(Yay! My fire pokemon can actually do fire attacks now!)
"Alright, lets see if this works one more time." Faust pulled out yet another empty pokeball from his side, enlarged it and threw it at the knocked out Shinx. The ball bounced off of the pokemon and opened in the air, doing it's job like last time. It fell to the ground after sucking in the Shinx and rolled a few inches coming to the stop. Beads of sweat broke out on Faust's forehead waiting as Jacks slumped his shoulders and breathed raggedly, completely exhausted while he watched the pokeball along with his trainer.

Oh, the pokeball rocked, and rocked, and binged. A capture had occurred. Faust's trusty pokedex beeped, and the stats obligingly scrolled across the screen.
Shinx Level: 6 Gender: Male Attacks: Tackle, Leer Next Level-Up Move: Static Jolt (level 7) Special Ability: Intimidate - When first appearing in battle his frightening appearance makes attacks go down. Personality: Bouncy, exuberant and hyper all rolled up into one blue package. He's ready to do anything, take on anyone. And it's fun. It's really fun. Even when he gets bruised and falls down, 'cause that's fun too, and just part of the experience.

Faust plopped to the ground as he heard bing and wiped more sweat from his head as he raised a hand. The ball jumped up and towards the trainer's hand. He fumbled it for a moment in both hands as he looked at his Charmander with a smile. "Good job Jacks."
Jacks took a deep breath and exhaled. Unexpectedly, a gout of flame came out with the breath, shocking both Faust and Jacks. <Wow..that was pretty cool...> He managed to get out before collasping to the ground like his owner.
"It looks like you can use Ember now, but I don't think you'll be using it for a while." He pulled out Jacks pokeball and pointed it towards the pooped pokemon. "Return." The red light hit Jacks and he was returned to his ball to rest. Placing it back he pulled out the female Shinx's ball and held it up with the male's.
"Alright you two, come on out!" Faust threw both pokeballs into the air as they released the two Shinxs. Both seemed a little dazed from their recent battle. The female looked around for a moment before looking at Faust.
<Wha...I was caught by a complete rookie!? How humiliating!> He turned her head and sniffed. The she looked over to see the other Shinx. <And you got caught by him as well. Urgh, how can this happen to someone like me!?>
The male Shinx jumped up and down repeatedly. <Yaaay! We're on the same team! We're on the same team!>
Faust looked at his two new pokemon and smiled as he took off his pack. "Ok...um...Gwen..." He pointed to the female Shinx. "..Aaaand...Rwen." He pointed to the male Shinx bouncing around like a bouncy ball. "I'm Faust, your new trainer."
Gwen continued to keep her head turned away, but looked up as she pondered her new name. <I...suppose it will do....>
Rwen just kept bouncing. <Yaaay! Rwen! Rwen! Rwen! Rwen!
He pulled out the berry pouch and reached in to grab two Oran berries with another smile. "Here you guys go, this will make you feel better after those intense battles."
Rwen pounced on the berry and gobbled it up quickly while Gwen sniffed it at first with a look of distaste before eating it. The effect of the berries was apparant after only a few moments in which Faust finally got up. "Ok guys, its time to get going I think." He looked around for a moment and then up, to see rays of light breaking through the leaves of the forest with warm smile. This was turning out to be a lucky start after all.

A Pidgy was sitting in a tree over looking them. <So... you got miss Queeny and Mr... Bouncy together....> The bird Pokemon Laughed. <I hope your sanity will last between the two personalities.> The Pokemon then laughed again, showing that she found it rather funny and hilarious all rolled up into one battle.

(Crap, stop making pokemon I want to capture keep appearing before I run out of pokeballs! >.<)
Faust turned his head slightly to see the Pidgy that was laughing at them. He frowned.
Are all the pokemon in the forest like this?
Faust looked down at his two new Shinx's. Rwen wasn't really paying attention at the moment, but Gwen had a vein to match Jacks's when he got riled up on her forehead as she looked up at the bird pokemon, her eye twitching slightly.
<Miss....Queeny!?> She thrusted out her front paw to the side at Rwen as he bounced near her and pushed him to the ground. He blinked twice on his back before he started rolling around on the grass. <Wheeeeee!!!>
<How dare you insult me! Why don't you come down here so I can teach you a lesson, feather brain!> This was going to turn into a fight reeeal fast.
Unfortunatly, Faust had no idea how to stop it. "Now now, Gwen. There is no need to fight. It was just a harmless joke...." He gave a nervous laugh and smile as a giant sweat drop formed on the back of his head.

The Pidgey only laughed at this as well. <You think I will come down there? No way... I know you are stronger then I... I am not stupid.> He was laughing but he had the intelligence in his eyes.

Faust let out a silently sigh of releif while Gwen turned her head to the side. <Hmph. If you know your place then don't speak out of it.> She waited for Faust to tell it to leave already.
Faust was thinking of something else though. He looked up and smiled at the Pidgy. "Hey, why don't you join me? I could really use a flying type."
<Yes, go al-WHAT!?!> Gwen's eyes opened in surprise, then turned to her trainer with a glare as Faust held up his hands in defense and gave a smile. "It would be good have a different variety. He also seems smart."
Gwen sniffed at Faust. <Hmph, You don't need him when you have me....but do whatever you want. I don't care.> The Shinx turned her nose up in the air again in disproval.
The new trainer smiled at Gwen and then at the Pidgy. "So how about it?"

((Well, FF, we've got pidgey and pidgeotto on route 3 in the group two set of routes, and they are waaaaaay more helpful against the grass type and dragon type gyms (pidgeotto learns dragon type moves) than they are against the ice and rock type gyms of the first group. If you're interested in training the pidge bridies perhaps you should catch them there, and just use this one to train against.))
<Kiddo,> the pidgey fixed him with one beady eye, <I'm not stupid enough to battle you now. What makes you think that I'm stupid enough to get captured only to be used to battle other super strong pokemon?>
He flapped his wings, about to take off when a taillow landed on the branch next to him. <Hey, Kaspar. What is this guy doing here? Aren't trainers supposed to be passing through, rather than setting up shop?>
<He's taking the prima donna off our hands,> the pidgey replied.
<Hey, the rattatta'll start coming back, then. They always bring the best berries,> the taillow grinned.
Kaspar winced. <I think you miss understand the relationship they have with those berries. They are bringing them to their homes as food, not as offerings to you. They worked for them, you didn't -- so, stop trying to steal them!>
<Hey, the law of the jungle,> deep blue wings shrugged in the air.
<Does this look like a jungle?! The law of the jungle has them coming after anything with feathers after they meet you,> the pidgey hissed, angrily.
<Aww, c'mon, I'm too cute to resist,> the taillow cheeped mischievously. <Fine, we'll not talk about this in front of the trainer. Hey, human. Are you going to challenge Arisa? You ever had a double battle before?>
<Oh no,> Kaspar shook his head. <I know where this is going. Keep me out of this!>
<Not a chance, pally.>

(I can't help wanting to capture the pokemon I want, especially when they are not evolved yet so I can do that myself. I'll try the Pidgy on Rt3 though.)
The trainer blinked at the newcomer pokemon while Gwen fumed at the two bird pokemon's remarks. Rwen was still rolling around in the grass. <Wheeeeee!>
Faust sratched the back of his head before replying. "Well, no. I mean, I just had my first battle a little while ago..." He trailed off thinking about doing a double battle. It was hard just doing one battle, even harder having another one right after it. Jacks was strong and pretty brave, but he would be too tired to fighter for a while. Which left the two pokemon he just caught.
"What do you two think? Could you do a double battle?"
Rwen stopped rolling around and started jumping up and down again. <Another battle?! Lets do it! A battle! A battle! A battle!>
<A battle? With him on my side?> Gwen pointed a paw at the bouncing little ball of fur. <I could do it by myself if I wanted to.> She turned her head and sniffed pertly, something the Shinx seemed to enjoy doing.

<Oh brother,> Kaspar complained. <They're cats! I didn't want to do this.>
<You'll get over it,> the taillow smirked. He fluttered down from the branch and landed on the ground, Kaspar following reluctantly. <Right, well, at least you're choosing to train two pokemon that could have an advantage against Arisa. When they get to level seven,> the taillow cocked his head to one side, and winked at Gwen. Just to annoy the snooty cat. She was obviously the most easy to put off and distract when it came to battles.
<Let's just go, get beaten, and fly off,> Kaspar sighed resignedly. He thought that he had been smarter than this.
Flapping his wings he quickly began beating up dust from the ground to cover the field in a sand attack. From beyond the flying sand the taillow cackled, and then growled, more of a shrieking cheep than a full throated ror, but hopefully it would be suitable intimidating.

As the two bird pokemon came down to battle, it appeared that Rwen was starting to puff himself out again to appear bigger like before when he fought Jacks. Gwens anger seemed to go away a little when the battle started as well. Of course there were other things to worry about now. Like a sand attack.
Faust covered his eyes as the sand attack hit Gwen and came back towards him. Rwen seemed lesson his intimidation on the pokemon as his ears turned down from the annoying chirping of the Taillow. <Quit it! That is really annoying! Ow, my ears!>
Faust had to think of something fast. "Gwen use Leer on that Pidgy. Rwen, use tackle on the Taillow."
Gwen squinted and blinked a few times trying to get sand out of her eyes and used Leer in what direction she thought the bird pokemon was in while Rwen charged forward to go for the Taillow.

Both Kaspar and his thieving taillow partner had been feeling a little uneasy about attacking the male shinx as soon as they'd seen him step onto the field. Sadly, Kaspar reflected, his great ploy of sand attack didn't lessen the uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach. But that was his friend's problem. His was advancing on him, her eyes and expression even more unsettling than Rwen's.
<Hah! Take this, cat!> he exclaimed, hating the fact that he got so flustered in battle. This was why he had wanted to aviod the fight. However, he managed to pull his act together. The pidgey hopped back a little, before beating his wings and raising a thick twirling gust of air, which raced towards Gwen.
On his right, the peeping growl was cut off by a sharp shriek as Rwen barreled into the taillow. The bird was bowled over, and landed in a clump of grass. A few rustlings and muffled cursings later, the blue bird crawled out of the grass, his feathers severely bedraggled, and grass sticking out from his body at odd angles.
<Oh, now you're gonna get it!> The taillow lifted off, flapping heavily for a few moments, before zooming forward and pecking Rwen on the head -- although lightly. Something told him that he didn't want to make the intimidating blue fuzz ball angry.

Gwen was hit with the gust and sent into the air to come crashing down onto the grass. She got up slowly feeling a little dizzy as Rwen was pecked on the head. <Ow! That hurt!> Rwen seemed to like to state the obvious.
"Rwen use tackle again on the Taillow. Gwen, you use tackle on the Pidgy."
The male Shinx launched himself at the bird pokemon to preform an air born tackle while Gwen shot forward and aimed for the pidgy.

Rwen landed heavily on the bird, bearing the taillow to the ground. Pain crashed through his backbone as he lay stunned for a few seconds. However, soon enough he began to struggle, his wings feebly flapping underneath the light blue paws of the shinx, and his beak trying to stab at Rwen's neck.
Kaspar, instead, had let Gwen hit him back. He tumbled slightly, from the solid hit of the solid animal, but was able to regain his balance quickly. He flapped his wings again, driving air ahead of him in a swirling gust.

(Please excuse any poorness in this post. Not feeling too hot. )Rwen tried to pull his head out of the way of the close ranged peck attack, but recieved a blow to the side of his neck, forcing the male Shinx to jump off and back in pain. Rwen shook it off after a few moments of hard breathing and was ready for a counter attack. Gwen on the other hand was hit with another gust, sending her crashing head over tail backwards yet again. Landing on her back, she rolled to her side dizzly and slowly got to her feet. Like Rwen, it took the female Shinx some time to recover. The good news was that the sand that was messing with her vision seemed to be almost out. Faust decided it was time to change things up. "Rwen, tackle on the Pidgy. Gwen, tackle on the Taillow. Go!" Both Shinxs rushed forward. Midway through the crossed paths, just missed colliding into each other. They closed the gaps quickly between their targets quickly and went for a body hit.

((Sorry about how late this is. Don't know why, but I've been having a block about this post.))
Rwen's blocky shoulder slammed into Kaspar with a meaty thunk. The pidgey's light boned body was knocked into the air. He flipped over once and landed with a flat thunk in the bushes. The bird pokemon just lay there.
To his right, Gwen's agressive tackle hit th taillow. With a pain filled squawk the smaller bird took to the air, and felw behind Gwen before starting to peck.
((Okay, Gwen and Rwen defeated a level 6 pidgey Gwen gains 1 level Gwen is now level 6 Rwen gains 1 level Rwen is now level 7 Rwen learned Static Jolt))

Rwen furrowed his brow and leaned his head in closer towards the downed bird pokemon. It took him a moment to realise he beat it. <Yaaay! We got him! Yes! We got him!> The hyper little fuz ball began to bounce around again.
Gwen was too busy scowling at her unwanted partner to notice the Taillow come back around and deliver a powerfully effective peck the back of the female Shinx's head. Gwen's eyes opened in suprise as she fell forward into the ground, catching the attention of both Rwen and Faust.
"Gwen!" The new trainer called out startled, then quickly turned to his other Shinx. "Rwen, go!"
Without even needing the command, shot forward towards the the downed Gwen and the airborne pokemon and lepted high again, aim to bring the Taillow down with a tackle.

<Akkk!> the taillow barely had time to shriek.
Both pairs of pouncing pokemon were an extremely effective way of silencing the saucy bird. Rwen landed right on the pokemon. Although the situation was familiar before the taillow could peck at Rwen with his beak, Gwen came barreling over the top of his outstretched wings, nearly crushing them underfoot. The pain was so intense that he blacked out.
Faust's pokedex beeped with the good news.
[Your shinx have defeated a level 6 pidgey] [Gwen gains 1 level] [Gwen is now level 7] [Gwen learned Static Jolt] [Rwen gained 1/2 a level] [Rwen is now level 7 1/2]
<I have to say,> said a bush to Faust's right, <that final move was pretty impressive. Double battles always go more quickly when you gang up on one pokemon at a time.>

(Well, I was going to play it out as Gwen KOed (Faust was shouting in alarm), but that works too....)
As the last bird pokemon was down and out, the two pokemon and trainer slumped were they were. Gwen was the worst off, that last peck to the back of her head seemed to of been more powerful then it looked. All four legs under her wobbled slightly keeping up her body. Rwen was a little better off, he finally didn't have the energy to jump up and down anymore. Before Faust say or do anything a voice came out from the brush that startled all three of them.
Faust peered at the bush wearily. "W-Who's there?"

A ledyba fluttered out from underneath the bush, blinking her eyes in the late afternoon sun. "<Oh, just me. I like to watch battles, and see what happens. It's always very interesting to see the outcomes...when certain Pokemon and certain trainers go up against certain wild Pokemon. Or other certain Pokemon and certain trainers. But I wonder what would happen when those same teams, all so successful on this simple route, go up against Miss Arisa?>"
She smiled, buzzing her wings out from underneath her spotted red-and-black shell. Her body seemed to float up to Faust's head. "<So you're a new trainer, too, then.>"
