There was another reason Ryki didn't often travel with other people. Besides her habit of putting herself in the way of danger, she didn't appear to be very empathatic. It wasn't a...strong suit to say the least.
So she didn't really notice that Revan was upset, and when she did she didn't know what to do, so she stayed quiet. It semed to work, and she replied with the general cheerfullness she always felt when headed towards something she hadn't seen before. And the pace wasn't /that/ much trouble. Certiantly, as long as Death could keep up, so could Ryki.
"You would, wouldn't you? But even her Vaporeon was a Vaporeon when she got it. You know, I don't really know. My family tends to go towards types that they like. Take one of my brothers for instance-He trains /only/ electric pokemon, except for a Murkrow." She frowned slightly, "Haven't heard from him in a while though...Anyways, my mom does the same thing-Plusle and Minun. Molly, she's got the water pokemon, and my dad has the fighting type, 'cept for one psychic. I guess it's just me, Zach, and Erika that don't have a set type. And I sorta do, since I've got the eevee team."

"What, do you belong to a small tribe?" Revan asked.
It sure seemed like a lot of people for one family. He couldn't imagine having that many people in his family. His seemed crowded enough with just his mother, father and his pokemon. And all of the members of Ryki's family trained pokemon? It seemed unbelieveable. He wondered if the family was anything like the Winstraites near Mauville. Now that was a crazy household.
"You're all trainers?"

Ryki grinned, "Don't worry, most of them are sane. Well...On different levels of insanity anyways. I guess we could be considered a tribe...Lemme see...I've got my twin, Tyler, then there's the other twins, Zach and Erika, then there's Molly, and then there's the babe, Rock. Then there's mother and father. And we all have pokemon, but really only four of us are trainers. I'm not really a trainer-the only one of my pokemon that actually fights is Rose, my eevee. I'm the explorer of the family-Erika and Zach, they're the ones that train pokemon and battle with them. Tyler does as well, but he's part of Team Aqua for some obscure reason. I don't know why, since he dislikes water pokemon with close to the same vengeance a fire type does. And he trains electric, so I don't know why they let him join anyways. Molly's a dancer, Mom's a teacher, and Dad is the house-parent."
Now that she thought about it, it did seem like a tribe. She grinned, as she imagined her family running around with war paint on. The sad part was they could probably scare most of Saffron-Where they lived. "I think, right now, only mom and dad and Rock are at home though. Molly's in whats-that-cities-name, north of Goldenrod, learning with the Dancer's there, Tyler's missing, Zach and Erika are off who knows where, and fighting each inch of the way."

"Your brother is with Team Aqua?!" Revan asked.
She had just said that her brother was a member of a massive terrorist organization as if it was no big deal. He could already tell she probably wasn't from Hoenn, but who in their right minds would admit to having a twin brother who went around blowing up dams to make rivers flood towns?
He breathed out, and concentrated on the 3/4 marker by the side of the road as he sped past. It made far more sense to him.

Of course, if you had grown up with the said member of the massive terrorist organization, it did seem less of a deal. Mostly though, it was just Ryki's personality, since the rest of her family didn't seem to be so open about it. Not that this Revan would know though, considering he'd only met her.
"Better than Team Rocket. M'brother's got an acquantince, but I don't think it's a good one. In fact, I think he spends most of his time trying to avoid...'erm. I'll close my mouth on the subject, nevermind." It probably wouldn't do said brother any good to go telling strangers he spent most of his time trying to avoid being turned into a girl in a rather painful method by a rather powerful Rocket member.
At least Tyler wasn't likely to have that bother him. He'd just kick said Rocket member. But Ryki wasn't going to pursue that thought, since she did actually feel slightly sympathetic towards her younger brother.
"Ah, almost there." That was good. Ryki was beginning to get tired. She'd just run after Jolts, fell on the floor of a pokecenter twice, and then ran most of the way to Pallet.

"You know what, I'm not really going to comment," Reva said.
He really wanted to make some noise about Team Aqua. He'd had to save people from their slightly off kilter plans before. But the same was true of Team Magma. They just stuck to really stupid plans like making volcanos blow up via prayer, instead of the far more deadly and practical plans that Team Aqua put in motion. The dam explosion for example. Revan had been part of a team of psychics that had to force an entire town to flee because none of the psychics had telekinesis and none of the residents wanted to leave their homes.
"Yeah. Almost," Revan agreed as Ryki's words broke in on his internal fuming. "I can see the outskirts now. Race you to the pokemart!"

Like it had been mentioned before, Ryki simply was /not/ very empathetic, and thus she didn't catch on to Revan's mood at all. She didn't approve of Tyler's involvement, but it was hard to try and talk him around when you hardly saw him. When was the last time? A year or so?
"Alright!" Another new change-Pallet had a pokemart? She supposed with the new region, it was becoming a more popular port town, and so it had probably expanded in size. Still, for the small town to have gotten a pokemart...She was beginning to wonder if the next time she payed a visit home, if Kanto would have gone and gotten /trains/ all the way across the region, where no one had to walk to a city anymore.

((They've only just gotten to Viridian, but I take your point. BTW, Lee, if I ever disappear during the week, which I will because school is evil that way, just take control of Revan and move him. Does anyone mind if I engage in the useful yet dangerously abused RPG notion of the time skip? Yell at me if you're angry and I shall delete!))
"Earth to Ryki, this is only Viridian," Revan sighed.
An hour and a half later
Revan leaned on the railing of the ferry, Death beside him, and Pest hovering about his head. That Ryki whatsherface had been really spacey, and had some sort of mental block against telepathy that Revan had never encountered before. It didn't worry him too much, as he still had known vaguely what she was thinking, but if they got into any situations ever where telepathy was the only means of communication --
He broke off the thought, shaking his head. He would never be seeing Ryki again, and if he did it would only be in passing on Kantorean. She had probably already begun to swim to the island, and his ferry was only just beginning to pull out of the dock. Hopefully that would be the last long conversation he would have with anyone, and he hadn't liked the way she had looked at the shadow stone on Death's head. He had dipped the whole thing in black paint to get rid of the distinctive red triangle, but even he had to admit it didn't look very pearl-like. Well, hopefully only a marine bioligist or a jewler would know the difference, and he wasn't planning on running into any of those.
Pest snickered. *Fate has a way of planning for you.*
"Don't jinx it!"
Revan tried to relax and enjoy the voyage.

((Hahah, about time I reply to this. I'll just be a passenger on Mori-chan's ferry...since I don't think I can make a good entrance in any other way. -_-;; )
Shana sighed happily, walking onto the deck of the ship. It was nice to take a break from her hectic life in Cerulean. She figured that in the Kantorean region, she could become popular, then use that popularity to give herself a boost back home.
The not-really-pretty teenager leaned against the rim of the boat, staring at the water. Do they have dragons in the Kantorean region? she wondered mentally, fingering her special stone. Of course, she wore gloves, so no transformation was triggered. I mean, I'm the dragon's closest human relation. It would be good to have a team of dragons. They're more popular than clefairy, anyway. Maybe a dratini would be good...they don't take as long to get into the air as bagon do.
Sighing, she brushed her frizzy hair out of her face. The sea air and wind wasn't exactly doing wonders for it...the pudgy teen hoped it would die down once they reached the port.
Noticing the young man next to her, she smiled. He looked pretty cool...and that spoink had that awesome black pearl. Maybe he could help her get popular...
"Hi," she greeted, waving a pudgy hand. "Nice spoink."
Other than that, she had no idea what to say, and just waited for him to respond.

Revan jumped, startled out of his reverie.
"Oh, hello," he said, looking at the girl.
The edge of insecurity and the so-obsessive-it-has-become-a-life-style need for popularity and acceptance in her mind put his teeth on edge. Obviously someone who needed careful handling. She lived in a world of her own, more so than most people.
*Hi!* Death "said" from the boat deck. *Thank you very much, miss,* the spionk smiled.
"Er, yeah, this is Death," Revan told Shana.

OoC: Oops. -laughs- Well...Ryki /is/ spacey, so I suppose my mistake fits her perfectly. XD
Um. Yea. -makes a short post since Ryki is, uh, flying and is all by herself-
BiC: It probably wasn't too often that a Skarmory was seen flying across the ocean, even such a thin strip of ocean as this. It probably was even less common to see a Skarmory dripping water. Or one that appeared to be having trouble keeping from dipping back into the water.
This was only because Ryki had taken off from in the water. It had been no mean feat, and she was rather proud of her ability to do so. It had been mostly accident in the first place, but she was determined to never do that again. She was still having trouble keeping from falling back into it.
This went on for a while more, until she could see the land of Kantoreon. She managed to turn in a circle and see all around her, decided no one was near enough to see her, and the Skarmory plunged into the see, spitting out a stone as it did so that was caught in the soaked glove of Ryki, before she dipped beneath the water and thoroughly soaked herself again before striking out for the land, her hand clasped tightly on the stone.

(Heh, might as well give it a try now.
Name: Rain Skylark
Age: 17
Gender: Female
Stone desired: Tempest How you obtained the stone:
Rain runs through the Viridian Forest, panting heavily as she tries to get as far away from her hometown of Viridian City as she can, she stops to rest against a tree, and sighs as she looks up at the sky.
Lance, what have you done? I know the world has a lot of troubles, but that's no excuse for attempting Genocide, she thinks, and slides against the tree, her head falling into her hands as she cries.
Her childhood friend, Lance, the dragon master of the Elite 4, was plotting to destroy the human race, she didn't want to believe it, but now it was undeniable. (This will probably not effect the plot in anyway, its not Rain's job to deal with the Elite 4.)
She suddenly hears a voice from above her.
"Child, do not weap, Lance's sins will not go unpunished," the voice says, and Rain looks up to see the firey, phoenix-like legendary bird Moltres.
"Great, first I'm betrayed, now I'm seeing things..." Rain mutters, reaching towards Ruby's pokeball at her belt.
"I am very real, child, and don't bother to use one of your dragons on me, I am not here to fight you," Moltres says.
Something in the bird's voice tells Rain that its being sincere, and she stands up fully. "Then why have you, graced me with your presence?"
"You have a good heart, child, and in this world, that is what really counts," Moltres says. "You defended Lance, even with the rumors of what he was planning, and I can tell that part of you still holds on to him. There will be others that can help him, but you have a greater task ahead of you, the world needs your help, Rain."
"What kind of help?" Rain asks, but gets no response, only something drops out of Moltres' talons, and Rain catches it with amazing reflexes. "What's thi... woah!"
She gasps as she transforms into a Rapidash, as she paws the ground with her hooves, she looks up to see that Moltres is gone.
That must've been one of those PTS stones I've heard about, this feels amazing, Rain thinks to herself, as she surveys the world in her new form.
She gallops off, feeling the wind rush along her body as she runs, and for once after a long while, she feels happy...
Description: Rain is at least 6 foot 4 inches tall, with a slim figure, and almost a mysterious auora that surrounds her. She has very pale skin, which no amount of sun can actually change for reasons unknown, and has long blue hair and blue eyes. She usualy wears a long white trench coat that has a way of flowing behind her without any wind (kind of like Kaiba's), and always wears a black tank top and blue jeans. No one has ever actually seen her skin, but some say that she's hiding something. She also has a pennant shaped like a white dragon around her neck.
Personality: Kind of unpredictable, but is usualy very kind-hearted. It can be very hard to get Rain's trust, since her incident with Lance, but once you have it, she can be your best friend. On the other hand, when in the heat of a battle, she can become relentless, and appears to be an expert strategist.
History: Rain grew up in Viridian City Kanto, her best friend (and some might say that she even fell in love with him later), while growing up would eventually become the Dragon Master of the Kanto Elite 4, Lance. At one point, in the Viridian Forest, Rain stumbled upon a young Bagon that was on the run from Team Rocket, the Bagon bonded with Rain, and they have been together ever since. After Lance revealed his plans to "save" the pokemon of the world, Rain left Kanto in order to find something or someone. At the moment, she has traveled around most of the regions.
Pokemon team:
Name: Ruby Species: Salamence Gender: Female Notes: Ruby was experimented on by Team Rocket, and created as what is called a Reverse-Pokemorph, a pokemon who has the ability to transform into a human. Description (Pokemon): Ruby isn't really your average Salamence, she is slightly bigger than the usual Salamence for one thing, but she is also a different color, her scales are pure black, while her wings are a golden color. She also has a scar running along her back, but its hard to see. Description (Human): As a human, she wears a lot of red and black, mostly a red trench coat, but she also wears a black t-shirt and skirt, she also has long blonde hair that she wears in a ponytail. Personality: Highly unpredictable, but good-natured when she wants to be.
Name: Hera Species: Blaziken Gender: Female Description: Hera is really your average Blaziken, though she puts in an effort to train as often as she can, so she might be a little stronger. Personality: Very competative, she considers Ruby to be a rival, and is always competing for Rain's attention.
Name: Rina Species: Flygon Gender: Female Description: Really just your average Flygon, maybe a scar here and there. Personality: Kind and friendly, but unsure of her place in the team.
Name: Mystic Species: Milotic Gender: Female (seeing a pattern here?) Description: A little sleaker and more beautiful than your average Milotic, presumably because of the effort Rain put into training her. Personality: Mystic is sort of the peacekeeper of the group, if things get out of hand between Ruby and Hera, she usualy calms them down.
Name: Queenie Species: Kingdra Gender: Female Description: A much darker colored Kingdra. Personality: Usualy easy to get along with, but is a strong femminist, and is known to attack anyone who insults her gender.
Name: Serena Species: Dragonite Gender: Female Description: Smaller than the average Dragonite. Personality: Rather timid.
Interests: Dragons mostly, but she also is interested in fortune telling, mythology, and science fiction.
Skills: Varrying skills, but mostly she can hold her own in most styles of combat. She has quite a bit of skill with a sword. Interestingly enough, she has always had the ability to understand pokemon.
Additional info: (Same as with Skills, optional but if you put anything don’t just say, “Likes to sleep” and leave it at that)

Shana smiled at Revan. He seemd pretty cool...and that Spoink...that black pearl had to be In.
Maybe I should try to be friends...I know! I'll send out Momo! Shana thought excitedly. If she had an older guy as her friend, she could probably use him to make some of the popular people like her. Flipping her dull brown hair over her shoulder, she grabbed her single Pokeball.
"Do you want to meet Momo, my clefairy?" She asked, putting slight emphasis on "Momo" and "clefairy." After all, Japanese was beyond In these days, and rarity was perpetually cool.
Without waiting for an answer, the metal sphere rolled out of her sweaty, large hand and clacked against the metal deck. It popped open, and Shana scooped the thing up as a Pokemon materialized next to her.
"Clee?" She asked, her tiny eyes swiveling over to Death. Waving her little pink paw, she greeted him in her language.
Shana looked proudly down at her Pokemon. Momo, however, was half-wondering if she could sneak away with this guy and his spoink. Anybody would be better than the fat girl with the popularity obsession (and the strange idea that she was a dragon master).
Plus, she thought dragons were overrated. And ever since she met Shana, who had this strange stone that could turn her into a bug-eyed beast of myth, she knew her so-called trainer would want a whole team of dragons.
Stupid things, the clefairy thought to herself while pointedly not making eye contact wit Shana.

*Dragons are funny!* Death exclaimed, picking up on Momo's thoughts. *I don't understand how they manage to fly, as they're all so tubby in comparison to their wings. Also, why do they mostly think about how much better they are than everyone? I mean, they say it's 'cause they're rare and all, but if they're rare that must mean that they're not very good at surviving.*
Meanwhile Revan was wondering if he might fair better by jumping over the side of the railing. He really didn't like the possessive turn of this girl's thoughts. He didn't really want to hurt her feelings by mentioning that Momo sounded like a clown's name. It might make her breakdown crying, or she might get highly offended, and create a new layer to her mental fantasy by saying that he was just jealous. Or she might do both.
He suddenly wished that he was dealing with Ryki again. Hopefully this girl wasn't as observant about pearls as Ryki had been. On the other hand Ryki was at least sane -- well, moreso than this girl.
"So, you're a normal trainer, huh?" Revan said. "They're great pokemon, I think. Their special defense stats at least make me a little jealous. And since their only weakness is fighting types you don't have to worry about type match ups so much. I usually hate going against normal trainers. They tend to wipe the floor with my psychics."
Before he babbled on too much longer, Revan stared out across the blue green waves. He could see the sandy beachs of Kantorean and followed them up the slpoe of the island to the dark green trees. He was pretty certain that he could see a mountain in the distance, but his eyes were blinded by the reflection of light off the sky scrapers that loomed up from the forest, so he couldn't be sure. One growth of the city broke away from the trees, and marched down to a cover where the white little dots of boats could be seen.
The PA crackled and a computerized female voice said that it was only five minutes until they pulled into Kantorean's Port City, Larousse.
"Oh thank Mew," Revan muttered, planning to hightail it to the nearest pokemon center in order to get away from the girl.
He then looked at Shana. Everything from the hair to the tight shirts showed that she was probably used to being ditched. He winced, as Pest floated up by his head and whispered in his mind. *You should stop feeding your conscience, it's growing on you.*
*Consciences are good!* Death sent happily from the wooden deck.
"So, why are you going to Kantorean?" Revan inquired, batting aside the psychic whispers of his pokemon.

Shana paused. "Uh, I'm going to Kantorean because I'm on vacation, and, uh, I thought it might be a cool place to see. With the high-tech port city, and all. We learned about it last trimester in school, and I thought it might be, uh, fun to see it."
She hadn't exactly thought of a good reason why she wanted to come. Popularity was one thing, but she knew there was something else. A calling from the stone, maybe? Yes, it had to be something related to the stone. Maybe there were dragons in Kantorean...maybe they wanted to come with her.
If I had a dragon team...I know we'd be best friends, the chubby teen thought to herself, resting her head on the railing. Even if I couldn't be popular, at least I'd have some dragon friends. They'd be bound to help me out somehow. Plus, I know Rayquaza. I'm popular with dragons, so that's cool.
But then she remembered something else Revan said.
"Oh, and I'm not really a normal trainer!" She contradicted hurriedly, waving her hands. "I just only have Momo, that's all. I really want to train...er..." She paused, looking down at the bulging pocket of her tight stonewashed boot-cut jeans. Inside was the stone that turned her into a Flygon.
Maybe I shouldn't tell him about the dragons, it might make him jealous or worse. The need nodded mentally. I can tell people about my way with dragons after I have caught a few.
"I kind of want to see some other types, you know, to have a...varied team?" Shana explained, though not at all confidently.
Momo just rolled her eyes.

Ryki felt sand beneath her feet on a downward kick, and spashed for a moment before gaining purchase and wading the rest of the way to the dry(er) sand. She was wearing the same outfit, no swimsuit. It probably didn't matter anyways, since she was carrying her backpack, which was also thouroughly soaked. At least everything in it was waterproof. Or it didn't matter if it got wet, except for making her clothes smell funny until she washed them.
She wringed out her hair, dropping the stone into her pocket and trying to come up with a way to attach it to her, firmly, so she didn't have to hold it in her beak whenever she was a Skarmory. What if she screamed accidentally? Bye-bye birdie, hellow human. Which would be bad if she was oh...in the air?
When she'd managed to get as much of her dry as she could, she set off for the pokemon center, ignoring the stares of the few people who stared at her dripping form. She had, after all, done the whole swimming thing before. And while in itself that wasn't uncommon, seeing someone do so in clothing obviously not meant for swimming in, with a full backpack, had to be somewhat unusual.
