"Marrill, Wa-" started Law, before being cut off by the sound of Marril firing another Water Gun at the Venonat.
"<DON'T INSULT WATER-TYPES!>" yelled Marril.

The torrent of water threw the venonat backwards, where he lay both soaked through and, more importantly, unconscious.
"<Did you win? I can't see,>" Yanma started before a beep resonated through the mist. "<Oh, wait, nevermind.>"
The screen read that Lawrence's Marril had defeated a level 16 venonat, and thusly grew three levels, bringing her up to level 15.

He recalled his Marril and continued along his path again.
"I wonder when Marril evolves into Azumarril..." he said.

((Did you apply that level from Question of the Day? I forgot to check! @_@ If you haven't you should...))
"<I think it was level 18, though I might be wrong,>" mused Yanma as he buzzed along, his wings dispersing a small amount of the thick mist. "<Hey...I think we're nearing the lake. I think there are more and more water-types around than bug or grass-types.>"
Almost immediately, a krabby scuttled onto the path, and snapped his claws threateningly.
"<Yeah...water-types.>"

(I done did.)
"Yargh... Water-types... Marril, go!" he shouted, tossing a Pokèball.
The blue mouse appeared in a flash again.
"Marril, Rollout!" he shouted.
Marril ran at the crab and rolled toward it at top speed.

The krabby was knocked back, but since the Rollout was in the early-and-weak stages, it didn't do much. So the krabby retaliated with a Bubble, which wasn't the smartest of ideas.
Apparently, the type chart was not widely known among the crustacean population of Route Two.

Marrill was smacked with the bubbles and knocked back a little bit. It rolled in for a second Rollout.

"<Oof!>"
The crustacean pulled his body up to a wobbly standing position. The weak attack had just gotten a lot more painful...
He scuttled over to Marril, snapping his claws. He did a sideways lunge at the rodent's head, aiming for a Vicegrip.

Marril started her next Rollout just in time to narrowly avoid getting hit head on with a Vicegrip, but the claws still scratched her, causing her a little damage.

The krabby was hit head-on (unlike his adversary), and was promptly thrown onto the path. He hit his head, and soon fell unconscious.
Lawrence's Pokedex beeped, and it displayed a screen that read: "Marril (level 16) defeated Krabby (level 16). Marril gains 1 level (to level 17)."

Lawrance tossed a ball at the Krabby and recalled Marril.

((Oh, so NOW you catch the krabby! X3 ))
The ball hit the crab, rocked a few times, and was silent.
"<So this krabby was better than the last one?>" Yanma mused as he buzzed above Lawrence's head.
Meanwhile, Law's Pokedex had come up with the stats of his new addition, just after the Pokeball itself zipped out of Route 2-existence, and into the PC system. They were:
Krabby Gender: Male Level: 16 Group: 1 Nickname: whatever you want Ability: Hyper Cutter: attack power cannot be lowered Attacks: Bubble, Leer, Vicegrip, Harden Personality: A no-nonsense type of krabby who barely speaks if he can help it. In fact, so much so that it may be possible he has some sort of personality disorder keeping him from speaking...he also doesn't like to get close to people...except for his Marril teammate. For some reason, he is always nice to her, albeit clumsy and often embarrassed, often doing her small favors. He's cold to everybody else, though, but he's a serious battler.

"Nah, I was just curious as to what the attacks of the Krabby around here were..." he said as he walked along the path.

((w007, all your Pokemon are level 17 and above. That means...you get...to go on the lake now! Yay! Somebody is close to getting their SECOND badge! )) Yanma narrowed his bug eyes, and zoomed forward into the mist. He let out a happy shout. "<The lake!>" He cried. "<You've reached the lake!>" Indeed, Lawrence had most of the marsh behind him. The mist hung over not mud, but murky water ahead. The lake swished back and forth as the Pokemon underneath swam near the surface, and the splashes continued into the distance, showing that the lake was larger than the mist would allow Lawrence to see. Yanma paused, and flew out above the water a bit, hugging the clear air in between the water and the thick fog. "<Let's see...there should be somebody here who can get you across...after the lake, there's only a little bit of path that takes you to Iikagen City, so once you get across this, you're basically there.>" Suddenly, the water below the dragonfly started churning, and Yanma gave a yelp before zooming upwards. Suddenly, a large serpent shot out of the water, and turned her large head towards Lawrence. "<Hunh,>" she muttered through her gaping jaw. "<A trainer? Well, it doesn't look like you have any Pokemon who can take you across the lake...>" Yanma, meanwhile, zipped around to behind Law, muttering about carniverous serpents. The gyarados paused, and lowered herself into the shallow waters near the shore. "<Well, trainer, I'll make you a deal. If I promise to ferry you across to the other side of the lake without letting you slip off and drown, will you promise not to even attempt to capture me?>" The bug, meanwhile, muttered "<take the deal, take the deal, take the deal>" over and over in Lawrence's ear. He didn't want to see the large (bug-eating, most likely) Pokemon turn aggressive.

"Deal. I much prefer to raise Pokèmon from their first state, anyway." he said. "It builds a better Trainer-Pokèmon relationship."

"<Good. Hop on, then.>"
After Law was securely on the back of the gyarados, the yanma turned away. He wasn't very good at over-water flight, and he'd been attacked more than once. He decided that he would, in fact, decide later if he wanted to go with Lawrence or not. Oh, thank Mew for procrastination.
Meanwhile, a slowpoke lazily swam up to the gyarados. Before the serpent could protest, she slammed into her side, looking a little dazed.
She treaded water there for a minute or two (or maybe she didn't...she could have been using her psychic powers to simply just "hover" in the water), blankly staring at the gyarados and her cargo. Then, she finally realized what she was looking at.
"<Ohhhh...hey, you're a trainer!>" She exclaimed in a slow and soft voice (if it was even possible to have a slow and soft exclamation).

"That I am..." said Law. "And you're a Slowpoke..."
"<A very slow Slowpoke, at that...>" commented Bouncy. "<Slow even for a SLOW Slowpoke... But, nice to see that at least three Pokèmon aren't going to try and kill us with a Flying Death Tackle or something similar... I'm Bouncy!>" The puffball held out a small, pointed hand. It took her a while, but she eventually realized that: 1: She can't swim and would therefore never be able to reach the Slowpoke 2: Even if she could swim, Slowpoke can't shake hands...

The slowpoke simply stayed put, staring at Bouncy. After awhile, a grin spread across her face. "<Hi, Bouncy! I don't know what sorta Pokemon y'are, but I'm...I'm...I'm...>" She paused, then frowned a bit. The pink thing stayed like that for a little while before simply replying, "<I don't remember who I am.>"
To this, the gyarados simply rolled her eyes.

"<................ I see...>" commented Bouncy. "<Well... This has been interesting... But you scare me. ONWARD!>"
Lawrance sighed and lookeda the Slowpoke. "Think. Think hard. Think harder than you've ever thought before." said Lawrance. "You'll remember who you are."

The Slowpoke thought for a moment, but didn't succeed. She then looked up at Lawrence quizzically. "<Do ya wanna battle? All the trainers wanna battle...so they can...train to defeat...somebody...>"
