The smell of the sweet scent hadn't left her mind yet, but a feeling of her energy being drained from her sat in juxtaposition with it. "<Stop it,>" she said with a weary voice smiliar to someone waking up. She swipe the leaves off her head before proceeding to use a sand attack on the sweet smelling plant.

The oddish coughed and spluttered as it backed up. Ellen had kicked sand into his face, making him nearly incapable of breathing. However, he still had a sister to rescue. He dashed forward, glowing green as he attempted to use absorb a second time.

Ellen blinked at the rushing oddish before moving quickly out of it's way. "<What did I just do?>" she asked neviously as she watched the oddish past her by with a slight headache.
"<Nothing much, but for starters, you kick sand in his face,>" Randolph said in a calm voice. "<I think you just woke up from his sweet scent he used.>"
"<I do remember a nice smell before waking up...>" She rolled her eyes to the sky as she sat down, then blinked them back on the oddish. She emitted a loud growl at it, more to warn him from crashing into a tree than to lower his attack power.

The oddish did both: he crashed into the tree, and his attack power decided to lower itself. Standing up woozily, he glared at the eevee - or, rather, the five of them. How did there get to be so many? And they were all swirling around...
"<No...fair...five against...one!>" He growled, and jolted forward, preparing another Absorb.
Too bad he ended up using it on the plant next to Ellen.

"<...well, we could catch him also,>" Randolph said with thoughtfulness in this voice. He was watching the plant through Ellen's eyes, who just inch back a bit while giving of a "Meep!" of startlement.
"We could do that, but then we would have to stay on this route longer to train both of them," he stated, annoyed at how long this might take. He may not like the concept of people conforming to time-based lives, but he would rather hurry to get his first badge so he could start training Pokemon that can defeat dragon types for the next gym.
"<True, but I don't think the gym Pokemon would do them much harm since grass-poison types are somewhat stronger than straight grass types,>" The psychic pointed out. "<Plus, he wouldn't be at a such a loss of what to do if he was with us.>"
"He got guts for a small weed," David stated with small smirk. "Ellen, let's end this before he really hurt himself."
She nodded her head slowly with her eyes still locked on the plant. She turned around and sprinted back some, almost like she was counting her steps. When she reach the fourth step, she faced the oddish again and sprinted even faster at the pokemon, hoping to crash into him.

Stars exploded in the oddish's vision as Ellen cannoned into him. His light body tumbled backwards and he hit the ground with a planty thud. The sky wheeled over head, trees spinning around and around in his vision, before that finally went black.
David's pokedex beeped, informing him that Ellen had just defeated a level 27 oddish, and had grown to level 27 herself.

"<Wow... maybe I should of done two steps...>" Ellen whispered to herself, looking down upon the poor grass type. She shifted her weight around as an uneasy feeling gurgled inside her stomach. She averted her eyes to her trainer who was currently fishing in his back pack and the Ralts holding it up via confusion. "<Do you think I over did that? I didn't want to hurt him that much.>"
After David found one of his empty pokeball, he enlarged it and put his pack back on. "Not sure. I'll have the Poke Center check that out later." He toss the sphere at the plant, hoping he didn't miss his and hit Ellen who swiftly got out of the way.

The red and white capsule hit the oddish, swallowing it instantly. However, the metal sphere rocked violently, almost unable to process the high leveled oddish into electronic data. It rocked, and rocked, and finally binged.
David's pokedex beeped again.
[You have caught an oddish... Stats processing...
Oddish Level: 27 Gender: Male Attacks: Absorb, Sweet Scent, Mega Drain, Lucky Chant Special Ability: Chlorophyll - If Sunny Day is in effect speed is doubled Personality: He is rather agressive, and tries to protect his sister at all costs, even though his planty little body isn't all that great at kick butt fighting. If you can win his trust he is extremely loyal.]

David picked up the smooth device and placed on his belt with the rest of them. "Our third group 2 pokemon..." He sat down, taking off his pack.
He took out a small bowl he picked up from the lab before leaving and poured a bottle of fresh water into. He gave it to the eevee that haul back from it before deciding it wasn't going to attack her in some way like the other things in this forest. As she drank the water that gave her back most of her strength, David asked, "Would you mind cooking something, Randolph?"
The Ralts gleamed at the idea and started to look for a good place to get to work. He took the pack from his trainer and started to dig through it for the supplies. After finding what he need it, it was only a time that matter.
About ten minutes later, the shiny Pokemon was finish with his food. It consisted of spice up canned soup, simple sandwiches and oran berries he found nearby. "<Done,>" he proclaimed proudly. If there was one thing he was excellent at, it was cooking. Thankfully, his moves allowed him to cook anywhere.
(( I think I'm finally getting use to how Randolph acts. ^^ ))

((Heh. ^^))
However, the smells of cooking food wafted over the camp and into the woods. By the time Randolph was done there were ten hungry eyes looking on from various vantage points. One of the owners of these eyes could take it no longer as Randolph started to hand out the food.
A cubone burst into the clearing, his club over his shoulders. <All right, gimme the food, and no one gets hurt. Don't give it to me, and we'll have to battle it out, understand?>

The cubone had startled Ellen with its sudden appearance, but didn't seem to phase David nor Randolph. They listened to his demands with a tension building up in side each of them. When he was done talking, David rose up from where he setting with a little smirk on his face while his two teammates just stared at the cubone, the eevee more than the ralts.
"I understand, but I just can't give away a well cook meal," he said with amusement, motioning his hand towards the food which was still giving off smells that even the pickiest of eaters couldn't turned their nose away from. "Guess we'll have to battle over it then, right Ellen?"
"<Of course,>" she said with a hesitate voice. The cubones at the lab weren't any different than this one. All of them were selfish, rude... strong, tough... scary. "<Is this going to happen every time you cook?>" she whined to the ralts.
He thought a moment with his hand to his mouth. "<Probably. Most living things like my cooking.>"
"<Great,>" she said before hearing her trainer asking her to quick attack the hungry brute. With a quick sigh, she quickly dodged all of their belongings before shooting towards the ground type with the club.

The cubone stood his ground as the worried eevee rushed at him. She slammed into him head on, her shoulder jabbing into his sternum. He had to step back from -- slightly astonished -- the force of the blow.
However, the ground type recovered quickly, splaying his legs, and stretching out his arms for balance as he slighted along them. A second later he flung the femuric club at Ellen in a Bonemerang attack.

About Three things happened in a moment a time. First, after a successful hit on her target, Ellen quickly started back toward her side of the imaginary battlefield. Next, about two step away from where she was at that moment, a white spinning object bypass her, flying into off the cliff and into the sky. Finally, Ellen stopped her tactical retreat to look behind her, back at the cubone.
Unfortunately, her current state of stillness caused her to get whacked by the white object as it came back to if owner. She realized what hit her as Randolph told her telepathically about the attack the loner pokemon just used about the same time her face kissed the dirt and her trainer face palmed.
<That was a rude and uncaring thing to do to me!,> Ellen said with her fur puffed up. <I could have broken a tooth, or been knocked unconscious into a coma!>
<And she didn't really care about being drained by an oddish...> Randolph mumbled to David and himself. <If I were you, I would have healed the oddish prier to this and use them against the cubone.>
"That would have been the easy thing to do, but Ellen does need to gain experience and confidence in battling." He gave a slight smile to Randolph before releasing the sister oddish from her pokeball. "Ellen, mine keeping the cubone busy?"
No true reply came back to him, but the eevee's fur just puffed up more as she started yelling about all the other stuff that could have happen to her at the cubone. "Guess that's a yes," he said before turning toward the oddish with a water bottle in his hand, part of the lunch that Randolph shielded with his powers so no stray attack damaged his food. "I need you to drink this and get ready for another battle, ...um."
"Samantha. And do you know that your eevee has a slight issue with everything?"

The militant and territorial cubone was a bit taken aback. So would anyone being chastised by what was basically a ball of fur and warm blood, he reasoned. Reptiles often weren't tolerant of mammals. However, reality re-asserted itself after a few moments of harangue, and the cubone tossed his bone up in the air, before catching it and pointing it directly at Ellen.
<Shut up. I wouldn't be attacking you if I didn't want to hurt you. For my hooooome!> he yelled, tossing the bone club directly at Ellen in a second bonemerang attack.

The eevee bit her tongue, being rudely interrupted. But before she got another word in about his rudeness, the cubone's club struck her head on, or on head. Either way, she was now in a slight dazed. As her balance started to give way, the only sound she could utter was the word "Oww." With that, she promptly flopped on the ground, rubbing her head with her front paws.
<Somehow, I figure that would happen, > Sam stated. A breeze rustled her leaves. The sound relaxed David some, but he wasn't sure why it did. <Seems like the wind is on my side today... What now? >
"We get Ellen out of there." David shot the return beam at the eevee, drawing her back into the ball's makeshift environment. He placed the ball back on his pocket before give the weed Pokémon the go ahead. "Now, it your turn. Let him attack first. I'm not sure if he'll try his bonemerang attack again. If he does, at least you'll get a small window to catch him without his weapon."
<Right, > she said before striding into the battleground. <Your move, skull lizard. >

The bonemerang came spinning back around, and the cubone caught it with a flick of his wrist. He glared at the little plant, tossing his club up and down. He deserved some soup, darnit! And these people were invading his territory. He had to oust the the invaders, now! He focused on this fact with all his might, thinking about how much energy he'd need to win, and how to balance that through-out all of his body.

<The bonehead's not moving... > the oddish said, a little bored about her situation. <Plus it looks like it trying to have an epiphany. >
"I can see that..." He didn't count on the cubone knowing focus energy, but now wasn't the time to think about mistakes. He checked the leaves on Sam's head to see the wind direction, which was still in his favor.
<Should I do anything? > Staring at her focusing foe, She yawned.
"Fight without fighting. Use sleep powder on it before it can do any real damage to you." This seemed to be the order she waited for because she quickly waved her leaves side to side, releasing a cloud of green dust. The cloud drifted over to the area where the cubone was...

The powders settled around the cubone as he continued to concentrate on his inner being and his goals. He would need to smash the oddish, hitting it with all the power in his club, and that energy would run from his feet to his abdomen and push out through the arm into the little femur club as an extension of his body. And it would be good...
A snore came from under the bone skull as the reptile sunk from the concentrated, balanced fighting position into a sleepy heap. This little critter wasn't going anywhere, except to the land of Nod where he could dream about fighting clubs.

The oddish was silent as the ruffian plopped onto the ground. She had seen too many Pokémon fell asleep from her sleeping powder to care how he just accepted it like candy. <He should have stopped having an epiphany to react to the battle. If he was upwind from me, that wouldn't have happen. >
"I agree, but his error was our advantage." He could be useful if well trained, but as far as I know, he wouldn't be effective for my battle in Florak. What happened in this battle would probably happen in the gym...
"If all goes as planned, a few absorbs should work." Taking that as her cue, the oddish preceded to stride up to the sleeping ground type. She then proceeded to try and drain the cubone of its free energy by using absorb. This battle was all too easy for her.

((Um, yeah, the cubone isn't going to wake up, plus ground and planty are not good combos so...))
The cubone twitched and wriggled uncomfortably in his slumber as Sam used her absorb attack. Clearly the cubone was in pain, however this merely caused him to roll over every once in a while, as Sam reinitiated her health healing attack. Finally, the cubone stopped twitching, and merely lay on the ground, completely conked out.
David's pokedex blipped.
