To start off, so there is no confusion, all rules from Jenta apply, including battle rules. If you want to refresh your memory click on the Rules and Terms Thread
Basically the academy is a place for those people who's parents don't really want them to face the dangers of a pokemon journey just yet. You enter the accademy as a Level One student. This means that you go to an orientation with everyone else, and are *loaned* a pokemon by the academy to use until you catch your first one in the Trainer Class.
Students in the academy are separated into four levels, based on ability rather than age. All students enter at level one, and then they may raise through the levels if they meet certain requirements with their grades, level of skill, etc. There are some things that are restricted to certain levels, and several things that are covered in each level.
Below is the list of things that you must participate in while you're at each level before you can move onto the next level:
Level One
- You receive a level 10 pokemon loaned to you by the accademy
- You must catch your own pokemon in the wild
- You must receive a 100% on Professor Vervain's type match-up quiz
- You must win a mini-battle with your first pokemon against Professor Vervain
- You must get through Professor Vervain's obstacle course
- You must pass Professor Vervain's basic strategy test
- Your pokemon needs to be raised to level 10
- You must pass the Level One Test
Level Two
- You must Pass Professor Vervain's standard strategy test
- You must have physically caught three pokemon
- You need to raise at least one of your pokemon to level 15
- You must pass the Level Two Test
Level Three
- You must pass Professor Vervain's advanced strategy test
- At least two of your pokemon need to be at level 20
- You must pass the Level Three Test
Level Four
- At least one of your pokemon needs to be level 30
- You must pass the Level Four Test
All most tests have two parts to them, a written part, where you will be presented with questions that your character has to answer, and a practical part, where you face off against a professor and a team of their choosing. The level tests are very much like gym battles, and get progressively harder the higher you advance.
Desipil Academy focuses on its trainer's program, so Professor Vervain's courses and tests are what you need to advance to in levels. However, if you indicate that you are interested in taking the coordinator and/or breeder courses on your application form, you may enter those as well when you have met the requirements for those courses. If you do, there will be additional tests to take when you decide to take your Level Test.
There are many opportunities to train in the gymnasium, where older students are looking to test out newly caught pokemon. Also, when you attend the classes the Professors will often ask you questions, or set you small quizzes to test knowledge. For each answer you get correct you receive a credit. Credits may be exchanged in the school store for items.
You may choose to take your Level Tests at any time, as long as you have met the requirements for your level. Once you Have Passed your Level Four Test you have graduated from the academy, and may transfer your character to other regions in Jenta that strike your fancy.
