"Okay, these spikes are getting annoying, Metagross, psychic attack on those spikes!" Rachel commands, and the Metagross glows with psychic energy, which spreads to the spikes, and flings them right at the Skarmory.
(Just to be fair, they'll settle back on Rachel's side of the field, but I wanted to give that Skarmory a taste of his own medicine.)

The skarmory rolled his eyes, flying up higher, and higher, halving the damage by flying up as they stopped levitating...feeling them glance off his skin like the annoying type-he-was-resistant-to attack it was.
Wow. The five that hit him totally didn't hurt - that metagross had no idea what it was doing. And, the skarmory realized happily, they settled back down on its side! Wonderful!
Then he frowned. The metagross, like him, was a steel-type - that meant it was resistant to poison.
Darn.
Oh well. Better get it out of there - it had taken some damage, and that was enough.
A few wing-flaps later, the metagross was blown safely into its Pokeball, and the wind had already replaced the field with another of Rachel's Pokemon.
((Number generator gets you 1, so that's your blaziken.))
The skarmory frowned as a blaziken fell onto the spikes. He didn't like this one...it was pretty ugly, too.

The Blaziken groans as she steps on the spikes, and kicks them off her foot before taking a battle stance."Alright Blaziken, use Blaze Kick!" Rachel commands, and the Blaziken flares up, pushes off from the ground, for a jumping firey kick, aimed at the Skarmory.

((Ruin, you have got to post that your pokemon was hit by the the spikes, and is in pain. Otherwise it's double damage to your blaziken.))

The skarmory shrieked as the foot collided with his, and he quickly fell back. He landed on Ame's side of the field, rubbing his hurt foot against the pavement.
"You okay?" Ame asked, a little worried. The bird hadn't tried to dodge much - he got a bit used to going up against Pokemon who hurt him about as much as a wadded up piece of paper thrown by a baby grimer.
The bird glared at her, and she stepped back, not wanting to be cut down by her own Pokemon. Nevertheless, he tore up the field at the blaziken, wanting to get the infernal the-word-he-wanted-to-say-would-get-censored off the field before it could feel happy it caused him some damage.
So, one whirlwind later, it was safely in its Pokeball and out came a ((number gen gets you 2)) swampert onto the spikes.
The skarmory sneered. Shouldn't be too hard. Even so, he flew up as high as he could, knowing the height from which he hovered would put the swampert's attacks at a disadvantage.
