Mark stared at the building in front of him for a moment, as if debating whether he should knock on the door or hop on a boat back home. He clenched his fist and knocked on the door to the lab.
"If I'm gonna experience somethin' new, might as well start at the bottom," he said to himself. "Can't say I'm not nervous though..."

Professor Cherry suddenly fell out through the door, landing on an escaping Chikorita. He looked up to see Mark, and smiled sheepishly. "Well, hello, there! Sorry about this-we have quite a few little escape artists here. Please follow me inside."
He stepped inside, and put the Chikorita back in a pen with a couple other Chikorita. Two Ekans from another cage slithered around to laugh at it, while the Chikorita just glared back at them.
The professor chuckled, petting one of the Ekans, before turning back to face Mark. "I'm assuming you're here for a Pokemon, eh?"

(OH MAH GOD! Someone else is still here?)
"I can see that..." he said as he stepped inside. "Try putting a Growlithe on gaurd duty..."
He stopped and began thinking of which Pokèmon to choose. He'd heard that Professor Cherry had a Dratini, a Pokèmon which he wanted for as long as he could remember. But at the same time, he wanted a challenge, like raising a Caterpie.
"Yeah, I'm here for a Pokèmon.", he said, appearenlty still thinking. "Ah, do you happen to have any bug Pokèmon?"
After asking his question, he realized he hadn't introduced himself yet, and decided to do so now.
"By the way, my name's Mark.", he said.
(*Feels horrible in comparison to most other people's RPing skills after looking this over*)

((Heheh. Yeah...-_-;; Maybe I'll try to get some other people to join or come back. The problem is...I may be a staff member, but I have no powers. So I can't really do much...if I could, I'd sort of make this place better, and fill up the RP section, add some more alternate RPs, other boards...maybe a plot...that sort of thing.
But I can't, since I have no mod powers. T_T))
"Nice to meet you, Mark,"the professor said happily. It had been awhile since a new trainer had come by, and his Pokemon were getting restless. "And of course we have bug pokemon. You are welcome to a Caterpie or Wurmple...and you'd probably want one of those, not a Weedle. No...Weedle are too rare-I mean, difficult for early trainers. Caterpie are very nice...yes, Caterpie..." Professor Cherry said as he looked rather uncomfortable and paranoid.
((And your RPing is FINE. At least you're literate...-_-))

(Well, I DO have a friend on AIM I could get to join... Just to give you more of a hassle. What can I say, being a bastard is kinda my job. Seriously, I have a contract and everything. Pay stinks, though.)
"Uh... Prof.? You okay?", asked Mark. "You seem kinda... Loony. Eh, no offence meant."
He stared at the (seemingly insane) professor for a few minutes before saying, "Y'know, I'm up for a challenge, I suppose Weedle's one for me. That, and Poison Pokèmon are awesome."

The professor paled a little. "You...want a Weedle? Are you sure? Why not a nice Caterpie? Or a Wurmple? If you get it to evolve into a Dustox, you get a poison Pokemon..."
Meanwhile, in the background, Haru and Hana, the two Ekans, laughed at him being called a looney.

"Well... Caterpies are all too common, and the Wurmple's evolution is random.", he said. "At least with a Weedle there's a 100% chance I'll get a poison Pokèmon."
He glanced over at Haru and Hana and said, "And I think your Ekans are laughing at you."

The professor winced, and glared at his two Pokemon (who only glared back, and let's face it, the glare of two Pokemon who actually know the attack Glare is much fiercer and more intimidating than that of a "looney" old man). "Sometimes I just want to put you with those other two Ekans to give off to trainers! Maybe I SHOULD have given that weird little girl who wanted an Ekans one of you...instead of that stubborn, arrogant guy."
Haru just hissed, while Hana turned her...nose? into the air.
"Hmm...well..." The professor thought about something for a minute. It WAS only a Weedle...and this guy was the first trainer to come in awhile. "Maybe...I'll think about giving you my ONE AND ONLY Weedle. But first..." He grabbed a Pokeball, and opened it. A small Azurill literally fell out of it and onto the floor-it didn't move. The only thing that moved were its eyes, which glanced very worriedly around at both Mark and the professor.
"One of the other Pokemon in my lab attacked this Azurill. Something happened to her before I could get the other Pokemon off of it. I was about to heal her, but then you walked in...so I'll use her as an example. What is wrong with her, and what is an organic item you can easily find in the wild to use to help her?" He asked, pointing to the (almost crying) Azurill on the floor.
((Hint...it's a status condition and a common berry (in Hoenn).))

(Ah, the dreaded quiz...)
"Y'know, I'm just goin' out on a limb here...", he said, looking carefully at the Azurill "But... I assume it was confused... ANd a Persim Berry cures that, I think... But if I'm wrong, which is very possible, a Lum Berry cures any status effect, I believe."
That said, he just stood there and grinned as if to say 'I don't know crap about status conditions, but I hope my years of waxing intellegent payed off...'
(Hey, lookit that, for once I'm only 20 minutes away from the other person. The world must be ending.)

"Heheheh..." the professor chuckled evilly. "You are incorrect. The Azurill was paralyzed, and a common berry to cure it is the cheri berry." He paused, and looked at Mark. "Eh, I like you...you got spunk. Plus, you're the first new trainer to come along here! How about this..." The man quickly healed the Azurill, and said Azurill bounced the heck outta there.
"I'll give you one more chance...just promise me you'll remember things about status conditions. If you have a Beedril, you're going to have to learn more about how to use them, since Beedril are not exactly all-out fighters." He thought for a moment. "If you have a Beedril, and you are up against a fire Pokemon, and you can't switch...what kind of attack would you use?"
((I.e...like...status condition-causing, damage causing via poison-type attack/bug-type attack, defensive...that kind of thing.))

He thought for a moment, pondering different answers.
"Well, it'd all depend upon the moveset.", he said "Since I don't believe Beedrill learn any paralyzation moves through normal evolution, that would be out of the question, I assume. And if it were a newly evolved Beedrill, it would still retain its Poison Sting, which would prove useful in slowly draining the opponent's health. But for more of an impact, a newly evolved Beedrill can use Fury Swipes. However, if it were stronger, it would probably know Pin Missile, which would prove more useful, as it has the same effect as Fury Swipes, but is a bit stronger. But, personally, I'd stick with Fury Swipes, as Pin Missile is a Bug attack, and would probably have less of an effect agianst a Fire type."
After saying this, he gave the same grin as before.
(Hey, at least he sounded smarter this time.)

"But a Cheri Berry is common, a Lum Berry is not," mumbled the professor. Then he looked at the boy. "Eh...well...that was a good answer. I didn't exactly have an answer in mind, I just wanted to see if you had a plan for attacking a fire type...and I guess you did..."
He moseyed over to a shelf, and picked up a Pokeball. "Now, would you like to meet the Weedle just to make sure you want her, or do you just want to take her inside the Pokeball? She doesn't seem like the type to hate anybody...but I just wanted to check."

"Sure, I'd love to get to know my new partner.", he said "Never actually spoken to a Pokèmon I'd own."
This comment sparked a flashback to his days working with Blaine (which I'm going to leave out for my sake, and I'm sure you don't wanna read about shovelling Ponyta poop.)
"Actually, I've never spoken to a Pokèmon smaller than a Magmar, now that I think about it...", he said, thinking about the Pokèmon Blaine owned.

The professor chuckled. "Well, I'm sure you'll get along with her...as long as you don't get annoyed with her, or anything." With that, he opened the Pokeball and a Weedle popped out.
She glanced around, then her eyes fell on Mark. "<Oh...hello, there!>" She greeted sweetly. Then she saw his hair. "<Oh, my! Your hair is all disheveled. Here, let me help you with that, honey,>" she said softly. In a second, she was up on top of Mark's head, trying to straighten his hair (and failing miserably). "<Oh, and are you eating well? I'd shudder to think that a growing boy like you wouldn't be eating his vegetables. Some trainers eat so poorly...and I'd hate it if you got sick! Oh, and if we are to be traveling together, please remember that you can tell me anything, okay, honey?>"
((Heheh. You can leave now, if you want. Just tell me, and I'll type up a bio for her.))

He was silent for a moment, appearently in deep thought.

The Weedle laughed softly. "<Don't worry, honey, I'll never hurt you. I'll protect you from all danger.>"
The professor rolled his eyes. "Yeah, well, just make sure she doesn't get all motherly on, say, a Charmander...she tried to do that to some of our fire Pokemon. Said they looked lonely...almost got torched..." Haru and Hana rolled their large yellow eyes at this. "Anyways," he said as he grabbed five empty Pokeballs, the Pokeball that the Weedle came out of, and a Pokedex. "Here you go. You may leave now...unless you want to nickname her, or something."

She also likes to keep a firm watch on her "children's" hair/fur situation and their diet...while also being sweet. A strange one...
And yes...I gave her Giga Drain. Just cuz. ^_^))

((Yeah...cuz you caused me to see this board, which caused me to ask Ninja Haunter to give me mod powers to revive this board, which caused me to revive it. So yeah. Giga Drain those Geodudes...X3))
The professor waved at Mark as he exited the building. "Crazy kid...at least I don't have to worry about that Weedle, anymore...at at least he didn't ask for any of the REALLY rare and powerful ones."
((You may post in Route 1 or anywhere else now, be it Sankaku Island or the Underground Maze. And I may add another place to go anytime...just cuz...-_-))
