Alright, so this is an idea I've had for awhile...and I guess Miteinjan might be one in the making. Basically, I'm bored with the idea of one region on this site. Even two regions is boring to me, even though Tejan is still very much non-existant. So I want more regions. But these ones will be smaller and single-board, hence the term "mini-region". The nice thing about this is, if they're all single-board based, we can have a whole bunch of them. Also, I can make somebody a mod of the board itself, so anybody can have their own region with mod powers. You can even have a hidden one that people have to find, or one with a password so only certain people can get inside (keep in mind, though, that I will be the one who most likely puts these up, so I'll know all your passwords just in case you forget). We already have Miteinjan, but we can have more. Preferably, I'd like your ideas to have 5 cities/whatever term you use or fewer, just to keep the subboards manageable. Also, I'd like ideas to be a bit different, or something...not just "here's a region, it's the same as every other fan-region in the world except for names". Oh, and also...if you're an affiliate with an IMPRESSIVE site that is going through some tough times, you may put up a mini-region version of your region (you may want to abridge it to keep it small) here. Salho and First Generation Relived - I'm opening this up to you two as well. Also, these mini-regions can have plots! So think about that when you give an idea, too... We can also have a mini-region designing contest, where the winner/s get their mini-region put up with them as head admin for the mini-region. Here are some quick ideas for mini-regions: - Colosseum-liked region (maybe even another desert) with snatching. And a plot, if we want, cuz stealing Pokemon from others screams plot. But I dunno.
- Ranger-like region with capture stylers. Maybe a plot, too. Beyond that, though...
- Island chains, because every site needs an island chain as the "second region". I was thinking "cloud islands" with them in the sky, but beyond that, I dunno.
- Region made up of cities without routes - you just pick a city (you may start anywhere), do stuff there, then teleport (or take a train or something) to another one. I got this idea by thinking up a poison city underground...so ya. Not much of an idea!
- A "virtual" region where all Pokemon are fan-made...maybe even a "design your own Pokemon, then use it" place. Dunno what else.
- An excavation region where there are fossil Pokemon. Because staring at a picture of four of them made me realize how cute they were, and how much I luffle all of them.
- Like I said before, either abridged or full versions of other sites that have gone inactive or are having tough times.
So yar. I wanna hear some ideas, if you have any...

Hmm, I kinda like the Excavation idea, and the island chains one is cool too, I'd be willing to help on the islands one.
Though I'm not sure about the Colosseum one, unless its stealing pokemon from evil people only (and not evil pokemon stealing from us), I have to question your ethics. And its called snagging.
Don't know anything about ranger, so I can't comment there.
The virtual region is a cool idea too, I might agree to that.
Beyond that, I can't really think of anything to add.

The Colosseum one would probably depend on if there was a plot. I'm guessing there would have to be a plot...so I guess the degree of ethics would depend on the situation and the region.
Keep in mind that ethics only hold for as long as the situation isn't desperate. Personally, from what little experience I have playing Colosseum, I didn't see all the people you stole from as "evil". I never perceived the hero as being particularly perfectly moral...he was stealing Pokemon, after all. Also, I perceived Orre as being a bit poor overall - especially in certain areas. This region would probably be worse than Miteinjan.
As for ethics, if this sort of plotline makes my ethics brought into question, you should probably check out all the popular fiction-writers as well. Man, that JK Rowling - killing off all those innocent characters...not to mention some of the things her good characters dabble in.

You have a point there, I mean the main carachter isn't always exactly what you'd call a hero.
I mean, look at George Orwell's 1984, Winston wasn't exactly that heroic of a main carachter, more of an Anti-hero really, but that's just my opinion.

Uh-huh. *will read that book once APUSH is over*
Do you have any ideas of mini-regions you'd like to see, Ruin?

*butts in out of nowhere*
I love the Colluseum and Ranger ideas. Underground poison city idea is oddly appealing.
I've got a few ideas, whether they are good, though...?: Poke-Morph Region: Not the biggest fan of such things, but could be fun. Really make for a deeper trainer-pokemon connection, too, fighting alongside each other. Maybe, people don't get to choose what they can morph into either. Admins/mods assign it once they're accepted, based on personality and such things.
Mystery Dungeon-esque Region: Never played the game, but could be fun.
Type Specific Regions: Maybe have regions based around only a few different Pokemon types? Then, there could be cross-regional battles, like rivals duking it out. School rivalries, kinda.
Human, I Choose You! Region: Hehe. Couldn't resist. A region where Pokemon are the trainers, and humans are the ones with the cool moves. Could be very...interesting.
Just some thoughts.

I like the Poke-Morph Region...
and Mystery Dungeon, as I have played that game a few times.

Umm, Outer Island *is* our Mystery Dungeon-esque thing. Not certain if we're currently allowed to RP there, with mainland Jenta on Hiatus, but Outer Island is where you have to play as your character's pokemon (i.e. the one you aren't training in one of the routes). No trainers allowed, just pokemon, training, gathering items, good stuff like that.

I personally think a combination of the excavatioin and region made up of cities without routes would be a good idea. OH and whoever said that region for different type ideas that's also a good one....So yeah I think if you combine those three different ideas, there could be a very peaceful/battle-like region...

I see what you mean, MF. I meant for it to be like Mystery Dungeon, with that 'team system' (is that right?), and cities, gyms, shops, etc., run all by pokemon.
Also..*likes Jason's idea for mixing the three*

Well, there are no shops and stuff. Outer Island used to be inhabited by regular Jentans, and then they left the island for some reason, and thusly it's now a natural habitat for wild pokemon. There are items and TMs that were left by the human inhabitants, and the pokemon on the island love to challenge people to contests and stuff. It's a "special" place with lots of missions and areas to be revealed. Only no one has figured out how to open the door to get out of the Smashed Lab yet ^^;

Personally, I've bored myself with Colosseum like regions. XD It could be fun, but it's probably not a mini-region I would appear in. Unless I could get away with playing some of my evil characters there. Oh, I just got a pwnsome idea. What if some people had "evil" characters, and that was how one obtained new pokemon? You have to snatch them right? I'd be willing to do that. ^^ Just let me choose one or two pokemon that are unsnatchable, and I'd use whatever system Nyaa does for determining what pokemon someone gets when she uses the number thing to determine the available snatchable pokemon. It would be a either the same level or a couple below the weakest, on the snatcher's team, so that it would be fair...I wouldn't mind doing that at all. I've only played a couple of tiny bits on my friend's ranger game, so I don't know about it. She just wanted me to help her with a pokemon that was in the water (dun remember what it was) and the charizard. Maybe the island chain could start off on an island with a mountain, and then advance to clouds? I dunno...Or maybe even start off underwater with the island being in the middle? The no-route idea would be interesting. Again, I'm not sure I would play there-I have more fun in the routes-But neh. I could be wrong. I've just never had much to do in cities. I love the virtual region idea, although one would have to make sure that their pokemon weren't indestructible. XD It'd give me a place to put up pokemon I make up. Or rather, creatures I draw in boredom and magically transform into pokemon. I like the excavation region. Maybe there could even be another one (since I'm not sure everyone would enjoy this) of playing it way back in time. I mean, not even as far as Salho, where pokeballs and the such aren't even thought of. I believe I said enough about FGR on another post...somewhere. XD And believe it or not, I have a few ideas of my own. I'm in love with The Golden Compass (though I forget the author's name...oops...Umm...Darnit, I knew it an hour ago!) Anyways, maybe there could be a region something like that. Maybe a pokemon, just a single one, is bound to someone from birth? Like a daemon in the books. And it evolved as the person matured if it had more than two evolutions, or when a person came of age if it had only two? Someone brought up Mystery Dungeon...That would be fun. Maybe the teams could be comprised of three people each playing one pokemon. It would be a fun way to roleplay with other members, instead of just the mod. (No offense! You guys are great! XD) Which brings up the idea that maybe there could be a region where you traveled with another person? I dunno...That was just an inkling of an idea.

Well, we now have an "Off Stage" region set up in the "Random Roleplay" board where our characters can all congregate and chat it up. It's called Wandering Jenta, and William and Carra would like more people to join -- especially people who know how to make agressive, evil-minded bagon shut up. ^^
And the Golden Compass was written by Phillip Pullman, and Nyaa, it's a squee book if you hadn't read it. Just -- the final book in the trilogy, The Amber Spyglass, is bleh and "I'm too pretentiously religious for jo0."

I actually thought about this once or twice before, when I saw the trailer for The Shiny Yellow Navigation Item of Much Importance, though I know next to zilch about the storyline. It sounds cool, though. Maybe the human could, over time, gain certain characteristics of the Pokemon? Like, maybe, if you're Pokemon mainly used Flamethrower, the human could begin to start small fires. Or something. 83 I love this idea, by the way. It's pretty cooooool. I'ma gonna use this one!
And all books I may or may not be beaten up for if I don't read are put on hold until I actually get a summer vacation. I may have one next year. *grumble grumble*
Outer Island IS Mystery Dungeon in Jenta terms. Pester Mori-chan if you want it more developed - I gots nothin' ter do with it.
I like the idea of having one or two un-stealable Pokemon in the Colosseum region. Other than that, though, I think it's kinda free-for-all...though, remember, you can always go on a vengeful rampage and track down the person who stole your darling shiny salamence, or something.
New idea - a small region confined to a single megacity. Like New York City. All the stuff you need is in the city...and the city is big. It'll be easier to think of the city as a place to do things other than fight for badges, I would bet, if each area is it's own subboard.
Single-type or double-type or triple-type regions could be doable...but, say, a dragon-only region might be difficult, as there are only 13 true dragons that aren't legendary. Same goes for a few other types - the region would just be too small. However, we could have a water, flying, or normal-type region, cuz there are, like, a billion of those.
I'll reply to more o' these later...-_-

I'll make Rii or Zach appear over in there then.
Mwahaha! Meh idea is being used! I'm happy. My purpose in life is fulfilled.
Neh, I really only liked The Golden Compass. The other two books I read mostly as a matter of course. There were some good points in them, but the first one was the best. That would be cool too...Gaining characteristics I mean.
Although you'd have to decide if the distance thing mattered. In the book (and the movie, too, or the movie doesn't follow the book very well) you can't go very far away from your daemon. It physically hurts to be pulled away, although there are a small amount of people (witches) with bird daemon's that are able to separate themselves by long distances. That might be something to consider.

Because I am lazy and am all for other people modding, I had an idea:
How about a region where every subboard is run by a different person? I guess the idea I had where it was a region of all "cities", where each "city" would have a different theme or type. Maybe people could submit ideas for cities, with the hope of them getting put up and added to the region.
Oh, and the region would be a "start anywhere, go anywhere" type of region. And you wouldn't have to walk endlessly through Route X to get from One City to Two Town. You'd just finish up your thread in One City, then make a new thread in Two Town. Maybe you could say you took a bus or train or something...
So, how does it sound?

I'll probably set it up with some sort of "city" submission thread on the main board, as well as character profiles. I got a recent idea from a Pokemon sprite generator I discovered (which sometimes works nicely instead of the regular number generator), where there could be set teams you pick up when you make a trainer - so you already have them when you make your first thread in the region. Either one Pokemon, two Pokemon, or three Pokemon to start with...how does that sound? Or maybe I could have a few set teams of all three numbers...and you choose one to put in your application...
For example, here, as a "test drive" to see what sort of teams are possible, I will list the first three results I got for each number when I used the sprite generator:
Shroomish
Chingling
Ursaring
Wynaut Mismagius
Shuppet Empoleon
Feebas Clamperl
Caterpie Bronzong Marshtomp
Houndoom Nidorino Kecleon
Blissey Flygon Lunatone
The only restrictions I would put on the teams I'd generate would be legendaries. If a legendary pops up, the team is deemed null and void.

Hmmm...That sounds good. Care to explain how they'd travel from city to city without routes?

Post by Nyaa-Neko on Aug 4, 2007 18:24:17 GMT -5
Roads, subways, teleportation. It doesn't matter. However, they aren't standard Pokemon routes, so there are no Pokemon to catch. It might just be open space, a la Orre. Basically, however you travel is up to you within the realm of Mokenpo Territory travel, and it doesn't get recorded in the RP. So nobody really should care too much. Edit: I actually finished a map! Here's an idea for a region based off of *cringe* the four standard unscientific elements: It is called Tsuhikami, as you can see. And the town names are up there. Basically, there would be a ground-type gym, then a fire-type gym, then a flying-type gym, then a water-type gym, then the champion with one of each. Yar. Maybe we can make some fanmades for this?
