"No, technicaly that was their idea, but fine, go Hera!" Rain says, letting out her torchic. "Start with ember!"

The smoochum shrieked as the fire burnt away most of her hair, leaving a lot of her skin with painful burns. She lifted her hand for a Pound, but as she rushed forward, she tripped. The fall slammed her body painfully against the ground, causing twice as much damage through her burn-status.
And then she was knocked out, and promptly carried away by an older smoochum.
Rain's Pokedex beeped. "Your torchic (level 15 1/2) defeated a wild smoochum (level 16). This gives her 1 1/2 levels, bringing her up to level 17. Would you like her to evolve? If you do, would you like to delete a move to make room for Double Kick? If you do not, would you like to delete a move and make room for Peck?"

Rain selects yes for evolution (duh), and replaces Scratch with Double Kick.

Suddenly, another smoochum appears, and glares at Rain. "<I challenge you!>"
((I think I need to think of better intros to wild Pokemon battles. -_-;; ))

(Good thing Rain didn't recall Hera, since she evolved.)
"Okay, Hera use ember!" Rain commands, and the newly-evolved Hera uses ember again.

The smoochum shrieked, but in her mad dash to get away from the fire she managed to avoid a lot of it. Breathing heavily and clutching a large burn wound, she took a deep breath. When she blew out, tiny ice crystals formed, and a gust of wind carried the Powder Snow over to her opponent.
She knew it was stupid...but it was the only long-range attack she knew.

Hera used an ember attack at the same time. I really, really hate ice attacks now Rain thinks. She watches the battle intently, trying to figure out what to do nxt.

((Again, this post is breaking the rules. Not only did you not say that Hera was hurt, but this post is only three sentences long. We've already been over the Fire moves to counteract ice type moves. It's not very effective, and it really doesn't work with the attack icy wind, which attacks from everywhere that there is air, unless Hera's embers have suddenly gained the magical ability to consume all of the air within a ten foot raidus, and then she should be unconcious from lack of oxygen. Please revise.))

The smoochum took this as a good sign. The combusken wasn't actually attacking her...and from the looks of it, was getting overwhelmed by the ice particles. Taking in another deep breath, the baby jynx blew out another Powder Snow.

The snow does hit Hera, but the ice attack shouldn't effect her as much, since she is a fire pokemon. "Okay Hera, use your ember attack again!" Rain commands, trying to decide what to do next. I could use Double Kick, but right now getting at close range might be a bad idea.

The smoochum shrieked as more embers slapped against her skin, causing more burns. If it weren't apparent that she had a skin condition by now...
Shrieking wildly, she ran farther away from the source of the fire, forfeiting the battle. Her hair was already burnt off, and her skin was injured too much for even the magby healers to heal. For this...she needed to ask the twin dragons of the North Tower.
Or so she hoped. She was too blinded by pain to think clearly...
A half-eaten rare candy popped magically appeared in Hera's beak, then disappeared down her throat. So she gained one-half a level anyway.

(Two more levels, and I think I'll leave.)
Rain recalls Hera, and continues on her way.

Meanwhile, a great rumbling shook the Mansion as the baby trio left. All was still for a good, long while...with only some faint battle-related sounds coming from the North Tower and South Basement.
Then, a gulpin slowly emerged, oozing along the rubble-filled floor, drool hanging from his mouth. He stopped, and peered at Hera, a dazed expression on his face.

"A Gulpin? What's next..." Rain mutters, and shrugs. "Hera, use ember!"

The gulpin failed to look surprised when he was cooked with tiny fires, but somehow managed to shake off most of the damage. He then paused, and seemed to forget everything he ever knew. In fact, he was really using the attack Amnesia, powering up his defenses...by using the psychic power produced by forgetting things.
w007 for Amnesia.

"Hera, use ember again!" Rain commands, and Hera blasts the Gulpin with more fire.

The gulpin was effected even less. The only difference he felt was a dull pain all over his body, and that his drool kept evaporating.
He then forgot all of that, and upped his defenses even more with another Amnesia.

The gulpin was hit, and bounced across, it seemed, every single brick outcropping on the broken floor.
He finally landed, rolling over to stare, once again, blankly at Hera. Finally, some more drool came out of his mouth as well. That was a plus.
He then opened his mouth, the drool turning to a thick, toxic sludge. The gaping mouth then spat a large amount of the attack, Sludge, at Hera.
