(( A plot would be good)) Jay had been listening as Flash had been healed, he then told Kentaro 'I think I might capture a pokemon before I actually go to the gym, I don't think my pokemon can handle a assault by three pokemon.'
He then began to walk faster trying to think of what pokemon he wanted to capture 'I think I might want to capture a Shroomish, they are quite strong as Brelooms.'

"Yeah," Asako muttered as she let out her Pokemon. She had to jog a bit to catch up with her new traveling partner, but once they reached Route 202, they slowed down. "I kind of want to catch a ralts for...well...I don't know. I just, um, want to."
Kentaro glanced repeatedly at the grass before slowing to a halt.
"What is it, Kentaro?" Asako asked, crouching next to her Pokemon in such a way that her skirt still covered her legs. She decided maybe it was a bad thing to wear her school uniform on the first day of training. "What do you see?"
The torchic narrowed his eyes. He saw something, that was for sure...but what was it?
But then it went away. Kentaro felt a little strange, or something, though. He just stood there, a little unsure of himself. Asako waited by him, and then looked up at Jay. "He looks a little freaked out. I'm going to wait here for a minute...you can go train, I'll still be here."
((And the plot begins!))

((Interesting.))
'What is happening?' Jay asked his newest travling partner as Abra and Jay slowly walked towards Asako and Kentaro wondering exactly what they saw. The tall grass had really been scratching the leg of Jay making it really irritable and he had the weirdest urge to scratch it but he hadn't, he waited for a bit as he finally got to Kentaro.
"What had happened?" Jay said as Abra had been very still observing what exactly had been happening with his pokemon along with Kentaro.

OoC: Goodies. I shall use the as-of-yet-not-completely-made-sister of my dear Gwynne whom was created today. XD
((Name: Marabeth Deflay Age: 15 Hometown: ...Mmm...Everywhere? -part of a traveling circus until recently- Pokemon: Aipom: (f) (Amore) level 5))
BiC: If this was the way traveling was, Marabeth didn't see why the rest of her family insisted that she go off on one. She would have been just as happy to stay with the circus, instead of tramping through grass and who knew what else. She honestly couldn't see what the rest of her family saw in this. Still, for however long the Deflay's could remember, everyone had set off on an 'adventure' at the age of fifteen or sixteen, and returned to the circus sometime in their twenties.
At least she didn't have to get one of those starter pokemon, and could stick with her trusted Amore. Torchick, Mudkip, and Treecko. How drab. None of them had half the talent of her beautiful Aipom. She bet none of them could do backflips and the sort, after all.
The dark haired girl was, after all, an acrobat. A minor magician as well, and she planned on learning more magic tricks on her 'adventure', since she didn't really want to stay an acrobat. She'd leave that to her two sisters and her father. They had the build for it, being on the small side. A smile threatened to cast away the dour expression on her face, before she firmly pushed her mind back into how horrible this all was. Imagine telling Gwynne she was small. That was a sight to witness, and always amusing.
No, Marabeth took after her mother, being tall and not particularily slender. Certiantly not...chubby...But she did have more of a body than most of her family. She had the customary dark hair, of which she cut short to about shoulder length, and her mother's height, already being five foot seven. Her eyes were a dark green color, and she wore the bright colored clothing of her family. Meaning, her shirt was a bright yellow, that being her faviorate color, with dark green ties around the waist the ends of the elbow length sleeves, and reversed pants, being dark green with bright yellow ties around the waist and the ankles. All of this was very baggy, although she'd traded her customary slipper-shoes for a pair of servicable brown tennis shoes. The thought of tramping over this ground in those delicate shoes was enough to make her dour expression blanch.
Amore chuckled at her from a nearby tree, hanging from her tail. She didn't find any trouble with this traveling business, whatever her trainer may be thinking. In fact, from the expression on the young woman's face, Amore was fairly certain she could have killed a bloodthirsty monster at the moment.
Which only made her laugh more.

"I dunno," Asako replied worriedly, rubbing Kentaro's back as if he were a crying toddler. "He just sort of stopped short...I don't know what happened to him."
She waited for a few moments as Kentaro's blank expression began to fade. He looked up at Trainer quizzically, and then peeped happily. He didn't really know what happened...one second he was looking at the bushes, the next Trainer was looking at him as if something had happened. He wanted to tell Trainer that no, he was fine!
Asako smiled, and patted the bird's head, happy he seemed okay. She then looked up as a newcomer in bright clothing (and an angry face) appeared.
Meanwhile, behind the bushes, a small machine beeped, unheard by anybody. A small display read, "transfer complete."

Amore swung down from the tree to land near the Torchik, completely ignorant in what had just happened. After all, she hadn't seen anything, and there was no reason she couldn't be friendly to people, even if Marabeth wasn't. So she chittered to the other pokemon in poketalk, going on and on, half of it intelligible with the speed of her talking. /So anyways she went and got really angry then..../ While Amore blissfully talked to the Torchik, she pointedly ignored the glare directed at her from her trainer.
Marabeth sighed, when it didn't appear as if Amore was going to give up and keep going. It really wasn't that hard to do, was it? But no...The Aipom was chattier than a house full of gossiping maids.
She crossed her arms, taking on a bored (though still angry) expression, although she did /try/ to be civil. "Hullo."

((Name: Sotona Jones Age: 18 Hometown: Saffron City, Kanto Pokemon: Mudkip: (m) (Ant) level 9))
Sotona woke up in the pokemon center of Oldale town feeling utterly -- tired. Refreshed didn't happen until after coffee, and it cetainly didn't happen at any hour before ten in the morning. Especially when she had been kept awake half the night from the sensation of the wetness of her new mudkip's body seeping through the sheets. Guhh.
Still, she was at least a day a head of the other trainers, having caught the early boat from Kanto. She smiled, and lifted the water pokemon off her knees, and held him up to eye level, where he blinked sleepily at her.
"Ready, Ant?" she grinned, "Another day of feirce training awaits us, and we shall prove beyond a doubt that basic stage pokemon are capable of taking down even the highly evolved!" she grinned ambitiously, while Ant just yawned., and tried to go back to sleep in mid air. His trainer was psychotic and a training nut. He was still sore and tired from yesterday.
Sotona climbed out of bed, and took her mudkip to the bathroom so that he could sleep on the sink while she brushed her teeth.
Even though she wasn't usually a morning person, Sotono had felt excited. She had finished her high school education, and had been accepted to Safforn Polytechnic, but now that her high school studies were over she was looking forward to the opportunity to take her gap year and see interesting places.
She had also decided that she would disprove the evoloution obessed scientists of her freshman class, and prove that basic was best. Oh, let the civil engineers keep their magneton, the chemical their weezing, the bio engeneers their eeveelutions, Sotona was going to stick to basic as best. Although she had never been interested in sports in a big way, taking a year off to train always looked good, and if she turned out to be a very good trainer then she might even get a scholarship. As they said on the net: Squeee!
Ant woke up wquickly enough when she gave him a bath in a sink. It was always very important to keep water pokemon wet at least once a day, she knew from her studies. Ant actually en joyed the bath, untill Sotona's fingers began to tickle him underwater as he splashed in the sink. Quickly he jumped out, dripping water, and raced out of te room mischeiviously. Sotona groaned, grabed her belongings and fllowed him, hoping to catch Ant before he got water on something irreplaceable.
So it was that after a quick breakfast in the pokemon center that the two were on Route 202, beating up wurple.
"Makes you almost miss the zigzagoon," Sotona sighed, as Ant smashed into another red bug. She wouldn't catch bug pokemon, because even she realized that except for a few special ones like scyther, bug pokemon were fairly usless unless evolved.
Ant, tired and a little raggedy looking, shrugged, and trotted up to his trainer as she looked around the route for more training "opportunities."
"Oh, drat it! That girl has a torchic!" Sotona exclaimed unhappily. "Those must be the other lab kids, and I've now lost my head start! C'Mon Ant, let's check. If they are, then we're rivals. If not, well, We haven't actually battled another trainer before," her eyes lit with an internal flame and she grinned. "Come on!"
Oh boy, Ant thought, but followed Sotona loyally. Perhaps the pokemon would have a sense of humor, which he'd enjoy.
"Hey, I say, excuse me you all!" Sotona cried out, making Ant wince. Who greeted people as: "you all"?

Asako looked up at the newcomer, gathering up Kentaro in her arms. "Um, hi," she muttered, not exactly in a way that was audible for Sotona to actually hear. But whatever. She was busy focusing on the weird, cluttering, swirling mind that Kentaro suddenly had - did he have a headache or something?
And then...
Nyaa-Neko came down from the sky, inducing...the...almighty...
RP TIME SKIP! OMG!
<INDUCING TIMESKIP>
...I like pie...
<TIMESKIP COMPLETED>
Asako yawned, slowly sitting up in her bed, letting the warm Petalburg morning wash over her milky skin. She peered at the bed beside her, groggily staring at the girl left in her traveling party (the others had long since split off). "Sotona, it's morning," she muttered, still too tired to actually MOVE.
She knew she had to go downstairs to the lobby of the Pokemon Center at some point, which meant that she would have to get dressed and get all her stuff together (which included making Sotona do the same). Kentaro, her torchic, and Matsuka, her poochyena, were probably all healed and ready to go (she assumed Sotona's team was the same way). Plus, she wanted to see if she had enough time to call one of her friends from school, especially Shinji, her "partner in crime" who was currently taking it easy in Violet City.
Of course, "taking it easy" roughly translated to "working at the family restaurant", something that Asako had also spent time doing in order to pay off her tuition during the school year (and something she didn't exactly miss too much). She assumed Haruna, one of her other friends, would be doing this too...and she only had a little time before Shinji and Haruna left for work.
The teenager checked the clock. "Shoot," she muttered in her Fiore accent. "It's too late."

"Late? Wha--? Came the mumbling question from the top bunk, as Sotona tried to stuff her head under her pillow. "I want cof--eeeeee! Ant, what have I told you about touching my feet!"
She sat up instantly, withdrawing her ticklish feet under the covers, as the mudkip waved his wet, cold paw at her and grinned.
"Ohhhhh, I'm gonna -- get back here!" she lunged for the water type, and missed as he jumped for Asako's bed. Sotona rubbed her head against the headboard, and grumbled, before jumping out of bed in her PJs, and saying loudly: "I claim the bathroom!"

Asako blinked blearily as the bathroom door slammed shut. She then looked at the attendant who had just brought up the Pokeballs, gave her the receipt, and left. She blinked again. "Kinda different from Johto."
Sitting down (Sotona took awhile in the bathroom), she grabbed her two Pokeballs, and let them fall to the ground. Her small team appeared, peeping and sniffing in the morning air.
Kentaro, her torchic, had recovered very quickly from his little mishap early on. His feathers were filling out, and they were shiny and orange. His eyes were bright, and his talons had become especially tough during the last few days. He grinned beakily at his trainer, fluffing his feathers and peeping.
Matsuka, her new arrival, yawned. She, like most dark-types, was naturally nocturnal, and had issues adjusting to Asako and Kentaro's daytime routine. Her black fur still looked dull, though all the twigs and dust had been taken out after she had spent her first night in a Pokemon Center, and she lacked the trained luster of Kentaro. She was a sweet girl, though, and looked loyal to a fault in no time at all.
Asako, however, still felt disappointed that she had not been able to find any ralts. Her days of searching had only resulted in accidentally picking up Matsuka (even though Asako felt uncomfortable around dark-types, since they were immune to her so much that she could barley understand them), even though Asako was sure that one would show up eventually. But none did, and Sotona basically told her that if she wouldn't move on she would leave her to travel alone, and Asako didn't want that.
"Ready to leave the city?" Asako asked, staring at the two smaller members of the team. They nodded, Kentaro more enthusiastically than Matsuka, and Asako smiled. Kentaro's enthusiasm made her feel happy and peppy. His mood had improved since that strange incident, but Asako thought it was coincidental. After all, she'd only known him for what, two hours? He was probably just shy before them, and would have naturally come out of his shell anyway.

Sotona came out of the bathroom after having brushed her teeth, still looking tired. "Man. I still can believe the gym here has a badge requirement. That's illegal in Kanto," she commented to Asako, as Ant trotted at her heels. "I personally can't wait to get to the Peatalburg woods. Shroomish and Tailow, it'll be perfect to set up for both the rock gym, and that fighting type gym in Dewford the guy was telling us about last night. Does Matsuka know any dark type attacks, yet?" she asked.

"I don't think so," Asako answered before dashing into the bathroom. A few minutes later she emerged all ready to go, though she still felt not quite as awake as she could.
Her small team hung at her heels, staring up at her. The teenager frowned a bit. The two Pokemon she had were wonderful starters, and she was glad for their pleasant persoanlities, but they weren't all that interesting to hang around. Back at school, her friends certainly had interesting characters (though some were decidedly meaner than Kentaro or Matsuka), and they were interesting to talk to and feel their emotions.
With Kentaro and Matsuka...it had been sort of boring.
She didn't want to give up on them just yet, as they were still fresh out of the wild (or, in Kentaro's case, the lab), but still...they were so boring! In order for anything to happen, Asako had to do all the talking. Kentaro and Matsuka just followed. Asako wanted some arguments, gosh darnit!
Nevertheless, she smiled at Sotona. Maybe the human would provide some much-needed complicated interaction. "Ready to leave? I want to get to the Petalburg Woods soon, too," she explained in her sweet Fiore drawl.
((Blurgh. >_<))

"Yup," Sotona grinned, holding a wet and struggling Ant in her arms, before she kicked the door open, and began to walk down the stairs to the lobby. She turned her head to look back at Asako. "Hey, back when we met -- well, I've got a lab pokemon, and you've got a lab pokemon, and well, that makes us rivals, doesn't it? So, if you like, I'll challenge you to a battle once we get outside, and then make nasty comments about you when you thoroughly trounce me and Ant."

Post by Nyaa-Neko on Jan 18, 2009 21:29:02 GMT -5
Asako frowned. "But you got the water-type, and that gives you the advantage. You'd probably trounce me," she mumbled, brushing her hair out of her eyes as she tried not to trip on Matsuka. It didn't happen that often, since both her pokemon were content to stay behind her when she walked, though sometimes if she stopped or slowed down suddenly, Matsuka would slam into the back of her shins. "It's not usually like in the movies where the one with the type advantage always loses. Besides, I don't really want to make nasty comments. Kentaro might take them personally."
She did take a peek behind her to see what her pokemon's reactions were. Inside, she hoped that Kentaro would take her comment personally, and then convince her to take on Sotona's challenge (or, rather, casual proposition) and let him thoroughly trounce Ant.
But he just stared up at her, blank as a sheet of brand new printer paper. He had a pleasant expression on his face, sure, but nothing more than that. He let out a little peep of indifference when she turned around to look at him, but nothing more than that.
Asako groaned. "Hey, Matsuka," she said, turning to look at her puppy. "Do you want to fight at all? I mean, more than just a wild wurmple, since that's all you've fought since I caught you."
Matsuka glanced over at Kentaro - Asako was unlucky in that the poochyena she caught was a copycat who looked to the dominant pokemon in their "pack" as the example with which to follow. Unfortunately, that example was the personality-less Kentaro. She then turned to Asako, a copied blank-yet-pleasant expression on her face, and gave a bark similar to Kentaro's "peep of indifference".
Their trainer groaned, then looked over at Asako. "I really don't know. I don't know if my team is, um, ready? For a rival...I mean..." She shrugged. "Your call," she muttered, feeling defeated before the journey even started.
