((This is going on while other things are happening...so yeah...))
All his Pokemon safely stowed away, Celyn stepped into the stairwell on the shelter floor. He took out his cell phone, and checked the reception. Horrible. Grumbling, he started up the stairs, hoping the bar would grow as he ascended.
All of a sudden, he realized he was at the top of the steps, and there was a door. The reception was 75%...shrugging, Celyn opened the door, and stepped out onto the windswept, sunny rooftop. He glanced around, taking in the picnic tables, vending machines, and odd person. Walking over to the railing along the side, he glanced down at the reception for his phone. His eyes widened just a tad.
Perfect reception! Amazing...
He pressed a few buttons, calling one of his people on speed dial. Holding up the silver phone to his ear, he peered out over the building, tapping his foot impatiently.
Celyn frowned. Stupid answering machine...
After he heard the beep, he unconsciously put on a businesslike smile as he began to record his message. "Hello, sir, this is the breeder. I've adopted the shiny vaporeon. Please call me back when you have the donors in mind - I want to check the scans out myself. I want to make sure they're compatible enough with her to produce healthy and high-quality eevee cubs. I'm pretty sure you know my number...so I shall await your call. Good-bye." He pressed the call termination button, and sighed. "He's never available when I need to speak with him. It's bad for my business..."
The young man leaned against the railing, zoning out as he looked over the region spread out before him. It was such a lovely view...

((Ack! You posted before I could get the information up! ;_; Oh well...grumble...))
Samantha sighed, surveying the view below. Her eyes felt heavy, and her stomach seemed to have twisted itself into a parody of a Celtic knot. She'd lost Shasta...
Sniffing, she looked up at the clear blue sky. Such a happy, cheery sight...darn it, the SKY was mocking her! She sighed again, then almost jumped when she heard a man's voice talking next to her. Whipping her head around, a surprised and flustered expression on her face, she frantically thought of how she'd answer the man without crying...
Oh, wait. He was on his cell phone. Drained of her energy, she just stared blankly at the young man until he finished his message. After awhile, she realized he wasn't paying any attention to her, and shook herself out of her reverie.
Sighing again, she took her spot next to him, staring out into the atmosphere above. What am I gonna do? Samantha thought, feeling the hopelessness take ahold of her once more. Shasta's gone...I'm never gonna see her again, am I? I...I...I wish I could get her back. Just to be with her again. I want it so badly; I'd kill to have her back with me, she thought, full of despair. I could...
I could take a training leave from college, she suddenly thought, an idea bubbling to the top of her head. Her eyes brightened. An idea? Maybe it would give back her Shasta! I could - oh wait, I don't have any Pokemon. No, I'd get David. I'd just tell the trading center people that I would be on the road, not in Sapphire City...yeah, that'll work. I'll use him until I get something better. So I'll travel all around Jenta - well, Florak first, of course, and I'll find Shasta. I'll make them give her back, Samantha thought, her idea becoming more and more clear. I'll make them give her back to me.
The woman grinned maliciously, then realized something. She wasn't violent, she couldn't hurt anybody for Shasta. Her spirits fell once more, and she sighed yet another time.

Celyn eyed the woman next to him curiously. Was she schizophrenic, or was she just having some extremely complicated internal monologue? He couldn't tell...
He smiled smoothly. "Are you feeling quite alright, miss?"
The wind played with his hair and shirt, and he had to rearrange the mass of hair on his head in order to keep a respectable appearance. Curse the huge winds atop the building's roof...
After Samantha was quiet for a while, Celyn stared out in the direction she looked in. "It's a nice view, is it not?" he asked, trying to strike up some sort of conversation. Even though he didn't know the girl, the silence felt awkward enough to warrant talking.
That, and he had to pass the time somehow until he called him back...stupid "boss-man", never returning his calls in a timely manner!

Samantha tensed up for a second. The strange boy was talking to her. She looked over at him, a bit confused. "Umm...yeah, the view's real nice," she muttered, not exactly hearing herself.
She paused. "So...who are you?" She smiled a confused smile. Talking to strangers was weird, and she always made a point to turn talking strangers in to talking not-so-strange-ers. "Are you, um, a breeder or something? I overheard you talking about, like, breeding...or something..."
Inside, she was hitting her brown-haired-head repeatedly. How come she was so bad at talking to people when stressed out?
She stared out at the landscape below. "Um...so, what's your name?" Samantha asked before she could stop herself. Only then did she realize her mistake.
If she asked for his name, it would only be polite to give hers...and did she really want to do that? He was a total stranger, and she didn't have any Pokemon on her at the moment. No doubt he did.
It could potentially turn problematic.
"My name is...Su..san...nah, by the way. Yep. Susannah," she stated, growing a bit nervous. Well, it sounds a bit like my real name - argh! Why am I being so stupid today?

Celyn's eyes widened. Susannah? he thought. That sounds like...she's another grunt, probably. I wonder who she works for...oh, but I can't just go out an ask her, or somebody will overhear...I'll try to work my way around saying anything directly, then.
He grinned at Samantha. "I'm Celyn, nice to meet you. So, Susannah, what are you after? Something...shiny? Or are you going for an eevee?" He looked her up and down. "You don't look like an eevee trainer, so then...shiny?" Celyn paused, then smiled. "Hold on, I've seen you before. You worked at the Eggery, right? Oh! And they had that shiny dratini and...zigzagoon, was it? You wanted one of them, huh?"

Samantha tensed as he mentioned Shasta. Tripod she didn't as much care about - she was cute, but so were all the others. Shasta was special. Tripod, sure, she was an amazing Pokemon with perfect stats and a great attitude, but she went to a good trainer.
There was something inherently wrong with what happened to Shasta. Not to mention the fact that some strange girl had come in to try and stop the adoption from happening. That had to be important, right?
"Um...yeah. The dratini, Shasta," Samantha sniffed. Then she sighed, and it all came tumbling out. "I really wanted her, you know? I needed her - she was like, the one Pokemon I needed go get. Then some weird lady came in and took her away from me - she wasn't supposed to get Shasta! I was supposed to get Shasta! I spent all that time getting to know her and caring for her...I was really trying to save up all the money I had so I could take her away from that stupid place...but then...then..." She sniffed again, and smiled shakily at Celyn.
"You probably didn't understand a word of that, huh? I just...I dunno. The woman who got her said she was going to try aromatherapy on her, or something. She had some problems, like she was blind and mute. Pretty weak, too. But she was shiny. I'm guessing the woman just got her to show off to her friends as a shiny dratini! I mean, I was going to care for her! I wouldn't need to put her into the PC - I could have taken her places myself..."
She sighed, leaning against the bars. "I wish I could have gotten her..."

((Just to get Celyn and Sammy outta this infernal building, I'm going to auto Sammy. Neko, if you think I did a bad job, just edit in whatever...))
So she's in that branch...got it. She must have failed the assignment, then, Celyn thought, smiling softly at Samantha. "That's horrible that you couldn't get her, Susannah," he told her soothingly. "But you shouldn't give up. Do you know where the woman took Shasta? Maybe we could go find her and get her back."
Samantha looked shocked. "But - wouldn't that be...illegal?"
Celyn shrugged. "Not if you traded. Do you have a Pokemon you'd be willing to trade?"
The girl pouted. "Oooooh yeah. My stupid, violet dragonair, David. I just wanna get rid of him. He's always attacking me - he's in the Trading Center right now, but nobody's made an offer yet!"
The breeder nodded, then thought for a moment. Then he grinned, looking back at Samantha. "I've got it. You get David, and we'll go to wherever this woman is. We can convince her to trade Shasta for David, and you defeat two pidgey with one stone. You can get Shasta and get rid of David, thereby completing the job you need to do."
The young woman smiled. "Yeah...um, heh. I already told my college that I was taking a trainer's leave...it was a stupid decision, but I guess it's okay. Thanks, um, Celyn."
The two continued to talk for a bit, ironing out the details of their impromtu double journey. Then they left the roof, walking down a few floors to the Trading Center.
((...Horrible...but oh well.))
