All right, new roleplay, starting in Kanto. It's like our sadly twitching "Travel Through the Cities" games, only you don't have to create a character bio, and there are a few different rules.
Roleplay Splash: Welcome to the Kanto Region, the gateway to the wonderful world of pokemon. It's December 2nd, 1948. In three days a boy named Samuel Oak will be born in a small town called Pallet. Or he won't be.
Jirachi granted a wish he should not have, and now someone has the time changing powers of Celibi. And they plan to cause as much chaos in the pokemon world as possible. Starting with the killing of Professor Oak. Of course, neither Celibi or Mew are exactly happy about the arrangement, and have decided to stop to crazed person by sending people back in time to save the baby professor.
Are you going to track down the Ill-Wisher? Or will you try to save the life of the yet to be born baby? Or will you try to cause as much chaos to the structure of the space time continuum as possible, because, let's face it, the legendaries should probably have taken care of the problem on their own, rather than let other people manage it?
Roleplay Rules:
1) You don't need to create a character profile, just have your character appear, and explain them as best you can in your first post. This RP is for experienced, and competent players. If you feel a profile is easier for you to work off of, then fine, make one, I'm all for it. If you plan to use another character from somewhere else on this site, then please remember that they are only allowed to use pokemon that they have captured, and fit with the rule requirements below.
2) Please note that your character comes from somewhere in the known game world (Johto, Kanto, Sinnoh, Hoenn), and when Mew and Celibi send you back, you only have items that are from the time period. Yes, it is a little stupid of a couple of legendaries to try to stop a time traveling assassin with a bunch of random people from "the future," but they aren't so stupid as to create random ripples in the space time continuum by having a lot of futuristic gadgets dumped on people from 1948. If your character had something, a pokedex, for example, then Mew would have happily crunched it up into a little ball with telekinesis, while you were being transported. Luckily for you, your clothes will be adjusted for the proper era, so you won't arrive naked.
3) Pallet is a sleepy little town that is terrorized by monsters who live in the long grass that blocks the path to the only city. You cannot leave the town except in large groups, or on the ferry to Cinnabar. Pokemon have not yet been tamed, or captured -- all of these things were innovations of Professor Oak, so imagine what the world will be like if you don't manage to keep him alive.
4) For this first adventure your character may only have one pokemon that Mew and Celibi believe wouldn't be suspicious to the residents of Pallet Town. Although wild pokemon are not tame the way they are today, there are a few pokemon that are common pets that someone might have: meowth, nidoran, ponyta and growlithe. This will change, as the game progresses (I.E. the first plot event "Saving Sam" is completed)
5) Also, continuing on the theme of battered ancient technology, and whatnot, you can't understand pokemon here. No translators, see? They squeal, purr, bark, and growl, but that's about it. They are intelligent, but there is a massive language barrier problem.
6) What happens in 1948 does not stay in 1948. When the first adventure is done, unless your characters have managed to keep everything as similar and same as possible, a new "present day" plot will begin, with reality having been altered according to what was left over from the three hectic days. And if you don't manage to figure out who the Ill-Wisher is, there probably will be another time journey plot in the offing, with more alternate reality mayhem occurring.
7) No random insights, please. RP without godmodding, or going crazy. We're going to assume that Celibi, and Mew picked competent, careful people to be their anti-assassin squad. However, they did not pick clairvoyants who will suddenly swoop down, and say: "Jo0 are the Ill-Wisher 'cauza my onicient friends in the sky from other dimensions told me so. Ph3ar my powerz."
8) Your character automatically knows that someone is trying to kill the young Professor Oak.
9)Thanks to a small gift from Mew, you are immune to telepathic probes, so if you meet someone who is psychic and they try to read your memories they will see memories appropriate for someone from the 1940s time line. Unfortunately, this psychic shield also exists on the Ill-Wisher.
RP CHARACTER SHEETS
Here is the list of people from around Pallet, and a list of the strangers who have come to town over the last week. The Ill-Wisher could be anyone among them, so watch carefully, and see if you can catch them:
Vester Carry - The head of the Carry family, an old and respected family that has always lived in Pallet Town. 53, with graying hair, and a slight limp, he remembers the war between Kanto and Johto with bitterness. Needless to say, he doesn't like Johtoites.
Lizzy (Elizabeth) Carry - Vester's wife, with black hair and black eyes. She used to be considered Pallet's Town beauty in her day. She is still pretty, at 49, but considers raising her daughters to be more important than showing off.
Bessie (Elizabeth) Carry - The eldest Carry daughter at 19. She is always frowning about something, and is generally sour. She works as a laundress.
Julia Carry - She is 17, and has all of her mother's friendliness and good looks. She recently started a job as Ronald Oak's secretary.
Richard Carry - Deceased. He died in the recent war at 18 years old. He was the apple of his mother's eye, but his father and younger sister Bessie seem to have been hit hardest by his death.
Ronald Oak - This young man comes from a lot of old money in Saffron City. However, he wanted to settle down with his wife in the country, now that she's having a baby. He still writes a lot of letters to his family, and goes on wildlife exploration trips to take notes about the biology of life. He has hired a girl from the town to act as his secretary, and take notes for him.
Emilia Oak - The young and very pregnant wife of Ronald Oak, she is always cheerful. She went to art school in Saffron City, where she met Ronald. Emilia used to go out with Ronald on his exploration trips, and take notes for him, but now that she is pregnant, Ronald hired a secretary to give his wife a break.
Reggie (Reginald) Miller - He's the young green grocer at 26, just back from college, when he discovered that his father died. He now runs Pallet's grocery store with his mother.
Madelyn Miller - The widow of Barnabus Miller, and Reggie's mother, she's still in deep mourning for her husband who died of a stroke. She wants Reggie to settle down, and run the family business, and wishes that his eyes would stop wandering after certain women.
Jennifer Loger - This 86 year old woman lives alone with her many meowth on the outskirts of town. She runs a boarding house, but last week, for some reason, almost all of her regular boarders left.
Arthur Ipswith - A traveling seed salesman who is currently lodging with Mrs. Loger. He says he's waiting for the Ferry from Cinnabar, but he's over slept the last two days that it arrived, and has been stuck in Pallet for that reason.
Linda Murphy - She arrived on the last ferry. Young and sweet, no one knows where she's from, or what she does, beyond being a little too friendly with the men in any room she's in.
Brandon Erzacruz - He arrived at the same time as Linda. The young man claims to come from Fuchsia, and used to work as a boot black. Now he's doing odd jobs around the town, mainly clearing snow from rooftops. He has a room with the Oaks.
Mable --- A lonely girl (she's 12) who tramped into town from the Viridian Path. She doesn't know where her parents are, and keeps on making up stories about how she got to Pallet.

FIRST DAY: December 2nd, 1948, Monday
"Llo, Mrs. Oak," Brandon's breath puffed into the cold air as he tipped his hat to the woman coming out of the grocers'. "Does Mr. Oak know you're up and about? I thought he said --,"
"You never mind what he said," Emilia chuckled, her honey blond hair turning white from the snow landing on it in little flakes.
Brandon shook his head, dubiously, and lowered his blue eyes to the roadway he was sweeping clear. "Ma'am, you should go home. It's too cold."
"Nonsense, young man. Reggie, back me up here," she turned her head, and looked pleadingly at the young man who was trying to carry some boxes out of the cellar.
"Well, a woman always knows her own mind best," the brown haired man replied genially. "Good morning Mable. Mother has some hot cider for you, if you've been a good girl."
"Really?" the young girl looked up at Reggie Miller, tears forming at the corners of her eyes. "I ain't had a hot cider -- since -- since our house burned down and I ran away."
"Now, now," Reginald looked exasperated. "What did Mother say about tellin' tales?"
"But, it's the truth, Mr. Miller," Mable pleaded.
"But yesterday you told me that your parents were attacked by a swarm of fearow, and you went to live with your aunt until she died from pneumonia," Reggie tried to point out.
"Well --," the young girl looked thoughtful, "they both coulda happened."
"Run along and get your cider," the young man sighed. "Hello Mr. Ipswith. Miss the boat again did you?"
"O' course," the big brown man didn't look that worried by events. "But I'll make the next one. It sails at twelve PM, on Friday."
"Lucky you," Emilia smiled. Mr. Ipswith looked alarmed.
"Should you be outta the house ma'am, in your condition?"
"Don't be silly, Arthur. I am not going to break by walking down to get milk."
"Julia could have gotten it," Brandon pointed out, scowling slightly. "She's around the house enough to do some more jobs for you. It's not as if Mr. Oak needs a secretary."
"Brandon, Miss Carry has other things to do, besides, I like going out," Emilia replied rather sharply. "And I'd like all of you to stop coddling me."
"Hey, I'm not coddling," Brandon put up his hands, and the broom fell to the cobbles with a smack, nearly landing on the shoes of another young lady. Unlike Emily, she was wearing make-up, and she grinned at Brandon as he hastily moved to pick up his broom.
"Why Blondie-Boy--,"
"Don' call me that Ms. Murphy," Brandon growled.
"You're so cute," Linda grinned, her teeth flashing white against her red lipstick. "Hello Reggie, how are you today?"
"Fine Linda," Reggie drawled, setting down the boxes, to let his eyes rake over the slender figure. "You?"
"Oh, well, tricks haven't been what they once were. One of Mrs. Loger's meowth clawed me something cruel last night. Hello Arthur, you're awake at last, I see."
"Miss Murphy," Mr. Ipswith nodded to the curvy female, trying not to look embarrassed. Brandon's fair skin broke out into an angry blush under his freckles, and he began to sweep the snow vigorously.
"Well," Emilia said, obviously feeling that the day wasn't quiet enjoyable now that Linda had shown up, "I must be running on home."
"I'll go with you," Brandon answered quickly. "I forgot to bring fresh air with me to work today."
