((Unoriginal title. This character both intrigues, and angers me.))
Stepping off the vessel that she had unfortunately been on for the past few hours, Charity breathed a sigh of relief. Passing the time in a drab piece of metal was no fun at all. There were no flowers, her attempts to cheer up the other gloomy passengers failed miserably, and there weren't even any pokemon swimming near the boat. She did, however strike up a fabulous conversation with a young man about her age. Charity had found it strange that he suddenly came down with a case of food poisoning, having eaten nothing.
As she searched around the small coastal town, Charity found it to be less spectacular than described. There were no happy, bustling locals or exotic bird pokemon. Gone were the beautiful shores and friendly locals. It was a major let down, but this flowery girl was always the one to see the silver lining in any cloud. Even if it struck her with lightning, as this situation metaphorically did.
Here, in the middle of this tired town on the shore stood a pink and green miss. Long red curls seemed to flow from her scalp, partly covered by a decorated pink sun hat, with flowers and a green ribbon for color. To match her slightly overwhelming hat, a green sun dress -complete with a pink sash-draped her body, hovering right over her matching sandals. Dropping her head to glance at the miniature roses adorning her footwear, Charity marched off parallel with the row of shack-esque homes.
One of these must belong to that young Professor! I wonder which?
Wandering aimlessly, Charity found herself at the doorstep of a young couple, half-dressed and winded ((heh)), an elderly woman who raved about the cost of food nowadays, and two breeders who must have had vision problems. The way the two of them looked at her, that was the teen's only reasonable assumption. Finally stopping before at the last house, Charity jumped into the air in celebration, happy to have finally found the Professor's residence. It had to be the Professor's. Of course, there was only one problem: she hadn't decided on a starter. All that time on the boat, and Charity hadn't given it a thought.
There was that shell one, and...uhh.....one was yellow...and...oh! There was a Sunkern! Of course! Oh, it was so cute!
Her mind set, Charity knocked on the door vigorously, awaiting the Professor. As she waited, she shook her hand tiredly. The door was much more solid than Charity thought...

There was a yelp of suprise, a shriek of profanity, and a girlish giggle before the door was opened. Agatha Kauri, a young dark-skinned woman clothed in a black spaghetti strap shirt, a grey sweatshirt around her waist, some boot cut blue jeans, and some dirty sneakers (and not a lab coat in sight) answered the door with a strange-looking potted plant held in one arm.
The potted plant smiled cheerfully at Charity, giggling cutely.
Kauri smiled a more tired smile than her sunkern compatriot, looking at Charity apologetically. "Sorry, she sorta shoved her pot off the windowsill. Accident, like always. She's kinda scatterbrained, but nice. You're here for a Pokemon, right?" The young woman beckoned the girl in with a jerk of her head, then stepped aside to allow the girl to actually come in.
The woman put the plant Pokemon down on the ground, making sure not to accidentally step on her. The sunkern chittered happily, and Kauri grinned. "She says hi, and that she hopes you're day has been accident-free." The woman placed her hands on her sweatshirt-sleeve-covered hips, and looked at Charity. "So, what sorta Pokemon're ya thinking about?"

As the door swing open before her, Charity was sure she had the wrong...shack. The completely relaxed girl standing before her could not possibly be the Professor. Ready to apologize and leave, Charity noticed the adorable little plant the woman was holding. She wanted it more than anything she had ever wanted in her life. What's more, it appeared to be a sunkern.
IT GIGGLED!!!
Charity's eye twitched momentarily in reaction to the seed-like plant's giggle, which only added to how completely cute it was. This girl was lucky to have such a wonderful little sunkern. Charity pegged her as a trainer. But, when Agatha spoke, the wannabe trainer found that she was indeed at the house of the Professor.
"Yes, yes. Oh, that sounds like something I'd do if I were her.", she chuckled, accepting Professor Kauri's invitation. Stepping over the threshold, Charity looked around the small home. From the glances she had gotten inside the other houses, Agatha's seemed one of the nicer ones. The sunkern's undecipherable speech almost made Charity swoon. Even the way she talked was adorable.
"Oh, that's sweet. She's so cute! How do you resist hugging her to pieces?!", Charity giggled, looked up as the Professor stood full akimbo before her. "Well, I actually was hoping to get a sunkern. I love Grass-types, and it was the only one there was. Or, do you have any others? If not, I just hope I can get a sunkern as cute as yours.". Smiling down at the Grass-type pokemon, the girl curled a strand of hair around her finger, seeming to zone out. Charity wasn't exactly the most attentive, and had quite the short attention span. She hoped the Professor wouldn't keep her for too long.
((Ergh. My muse has left me. I'll have to steal someone else's. *sneaks away*))

The professor thought for a moment. "She's the only grass-type of the eight I put together for this round of starters...I got a phone call just before you stepped in to see if I had a trainer who wanted a goldeen...but as you can probably tell, goldeen aren't grass-types. So yup, she's the only one."
Kauri pointed down at the smiling sunkern. "You want her? Another boy - he's outside taking a phone call - expressed interest in her, but you seem like you really want her. I haven't heard from him if he's okay with anything else. If you really want only her, I'll probably give you first priority."
The sunkern chirruped a comment about how much she liked potted plants, and that it was fun to be one sometimes. Kauri simply rolled her eyes.

"Hmm...goldeen's are pretty cute, but sunkern's are so CUTEEEEEE!", Charity replied, thinking out loud. While level of cuteness was a major factor, so was type. Grass-types reminded her of flowers, and the sunkern was like a little seed of hope. Hope was something she lived on. Agatha's fishy addition didn't sway the girl's decision. A sunkern it would be.
"You mean, that's the sunkern?!", she raved, excited at having just caught on. "I thought she might've been yours, but, I..I...Yes, I want her! Such an adorable little sunkern is meant for a girl, anyways." Crouching down to pet her soon-to-be pokemon, Charity matched its smile with her own. This place really wasn't as bad as she had thought. A sunkern, a new start, and maybe a new hobby in seashell collecting. This trip to Miteinjan was definitely looking up.
I'm so lucky...
((Heh. Complaint withdrawn.))

Kauri smiled. "Well, she likes you, so I see no reason why you shouldn't have her."
The sunkern cheeped out her enthusiasm, rocking her pot a bit. Kauri's foot shot out, stopping it before it fell, but that still didn't faze the grass-type.
The scientist then grabbed the sunkern's Pokeball, as well as a grey, metallic, flip-open handheld computer. "Here's her Pokeball, and that's the Miteinjan Pokedex. Lame, huh? All it does is give you information on your Pokemon, once you plug in the Pokeball, and act as an account card for money. You already got 5000 pyen in that account - use it wisely, cuz it'll be awhile before you get any more."
She then stretched. "You can take the pot, if you want, too...oh, but other than that, you're all done here. You might wanna at least stop by the storage shack before you leave for Fog Path, but yeah. You can leave."
((Statses!
Sunkern Gender: female Level: 5 Nickname: you choose Ability: Chlorophyll - speed increases in the sun Attacks: Absorb, Growth, Mega Drain Personality: Very sunny - though she's a bit klutzy. She likes to sit in the sun, and gets a little sad if it's really dark out. Sometimes she is a bit slow on understanding things, but she's a calm, happy, optimistic girl who won't let the fact that she can't to math to save her life get her down!

Clapping out of sheer delight, Charity resisted the urge to jump in place. She was actually about to get her first pokemon. The sunkern seemed excited, as well, having almost fallen over. Giggling girlishly, the trainer beamed at Agatha, awaiting whatever formalities were next to come. The pokedex, pyen, and basic items that Charity had thought would be provided were nowhere in sight. All the flowery trainer got was some drab device and the grass-type's pokeball.
Oh! There's pyen on my account. Still....that's all?
"You can have the pot. I have no way to carry it, really.", Charity replied, taking the pokeball and wannabe pokedex from Agatha. "Thanks so much for everything, Professor Kauri!" Giving the woman a quick hug, she returned the sunkern to her pokeball (minus the pot), and trotted out of the shack with device and sphere in hand. Looking down at the pokeball, Charity mouthed a simple 'Hello', heading off toward Fog Path.
Arriving at what she thought to be the warehouse, Charity struck the door three times, Stepping back to wait from an answer. Releasing the sunkern from the pokeball to her hand, the trainer grinned widely. The grass-type was unable to talk, still in awe that she had a trainer.
((Eh <'bout the post. Yay for sunkern stats!))

A kindly old woman turned her head to stare blankly at the nice girl who stopped by for a short visit. She held out a miracle seed charm necklace on a shaky hand, smiling her drooly smile. "For...you...take..."

Slightly taken aback as the wrinkly old woman came into view, Charity admired the beautiful necklace instead of dwelling on the woman's blotched skin and sunken eyes. It wasn't that the trainer didn't like the elderly, they just...scared her sometimes. Bowing her head politely, Charity accepted the gift, quickly placing it around her neck. "Thank you so much...", she replied, adding thoughtfully, "it's magnificent!" Smiling at the woman, Charity turned in the direction of Fog Path. She then set off at a trot, seed around her neck, and Hope's capsule in her hand, her adventure finally beginning. There was no better feeling. Charity really didn't enjoy fog, though.... ((The world accepts... ))
