(Wheee.... SHort. Yeah.)
Nara walked up to the lab, blinking slowly. "How..." She searched for the right word, "troublesome."
She walked up to the door and knocked.
Whoop de do.

((Nice.))
A somewhat strange-looking white-haired man answered the door, looking down at her. An Ekans was wrapped loosely around his neck, another perched on his head. Both snakes stared at her, a bit unnervingly.
"Ah, um, I assume you are a trainer. Well, a trainer-to-be. You have come to this lab to pick up a companion to accompany you on your journey, whatever it may be. My name is Professor Cherry, and you are...?" He let his voice trail off, prompting an introduction from her side as he held the door open for her.

"Nara," she said simply, gazing around the lab. "Hmph."
She held out the phamplet that had the Pokemon choices her mother had forced upon her. "Eh..."

"Well," said the Professor with a touch of impatience, "have you decided? There are lots of Pokemon to chose from."

"Yeah, yeah," she said, looking over the phamplet with a sigh. "It's not you whos life may depend on the lots of Pokemon to choose from."
She knew that was pretty harsh, but she really didn't care. 'Hmmmmm.........Maybe a Caterpie or a Charmander. Charizard can fly me places. Eh, mystery Pokemon? Troublesome. Now I don't know what to do. But it says it's for special people....good. That's gonna make my choice a loooooooooooot easier.'
"What Pokemon do you ahve that are dependable, patient, and I can ride on?"she asked simply.

"Well, if you wanted one large enough to ride on you'd probably need an evolved form, unless I gave you Skarmory, but that one's special, so I really think it would be better if you got a nice Pidgey and evolved it."

"That would be TROUBLESOME. How big are Pidgeotto? Oh right, three foot seven. Hmmm..."
She smirked. Sometimes, her...acute knowledge freaked people out. "Compared to a Skarmory's Five-Foot-Seven...Of course Pidgeot, with a slightly less diverse moveset, gets to be four-foot eleven. And Charizard, widely disputed in competetive battle as it only learns oh-so-many types of moves naturally, grows to Foive foot seven as well. Of course, the Skarmory would probably be youg. Troublesome..."

"Er, yes, quite correct." stammered the Professor. "But now you really should chose. Pidgeotto is probably much faster than Skarmory." he added, hoping the Trainer wouldn't chose the rare Pokemon.

"Hmm...You're right there- Pidgeot can fly at up to Mach-2 speeds. But I wouldn't want to go that fast. And I could impale myself on its wings....I see why you're cautious when giving them out...far to easy for a young trainer to kill him or herself. My my. I sthere any cahnce I can meet the Pokemons?"

"Of course, if that's what what you want. Just give me a moment." That said, the Professor shuffled off to one corner of the lab to retrieve a Pokeball, then to the back to open a small bird cage, and let a brown and tan ball of feathers hop out onto his arm. Walking back to Nara, he placed the Pidgey on the table in front of her, then released the Skarmory. "There now. How's that?"

".....hi," she said, at a complete loss of what to say (the one thing she did lack inw as social skills) hoping she wouldn't alienate either. She DID want to keep her options open.

The Skarmory gave her a bored glance, then seemingly went to sleep. The Pidgey churped happily, and hopped in circled around the Skarmory. "Hello, new person!"

Nara bent down, getting to eye level...mostly. "Mmph. Hello," she said, not sure wether to put her handout or observe the Pidgey from a distence.

The Skarmory opened one eye, snorted, and said, in a clear voice: "The special relativistic "paradox" involving a rapidly rotating disc. Since any radial segment of the disc is perpendicular to the direction of motion, there should be no length contraction of the radius; however, since the circumference of the disc is parallel to the direction of motion, it should contract. If you can explain to me the theory this represents, I may decide you are worth my time." The Pidgey chirped again, then began fluttering around Nara's head. "Hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello, hello!"

Nara sweatdropped. "Well, Professor, if it is not too much to ask, it would be nice to meeat your Rattatta and Totodile," she said, sighing. She also would be curious about teh Ekans, but she didn't want to trouble Professor Cherry anymore. "If it is, I would simply like to know their personalities...any morbid or beserker ones, and I'm fine."
She smirked to herself, observing the two flying types with mild interest. "I have no interest in a smart-aleck Skarmory."

"It's your loss." said the Skarmory before going back to sleep. The Pidgey let out a dissapointed cheep before hopping back into it's cage. "Very well, if you think you would prefer a different Pokemon." said the Professor as her produced two Pokeballs. Releasing the Pokemon, a Rattata and Totodile popped out, and proceded to glare at each other. "You again?" scoffed the Rattata. "I'm surprised some foolhardy trainer hasn't already taken you. "And why that particular choice of words?" growled the Tododile. "Because, " stated the Rattata, " any trainer who chose you would have to be foolhardy." At that, to Tododile looked just about ready to kill the Rattata, but then he noticed Nara. "And I suppose you're the trainer? Rather scrawny, it seems."

She snorted. "Scrawny? Hmph. No wonder you haven't been chosen. Heh. Hmmm...I'll take the Totodile, please," Nara said, making her decision. She knew there were Rattatta on Route One, so she'd catch one there. Though it would be troublesome training the Totodile.

The Totodile blinked in surprise. The Rattata's jaw dropped as well; that blue freak was chosen and not it...? Oh well...there would always be more trainers.
"<You...picked me?>" The Totodile asked, looking caught halfway between asking if it was some sort of joke and rubbing it in the Rattata's furry little face. "<Hm. You're scrawny, but at least you're not too stupid.>" The water pokemon added, regaining it's previous attitude.

"Hmph," Nara said, eying the water type. "Yes. I'm not stupid."
She really didn't have anything to say about the scrawny comment, however.

"<Don't get carried away. I said not too stupid. Jeez, I can't give you too many compliments, otherwise they'll all go straight to your head.>" The Totodile said airily, smirking. The Ratatta gave a snort, rolling its eyes.
