(( Hey, just walk me through this please. ^^ And the title was random o.O ))
The wind gently caressed the young boys light brown hair, as if acting as a natural force of guidance. The young boy named Dusty, roughly the age of ten, smiled in reflection as he marched his first precautious steps into what he hoped would be a grand journey. As his big golden eyes stared up into the heavens, his imagination pulled the clouds together, swiftly forming what looked like the endless number of pokmon he hoped to meet on his journey.
Smiling in reminiscent ,he pulled out his photo album from within his pack. As he caressed the pages lightly, he gazed upon not only the faces of his family members hes left behind, but also upon the beautiful pokemon he has never seen. The pictures of these wild pokemon in their native habitats always brought a sensation or rather longing, for exploration. All these fantastic pictures were of course a gift from the photographer and his big brother, Cody Delgado.
Dusty had just recently been dropped by his elder sibling Cody, whom had traveled his own journey years ago. Coming from Cerulean, Kanto, his family had not expected Dusty to travel all the way to Jenta on his own, especially without a pokemon. His big brother had never been to the glorious country either, and took it upon himself to escort his baby brother before traveling the lands himself to continue his career.
As Dusty reached the laboratory, he plucked a single picture from within its fine plastic covering before placing the book back into his pack. This sole picture was that of a cyndaquil on a grassy meadow, seemingly posing just for the viewer. It was this specific pokemon that the young boy had his heart set on.
With his picture in his left hand, Dusty turned the knob of the door with his right as he entered the famous professor’s work environment. After just a moment of taking in the slightly busy area before him, the wanna-be trainer spotted the man he was sure to be Professor Cherry. With his cheeks burning like fire, Dusty extended the picture nervously as he introduced himself.
“Hello... my.. My name is Dusty..”

The man looked up from one of his many cluttered desks, a dazed expression behind his large glasses. "Eh? Hello, there, boy," he greeted in a gruff-sounding voice, pushing his glasses up closer to his eyes. "You must be Dusty, eh? The boy who wants a starter?" The old professor pushed the wooden chair away from the desk, and stood up. As he did, some of the papers he had been studying slipped off the table, and fell to the floor in a jumbled mess. "Argh! Not again!" This caused the two caged ekans, Haru and Hana, to hiss with laughter. "<Idiot!>" Haru hissed between giggles, while Hana couldn't stop laughing long enough to say much. Professor Cherry's sideways glare did nothing to stop their fun at his expense. Gathering the papers not-quite-so-neatly, the frizzy-haired man shuffled over to Dusty. "Well, then," he coughed, trying to retain some dignity. "I'm assuming you know about the procedure here, eh? Well, if you didn't read up on the group system or what we offer," a crumpled pamphlet and flier were shoved into Dusty's non-picture-holding hand. "Read 'em. Anyway, the way the Jenta Lab works is that you pick your Group 1 starter from this list, and you get two more Pokemon for Group 2 and 3 randomly. You'll get other things, too..." Glancing at the picture with his steely eyes, he raised one grey eyebrow. "Do you want a cyndaquil, eh?" ((The "pamphlet": banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=rules&action=display&thread=1172265494The "flier": banette.proboards51.com/index.cgi?board=getyourstarterhere&action=display&thread=1138767558Oh, and do you want an egg, too? You RP well enough...I feel I must warn you, though, that it would kinda relate to the plot.))

(( Yeah, I’ve been excited about starting this all day. Tomorrow is my last day of work until Wed, but it’ll finish my three-day work-weekend. ^^() And also, I would love an egg! I didn’t even notice that part at the bottom, heh. I like the concept of site-wide plot as opposed to players making up scenarios all the time. Drop a bomb on me, I’m here to play.
Sorry for a short post, but like.. I dunno how to exactly express “Gimme some randomness pls” =) ))
As the professors clumsiness arose, Dusty’s shyness began to diminish. He particularly found the pair of ekans hissing laughter a good ice break. As Prof. Cherry introduced himself and the ‘process’ of obtaining his licence, the soon-to-be trainer listened intently. After grasping the brochures, the question was finally asked.
“You want a cyndaquil, ‘eh?”
With only a slightly hesitant smile, Dusty replied, “Yes sir, Professor Cherry. Very much so. This was the first photo my big brother ever gave me, and I guess that is why its always been my favorite.”
While the professor went about the procedure as mayhaps routinely as any other day, Dusty took the opportunity to quickly study up the brochures with excited eyes.

((Mwa...hahahah...hahah...haaaah...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! >:3 Sorry. I'm plot crazy...it's sooo much fun to plan. And whenever anybody says something, I get all "OMGZ I COULD USE THAT FOR THE PLOTZ!" Seriously... Somebody: Hi Nyaa Me: OMGZ THAT COULD BE FOR THE PLOTZ! )) The professor smiled. Cyndaquil, for some reason or another, wasn't quite as popular as torchic. Even charmander had been suffering recently...and he didn't even want to talk about the recent surge in electrike and pichu popularity! Nice to see the fire-types were getting some good trainers. In fact...this boy seemed pretty good...maybe... Well, now was not the time. Now was the time to focus on the cyndaquil, then work out the egg situation. "Well, cyndaquil is a good choice. Any particular personality or gender you're interested in?" He asked, trying to remember the cyndaquil he had. Haru, meanwhile, rolled his eyes. Shouldn't he have a list or something? And yet, whenever a trainer answered the question with a specific personality and gender, he always had the right one! Weird...

(( Well that is great! Because every roleplayer loves attention, and having even a little to do with the plot makes them feel like they are a part of something. ^_^ ))
The dangling brown hair quickly flew backwards through the air, revealing shining yellow eyes as Dusty looked up from the brochure.
“Honestly, I’m just excited about finally starting this journey. Whatever you have, I’m sure I will love.” With a radiant smile finally brightening his face, the boy continued, “Hit me with your best shot, doc! As my brother always told me, the bigger the challenge, the bigger the reward!”
As the words escaped his lips, his eyes shown that nothing truer could ever be said. He had the heart of a trainer, and was ready for anything and everything.

The professor smiled. Yes, this was a good boy...and he even had a cyndaquil in mind. "I think I know which cyndaquil would be good for you...would you like to meet her? Oh...and if it's alright..."
The old man stepped over to the cage with his two ekans. They swirled around each other, hissing and spitting at their loving trainer. "Just give me that one egg!" He grumbled, holding out his hands. They were always stealing his eggs...
Finally, a brown-and-cream colored egg was relinquished, and the professor cradled it gently. Striding back over to Dusty, he held it out for the boy to see. "This egg...I don't know exactly what's in it. I have some idea, but I don't know if I want to tell you. I think you're a good boy - would you like this egg as well?"

Dusty was ecstatic to know that the professor had a cyndaquil that would apparently be suited just for him. He was even more-so rhapsodic to be offered an egg.
‘But.. I thought only the more advanced trainers were suitable for egg care. That is a lot of responsibility to entrust in someone’, Dusty thoughts nearly betrayed. Before he could express such, he quickly let out, “That would awesome! I’ve never even seen a pokemon egg before aside from pictures, and now you offer me my very own!?”
Dusty gently accepted what would either be a great asset or mayhaps a burden to his future. Of course, such thoughts never plagued a mind as pure as his. He only thought of how exciting this all was.
“And as for the cyndaquil, I would love to meet her!”

"Here then, hold this," the professor grunted as he slid the large egg into Dusty's hands. Shuffling into the back, he came out with a Pokeball. He dropped the said Pokeball, and a small, black, furry Pokemon appeared.
She sniffed the air, and took a good look at Kimishiro. "<You...are...named Dusty. I can tell. I'm psychic. I can guess everybody's name before I meet them.>" She smiled. "<You want to have a Pokemon? Pick me! I'm a greeeeaaaaat Pokemon. Please pick me! I can do all sorts of things, battle, cook, clean, walk your growlithe, bear heavy loads! Pick me! I am the world's greatest cyndaquil!" With that, she spread her arms wide, and almost fell over.
The professor smiled sheepishly. "She really wants to leave, and she's been here the longest..."

The cyndaquil made her dubut as Dusty held the pokemon egg in his hands, having already returned the photo into his pack. As soon as the cyndaquil took notice of him, he felt an energetic presence ambush his mind. It was more of a dizzying, excited sensation as opposed to expressed thoughts, but Dusty could feel that it was the bafflingly large personality of his new pokemon.
“Whoa”, was all he could say for a moment. His head seemed to be rushing, as if attempting to connect minds with the being. Of course, such a thing was lunacy, yet he still couldn’t shake the feeling that there was something special about this pokemon. Shaking his head to clear his mind, Dusty continued.
“She is great! I’m sure we’ll have lots of fun together. Does she have a name?”

The professor shook his head. "I let the trainers give 'em names." The cyndaquil shrugged. "<I am too great to have a name!...But I'll take one if ya got one!>" The professor then pointed to another table. "One last decision for yeh..." On the table was an array of Pokedexes, all in a different color. There was a red one, an orange one, a yellow one, a green one, a light blue one, a dark blue one, a purple one, a brown one, a white one, a grey one, and a black one. "We finally got our dark blue shipment...so, pick one. Any color, they're all the same..." ((The post after this is the Extremely Time-Consuming Final Lab Post! ))

[[ its late, I'm dying... forgive the bad rp n shortness. ]]
Dusty looks down to his new pokemon as she goes about expressing her views in pokespeech, apparently not comprehending that he can’t understand a single word she is saying.
“Alright then. I say she looks like a Seraphina to me!”, replies the new trainer, giving his first pokemon her first nickname.
As the Professor continues, he comes across a very important question. Smiling, Dusty is quick to answer, “I’ll take the green one!”
Smiling down to Seraphina, Dusty then acknowledges his egg. Arching his eyebrows in a quizzical manner, he casually inquires upon the working professor, “Are you sure you don’t want to give me a hint as to what this may hatch into? Maybe a riddle or something if you want to keep it a suprise. Something to keep me guessing” ^^

((Most trainers can, in Jenta. It's not explained, though...^_^;; ))
"Green it is, then." The professor snatched the Pokedex off of the table, and shuffled into the back room with Seraphina's Pokeball. He reemerged a few crashes, two stifled screams, and one very surprised looking growlithe later with a brown paper package.
Once he shuffled back over to Dusty, he put the package straight into Dusty's backpack, since Dusty's hands were full with the egg. "Now then, in that package is your starter set. Inside you will find your green Pokedex, five empty Pokeballs, one wallet with 5000 pyen - that's our currency, a bag of assorted berries for en route healing, and three other Pokeballs. One is empty, and that's for Seraphina. The other two have your Group 2 and Group 3 starters in 'em."
He then lead Dusty over to a large map of Jenta, and prodded the dot marked "Professor Cherry's Laboratory" with his finger. "Here's where we are now. As you can see, there are three land routes going away from my lab. One goes east, one goes south, and one goes north. You may choose to take any of the three."
First, he slid his finger east. "This is Route 1, which takes you east to Sapphire City. That's where Arisa has her ice-type gym. Along the way you see a lot of Group 1 Pokemon who, while strong against the second gym in that area, won't help you all at in the gym. However, you can catch a mankey in Mushroom Forest, which is a little sidetrip on Route 1, and Seraphina could help you against her Jynx. This might be a good route for you."
After that, he pulled his finger south. "This is Route 3, southbound to Botan's grass gym in Florak Town. Along the way you will battle Group 2 Pokemon, so you will be relying on your Group 2 starter for this one. Your starter, I believe, may fair pretty well against Botan, especially if you can back him up with a bird or two, which you can find on this route. This may also be a good choice."
Finally, he traced the north route. "Finally we have Route 5, which takes you north to the mountains. The Settlement of Nga and Bahati's steel gym are underground, so Route 5 has to connect to Sunstone Tunnel to take you there. Your Group 3 starter may fair okay for some of Bahati's Pokemon, though it may very well not, as it has a slight disadvantage. However, along the way you can catch plenty of fire and ground Pokemon to help. This may be a good choice..."
Turning to the boy, he nodded. "Any of them would work. Now then, make sure you have a safe journey, and call when that egg hatches, eh?"
((Aaaaand...here are the stats for your Pokemon. Copy + paste them into your thread in the Applications forum and keep 'em up-to-date!
Cyndaquil Gender: Female Level: 5 Group: 1 Nickname: Seraphina Ability: Blaze: When health gets low, fire power goes up by 1/2 Attacks: Tackle, Leer Personality: Pretty full of herself and energetic. She also possesses some small psychic abilities (and a psychic Hidden Power, if she ever learns the move), and can figure out names of people before she meets them. So maybe she can build on that?
Bulbasaur Gender: Male Level: 25 Group: 2 Nickname: you choose Notes: shiny Ability: Overgrow: When health gets low, grass power goes up by 1/2 Attacks: Leech Seed, Poisonpowder, Sleep Powder, Razor Leaf Personality: Easygoing, nice, kind, and sympathetic. Unlike most shiny Pokemon, he is not amazingly vain or egotistical. He is even nice to his opponents...and also doesn't have much of a backbone, so doesn't take insults well.
Kabuto Gender: Female Level: 45 Group: 3 Nickname: you choose Ability: Swift Swim: speed is doubled in the rain Attacks: Absorb, Sand Attack, Mud Shot, Bubblebeam Personality: A bit slow, spacey, and daydreams often. She is a cheery girl, but often asks random questions at random moments. She really likes traveling, but then again, her idea of traveling is going to an interesting place and staring at it with a blank smile...for a really long time. When she focuses, she's good at battling, though.
Egg Gender: unknown Level: 0 Group: N/A Nickname: N/A Ability: N/A Attacks: N/A Personality: Um...it's an egg?
So...off to Route 1/3/5 with ye! ^_^))
