
New Pearl – Started during the night (your journey shall be filled with ... wait, sorry, wrong game...)
Name: Kazeyuki Rival: Satoshi
For those who read the credits, you might recognize these names. Anyway, began new game, and watched TV in my house. Nothing interesting upstairs. Went down and talked to mother. Game design note: something very odd, a weird pink patch, or something on the mother's butt. What is that supposed to be? Does she have dual tone jeans?
Leave, inspect the other houses in town. Nothing interesting until I reach my rival's house. He runs into me, runs away, and comes back. I go into the house, and talk with his mom. Story note: “Wonder who he takes after?” Just what kind of home does my rival come from? Anyway, I head upstairs. He takes off again. Nothing more than some advice. Head down stairs. Satoshi's mom tells me where to go (route 201).
So, we, like the naughty kids we are, we run off to the lake in the middle of the night. My friend and rival manages to convince me to go into the tall grass. We're going to be attacked. Yup, and now we're stealing pokeballs from the brief case. Welcome to my life of crime.
Starter: Chimchar (level 5) male
Professor Rowan's assistant came back for the case after the battle. I get the feeling he isn't very competent. And highly forgetful. Anyway, we leave the lacke, and go back to 201. My rival suggests that we keep our ill-gotten pokemon for just a little while longer. I have to say, there is rolling of eyes on my part at this point.
Run into Prof. Rowan on the route. He sees that we've stolen his pokemon, and then he decides to go back to his lab. His bungling assistant tells us to come to the lab. Instead we go home, and talk to my mom again. She tells me what is up with Prof. Rowan, and tells me to reason with him. And then I get some sweet running shoes. Possibly so I can take other pokemon, and run from their owners as quickly as Satoshi. Still, we should return the pokemon. To Sandgem!
Route 201 has some cool tall grass, and a person wandering around to tell me that I might get jumped by pokemon looking for my lunch money, or something to that effect. Another person wandering around in the middle of the night told me about an HP bar. A little northward, another person, who apparently has a day job at the pokemart gives me a potion. If he's an advertising gimmick, he must have drawn the really short straw to be out here. Another guy by a ledge tells me that jumping is the best answer to getting home quickly. Kinda interesting, but, seriously, it's the middle of the night. Don't these people have places to be sleeping, or something?
So I reach Sandgem, nearly get stampeded by my rival, and greeted by Lucas, the bumbling assistant. We enter the lab, now that Satoshi has reassured me about Prof. Rowan's kindness. Lucas thinks he's weird (Satoshi, not Prof Rowan). The prof lets me have my chimchar, and name it (he looked like an “Able” to me). Lucas the inept mentions that he's glad that I'm kind to pokemon, because otherwise it'd be really bad. Fanfic idea: What if years earlier Cyrus had received a pokemon from Prof. Rowan? Oh, and besides my chimchar, I'm given a pokedex. Whoot! I explore the lab a bit, and it turns out that Prof. Rowan's fridge is stocked with sweets. Better finish writing before I fall asleep.

Name: Kazeyuki Team: Able (Chimchar) lv. 12 Imbi (Kriketune) lv. 10 Sneak (Shinx) lv. 6 Other: 2 bidoof for trade caught
So, I woke up, and began my adventure. Went out of the lab, and Lucas showed me the pokemart and pokemon center, and advised me to go back to my mom's. Huh, first morally sound piece of advice I've gotten from someone my age. Anyway, I explored the town, bought five pokeballs talked to the people in the lab, and did stuff like that. I'm a little confused. If Lucas is Prof. Rowan's main assistant, what with traveling with him and being given a pokedex, too, what does that say about his father who's worked for the Prof. All his life? Is the father even more incompetent than the son?
Anyway, left to go back to route 201. Battled some pokemon, got Able up a level or two. Entered Twinleaf, talked to Satoshi's mom, to see if he was around. He wasn't as usual. I went home, talked to mine, she gave me a nifty keen journal. Clearly she doesn't know about this one. Then Satoshi's mom showed up, worried that Satoshi hadn't gotten his going away present. I'm now supposed to get it to him, and he's probably in Jubilife city. Hooray, Kazeyuki messenger girl to save the day.
I go back out onto route 201, train some more, catch a bidoof so I can trade with my elderly aunt and get some of her cool Johto pokies. She really likes bidoof. Anyway, once I got to Sandgem I decided to go to route 202. Lucas was there, and taught me how to catch pokemon, and gave me five more pokeballs. I then went on ahead, and battled my first ever trainer!
Youngster Tristan Starly lv. 5
Caught another bidoof. Continued along route. Met another trainer!
Lass Natalie Bidoof lv. 3 Bidoof lv. 3
Defeated her. Went into the next patch of grass. Trained. Caught another bidoof. Caught a kriketot just for me. I like 'em! Came out of the grass to face a new trainer.
Youngster Logan Shinx lv. 5
Continued through the grass patch, and hey! There's the sign to Jubilife City! Cool. Oh, but first another stranger. Possibly a trainer? Nope, just some guy waiting for all the pokemon to come to him. He's planning to wait on route 203 until he's seen all of them. I don't think this is a great life choice, but sure, hey, go for it. Oh! Item ball in the grass just beyond him. I gots a potion. Moving on to Jubilife City.
Oh, I get met at the city entrance by Lucas. I'm beginning to think he's following me... He doesn't think that I've caught enough pokemon. Admittedly, I am looking to catch a shinx, but only after I've got a pwnsome kricketune. Anyway, he told me that Satoshi went to the trainer's school, and I should, too. Eh, I think I'll look around a bit, first.
Apparently I can't get into the GTS – whatever that is. The TV station is also blocked by a clown, who said something about a promo for the poketch company, that would happen after I had gone to the trainer's school. Okaaaay. Oh well, I think I'll check out the pokemon center. Observation: The people of Jubilife are freer with odd, and sometimes obvious advice than they are with items. Update! Got into a massive condo on the north end of town in the corner between the route to Oreburg and the route to Floaroma Town, and I got a Quick Claw from the blond lady on the first floor. Went to the poketch company, but the president wasn't there.
Continued west in search of friendly people, and in the gate that leads to Route 218 I met a fisherman who gave me an Old Rod. Magikarp beware! After exploring the empty fishing spot beyond the gate house, I went back to the pokemart, and made some purchases. Potions, antidotes, and paralyze heals, mainly, but I also got another pokeball.
Went into the Trainer's School and talked to the girl in the corner. She asked me to battle her.
School Girl Christine Abra lv. 6 Note: Knows Hidden Power
Then I battled her neighbor.
School Boy Harrison Abra lv. 6 Note: knows Hidden Power
I got a TM from the two of them. TM 10 – Hidden Power
Anyway, went up to the black board, seeing Satoshi, and gave him his mother's gift. It was 2 town maps, and one of them was for me. His mom can be really thoughtful. It's kind of cool. Anyway, Satoshi suggested that I go to Oreburgh next, and left. I'll take him up on that, but first I think I'll look into what the clown was saying about the promo for the poketch.
Ak! I was accosted in the street right outside the pokemon center. This old guy doesn't think that you can be a trainer without a poketch. Hey, man, I've got Able and Imbi, they're all I need to be a trainer, okay. Well, okay, he actually just wanted to tell me about the three clowns in Jubilife, and the promo for the poketch they were doing. Guess he's part of the company.
First clown found in between the pokemart and pokemon center. He gave me a trivia question and then a coupon for being right. I talked to my old friend in front of the TV station for the third coupon, and then went hunting for coupon #2. The final clown was in front of the poketch company.
Went back to the man. He needed his poketch to count to three, so I'm not quite as surprised that he believes a trainer can't live without his poketch. However, I am slightly better at counting than that. Still it was nice of him. Oh well, off to Oreburgh, I suppose.
I stop to talk to the guy by the route to Oreburgh (Route 203?) and discover Satoshi came through a while ago. Hey, I haven't actually fought him yet. Maybe I should go and train...
One evolution and a Sneak-y shinx later, I'm ready to take him on.
Rival Satoshi Starly lv. 7 Piplup lv. 10
Rival defeated! I think I'll take a rest.

Spent all day yesterday and a bit of today training. Traded pokemon level up faster, but low levels can make the initial level ups more annoying, as it's hard to pit a level one pokemon against anything without it getting creamed. Ghost types are ideal, however, as most pokemon only know normal moves at this level, and they can attack without being attacked in return. Also, y original goal of level 12 for pokemon to challenge the gym might be impeded by the fact that traded pokemon stop obeying after level 10. So I might have to challenge Rorak's cranidos with a level 10 lapras, rather than level 12.
I also want to note that Hermione and Kimbley are half brother and sister, thanks to their father, who was named Thomas in honor of Thom from the Song of the Lioness Quartet. When you think about those three characters from those three fandoms being interrelated, it kinda blows your mind.
Kinda depressed about Prattchet. He's the son of Aunt Lenij's starter, who was one of her strongest pokemon. But stats wise, he's really weak. Maybe it will be better when he knows more than one move.
Anyway, when I got done with my quick training my pokemon looked like this:
Ben (male vaporeon) lv. 6 Brave guy, but somewhat vain He knows Tackle, Tail Whip, and Helping Hand Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense > Attack > Defense >Speed
Greed (male sneasel) lv. 5 He has a docile nature and good endurance He knows Scratch, Leer, Taunt, and Toxic Speed > Attack > Sp. Defense > Defense > Sp. Attack
Kirith (female ekans) lv. 10 She's actually timid, even though she likes to fight She knows Wrap, Leer, Poison Sting, and Bite Speed > Attack = Sp. Defense > Defense > Sp. Attack
Kimbley (male shuppet) lv. 5 He's fairly calm, but quick tempered He knows Knock Off, Confuse Ray, Payback, and Shadow Ball Attack = Sp. Attack > Speed >Defense > Sp. Defense
Lenij (male abra) lv. 5 He is very adamant and proud of his power He knows Teleport and Reflect Speed > Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense > Attack > Defense
Dischord (female doduo) lv. 5 A rash little girl who is thoroughly cunning She knows Peck, Growl, and Quick Attack Attack > Speed > Defense = Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense
Turtle (male lapras) lv. 6 Quiet natured guy who often scatters things He knows Water Gun, Ice Beam, Brine, and Mist Sp. Attack = Sp. Defense > Attack = Defense > Speed
Prattchet (male turtwig) lv. 5 He is fairly bashful, but highly curious He knows Tackle, and Withdraw Attack = Defense > Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense > Speed
Pen (male flareon) lv. 6 He has an impish nature, but also good endurance He knows Tackle, Tail Whip, and Helping Hand Attack > Sp. Defense > Sp. Attack > Defense = Speed
Azaris (female scarmory) lv. 5 She has a lax nature and loves to eat She knows Peck, Leer, and Steel Wing Defense >> Attack = Speed > Sp. Attack = Sp. Defense
Niref (tauros) lv. 5 He has an adamant nature which is matched by his thorough cunning He knows Tackle, Tail Whip, Rage, and Rest Speed > Attack > Defense > Sp. Defense > Sp. Attack
Hermione (female misdreavus) lv. 5 She is more docile, but like her half brother, she can be quick tempered She knows Growl, Psywave, Shadow Ball, and Payback Sp. Defense > Sp. Attack = Speed > Attack > Defense
Able (male chimchar) lv. 12 He has a lax nature, but he is quick to flee He knows Scratch, Leer, Ember, and Taunt Speed > Attack = Defense = Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense
Imbi (female kriketot) lv. 11 She is a serious girl with good endurance She knows Growl, Bide, and Fury Cutter Attack >> Speed = Defense > Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense
Sneak (male shinx) lv. 10 He's got a modest nature, but that doesn't stop him from clowning around He knows Tackle, Leer, and Charge Attack > Speed > Sp. Attack > Defense > Sp. Defense
So, I get out of Jubilife and head to Route 203. Hooray!
Walking along the cement road, there's a short path to my left, so, I go up it. Pretty quickly, a youngster challenges me to a battle. Youngster Micheal Bidoof lv. 5 Zubat lv. 5
At the end of the path and to the right is an item ball containing a pokeball. Fun, fun, fun. I jup over the ledge, and go back to the main path, going up the stairs. There another youngster there, and battle time!
Youngster Dallas Kricketot lv. 7
Going up the next set of stairs, I'm immediately challenged by another trainer.
Lass Kaitlin Bidoof lv. 4 Budew lv. 4 Starly lv. 4
Continuing past her, I walk until the road runs into a hill, where another youngster challenges me.
Youngster Sebastian Machop lv. 7
Going along the hillside, I meet another Lass, who wants another battle from me. I am just rocking these out.
Lass Madeline Starly lv. 5 Bidoof lv. 5
Okay. Now, there's come grass on one side of the girl, leading to somewhere unknown and uncharted, and there is a sign telling me to go in the other direction for Oreburgh. Naturally, I explored the grass. It lead me to a set of stairs, and an item ball with a repel in it. There's a pretty reflecting pool behind me, but I don't feel like fishing for magikarp right now. Time to continue onto Oreburgh. I go up the stairs, past Madeline, and into the cave.
So, I get into the cave, and accosted by this scruggly bearded dude who likes the look of my poketch, and then gives me an HM 06 – Rock Smash. Sadly I can't use it until I've defeated Rorak. Continuing on, I run into a new kind of trainer. But he still wants to battle.
Camper Curtis Shinx lv. 7
Just past him was his sister or something, and we got into another battle.
Picknicker Diana Budew lv. 5 Psyduck lv. 5
And just beyond her is the exit. I think I'll camp in the cave for the night, and go to sleep.

Oreburgh is supposedly the city of energy, and indeed, when I get out of the cave, instead of getting to the pokemon center, and a nice heal up after yesterday's series of battles, I get jumped by some kid who takes me to the gym where my rival is waiting. Apparently, Satoshi already beat the gym leader (hey his piplup could have cleaned up the place). But now Roark's gone to work in the mine for a while. Hey, I'm cool with that. There might be an onix down there, and more trainers. I've got a large party to level. But first I'm going to explore the town.
First stop the pokemon center. There are a couple of people in the lobby, one was kinda weird and asked me what kind of trainer I wanted to be seen as, but another told me to go downstairs, so I could get a pal pad. Pal pad obtained, although I don't have a reliable internet connection.
Anyway, going out to explore the town. There are a lot of people around, maybe because this city is smaller than Jubilife, and the people have to stay clumped up. However, none of them had much to say, although it sounds like the coal mine is pretty vast. Admittedly, I think we export to places like Hoenn and Kanto.
After walking around some I decided to enter the building behind the fence to the right of the pokemon center. On the second floor I got a great ball from a kid, and a ecological lecture from the two guys there. It sounds as though there's been some environmental trouble in the past with this place. I can't think of any other reason to jump and down about the ecological accomplishments here.
The Oreburgh museum was nice. There's a guy there planing to extract fossil pokemon from fossils. He kinda reminds me of Satoshi. In the appartment building next to the pokemart, there's a guy on the second floor who wants to see a zubat. I happened to catch Flit late last night, so I showed the little guy to him. The man was so impressed that he gave me a heal ball, and decided to get off his duff and go catch a zubat for himself. Go figure. In the house next to that one, on the second floor was a woman who gave me a dusk ball. Whoot.
Once I'd seen all there was to see of Oreburgh, I went into the mine area. Lots of people were around, too, and one guy in the area by all the coal pushers with his machop gave me a Super Potion. After that, I went down into the mine. To the right of the entrance was an item ball with an X-defend in it. Then there were the stairs of doom. The mine must be deep down.
I get into the mine proper and wow! There's a humongous block of coal right in the middle of the room. I talk to a worker who has a few machop with him. Apparently they can be found on Route 207. Not entire helpful for me, as I would rather find a meditite. The guy who is working on the right side of the coal looks like a good guy, and so I talk to him. Whoops. He snuck his pokemon into work today and he wants to battle.
Worker Mason Machop lv. 9
Wait, he has a machop? The guy I was just talking to had two right in plain sight. There was no sneaking in needed. Uhhg. The problems that people create for themselves. Just behind Mason was an item ball with a potion inside of it, though, so that makes up for it, I suppose. On the other side of the coal from Worker Mason is an item ball with an escape rope in it. And on the side of the slab opposite the entrance on the left side is another worker who wants a battle on his break.
Worker Colin Geodude lv. 7 Onix lv. 7
Finally, just past him, I meet the gym leader. He showed me what Rock Smash does, and then walks off to the gym. I guess I'd better follow, if only so that I can stand around and look awkward before going back to train my pokies.
I got out of the mine, and decided to head to route 207 after a heal up at the pokemon center. It seemed like a likely place as any to train. At the far back corner there is an item ball with a pokeball in it. Pretty cool. I think I'll sleep out here tonight, and continue training in the morning.

Okay, I'm ready to face the gym. I've caught a new pokemon, Lagosh the onix. She was a little annoying to level up, since she's not got good moves against machop, geodude, or other onix, which are the strongest pokemon near Oreburgh. I had to go all the way back to route 203 to level her, but it was all good. I got a snake o' rock, which is awesome.
I'm planning to face Roark with this team: Kimbley, Hermione, Pratchett, Turtle, Azaris, and Kirith. They are all level 10, and all traded, so once I use them against the gym and level them up once more, I won't be able to use them until after I beat Gardenia. Harsh to think about it, but I should have a whole new batch of friends from Aunt Lenij to level after I beat Roark.
So, here's my pokemon list:
Kimbley (male shuppet) lv. 10 He's fairly calm, but quick tempered He knows Night Shade, Confuse Ray, Payback, and Shadow Ball Attack > Sp. Attack > Speed > Defense = Sp. Defense
Hermione (female misdreavus) lv. 10 She is more docile, but like her half brother, she can be quick tempered She knows Growl, Psywave, Shadow Ball, and Payback Sp. Defense > Sp. Attack = Speed > Attack > Defense
Azaris (female scarmory) lv. 10 She has a lax nature and loves to eat She knows Peck, Leer, Steel Wing, and Sand Attack Defense >>> Attack = Speed > Sp. Defense > Sp. Attack
Prattchet (male turtwig) lv. 10 He is fairly bashful, but highly curious He knows Tackle, Withdraw, and Absorb Attack > Defense > Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense > Speed
Kirith (female ekans) lv. 10 She's actually timid, even though she likes to fight She knows Wrap, Leer, Poison Sting, and Bite Speed > Attack = Sp. Defense > Defense > Sp. Attack
Turtle (male lapras) lv. 10 Quiet natured guy who often scatters things He knows Confuse Ray, Ice Beam, Brine, and Mist Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense > Attack = Defense > Speed
Pen (male flareon) lv. 10 He has an impish nature, but also good endurance He knows Tackle, Tail Whip, Helping Hand and Sand Attack Attack > Sp. Defense > Sp. Attack > Defense = Speed
Greed (male sneasel) lv. 10 He has a docile nature and good endurance He knows Quick Attack, Leer, Taunt, and Toxic Speed > Attack > Sp. Defense > Defense >> Sp. Attack
Niref (tauros) lv. 10 He has an adamant nature which is matched by his thorough cunning He knows Horn Attack, Tail Whip, Rage, and Rest Speed > Attack > Defense > Sp. Defense >> Sp. Attack
Ben (male vaporeon) lv. 10 Brave guy, but somewhat vain He knows Tackle, Tail Whip, Helping Hand and Sand Attack Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense >> Attack > Defense = Speed
Lenij (male abra) lv. 10 He is very adamant and proud of his power He knows Teleport and Reflect Sp. Attack = Speed >> Sp. Defense > Attack > Defense
Sneak (male shinx) lv. 11 He's got a modest nature, but that doesn't stop him from clowning around He knows Tackle, Leer, and Charge Attack > Speed > Sp. Attack > Defense > Sp. Defense
Flit (male zubat) lv. 10 He's timid, but once you get to know him, he's obviously proud of his power. He knows Leech Life, Supersonic, and Astonish Speed > Sp. Defense = Attack > Sp. Attack > Defense
Dischord (female doduo) lv. 10 A rash little girl who is thoroughly cunning She knows Peck, Growl, Quick Attack, and Rage Attack > Speed > Sp. Attack > Defense > Sp. Defense
Imbi (female kriketot) lv. 11 She is a serious girl with good endurance She knows Growl, Bide, and Fury Cutter Attack >> Speed = Defense > Sp. Attack > Sp. Defense
Lagosh (female onix) lv. 10 She's very quiet, but proud of her power (I think she and Flit make a good pair, personality wise) She knows Harden, Bind, Screech, and Rock Throw Defense >>> Speed > Attack > Sp. Defense > Sp. Attack
Able (male chimchar) lv. 13 He has a lax nature, but he is quick to flee He knows Scratch, Leer, Ember, and Taunt Speed > Defense > Sp. Attack > Attack > Sp. Defense
Going into the gym is pretty intense. It's literally cared out of the rock, and got a lot of steps and stairs. However right ahead is a youngster, and I'm not opposed to taking him on.
Youngster Jonathon Geodude lv. 10
Up the next set of steps is the next challenger.
Youngster Darius Geodude lv. 8 Onix lv. 8
Finally, after the next flight of stairs, I encounter Roark.
Gym Leader Roark Geodude lv. 12 Onix lv. 12 Cranidos lv. 14
Roark was easy to defeat. His onix had me worried for a minute, using screech on Prattchet, who is weak to rock type moves, especially with a cut defense, but the quick claw I placed on Prattchet saved him in the second round by getting him to go first. The cranidos looked tough, but all it took was a Brine from Turtle, and he was defeated. I'm glad it was so easy, though, as it means that I didn't have any pokemon faint on me.
Anyway, Roark gave me the Coal Badge. I can now use Rock Smash outside of battle. I also got TM 76 – Stealth Rock.
Went back to the pokemon center, healed, and slept.

Anyway, I woke up and began my plan for Gardienia. With the exception of Sneak, all of my non-traded pokies make a good team against a grass type gym leader, so I'll be using those at level 20.
I went toward the Orburgh gate or hill or tunnel or whatever it is, and ran into my rival. Satoshi told me that it was impossible to get through route 207 (something I'd already figured out), and so I had to go through Jubilife and Floaroma. Easy enough.
So, he ran off, and I walked though the cave. I have to remember to catch a bidoof to work as an HM slave. But I have a lot of pokemon that I have to capture for Aunt Lenij, too...
Anyway, I got all the way to Jubilife without major mishap. I went down to route 202 for a bit to catch 18 bidoof, but then quickly returned. On the upside the GTS opened up while I was gone. There are people all over the building. I got to register my location on the globe there, but that was all I did in the GTS. Out by the fountains a kid wanted to know my favorite type of the three starters. I let him know it was water, even though I can't stand piplup. The building near the GTS had some funny people in it. One man thought that if everyone had pokemon then they all could communicate. Is there some reason that people just can't talk to one another? I like my pokemon, but I don't need them to as Satoshi to stop running into me --- Admittedly he doesn't ever listen, but that's beside the point.
So, visited the poketch company (I wanted to complain that the promo clowns haven't moved --- well, actually, I just wanted to complain about the one infront of the TV station. Still, I couldn't actually make the complaint, because the owner of the company gave me a new app, and it's not nice to complain if someone is giving you something for free.
I was about to exit Jubilife heading north for Floaroma when I saw the Prof and Lucas having a talk with two people, probably twins. The Prof called me over, and wow, the talk wasn't really one of those happy ones. The blue haired twins were trying to get the Prof's research notes. I'm not sure why, but I'm pretty certain that Rowan didn't appreciate it. Lucas looked pretty unhappy, and downright terrified when they said they'd take him apart if they didn't get what they wanted. Naturally, I couldn't let that happen to the poor idiot, so we sung into action together in a double battle.
Galactic Grunts Zubat lv. 9 Wurmple lv. 9
We ran them off, while they shouted things about Team Galactic and being benevolent. Anyway the Prof and Lucas left, saying sciency things. Not really my look out, so I politely ignored them. Then some tubby guy with Jubilife TV came up, saying that my battle with grunts was excellent, or some such rot. He gave me a fashion case. I'm not certain how useful that will be. Maybe I can use it to hit things with?
Anyway, he invited me to the TV station. I've been trying to get in since I came to Jubilife, so I went. In the corner was a camera man who wanted a battle, so I accepted.
Camera Man Tevin Pachirisu lv. 17
On the first floor, I entered the lottery, but didn't get a win. On the second floor I ran into a man who gave me a chimchar mask. In the room off the main one, I dressed up my bidoof, Doughnut. It was really just a random thing to do, but hey, now I have a picture. A woman outside the room wanted to know what I thought about the picture, though. Can't see it making a very interesting TV spot. On the third floor I unlocked Mystery Gift when I just spouted something random (people and secret societies, jessh) I think I said “Everyone Happy” and Wi-Fi Connection.
Now I'm on Route 204. If you go to the right, you'll find an item ball just beyond the pond there. It contains a paralyze heal. Probably will come in handy when I'm fighting in a grass gym.
On the regular path I met up with a lass who was quick to jump the gun when asking me for a battle.
Lass Sarah Bidoof lv. 7
I decided to train for a bit there, and then camp for the night.

So in the morning I wake up, go back to Jubilife to heal. While I'm there, I go to the TV station to battle the person in the corner.
Clown Lee Mr. Mime lv. 17 Note: Mr. Mime have the soundproof ability o.0
Anyway, get back on route 204, and head north until I'm just past Sarah, and a youngster stops me.
Youngster Tyler Magikarp lv.5 Starly lv. 5
Going further north, I met a Lass just before the tunnel mouth of the ravaged path.
Lass Samantha Budew lv. 7
Getting inside the cave I go up the stairs, and then go to the rock blocking me on the left. Once I get Doughnut to smash it the rock reveals a mini caver with a pool at one end, and an item ball. I grab the item, which is a TM 39 – Rock Tomb. Anyway, healing to the right is another item ball containing an antidote, and the exit just beyond the rocks that I need to smash. Doughnut SMASH! Okay, wrong universe...
I get out of the cave and walk up another flight of stairs, only to be challenged by some adult!
Aroma Lady Taylor Budew lv. 7 Cherubi lv. 7
Just beyond her is an item ball with an awakening inside. Continuing to go north gets me through a patch of grass, and an encounter with a bug catcher. Seriously, a guy who likes to catch bugs. With a net and everything.
Bug catcher Brandon Kriketot lv. 7 Wurmple lv. 7
Next up are a pair of cute little girls who think they can take me. Ha ha ha – hang on, a double battle?
Twins Liv and Liz Pachirisu lv. 9 and Pachirisu lv. 9
Past the twins to the far right is another item ball by a fence. From it I got TM 29 – Bullet Seed. Going back to the left and then north, I enter Floaroma town!
After the pokemon center I begin to explore the place. Floaroma seemed to be about the same size as Sandgem, just with a flower shop, instead of a lab. In front of said flower shop I picked an oran berry and a cheri berry. Inside I got the sprayduck watering can from the girl on the left, a rawst berry from the girl on the right, and the girl behind the counter has a lot of random accessories. In the house next to the flower shop the little girl with the clefairy gave me a TM 88 – Pluck.
To the north of town are two more of the twins, but they don't want to battle. One of them is afraid of grass and bug types. I know some girls who don't like bug, so it makes sense, but grass types? Cower in fear of the shroomish!
Anyway, since there is nothing to do, I move on to route 205. There are two berry trees, which I take a chest berry, and a pecha berry from. A little further along the path a crying little girl accosts me, and starts crying on my skirt. Um, well the water works are because her father is in the Valley Windworks (and those are?) while some people dressed in spacesuits—and since I can a pair of twins at one end of the route, I can guess who those are—have locked the little girl out.
The twins at the other end of the bridge repel me, after telling me all about their plans (?). They are doing work in the Eterna forest, and trying to catch pokemon in Floaroma's meadow, and trying to get the energy of the windworks for something. Man, sciencey people leave me so confused. Okay. So continuing on the part of 205 that isn't blocked off, I come to an area with a lot of wind turbines. So this must be the Windworks. Wind that works, I get it. There's an item ball straight ahead, behind a turbine. There is also a galactic grunt guarding the door. Guess it's time to battle.
Galactic Grunt Glameow lv. 11
I beat the guy and am about to push past him—these people are ridiculous, and make me kind of annoyed, I mean they are keeping a little girl from her father, how sick can you be?--when the grunt turns around and runs inside the building, locking himself in. Grr... apparently there's a spare key with his brethren in the Floaroma meadow. Time to backtrack.
Okay, so I get to the Floaroma Meadow, and the two grunts are menacing some poor old man for his honey. Al-righty. I've got to stop them, don't I?
Galactic Grunt (1) Wurmple lv. 9 Silcoon lv. 9
Galactic Grunt (2) Zubat lv. 11
I defeat them, and they leave, dropping the Works Key. The man is too lazy to return it to the real owners, and so he gives it to me, along with some honey. Mmm, honey. Walking along the little hill that the meadow is set upon, I come to a nice little house with a honey tree outside. The people inside explain about the tree, and the flowers in the meadow, which is cool to know, but not exactly rocket science. Admittedly, if that's what those Galactic dweebs were trying to explain, then rocket science isn't all its cracked up to be. Anyway, none of the people there are willing to help me rescue that girl's father, and since I have the windworks key anyway, I might as well do it myself. Got to say though, I feel awfully young to be doing this without any help. I mean, these are serious kidnapping bad guys. But I'll help out until the police come.
Back at the windworks, with a quick stop at the pokemon center, I open the door. The guy I beat sees me immediately, and runs off for his commander. I have a bad feeling about this. I follow him along the coridor but am ambushed by another grunt.
Galactic Grunt Cascoon lv. 11
Having taken care of him, I move on to the large room to the right. There's another grunt behind some generators, who I talk to. No good information from him (he says something about collecting electricity from the Windworks), but a battle looms.
Galactic Grunt Wurmple lv. 10 Glameow lv. 10
Continuing forward there's the guy who I fought at the door, and a red haired girl. If my rat is there, then I'm guessing that she's the commander. Yup. There she is, spouting off about making a better world. Maybe it's a good thing that the police haven't showed up yet. His would set them laughing so hard that they drop their guns. Too bad Calactic is so misunderstood. Oh battle occurs while I'm rolling my eyes.
Commander Mars (seriously?) Zubat lv. 14 Purugly lv. 16
So, I defeat her, and see the loving reunion. They say, a balloon pokemon visits the Valley on certain days. Pretty cool. I'm wondering where the police are, but my Aunt texts me, saying she really would like to trade the rest of the pokemon that she has, so could I go catch some bidoof (she really likes them).
Three hours of catching and trading later, I have a lot of new additions to the team. It's kinda mind boggling, but I think I can raise them all.

One of the pokemon that Aunt Lenij traded to me was hold ing an Old Amber. After using the encyclopedia, I'm fairly certain that I can get an aerodactyl if the animal remains inside the Old Amber are reconstituted. Someone in Oreburgh mentioned something about being able to do this.
Passing through the Oreburgh Gate, I remember that I can use rock smash, and get through the dead end that heads north. A little detour won't be too bad. I get through and end up in a large chamber with lots of cracked rocks, and a pool. Going immediately to the right, there's a boulder to be cracked, with an item ball on a ledge behind it. I get TM 70 – Flash. Hopefully it might be useful, but I have my doubts.
Jumping down from the ledge, I hit the pool, and continue walking, hugging the shore as much as I can. I wish I could swim. By hugging the shore, you have to smash a rock, which leads up into an area with a girl on a bicycle, and another item ball. The item ball contains star dust, and the girl tells me that the only way to get beyond that point is by using a bicycle. There is nothing more to do here, so I'll exit.
Once I got to Oreburgh turned out the guy in the museum can't extract Fossils yet. Whoop-de-do. I guess I'll go back. I still want to get Lagosh to level 20 before I go onto Route 205. Time to train.
My happy Onix only needed 249 exp to make it, and that was easy enough. So I went to route 205 looking for trouble – or at least a good battle, now that the galactics are no longer blocking the bridge. They must have scarpered when the rest left the Windworks.
Anyway, I got to the main portion of the route, and saw a youngster by a honey tree, so I approached him for a battle. Umm, he wasn't exactly interested in anything but the honey tree. Sad. Moving along, I then talked to a little boy in green. He did want a battle. Success!
Camper Jacob Ponyta lv. 14
I walked through the grassy patch next to him, and then went up on the ledge with the bearded chubby guy. On an outcropping of the ledge there was an item ball with an x-attack inside. The bearded man, however, apparently wanted a battle.
Hiker Daniel Geodude lv. 11 Geodude lv. 11 Machop lv. 11 Bidoof lv. 11
I went down the stairs onto the right side of the hill. There was a lady there, who smelled sweet, but kinda overpowering. On the other hand, she wanted a battle, so I wasn't going to say no.
Aroma Lady Elizabeth Budew lv. 14
I headed north after the battle through the small patch of grass, and to the wide open space just ahead. There are some berry trees there, and one trainer. Naturally I talked to the trainer first.
Picnicker Siena Shinx lv. 12 Note: How does this shinx know spark?! Pachirisu lv. 12
After battling her, I grabbed an oran berry, and a pecha berry. Just under the land bridge on the route, over to the left, by the water, was an item ball. It contained a pokeball. I was done with the bottom half of the route, because a ledge separated me from the rest, so I decided to go up to the top half. I walked past Hiker Daniel, and up another set of stairs, only to run into another camper.
Camper Zackary Geodude lv. 14
Continuing along I reached the land bridge, and crossed. There was a patchy spot of grass, and a hiker there to greet me.
Hiker Nicholas Onix lv. 14
Just beyond the grass was a blonde girl running around in circles, with an item ball a little south west of her. I made a grab for the item without the girl seeing me. It turned out to be a repel. Then I got in the girl's line of sight. She came right at me with a kick! Epp! Still, guess the battle's on.
Battle Girl Kelsey Machop lv. 15
To the north of Kelsey I saw another picnicker.
Picnicker Karina Piplup lv. 14
Near Karina was a house, where the lady inside offered me rest. Strangers can be so nice. It surprises me, sometimes. Especially considering how questionable I am morally. When I left the house, I walked down two sets of stairs to see an item ball. This must have been the last, unreachable part of the bottom half of the route. The ball contained a super potion. Whoot. I walked back up the stairs, and talked to the bug catcher dithering outside the forest. He didn't know if he should go in without antidotes. I have a few, and two pecha berries. I think I'll be fine, but the guy really should go back to Floaroma and get some. Telling him this, I entered the forest.
The first person I ran into inside was a trainer named Cheryl who wanted a partner to get through the maze. It actually sounded kind of interesting to team up, so I agreed, but warned her that I'd be taking the long way around. Besides, she seems to have some information on team galactic members, which worried me. Apparently they might have come through here after I foiled plans at the Windworks.
Going to the far left, we found ourselves an itemball with an antidote in the grass. However, that was as far as we could go on that side, so I elected to go north, and then left. I figure if I stick to one direction, no matter how confusing the maze, we'll find our way out eventually. All that we found though, was a weird mossy rock. I kind of like it. It's got a calming presence. But that doesn't make it any less likely that we'd get lost in the woods, so I pressed on, heading right, this time, as there was no left or north option. Unfortunately, the way forward was blocked by some spindly trees, and so were proceeded south. At one point we came to a juncture where we could go North again, and we took it, only to run into some trainers.
Bug Catcher Jack and Lass Briana Wurmple lv. 9 and Pachirisu lv. 14 Beautifly lv. 13 Silcoon lv. 11
Past those two I saw another item ball. It contained an antidote. We walked on through the forest, basically making a u-turn, going to the right, and down. In the middle of the path were two trainers wearing all purple. Well, only one way I could find out who they were, I talked to one of them. She did some weird mojo, and suddenly we were battling.
Psychic Lindsey Abra lv. 15 Note: This one know hidden power, too. It's not very effective against flying/poison types.
Lindsey rambled about the Old Château. I think I've heard of it. It's supposed to be this old building just before Eterna City. Well, anyway, perhaps we're getting close. I went to talk to Lindsey's friend, and hear what he had to way. Mainly, he just wanted to battle.
Psychic Elijah Abra lv. 15 Note: Hidden Power, but it's not effective against poison/flying
Continuing along the path southward seemed as though it was the only option. We were at least rewarded by finding another item ball at the bottom corner of the path before it lead to the right again. It contained a great ball. My day is looking up. We came to an interestion where we could continue right, or go north. There were a pair of bug catchers on the eastern path, which made me decide to battle them, and then go north.
Bug Catcher Philip and Bug Catcher Donald Wurmple lv. 9 and Burmy lv. 12 Dustox lv. 13 and Kricketune lv. 12 Cascoon lv. 11
Going north there was another intersection to the right. I investigated, but it didn't yield anything but another intersection. So we continued north, but quickly came to another unscaleable hill, so had to turn right. Soon enough we found a southward path intersecting with an east ward one. There were a pair of psychics that way, so we went down it.
Psychic Kody Meditite lv. 15
Just a note, but Kody's pretty weird, even for one of these guys. He wants his meditite to be one with him once its fainted. Because it makes so much sense to become one with something that's fainted. What's he going to do, walk around all day in a stupor?
Psychic Rachel Psyduck lv. 15
So Cheryl and I continued straight south until we had to go to the right again, at which point I started getting annoyed. I want to go left! I'd just come from the left, and didn't want to back track, but right seemed to be constantly my only option – oh! Hey! I noticed an item ball on the ground just behind a tree to the right. All right, east, you are a pretty cool direction, I'll admit. The item ball contained a potion. And this right hand path very quickly turned north, which was cool. We went up it for a while, and I began to feel pretty silly about my earlier griping, as there were two left turns I could make. Then I realized that I'd been down them already as they connected with that southward path from earlier. Correction to all original assumptions: I hate this place. Double correction! After an interminably long wade through the grass heading north, I can finally go west! Yep, that's right, west, as in left. Oh! And shiny, shiny item ball is available for my troubles. I got a honey. And then I have to turn right again. Oh well, we're probably coming to the end of this dratted forest. Yes! We are! We just passed the fence to the Chateau. The way in is blocked by some trees, but those should be easy to manage.

Okay, just bought a new Journal. My old one got hit by a water gun from an enthusiastic buizel that I encountered just as Cheryl and I split ways on exiting the Eterna Forest. Yeah, go figure. I've run around Eterna for a few days, already, and all I can say is that Eterna is weird, and likes Team Galactic. They're all over every where, and apparently they've taken some people's pokemon, and possibly kidnapped a few people. Sadly the police don't seem to take these reports seriously. They called it xenophobic mutterings when I went to talk to them.
Still, Eterna has some fun tourist attractions. Got to see a statue of Palkia, and some girl in black gave me a neat HM, Cut. However, I couldn't use it until I beat the gym. Well, I've been training ever since then.

Teran (male aerodactyl) lv. 20 A lax monster who is highly curious He knows Bite, Scary Face, Roar, and Agility Speed >>> Attack >> Sp. Attack > Defense > Sp. Defense
So, my team for facing Gardenia consists of Able, Lagosh, Wootle, Imbi, Ping, and Flit. I have raised all of them to level 20, and they have good moves for defeating grass and poison types. By the way, I think going onto Route 111 is a good idea. I've heard that most trainers avoid it, but there were some people to battle, and I found Wootle, Ping, Stardust, and Pepper there. All in all, really worth it for pokemon who are good against Gardenia. Or if you just like the Noctowl/Hoothoot line, like me. Go Wootle!
Anyway, I'm about to go into the gym. Crossing my fingers for that badge...
Oh brilliant. Gardenia won't let me challenge her unless I find and beat all of her under trainers. I thought that was just a few more easy levels for me, but then I saw the inside of her gym. It's the Eterna Forest all bloody over again! Cripes, am I sentenced to wandering around forever among the trees?!
Oh, hey, to my left and a little south of Gardenia's battle platform there's a trainer!
Lass Caroline Cherubi lv. 15 -- Note to self: I hate Leech Seed! Roselia lv. 15 -- Note to self: Leech Seed is even worse in combo with Mega Drain...
She at least told me where the next trainer was: at the south end of the gym, past two boulders.
Aroma Lady Jenna Budew lv. 14 Budew lv. 13 Budew lv. 15
She told me that the next trainer is in the middle of three trees. I hope this doesn't become like the “Boar is a boar named after wood” riddle from Mossflower. Onward, ho, I suppose.
Aroma Lady Angela Turtwig lv. 17
Angela was even more cryptic than the other two. Something about my final opponent being by four flowers. There are flowers everywhere. It's a freaking GRASS TYPE GYM!
Okay – I'll stop complaining. I just found her.
Beauty Lidsay Roselia lv. 17
Rightyho! Onto Gardenia! She kinda got an upbeat personality, but I'd like to beat her because she's forced me to run around another forest.
Gym Leader Gardenia Cherubi lv. 19 Turtwig lv. 19 Roserade lv. 22
Okay, she's actually pretty nice. I like people who can win and loose, and still be nice -- even encouraging. If my kindergarten teacher were here, Gardenia would earn a gold star. Her forest badge allows pokemon from a trade (this is very important for me) to level up to level 30 before getting contrary. And I got TM 86 – Grass Knot.

Name: Kazeyuki Life: Stinks, too many evil people.
So I haven’t known what I’m supposed to do, really. The only way to get to the next town is through cycling road. But I don't have a bicycle, and the bike shop owner is missing. There's some rumor that he's gone into the Galactic building here in Eterna. Problem is, I really shouldn't barge in and try to find him, since that's rude, and since Team Galactic owns the land, probably illegal. While they haven't posted no tresspassing signs, I'm probably not going to get a nice reception after what I did at the Valley Windworks. Which means that I should wait for the bike shop owner to come out.
Unfortunately, I've been waiting for fours days. Unless Team Galactic is hosting a five day luncheon, I get the feeling that the bike shop owner might have wound up in a similar predicament as the scientist guy at the Windworks. I've been training around Route 111 and planting berries for something to do, but each time I check in at the Bike shop the owner hasn't come back, and he hasn't got a clerk of any kind.
Apparently the police force hasn't interested themselves in this. Perhaps missing persons are common. There's a bug catcher here who has assured me that Team Galactic is too cool to do anything wrong. Yeah, like I buy that argument for a second. He also said the Galactites had been rumored to take someone's buneary, but he didn't believe it. Hello, earth to stupid, these people kidnap other people! A pokemon isn't going to be a problem.
Yeah, anyway, so I've been steeling myself to go into the Galactic building and belligerently ask about the bike shop owner. Funny how difficult it is to do illegal things without Satoshi egging me on. Anyway, here goes nothing, I'm in front of the building, and I've used cut on some of the bushes to get in.
The first floor is crawling with the turquiose haired types. The minion class, as it were. They probably don't know anything, but I went to talk to the guy sitting at a table to my left. All he'd tell me was how Team Galactic was so visonary. Baloney pants. But the next guy walking around actually had hard information! He wanted to take my pokemon, and when I told him to drop off a tall cliff in the middle of the night he said he'd bring pain to me like the Galactics had done to the bike guy. Well at least I now know what happened to him. Time to storm the building, I say! The girl by the stairs, however, had different ideas about what I should be doing.
Galactic Grunt Zubat lv. 14 Glameow lv. 14
The guy across from her wasn't any more friendly.
Galactic Grunt Wurmple lv. 13 Cascoon lv.13
Luckily, both were pretty awful trainers. Although I have to say Glameow aren't too shabby as far as attackers go. I don't think I'll get one, though. Anway, there was nothing more to do on the first floor, so I went upstairs.
The second floor was full of computers, with four grunts using them. I talked to the guy in the second row firs, since he seemed to be all alone, and might be more likely to drop information about what was going on here (and if the bike guy was still alive, or being tortured as we spoke). Sadly he was a blind ideologue, and didn't know anything, but was willing to smash me into the ground for what he didn't know.
Galactic Grunt Wurmple lv. 13 Zubat lv. 13
I then tried the guy diagonally across from him in the first row. He was a bit more reasonable. He told me that Team Galactic is looking for new energy sources. Seems legit, I have to say, until I remember Grunt one's comment about how there's nothing immoral about taking pokemon from other people. Git. Nomden—a flaaffy, for goodness' sakes—nearly bit that guy. Anyway, I interviewed the girl right next to him. She was just a dirty thief using a stolen pokemon.
Galactic Grunt Silcoon lv. 15
After I beat the socks off of her, she complained that it was the fault of her overseers not giving her a better stolen pokemon. I should have let Nomden bite her. Carnivorous sheep sound like such a good idea right now. The girl to her right was another reasonable one, spouting lines about using pokemon to generate energy. Too bad I already know that they're total liars. There was nothing left to do here, so I went upstairs.
The third floor was a mess of partitions and computers, probably office space, normally, but another grunt accosted me as I tried to walk over to the stairs. Okay, I might have tapped her on the shoulder, first. She thought I had come to giver her my pokemon, so I had to straighten out that little misunderstanding.
Galactic Grunt Wurmple lv. 12 Silcoon lv. 12 Zubat lv.12
Beyond her I saw a guy sitting at a computer, and I went to talk to him. He told me I was too stupid to know what was going on—then he said even he didn't know. Gah, these people make me furious. Against a far wall was a scientist. I guessed that he had been kidnapped, so I went up to him to tell him that I'd cleared out the guys who had pokemon on the lower levels, and he should run downstairs, and get the police. Only it turns out that he's in the pay of team G.
Scientist Tavon Kadabra lv. 15
So it turns out Team Galactic has its eyes set on world domination. That doesn't seem too complicated to understand. With that in mind, I ran up the stairs to the fourth floor.
There I saw a purple haired woman in one of the spacesuits with a clefairy and a buneary behind her. And in front of her was some old fellow. Obviously the bike shop owner, and the missing pokemon. I ran up to confront her.
Commander Jupiter Zubat lv. 18 Skuntank lv. 20
Okay, to sum up: Jupiter said that she had finished investigating the statue in Eterna Mars had finished collecting energy from the Valley Windworks Their boss was interested in the myths of pokemon The power of mythological pokemon would allow said boss to rule Sinnoh
None of this is making any sense.
Still I saved the bike shop guy. Apparently they had taken his clefairy because it came from space. I'm not sure why they cared, but still, could be an interesting development. After he left I wandered around the grounds of the Galactic building. Don't ask why, I just wanted to have some time to think. I did find a small path just behind a tree, and at the end of it, someone had left a TM46 – Theif.
Anyway, I popped in at the pokemon center, and found out that the guy there had gotten his buneary back. After I got my party healed, I also paid a visit to the bike guy—after all, I wouldn't have started this whole thing if I hadn't needed a bicycle in the first place. He just gave one to me, without even asking for any money. I would have bought one, anyway, but he just gave me one like that. Pretty generous.
I'm not sure what to do now. I should go down Cycling road, I know, but I'd like to check out that haunted mansion in Eterna forest. Some of the locals have been talking about the ghost pokemon that you can find there. I kinda like ghosts (if you couldn't tell from Kimbley, Hermione, and Goreme). Also, there's a sapling next to the forest that looks like it might be hiding something. I think I'll go there right now. It can't take too long, can it?
Akkk! That annoying bug catcher who was so enamored of Team Galactic won't let me go towards the forest. Keeps telling me about how great my bicycle is and how I should go to Hearthome. Jeeze, I already know this stuff. I just want to check out the forest quickly. Damnit.
Got out my map. If I go down cycling road I can get back to Eterna Forest by following Route 207 into Oreburgh and go through Jubilife to Floaroma. Oh well, it could be worse. Also, once I reach Hearthome, the road diverges. I can either go South to Pastoria, or East to Veilstone. Not sure which I'll choose. Mom has said something about Hearthome and the gym leader there, so that's probably my next stop. I think I'll raise my pokemon to level 28, or so. That should be enough, judging by how levels jump between gym leaders.
On to cycling road!
In the gate house I met Lucas's father, who gave me an Exp. Share (he doesn't know that I already have one from Aunt Lenij, but I won't bother him about that, since it is the thought that counts). Anyway, I made it onto Cycling road. There were a lot of people biking there, so I just decided to keep battle notes, since that was easier than recording where they were. I mean, they're moving, so they probably aren't going to be anywhere near there the next time I swing through.
Cyclist Axel Staravia lv. 17
Cyclist Megan Shinx lv. 17
Cyclist James Ponyta lv. 17
Cyclist Nicole Starly lv.15 Ponyta lv. 15
Cyclist John Starly lv. 15 Staravia lv. 15
Cyclist Ryan Zubat lv. 17
Cyclist Rachel Shinx lv.15 Shinx lv. 15
Cyclist Kayla Pikachu lv. 17
So, I reached the end of Cycling Road only to encounter a girl in the gatehouse who gave me a flag. Apparently it's a pokemon accessory. Nifty. And when I exited the gatehouse I found two Razz berry plants to my left. Pretty nice haul. To the right, two trees cut off my access to a wide path that ran under Cycling Road. I debated going down there, but I decided not to for now. You never know what you might need, and I wanted to get to Eterna Forest as quickly as possible. I'll stop by once I have investigated the Chateau.
Just as I got onto Route 7, Lucas walked up to me. He's got something on his mind, but he won't tell me what. Anyway, he held out his hands and told me to pick one. Then he gave me both the Vs. Seeker, and a poketch app, the Dowsing Machine. It'll let me find hidden items. This will be really useful in Eterna forest, I'll bet.
When I got to the Oreburgh Gate I went down to the second floor, to try the bicycle jumps. I got lucky and found an itemball with TM31 – Brick Break.
Now that I'm in Eterna Forest, looking at the Chateau, I can see purple light glowing from the windows. Maybe this wasn't my best idea. Oh, hey, item ball! Distraction! It's an ether. It could be a pretty good item, I suppose.
All right, I entered the building. It's large, with lots of staircases, and crumbling carpets. The statuary glares at me. I go into the door on the bottom floor, ignoring the staircases. It's an old dining room. To the right, there's a small room with cabinets, and I checked those out, but nothing. To the left is a smaller kitchen. I found an antidote in the trash basket near the north wall. This room is pretty empty and filled with old stains. I'm going to go away, now.
I went up the left staircase, and then went into the first door I saw. It led me to a small room with a bookcase and an item ball. Whoot. I now have an Old Gateau, not sure what it is, but could be useful. Going out of the room, I continued along the second floor, and went into the north door. It lead into a hallway with lots of rooms, so I went to the far left end, and started investigating each room going left to right.
The first room had two bookcases, a table and another item ball. It contained a Dread Plate. Here's the text on the back of it:
When the universe was created the shards became this plate
In the second room there's a creepy TV. I quickly went into the third room where there were two beds and bookcases. The fourth room had a small purple picture on the wall with little red eyes that blinked at me! The final room on the hallway was empty except for an item ball. It held TM90 – Substitute.
The final room on the second floor, behind the door on the right by the right hand staircase, was filled with bookshelves and had a trashbasket.
Okay, getting out of here.

Name: Kazeyuki Feeling: Explorative
So, I got out of the Forest, and then went down to a little trail that ran beside the forest. There I met a nice lady who gave me a Big Tree. It's coming to my attention that all these contest things in Hearthome might be a bit of a deal. There were some items near by, too. A bunch of silver powder (still have to figure out what that means) and TM82 – Sleep Talk. All-in-all I am a happy gal.
So, I cycle down cycling road once more, and take a look at the path under the massive bridge that is cycling road. Once I crossed the stream on the wooden bridge I saw an item ball to my left. It contained a Burn Heal. Continuing left and then turning North I found a patch of berries, and a dead end. However, just over a huge boulder I could see the glint of something red, so I thought that I would try to find a way around by going right as soon as I could, and then left. Just by going right I ran into another item ball. It was a Super Repel. As I continued North, I ran into a hiker who wanted to battle.
Hiker Theodore Onix lv. 15 Onix lv. 15
After defeating Theodore I continued North, and then left for a bit, coming upon the item ball that had caught my eye earlier. I got a Poison Barb for my trouble. In the shade of the bridge there is a short canyon sort of thing on the North side which leads to a small cave – but there are a lot of boulders that block the way. So I went along the north side, and found a wider canyon leading to another cave.
Since it was dark in the cave I hugged the right wall, figuring that if I got lost I would still end up at the entrance eventually. Finally, after innumerable twists and turns I found an Item Ball – An Escape rope. I wonder if I'm being told something.
Several more corners and rocks smashed later I met a person! And he wanted to battle. I'm up for that.
Collector Terry Gastly lv. 12 Gastly lv. 13 Gastly lv. 17
After Terry muttered that he had friends – I don't think so darling – I ran into a ruin maniac, who actually might have been Terry's friend. He certainly wanted to battle me.
Ruin Maniac Gerald Geodude lv. 15 Bronzor lv. 17
Just beyond these two, I found a Tiny Mushroom growing out of a rock. This dowsing machine is awesome. I continued along, still hugging the wall I had chosen, and then after a few twists I met a little girl named Mira. She got lost down here, too. I was happy to help her out. After Eterna Forest I have nothing but empathy with people who are stuck in winding natural formations. Also, I have a good method for getting out of here. Normally, if you're lost, and people know that you're lost—I'll bet her parents are looking for her—then you should wait in one place, so it's easier for people to find you. But I haven't been in here that long, and I'm confident that we can get out of here quickly. And just beyond where I met up with Mira I found a nugget. I <3 my dowsing machine.
Continuing on, we found a potion under another rock. And then, a few turns later, we ran into a pickniker. No idea what she was doing in a cave, but there she was.
Picnicker Anna Meditite lv. 17
With her, she had a friend.
Camper Parker Buizel lv. 15 Shinx lv. 15
He actually wasn't her friend, apparently. He had come here with some of his friends, but gotten lost. Anyway, there was a Burn Heal under a rock just behind Anna. Some long walking later, I think I found Parker's buddies. The first guy said he'd lead me out of here if I beat him.
Camper Diego Cascoon lv. 13 Dustox lv. 17
Turns out he was hoping I'd know the way. I'm not exactly shocked. And the picnicker that we found next? Yeah, she was lost, too.
Picnicker Tori Silcoon lv. 15 Bueatifly lv. 15
Behind and to Tori's right there was an item ball with a rare candy in it. We continued along the twisting tunnels. Eventually we met a lass, who thought that I was a lost pokemon. Yeah. I guess I look like a black haired jynx or something. Anyway, I just had to battler her after that.
Lass Cassidy Buneary lv. 17
Then I met some youngster who wanted to play. I was willing to play.
Youngster Wayne Bidoof lv. 13 Zubat lv. 14 Aipom lv. 15
To the right and behind these two, there was an item ball with TM32 – Double Team in it. A few turns away from this pair, and we found a hiker, who was amazed that I was lost in Wayward Cave.
Hiker Reginald Geodude lv. 15 Machop lv. 15
Apparently he lives here. Well, well, maybe he could tell me where to find a good cup of tea. And there was another hiker right by him. He ate some mushrooms, and doesn't feel so good right now.
Hiker Lorenzo Onix lv. 17
He wants to eat paras! Grrr. I don't like this guy... Behind these two I found a super potion under a rock with my dowsing machine. It took several more minutes of walking, but we did it! We came out of the cave. I'm very proud of myself, and so I sat down and wrote of my exploration.

Name: Kazeyuki Place: Route 207
Alright, time to head to Hearthome City. All I have to do is travel the short route from Orburgh, under Mount Coronet, and then another bit of route, according to my map, and I'm there. But to start off, I encountered some trainers.
Picnicker Lauren Pachirisu lv. 19
Camper Anthony Ponyta lv.19
Past the camping twins, there was an item ball between two blue ventilators. A superpotion is now mine. As is the battle with the hiker just beyond that.
Hiker Justin Geodude lv. 16 Bronzor lv. 18
That was fun, but I realized that a few trainers were running around, and I hadn't found them yet. So I back tracked, and found a small trail along the dip between Oreburgh and 207. Just as I thought, I met with three new trainers.
Youngster Austin Starly lv. 15 Chimchar lv. 18 Geodude lv. 15
Up on a ledge I reached by stairs, I challenged a battle girl.
Battle Girl Helen Meditite lv. 18 Machop lv. 18
There's an item ball on a ledge above us, but I can't see a way to reach it. I turn back to see a hiker next to a dry bridge.
Hiker Kevin Geodude lv. 15 Zubat lv. 17 Geodude lv. 16 Geodude lv. 16
Across the bridge I've got a new item, a dire hit! But now it's time to go through the mountain. Through the mountain, ho. It's dark in here, and there's a lake to my left when I enter. But the path through is to my right, and pretty southwards past another small strip of water.
Holy crap! Some weird guy with hair like a clown just appeared in front of me! He said that people think the world began at Mt. Coronet. He's got some theory about how in the early world no strife existed. He told me that humans are to blame for all violence and problems, and the world is ruined by this. Surprisingly, he doesn't like this state of affairs.
Then he left. That was weird. Was he talking about pokemon battles? Those are fun. I'm one of the humans promoting chaos, aren't I? … Hmm. He might have a point. Eh, he's just a crack pot.
Hey, hidden item in a rock up some stairs to the north. It's an ether, woot. Anyway, made it out on the other side. There's a huge bridge spanning a lake fed by a waterfall, with a rocky pillar keeping the bridge up in the middle of that span. And a few hikers to battle.

Awww, he wanted some of my food. I wish I had some to give to him. What have I been eating since I started? I go around the ledge at the end of the route, and fins an item ball blocked by smashable rocks. Guess what I'm going to do?
It was a pokeball. Now my dreams can be realized. Oh well, just down some steps, and I'm in Hearthome. What's this? Someone wants to battle.
Aroma Lady Hannah Combee lv. 16 Roselia lv. 18
Oh, the old man with the easel by the gate into Hearthome is actually a trainer.
Artist William Mime Jr. lv. 17 Bonsly lv. 17
A black belt just shoved this weird rock into my hand. Wonder what that was about.... Also in a bare patch of grass near by I found a honey. Rightyho. Time to enter Hearthome City. Maybe I'll take part in a contest.
Okay, Hearthome City is large. As soon as I exited the gatehouse, a buneary ran up to me, and a girl in pink ran behind her. Luckily the buneary managed to get bamboozled by the fact that my legs were in the way. Anyway, the girl was Kiera, a judge for the pokemon contest, as wanted me to drop by the hall so she could “thank me properly.”
I decided to do just that, but that's when I learned that Hearthome City is large. I don't know where the contest hall is. I found a gate house out of here, but it was blocked by some people talking about eggs >.>
Hey! I found a nice fisherman who showed me the way to the Contest hall. When we got there, a lady in purple was already in front of it. She was there because she's a Contest Enthusiast. Turns out she's the Hearthome Gym Leader. And she thinks that I'm too weak to face her. Hah! What does she know? Jerk.
Anyway, I went inside, and the first people I saw turned out to be Keira and MY MOM!? I knew she was into contests, but I didn't realize her name was this big in the community. And then Kiera made a big production about me saving her buneary by giving me a “Glitter Powder.” It actually looks pretty, well, pretty. I like sparkly things. Anyway, turns out Mom was here for a little vacation (I'm glad, she doesn't get out of the house enough). And she thinks I look shabby, so she got me a special dress for the contests. Ugg. If I was a boy she wouldn't do this to me...
So, I walked up to the desk, to find out what it was all about. Maybe I could practice, or something. I might not be any good, but I might as well try. A purple haired person in front of me said I should get a poffin case before I enter the real thing. Apparently I could go to the poffin house (wherever in this big place that is) to look into finding one.
While searching for the poffin house, on the second street down from the contest hall and in the apartment building on the east side of town, a nice lady gave me a shell bell. After that, I checked out the pokemon fanclub next door, and the president gave me a poffin case! Well, how do you like that biscuit? Guess I don't need to find the poffin house... unless, of course, I want to make poffins >.<
Anyway, I go down a street to talk to the egg people again, and guess who I run into? Satoshi.
Rival Satoshi Starly lv. 19 Ponyta lv. 20 Roselia lv. 20 Prinplup lv. 21
I won, of course. And found the poffin house, and now I am the proud owner of a mystery egg. And I've come up to a decision. We've got a problem. I've got to defeat two more gym leaders. Well, there are two towns with gym leaders near by. Pastoria to the South, and Veilstone to the North. I think I'll raise one half of my pokemon (I've got about 60 now) for Pastoria, and the other for Veilstone. Level 25 looks like a good level to shoot for. Maybe level 28. I'll see what I can manage. And I think I'll go south, first. I've always wanted to see the Great Marsh.

When I got into the Southern Gatehouse I ran into a reporting pair. They blocked the road, and mentioned that I should go to the Ruins of Solaceon. To the north. I don't like getting my travel plans interrupted. But if I must go to the ruins I must. Then I'll turn right around, and head South.
So, I go through the Hearthome Solaceon gate, and immediately, I'm ambushed by a breeder. Just my rotten luck.
Breeder Albert Bonsly lv. 16 Pichu lv. 17 Budew lv. 15
There is a gassy meadow to the north of Albert, and at the back I collected an item ball with a honey inside. Continueing along the road I met a nice fisherman who gave me a good rood. Whoo! I'm gonna have some fun fishing. But later. Must get to Solaceon, and then turn around...
Went past a jogger, and met some twins.
Twins Emma & Lil Bonsly lv. 19 Mime Jr. lv. 19
Just beyond the twins I ran into a strange girl in a pikachu outfit. Didn't mind accepting her challenge to battle, though.
Poke Kid Danielle Pikachu lv. 19
Heading along the path I passed a jogger, and then saw a weird cone jutting out of the ground. There was a hole in it that could fit the stone the weird blackbelt gave to me, so I put it in. Glad not to have that weighting down my backpack, anymore. Apparently the cylinder was once the Hallowed Tower. Interesting, but not useful knowledge. Heading back onto the main path a breeder asked if we could battle. I liked that idea, so I said yes.
Breeder Jennifer Mime Jr. lv. 16 Cleffa lv. 17 Budew lv. 15
There was a huge pit in the ground beyond Jennifer, and I found a tiny mushroom at the bottom. Wonder what made those pits? In another I found an awakening in a rock. Some stunt riding turned up a calcium on som ground blocked by another pit. Met a cow girl named Shelly who wanted to battle. With bidoof. I now hate bidoof. They don't give any experience.
Cowgirl Shelly Bidoof lv. 14 Bidoof lv. 15 Bidoof lv. 16 Bidoof lv. 15 Bidoof lv. 15
Off to the side there is a large tower. The man next to it said it was the Lost Tower. Honestly, it doesn't look all that lost to me. The Hallowed Tower, now that might be lost, but this is a big white stone thing. I think it's pretty darn visible, myself. Bhind a bush near the man I found TM 47 – Steel Wing. I was so busy celebrating, I ran right into a loving couple. Such an idiot.
Young Couple Ty & Sue Machop lv. 19 Meditite lv. 19
Anyway, I got to Solaceon, and then turned right around, and headed back to Hearthome. I had a little bit of training to do before I headed south. As I trained, I noticed that several of my pokemon were evolving. No biggie, that's what pokemon do. But I thought that I should possibly become more of an expert, so I researched a bit, and discovered that some I might not want to evolve so soon, and others I couldn't evolve fast enough.
Evolution Notes: Pythagoras – Numel: DON'T EVOLVE UNTIL LEVEL 45! I want him to learn flamethrower, 'cause his special attack is through the roof, while his attack is just average Yali – Nidorina: DON'T EVOLVE UNTIL LEVEL 58! Poison Fang is my friend. Plus with enough heart scales I can customize her moveset after evolution Gibralter – Nidorino: DON'T EVOLVE UNTIL LEVEL 43! I like poison jab, but I don't need him to learn anything after that as a Nidrino. Nidoking and megahorn FTW. Rikash – Togepi: I need Togetic as soon as possible, but DO NOT EVOLVE UNTIL LEVEL 51 after that. Hermione – Misdreavus: EVOLVE AFTER LEVEL 23 (done) Greed – Sneasel: EVOLVE AFTER LEVEL 35 Ping – Chingling: EVOLVE BEFORE LEVEL 30 Une – Sunkern: EVOLVE AFTER LEVEL 29 (dun know if I want this little guy around long enough to make Sunflora, though Feirce – Elekid: EVOLVE BEFORE LEVEL 67 If I want Giga Impact. Don't know where I'll get an Electrizer, though... Chryso – Weepinbell: EVOLVE AFTER LEVEL 41 Lenij – Kadabra: EVOLVE ANY TIME Goreme – Gastly: EVOLVE ANY TIME MURKROW: EVOLVE AT LEVEL 45
Anyway, as part of my training, I was playing with the Vs. Seeker. Several awesome people have been training as well, and I've listed the people who have gotten stronger since I first met them. I'm really impressed with these guys, and hope that I can have more opportunities to see them grow.

It also seems as though that in the excitement of the buizel ruining my first journal, I forgot to record information about some fishermen at the end of Eterna Forest, so I'll do that now. There are three of them and the levels of their pokemon might have changed since our initial encounter, but oh well.

Also, I forgot to mention the trainers on Route 211. Probably because I was annoyed by that stupid ninja kid. Oh well, I'll mention them here for the sake of my memory. If you head out of Eterna City, go into the grassy area on 211, and poke the little brown part, you'll meet a ninja lad.

Then, going over a brown bridge, you face a hiker, and a bird keeper in the ravine below.

So, that's about it for all of my prep work. I have my pokies ready to face whatever awaits me in Pastoria, and I'll be heading there tomorrow.
