These were the thoughts of a young boy... barely looking any older then ten as he walked down the rocky beach, having gotten off a small raft that he hide in a bend in the coast line, he liked the rocky area of the area, after all, was he really a Castaway when he made the choice to go off wondering, for weren't all Pokemon Trainers castaways in their own ways, away from home, parents and all the safety nets that one grew up on? Then again, was anywhere truly safe when there where people who wanted to use others just for their own gains?
The kid though looking no older then ten, as was mentioned before, had a look of a man contemplating the mysteries of the universe. However, as soon as he entered the small collection of beach side buildings, which put a small smile on his face, as if the place reminded him of some found memory on how they were built and situated. He soon found a sign pointing to different areas of the small collection of huts as he called them.
He looked at the direction of the lab, and smiled at how even here it was given the honor of being the largest building around. He looked then to his left and at the adoption hut. He look left and made mental note of both the Breeding center, a small hut and the way to more of this Island. He was not bothered from the Island's weather but any outside appearance. Although with him only wearing a T-Shirt and jeans, one might call him a tad loopy. He looked at everyone around as they got off small boats along with the shadowy outlines of large cruise ships in the distance, showing that the shoreline was too shallow for large ships to dock, having to sent the passengers, what few there were, by small boats that could carry most likely a maximum of twenty people. He shook his head realizing he was being distracted.
He turned to face the Lab's main door and walked up the small winding path to the door. He saw that another sign was posted next to the lab's door upon reaching it. So, he looked at it, reading what it had to say. He smiled as he realized that it was a list of Starters.
Right away the Numul caught his eye, mainly because he realized that a fire type would allow him to create fire without spending hours rubbing sticks or sticking one stone to another, and fire, in places like this was a very, very important took one needed to survive.
He smiled and without any hesitation he knocked on the door, and waiting, his hands clasped behind his back as he awaited the door to open and the Professor of this place greeted him. Where as a kid his age might be giddy and holding not very still, he held himself like a man of twenty, which was a strange sight... if he wasn't obscured by the fog at the moment.

"Professor" Kauri opened the door slowly, peering at the boy with her dark brown eyes. "Another boy, hm?"
She paused. Her dark brown skin shone a little in the fog, if that was at all possible...possibly from the sweat she'd worked up chasing a bagon earlier. Luckily, that bagon was long gone. The young woman brushed her thick, past-chin-length black hair out of her face, giving the boy a wry smile. "Come in. What sorta Pokemon d'you want, then?"

Robinson nodded his head and unclasped his hand from behind his back. He walked in politely and smiled at the Professor. "A Numel, Professor, sir." He said respectfully, "I would take it, very handy in the chill weather? Though more likely to due ill in the sudden storms that can spring up suddenly in this area of the region no doubt?" He was looking at Kauri and not looking a round his surroundings, doing so would be rude and rather ill mannered for him to do.
"Or.... is your list out of date?" He asked, his voice showing that he was rather use to reading out of date material and information. "If so, may I have a look at what new Pokemon might be included?" The way he talked, it sounded like he was now second guessing his first choice, and the way he did it without noticing, one who studied psychology would tell that he had grown use to mistrusting his first impressions to a dangerous level.
((Just trying out a new character that is all, I am growing rather found of him already... and I assure you, everything up there is IC for Robinson.))

She shook her head. "It should be up-to-date, but if you really care," the professor yawned - it had been a rough night. "I got a call about a second before you knocked, and there's a man with a nincada who was wondering if I wanted 'im. Numel'd probably be better; even in the mist and fog and stuff, he'd probably be okay. Just feed him the right food and vitamins," she yawned again, stretching her dark arms, "if you can manage to afford some. Prices here are super high to foreigners, since the economy is like it is, 'n all." Kauri shrugged again. "Also, you can buy a nincada in this town. Just down the street. Nice guy, breeds nincada. If you really want one, go there after this. You c'n get more choice outta the nincada, too, cuz he's got a bunch."
The woman grabbed a Pokeball, marked with a piece of masking tape with a scribble on it (one would assume it said the equivalent of "numel" in some sort of language), and held it out to Robinson. "D'you wanna meet him, or something? Or do you wanna just take him?"

Robinson smiled and nodded his head. "Yes, it is always good to meet and get to know people who will be spending of each other's time together, only here, one gets to know before hand how they are like, and not find out when all you have is water all around you." He bowed his head. "As for prices, I find most anything high, I prefer to find what I can in the wild." He let out a hallow sounding laugh as if he made a bad joke, and even this died halfway in his throat.

Kauri nodded, opening the Pokeball.
A squat little two-colored camel appeared, eyeing the new arrival with an air of intrique. He had a slow smile on his face, yet appeared sort of intelligent for something with such a dumb-looking face. He blinked slowly, mumbling a few things to Kauri.
Feeling like an abused translator (which she was), Kauri pointed at the numel. "He says you look pleasant, and that he's open to pretty much anything as long as it doesn't involve death and destruction. Or anything emo, I guess. He's a pretty nice guy."

Robinson only laughed. "I assure you, I am nothing compared to my cousin Ravin... he has this habit of saying Nevermore at the end of most of his sentences." He shudders, he also is rather emotional as well."
He was smiling. "You know what, this guy is good, for I am fine with most anything as long as it doesn't promote death or world destruction or take over." He laughed again, something that still sounded hallow and not truly felt. He got down on his knees to look at the Numel. "Your eyes have a nice sparkle of intelligence to them... I think we can get along very nicely."

Kauri smiled. "Great." She reached over to a table, and grabbed a greyish, metallic, flip-cover information storage thing. This, along with the numel's Pokeball, were handed over to Robinson. Kauri jabbed her finger at the object. "That's your sorry excuse for a Pokedex and your account card for your money. You got 5,000 pyen in that account right now - not much, but it's standard, so be happy for that. Basically, all your Pokedex does right now is give you information on your numel, and whatever else you catch and download from your Pokeball. You can get other chips for it, like translators - get this, it'll shave off months of speech pattern study, and a phone...and...stuff."
She shrugged. "Well, that's about it..."
((Statses!
Numel Gender: male Level: 5 Nickname: you choose Ability: Simple - effects from held items and attacks are increased Attacks: Growl, Tackle, Ember Personality: Pretty pleasant guy, if a little slow. He's not stupid, just does things at his own pace. He'll gladly talk with you about whatever, if you can accept the fact that it takes him a little while to get to the point. He accepts everyone - unless they're emo and hate the world. Then he severely dislikes them.
Yays! ^_^))

Robinson smiled. "Thank you... though... I might try and get that translator later... if I get there, I rather just meander around right now." He smiled again and took the items offered to him.
He looked at the account with a look as if that amount was the most he had ever had in his life, but then he shrugged and placed it into his side pouch of his backpack. He then clipped the pokeball of the Numel onto his belt, after he returned the Numel to his ball.
"Thank you again Professor." He bowed his head and turned around, only to have his foot snag the leg of a chair and he went down like a tree. He stayed down for a half a second before pushing himself to his knees and then stood up. He then began to limp to the door, acting like nothing happened, he wasn't even muttering darkly under his breath.

Robinson limped out of the door and into the small assembly of shacks. He looked around before heading to the breeders... he shook his head. Or was it the adoption place? He soon was in front of one of the second larger building and knocked, he smiled because he didn't know where he was, or who would answer it, a small mini adventure for his mind to wonder about. He was hoping that it was a good surprise.

A middle-aged man opened the door, holding his foot in between the door and the doorjam. A nincada scuttled up, trying to run outside, but the foot kept her in. He looked at Robinson. "Here to buy a nincada?"

Robinson only looked at the Pokemon... "Buy? Could I maybe help out with some work and work my way for one?" He felt nervous using money and not skills or bartering to get something he would like, as such, he was odd in asking to work it off, or if that didn't work, ask about bartering. Showing that he was not one who liked money all that much.

The man blinked, wondering if the kid was joking. "Nope. I take money only. If you want cheap Pokemon, catch one yourself."
The nincada, losing interest in trying to burrow through the man's sneakers, scuttled back into the house to play with two other nincada in a game of attempting to dig through the sofa.

Robinson blinked. "Sir... I have spent a long time working for something that I would feel uncomfortable paying with paper... think of it as free work around... I can clean, sweep, mend... and... well, anything you want." He was now hiding the fact that he didn't know the price of the Pokemon...
He also was ignoring the fact that some kind lady, the same lady that he hoped to never see again, had given him those dreaded green paper... along with a pokemon for his protection, a Pokemon that he felt was going to be a big handful.

The man shrugged, and pointed outside. "I don't want you to come inside. How about you look around, and see if you can find dry branches. I need them for beds and stuff."
The man was, as usual, a bit paranoid about letting people who didn't claim they wanted to pay in front in his house with his nincada. He'd had more than a fair few stolen already...

Robinson only nodded his head. "Right away sir." He turned around and began to search for the required items. He was limping still but he was focusing onto the task at head, making him forget briefly the pain in his foot.
Ten minutes later, he was walking rather awkwardly due to the large amount of dry branches that he had found, mainly wedge within and behind rocky areas of high up reaches of the rocky shore... he had spotted more dry branches so he would be making quiet a few more trips. He knocked on the door with his foot.

The man opened it, snatching the wood and throwing it on the sofa (much to the disdain of the four nincada sitting there). One of his breeding female ninjask buzzed over, a bit angry for the violent intrusion.
The man ignored his charges, staring at the potential customer. "Nincada are 2000 pyen. If you want to fork over some money, come in and think of what sort of gender and personality you want. If you still don't want to give me money, go away."

Robinson was taken aback by this man's attitude. However... he didn't want to yet fall onto that Drouzie that as a "Gift" for him. "I guess so, I don't really mind genders, but do you have one that might enjoy the ramblings of a kid who likes to talk so he doesn't go insane?" He asked politely. Refraining from making the comment that he might have more customers if he was more kind to people who knock on his front door.
Of course he didn't know much of this region, all he knew was he drove the Lady at home mad with his strange attitude and had sent him to the nearest region that was offering incentives of being a Pokemon Trainer... a field Robinson saw no real practical use for his future, maybe a farmer, or sailor, or even... a breeder would do well for the Pokemon world, but what use is a Pokemon Trainer? Maybe to keep the more wild Pokemon in Pokeballs and train them... but he had learned that sometimes it just takes an unafraid attitude and resolve to handle a Pokemon that makes them respect him... of course these were all done in his head behind an emotionless face, making him look rather empty headed at the moment.
((He has a flaw of Hamlet.... he thinks too much.))

The man thought for a moment, then leaned behind a tilting bookshelf. He withdrew a placid-looking male nincada, and put him down on the floor in front of Robinson.
The nincada smiled a bit, chittering a sentence or two, then looked up at the breeder to see what the final verdict was.
The breeder shrugged. "He's pretty nice, very understanding, and not very talkative. He listens to everything you say, though, and likes to give advice if needed. Don't think I got anything better than that to fit your description, and he says he wouldn't mind going with you."
