J.R. stopped a few yards from the entrance to fog path, looking behind him. At some point between meeting the strange old woman and the actual entrance to Fog Path, he'd been chased by a seemingly rabid Bidoof.
"I think I lost it," he said as he turned to go onward. "That was definitely one of the scariest moments of my life... Rabid Bidoof... Ugh..."
With a shudder, he moved onward. "So this is Fog Path... Doesn't seem too terribly foggy, though..." The second he said that, a large patch of fog passed by him. It sounded like it was laughing at him, too. "... First a rabid Bidoof, now laugh fog... This place is starting to creep me out."
(Meh, I went as it came, so yeah. It's weird and sorta random.)

The laughing fog shifted in a light breeze. It revealed a still cackling white bird, with long wings. The wingull suddenly veered to the side, and began to circle J.R.'s head. The wild pokemon had stopped laughing, however it was grinning as much as a beak could grin, as its outstretched wings clipped the J.R.'s ears with each pass. It was fun to annoy people.

J.R. took this as a challenge and tossed a Pokèball, from which came his Shellder, Frost.
Frost glanced around the area and turned back to J.R. "<Finally! I was wondering when I'd see some action...>"
"Hey, the translator chip that hit me on the head works!" he commented before entering a 'battle mode' of sorts. "Frost, hit this dang Wingull with a Tackle and get it away from my head."
Frost jumped (somehow...) at the Wingull, more aiming to beat it in one hit than get it away from J.R.'s head.

The shellder's tackle glanced off the soft body feathered body, causing the wingull to do a surprised flip in midair. She corrected herself easily enough, and swooped over the small crustacean as it landed on the ground. She laughed at it, knowing that the human couldn't understand.
<A tackle on a pokemon that's flying around in the air when you can't jump? That's almost too good! Catch this!>
On her second pas over he shellder she fired a jet of water at the fellow water type.

Frost shut her shell as quickly as she could before the attack hit. The brunt of the attack hit her shell, while a small bit of the jet hit her in the face before it shut. She slid back a little from the force of the attack.
"Frost, another Tackle!" commanded J.R. He knew very little about Shellder's attacks, but he knew that this early, all it would know would be Tackle, Withdraw, and an Egg move... He figured the damaging constant was better than a possibly nonexistent move.
Frost shut her shell, leaving it slightly cracked so she could see what she was doing. The Shellder then rolled forward and opened its shell with enough force to send it hurling toward the flying menace rather quickly.
(Yay for creative use of attacks and abilities!)

((Jes, very good.))
The sizable bulky shell hurtled toward the surprised airborne wingull and slammed into the bird. She squawked in surprise, her side and left wing stinging from the blow. Dropping under the shell, she managed to flutter away before they hit the bark of the path together. She landed on the path, and hopped back and forth before sticking out her beak to jab at Frost with her beak.

Frost shut her shell and attempted to roll away. The attack grazed her shell and caused a mark to appear. It didn't do the full force, but enough to let her know that beaks can hurt.
"Alright, Frost..." J.R. looked through his 'Pokèdex' to find her attacks. "Bubblebeam wouldn't do much... Withdraw wouldn't have much of a use now since she's still holding up fairly well..." He grinned and looked down at the Shellder. "I know you can make this one count now. Tackle!"
Frost closed her shell once more rolled toward the bird. She sprung her shell open once more and sent herself flying into the air, coming down toward the Wingull.

"Graaaak!" the wingull shrieked as the heavy crustacean came hurtling at her. The crushing blow made spots explode behind her eyes. She tried to flap limply out from under the round shell, but she couldn't make it. The wingull fainted, causing a raucous laugh to come out of the mist. Obviously J.R.'s battle had gained an audience.

J.R. tossed a Pokèball at the Wingull before turning his attention to Frost.
"Great job, Frost. Nice use of your shell, but... How'd you roll?" he asked, more than a little curious as to how a being made mainly of a shell can roll, jump, or do much movement at all.
"<Great muscle control? I didn't come up with my abilities and non-abilities, I'm just here to fight.>" responded Frost.
J.R. turned to the laughing mist. "Man I hope it's not another Wingull with an affinity for head circling..."

He was lucky. Sort of. The pokemon that burst out of the mist was not interested in circling his head. However, it was a wingull, and unfortunately a hungry one. He flew at Frost, and began to peck at the shellder, trying to get past the shell and the tasty squishy bits within.
Meanwhile the pokeball finished rocking, and pinged a capture.

(I can't believe I completely forgot to update this.)
"Frost, do your best to Tackle that thing," said J.R., who was sounding rather annoyed by this point. He was never a huge fan of Wingull, and seeing one try to eat his Pokèmon didn't make him like them any more.
Frost lauched herself into the air and pulled a flip, heading straight down Wingull-first.

The bird shrieked in pain, as it was squished beneath the heavy shell. Eight pounds was a lot of weight when you had hollow bones. Besides, crustaceans shouldn't fight back like this. They were supposed to desperately try to burrow deeper into the soil.
The wingull wriggled and flapped desperately out from under frost, and then began to peck at the shellder madly.

Frost ducked into her shell, taking less damage than she normally would, but it still hurt.
"Alright, Frost. Tackle it again," commanded J.R. "And make this one count."
Frost grinned inside her shell and launched herself as high into the air as she could. She then turned her shell so she was facing down and went into a nosedive straight toward the Wingull.
Meanwhile, J.R. was still baffled as to how Frost was jumping.

The jumping shellder was doing the trick, however. The wingull was flattened yet again by her heavy shell. However, this time he didn't get up. The crushing weight had been too much, and he fainted.
That might have been the end of it for Joshua, and he could have walked on. However, a wooper came charging up the path, intent on some mission of his own. Whatever that mission was, it carried him straight into J.R's legs. Hejumped back, startled, and began to chitter angrily at J.R.

"Wish I could understand that Wooper..." muttered J.R. as he pointed to it. "Make it shut up."
"<Good idea,>" commented Frost.
Frost slowly approached the Wooper and inhaled, blasting a stream colorful of bubbles out as she exhaled. However, these bubbles were deceptively powerful... Against something that didn't have a strength to Water-type moves...

The wooper squeaked, and jumped back as the bubbles blasted into him. They hurt so much, and the cessation of them left him slightly dizzy and feeling very battered. He shook his antennaed head, and then charged forward, twirling into a jump that left him facing away from Frost as he slapped at her shell with his tail whip.

Frost braced herself for a harsh attack, but was taken by surprised when it didn't do anything noticable. However, little did she know that it dropped her defence... A little.
"Uh... 'Kay... Bubblebeam," said Law, pointing at the Wooper again. "Seems to have more of an effect on this guy than it would on any other Water-type..."
Frost inhaled deeply and exhaled quickly, sending another stream of colored bubbles flying quickly at the Wooper.
(I actually thought Wooper was a straight Water-type, not a Water/Ground-type. ._o)

((Nope, water/ground))
The next bubble beam was at far too close a range. He was shoved backward, by the powerful stream of bubbles, and then he hit the ground with a thump. He lay there, fainted. However, a wingull, who had been watching the scene hungrily, decided that Frost's open shell was an signal that he should eat. He dove from his perch on a rock, and began to peck at the water pokemon.

J.R. tossed a Pokèball at the Wooper and sighed. Frost was now barely hanging on, after two Wingull attacks, a Wooper, and another Wingull, it was a wonder she managed to hang on until now.
"I know you're tired, Frost... But try your best in this," J.R. said, before entering his mental battle mode. "Let's show this thing what we do to hungry Wingull! Tackle!"
Frost shook the Wingull off her shell and bounced forward into a Tackle using whatever strength she could muster.

As usual she landed spot on the wingull, which shrieked angrily. Heavy shellder were diabolical weapons. It was like having radishes attack you. She flapped away from the encumbrance, and then turned to fire a water gun at the little crustacean.
Meanwhile the pokeball stopped its rocking, and pinged to signal a capture.
