Lydia: Hey there, this is Lydia. We have some exciting news for you! Aside from the "Pre-Sinnoh Non-Sinnoh Giveaway" going on, we have a super Sinnoh giveaway! Gabrielle is there right now, Gabrielle, what can you tell us about this?
Gabrielle: Well, there's a humongous giveaway going on, hosted by the Monochrome Gym leader, Takahiro Ueda. There are two parts to it, one for his birthday, and one to promote the coming of Sinnoh Pokemon.
Lydia: Cool. So, what is the first part about? I hear it's this package deal.
Gabrielle: Yes, it's the part to promote Sinnoh called the "celebrating four generations" package. You get a standard set of 4 rare candies, 3 assorted capture devices - like Heal Balls or Quick Balls, 2000 pyen, and one Pokemon. For the Pokemon, you can either choose the species or the gender, personality, and group, so there's still some randomness standing beside control. So far I've seen a gible, luxio, and drifloon go out to excited trainers. Also, if you do not want a Pokemon, you can work out a deal to get something else. One such example was a trainer with a dusclops who got an evolution to dusknoir instead of another Pokemon.
Lydia: Sounds awesome! You said there was another part to the giveaway, Gabrielle, can you tell us about that, too?
Gabrielle: Sure thing, Lydia. This is the "partner challenge" part of the giveaway, celebrating the Flipside Gym battle style and Takahiro's birthday.
First, he either tells you if your name has been chosen or if it hasn't. If it hasn't, you have to tell him the name of another trainer in Jenta. Then he gives you two Pokemon that you would have to battle against in a hypothetical double battle. You have to pick one of your Pokemon and one of your partner's Pokemon to fight against them. If he thinks you picked well, then you get an item from Sinnoh and two additional rare candies.
If your name has been called, then he will tell you the simulated battle your partner set up. He will then ask you to simulate one round of the battle - he will tell you the attacks the opposing Pokemon are using, then you have to come up with a counter-strategy involving minimizing the damage, then picking the two attacks you would send back. If he thinks your strategy is sound, then you also get a Sinnoh item and two more rare candies.
If you choose not to participate in this, then you only get one rare candy.
Lydia: Sounds fun! How long does this giveaway run for?
Gabrielle: It technically ends at the end of Sunday, April 22, however, the deadline is extended for those whose names have been called. The only people allowed to participate after the 22nd are ones who have had a kind member tell Takahiro their name to be their partner. So this is a chance to do a good deed - tell Takahiro the name of somebody you don't think will be able to go online, so they can have an extended deadline!
Lydia: That would be very kind, trainers! Also, there's another bit of Sinnoh fun going on in the Altering Mansion! Our very own Dale is there right now, checking it out. Dale, what can you tell me about the new crew in the Altering Mansion?
Dale: Um, yes. Well, independently of the gym leaders' attempts to recruit some Sinnoh Pokemon for the routes, it seems some standard "early-bird" Pokemon from Sinnoh have taken up the Altering Mansion as their new headquarters. We have a lot of the bidoof line running around, um, some of the starly line roosting a little higher up, and a smaller population of the shinx line. So, um, it's a good chance to get some normal-water types, normal-flying types, and electric types that are native to Sinnoh.
Lydia: Wow, I bet those would be helpful to get. Well, everybody, that about wraps it up for today. Happy Sinnoh launch day, and good luck with your training! See you next time!
((So yeah! Have fun.
