William looked behind him.... sighing but smiling also... it felt good to be away from his brother and Grandfather... of course his dad was a little foriegn as well, after all he too believed this stuff about Mew and Lugia... great stories... but that was what they were, stories in his mind. I mean the last documented proof of them comes from before the tin tower burned, after that all proof and sightings fell off to one or two a century and those were not enough proof that they still exisited. He abesntly fiddled with a camera, he was not here to take senic pictuers... but battle pictures, he wanted to see how a Pokemon through time, grow and changes in battle tatics and moves. Let my foolish brother chase after things unseen and just wisps of smoke in science. He thought with a huff.
After about some time on the main road, a fence keeping wild Pokemon away from the raod he finally saw it, the lab, a place that he knew he could breath freely, a sturcture that was known at all times, a place of calm in a storm of ideas and insainity, sancuary. With that he picked up his pace and soon was standing in front of the door of the lab. He clears his throat and then knocks with a rap three times, all the exact length and same number of seconds between each rap on the door, he then steps back a proper distance in case the door swung outward, and then... he waited, he most favorite part really of knocking on a door, waiting, not knowing who will answer or if it would be answered, an unknown in a process of known procedur and rythme.

The door swung inward, revealing a bit of an amusing scene. Professor Cherry, an aging man with white, wild hair, was currently wrestling with what seemed to be an over affectionate pair of Ekans. In the background, what seemed to be several different pokemon's calls echoed around the large lab, seemingly cheering the pair of snakes on.
After nearly literally throwing the Ekans into a large cage, the professor took a calming breath, straightened his white lab coat, adjusted his glasses and turned towards the door.
"Ahem. Yes. I assume you to be a starting trainer, here for a starting pokemon to accompany you on your journey, whether it be becoming the champion, a gym leader, or something new and unique." He stated in a dignified english accent, tilting his head slightly into the air. "My name is Professor Cherry, and you are...?"

The kid who was in the middle of being a kid and becomming a young adult smiled back and answered as if answering a question that was put out by a fellow scientist. "My name is William Hamlet, I am here for a starter and new adventures that are the unknown," Will almost said that he wanted to see a little of the world before locking himself up in a lab and conduct experiments and become a scientist... maybe even a Pokemon Professor. All William knew was that he was going to be working in the field of science. He was also a little preplexed about the Ekans. But keepins his own thoghts to himself.

"Yes, William Hamlet, a very dignified name. You sound as if you're one who knows what they are going to do with your life. So I assume that you have some sort of idea as to which pokemon you are going to choose...?" Cherry asked, studying the adolescent before him. A bit of the formality had disappeared from his voice, but he still upheld an air of dignity & elegance.
That was, of course, until one of the Ekans managed to get loose. The snake basically shot off towards the professor, wrapping around his ankle lovingly. Although Professor Cherry tried to discreetly get the snake off, the Ekans merely hissed in contentment. The man sighed, resigning himself to the clingy Ekans' 'wrath'. "Ahem. Please excuse my, erm, enthusiastic Ekans here. Loving pokemon are all very fine, but this particular reptile crossed that line a few miles back. Now, as I was saying, I assume you have a choice in mind. Well, the lab is in the back...yes, come in, come in..." Professor, glancing at the pokemon latched onto his foot, held the door open and ushered William inside.

William smiled and bowed politely, "Thank you Professor Cherry, I most certanly will come in..." He was looking at the Ekens wearly, "I don't mean to sound rude but you remind me of a certain Spearow that my Grandfather had.... would roost in my hair like a tree and would chirp with all lovey tune to it, freaked me out mostly." William stopped then and stood striater then before a little embarrist that he was talking about non formal speak at the moment. "Sir... I would prefer something in the field of electricity... they can be very useful and hold their own very well." Not to mention able to maybe hold off his brother and his bird Pokemon... that is when he comes back from Delmara, come on, why go see someplace that is already so well documented by someone else in the family? He was smiling at how he could hopefully tell his brother just a few choice words about heading and believing in things without having a proper knowledge first.

The Ekans raised his head, and, staring intently at him for a moment, hissed loudly. Cherry cleared his throat. "Ahem...I think he may have taken offence. But don't mind Haru--he's just..." He let his voice trail off, at a loss for what to call the poison pokemon.
"Ah, but yes, electricity. We offer a fair variety of electric pokemon, including Pichu, Mareep and Electrike. Currently, we also have a wild Magnemite who is just about recovered from a bad cold."
((Sorry, short post. For lack of other things to say...))

William nodded his head.... "Ah... but.... err.... To be honest... I am trying to find a notch in the science and am leaning towards a Professorship.... any Pokemon that you wouldn't mind recomending for me to train with? I would like to train Electrike type Pokemon.... but at the same time I fear I may taint my study with preheld notions... I look to you for advice." William's voice was sincere and full of hope.... it seems that he was really wanting to become a professor, but at the moment it seemed all his research hadn't help him much. He had ideas... but no true coviction of sertanty.

"Ah, becoming a professor...I, personally, would suggest an Electrike--Manectric are very loyal and try to help you as much as possible. Or a Pichu, since, as Raichu, they are very powerful and could help in many electrical experiments." The professor recommended, smiling slightly. He was giving the boy as much help as he could right now; as a boy himself, he had never really been partial to the electric element.

William nodded his head, "Yes, A Pichu is a challenge... after all they evolve into Pikachu only when they are trusting enough and like you a lot.... a Pichu accually.... To be honest I was hesident because it had these astricks by the name... as such I would assume that you would have been hesident to hand out a rare Pokmeon to someone." William however stopped and bowed his head a little worried that he had overstepped his bounds, But then he smiled, "Uh.... are people able to understand Pokmeon? or do I need a translater?" William had heard odd stories of regions where trainers could understand the Pokemon while other they had to wish to understand them... very confusing espessially from someone that lives in Kanto.

"Actually, Pichu are a bit rare around these parts...the humidity bugs them to nearly no extent. I wouldn't just hand you one...I'd have to, ah, test you on proper pokemon terms and the such. Standard procedure for the rarer pokemon, sorry." He recited, as if he told a lot of up-and-coming trainers that.
"And you probably would need a translator, but luckily, it's a simple device I usually give out as well. It is basically a pokeball upgrade, so once you catch a pokemon, then you should be able to understand it, unless it speaks very strangely or uses very complex words."

"I thought so, and thank you... I am ready... but yes the humidity around here would bug them.... but give them another hundred years and we may see some adapting to the tempature and humity of the region." He looked excited at the prospect of being tested, "I should warn you... I would delibertly stay after school and test my teachers new tests.... of course I love learning all that I can about Pokemon." He of course covinently forgot to mention that he tried to stay away from the myths of legands of Pokemon, I.E. the Legendaries.

"Still...adapting into what? Would Pichu's fur become even more resistant to the elements? Would it evolve into some sort of electric/water hybrid, just from all of the moisture in the air?" Professor Cherry mused. "Ah, but back to the task at hand. You will answer a short, five-question quiz on Pichu and training in general. Get all five right, you pass and recieve the Pichu. Fail, even one question, and you're free to take almost any other pokemon, but sadly, not the Pichu. As they are rare, we want to make sure they will prosper, as they are already at odds with the weather."

"Of cousre.... bring it on. I am ready." he was indeed looking forward to this. He also loved the odds of it... made him really slow down and going to study each and every question with ease and an open mind, "I am ready." He looked ready and in a strange way... a little like a Professor, a gleem in his eyes ready to show what he knew to a fellow calleuge.

"Alright, first scenario. You have your Pichu, and you are out on Route One. It is an unmercifully humid & hot day, and your Pichu is feeling a bit under the weather. Starting to sneeze, fur matted down with moisture, and small sparks issuing forth from the cheeks every now and then. Without returning it, since it has decided it wants to be out and bond with you, how would you help your pokemon cope a bit more? It is not a serious cold or the flu, just an inconvinience." The Professor turned and grabbed a book as he said this, flipping through the pages casually. The Ekans wrapped around his ankle loosened, slithering up to perch on his shoulder, as if to read over it.
"This is multiple choice." The Professor said suddenly. "Your first choice would be to let your Pichu take a swim in the stream to cool off a bit. The second choice is to get your Pichu into the shade & let it sleep. The third choice is to get the Pichu back into better spirits by letting it battle a wild Ratatta."
((Sorry for the suckiness of that. ._. Braindead, but I think it's a relatively easy questions...^^;; ))

William pondered it for a bit... "Let's see... Personally, it would depend on what the Pichu wanted.... I would let the fellow choose since the only true way for me to understand this fully is to be turned into a Pichu as well." Silently he was belittling himself for not studing the climite better, but he knew that a Pokemon would know better then he would ever at that moment what was best for it. "But if I would have to choose... I would say to have it take a swim, for even if it is humid... the water would be able to cool him or her off." He was now expecting to be deneyed the Pichu... and if so... he would pick the Electrike.

The professor was silent for a moment. He blinked, then opened his mouth to speak. "Any reason or fact supporting your decision to let the little pokemon swim?" he asked slowly. It wasn't quite the answer he was expecting, but this boy seemed to be very intelligent, and Cherry wanted to see if there was any reasoning behind the decision.

"well sir.... if it is hot and sticky out, it would tempoarly ease the annoyance beacause it would be a cool body of water, thus making it feel better for the moment... as for long term relieve... that I am unsure about... but that is just a hypothesis, and only if the Pichu didn't know either, in a case like this, I would allow the Pichu to choose what he or she wanted to do, seeing how I have no way of knowing what they think or how they would react.... that is why I choose to come here, so diffrent then my home...." Along with being kind of far away from those crazy Hamlet's who put some things in front of them that aren't based on facts. A little too relaient on facts, figures and numbers eh?

"Ah...but, as an electric pokemon, they usually don't do too well in large amounts in water. This usually works excellently in battle, but not when relaxing." The Professor said gravely. "I think I'll let it slide, however, since you are new to training, and you supported your decision. I think it might work...if you ever do come upon that situation and decide to do a small experiment, I'd like to see the results." He nodded, tilting his head back slightly in thought.
"Hn...next question...alright? What do Pichu usually eat?"

William smiled, but gravely, "Alas... that knowledge is limited to the Pikachu of Kanto, Jhoto, and Hoann, but I would hope that they eat apples, most berries, and if the Trainer allows, some of their soup.... of course prepackaged Pokechow is know as a diet of trainer's Pichu and other Pokemon... but that their is something else entirly, after all diffrent people produce diffrent types, others make their own chow.... it really depends on the area, for a city Pichu would eat much diffrent things then those found in the wild and paths or routes. BUt mostly apples, and berries." William felt sure... but this was knowledge from more northern regions, "Of course, if their are foods here they eat... I will add that to my data base." he then jokingly points to his head.

"Correct." He smiled slightly. The Ekans draped over his shoulders heaved a great, hissing sigh, finally falling asleep.
"Next question. Hm...What are three primary elements weak against Electric types, and what are three types who have an advantage over the Electric element?"
