Bugsy was knocked backward by the gust, but bounced back.
"Pin Missile!" commanded Law.
Bugsy sent five more spikes at the bird who could really hurt bugs, appearently.

The pidgeotto cawed, diving down. She winced as all the missiles hit, and her eyes started to grow a bit tired...
Nevertheless, she flapped her wings to send a Gust hurdling down at Bugsy.

Bugsy was hit by the Gust and KO'd.
"Well... This can't be good... Um... Now what?" He recalled his Pokèmon and sighed. If only he'd take the time and actually leveled up his Pokèmon.

((I just realized that pidgeotto are THE best Pokemon to catch...they know flying-type moves to defeat Botan with, and a dragon-type move AND the ability to fly to help with the Vs. Corwin battles...@_@))
The pidgeotto sneered, and flew down. She picked a few berries off a tree, and dropped them in front of Lawrence. "<Heal your weak Pokemon with those. Obviously I don't have to stick around if you aren't going to continue the battle,>" she chided before flying off into the distance.
Meanwhile, a clefairy bounced up, a curious look on his face. He peered at Lawrence. "<Did that pidgeotto win? That's too bad...>"

"That was sort of helpful..." He fed the berries to his downed Pokèmon. He turned to the Clefairy. "Yeah, dang birds."
Bugsy was up and ready to battle before realizing the Pidgeotto was gone. "<What happened...?>"
"You lost."

The clefairy shrugged. "<I always thought birds were pretty weird...in the head, you know? So, what are you doing here? Traveling to Florak, I'd suppose. Do you need help training?>" He eyed Bugsy. "<You should probably have him fight against things that can't beat him so quickly...pidgeotto are a bit strong. Maybe you should go into the forest areas and fight against grass-types? It would help you prepare for the gym better, if you wanted to use him.>" He paused. "<On the other hand, a bird would give you a type advantage...>"

"So would a Bug-type." He stood up and looked at the Clefairy before turning to Bugsy. "... PIN MISSILE!"
Bugsy fired three yellow spikes at the Clefairy.

"<Yaaah!>" The clefairy hadn't been expecting the oncoming pointy objects, and jumped away. He frowned. He really didn't want to be captured...but he might as well keep battling. He turned back toward the pineco, and took in a deep breath. Then he began to sing in a pleasant alto...

Bugsy wobbled back and forth before falling over asleep.
"Crud... Wake up, wake up!"
Bugsy opened his eyes and shot back up, yelled some sort of gibberish, and fell flat on his face, once again asleep.
(Based off a real-life incident involving my dad.)

The clefairy grinned, dashing forward. He raised his paw, and rocketed it down onto the bug, using Wake Up Slap. It was an easy enough strategy: sing the Pokemon to sleep, then use an attack that would cause double-damage to wake them up. Then repeat.

Bugsy was smacked back and forth several times (as per the game's animation), just enough to wake him up and let him know he was HURT.
"Bugsy, Pin Missile!"
The living pinecone complied, sending five yellow spikes from whoknowswhere on its body flying at the Clefairy.

The clefairy was knocked back by the volley of thorny spines. Well, knocked back wasn't quite the right phrase. When sharp pointy things are coming at you and you're really close to them, you try to run really far away. Most of the overly sharpened pencil-like spikes embedded in the rolled bun of the clefairy's tail not two feet from Bugsy.
<Yeowww! Oh, you're going to get it mister bomb bug!> The clefairy yelled after turning around. He opened his mouth again, but instead of insults pouring out, there came a soothing lullaby.

The lullaby put Bugsy to sleep. This gained a sigh from Lawrance. He took Bugsy's ball off his belt and a beam shot out, recalling the sleeping Pokèmon. Another ball was taken from the belt and tossed into the air. A similar beam shot out, accompanied by "Go, Rex!"
A Furrent appeared from the beam and stretched. "<Ugh... My turn?>"
"Yeah, now, Slam!"
Rex charged toward the Clefairy, spinning around when it got close to slam its tail into it.

The ferret pokemon's long body hit the pink pokemon like a ton of bricks. The clefairy staggered backward, and then fell over passed out cold. The victory celebration would have to wait, however, as an oddish came tumbling from the sky and hit Lawrence on the head. The small plant pokemon jumped up and down angrily, and began shouting curses at pigeotto in general from Lawrence's hair.
((Okay, Bugsy and Rex defeated a level 27 clefairy Bugsy gains 1 level Bugsy is now level 26 Rex gins 1 level Rex is now level 27))

Law felt that he was struck by something small, round, and annoying... He pulled whatever it was from his hair and looked at it. "Hey, an Oddish! Now there's another familiar face."
He set the Pokèmon down and crouched down to look at it from at least somewhat eye level. "So why do you hate Pidgeotto?" He thought about the question and decided, to avoid sarcastic answers, to revise it. "Why do you hate Pidgeotto, aside from the fact that they beat your species into fertilizer without breaking a sweat?"

<'Cause one moment you're mindin' your own business, underground, peacefully sleeping. The next something near pulls your hair out with a sissor-y beak, drags you into the sky and begins to carry you off to make salad. And then it drops you onto a smelly path of human weed hair!> the long suffering oddish explained. <You'd be a mite annoyed about that, too, I'll bet!>

"I see... I've never been too fond of Bird-types myself. Then again, I love Grass and Bug-types, so I guess it's only natural." Lawrance sighed and held out his hand. "Name's Lawrance. Soon-to-be Grass-and Bug-type master."
It took a minute or so, but he realized that the Oddish had nothing to shake with... So he shook its leaf. "Now then... I'm afraid I'll have to attack you, kind Oddish."

<Pah! Figures,> the oddish muttered, crossing his outer most leaves as if they were arms as he scowled at Lawrence. <Though I doubt that you'll be able to do much damage. Bring on your pokemon.>

Lawrance recalled Rex and tossed out another ball. "Come on out, Bugsy!"
In a flash, the Pineco reappeared and... Fell over, asleep. "Oh yeah... Dang... Guess I'll hope for the best." (Playing on the fact that Bug>Grass, Bug>Poison, Bug>>Grass/Poison, at least... According to the type chart on my wall.)

((Bug is not > Poison. It's actually 1/2 powered against poison types. But it is 2 times as powerful against grass types. So the end result of that attack is 1/2 x 2 = 1 and therefore it's neutral. Type Chart for reference: www.psypokes.com/lab/battlechart.phpOn the other hand, Oddys aren't incredibly good against bugs.)) The oddish would have raised an eyebrow, if he had an eyebrow to raise. Finally, however, he managed a nonchalant shrug with his leaves. <If'n that's the best ya got, that's the best ya got. Ah well, might as well start off the battle as good as I can. Gosh darn bug-grass type match.> The little plant glowed with green energy as he began a mega drain on the bug type.
