Nur. Not certain if this is where to submit the idea I got while making Robin's character or not, but here we are: A School "Region."
Desipil Academy
Welcome to the Desipil Academy, located on a rocky island just off the Jentan coast. Members of the academy come from all over the world to attend this academic institution. Here they are educated for life in the greater world of pokemon, focusing on the training aspects, but also breeding, contest preparation, and much, much more. Now accepting applications for Level One students.
Rules, Terms, and Stuff to Know:
Basically the academy is a place for those people who's parents don't really want them to face the dangers of a pokemon journey just yet. You enter the accademy as a Level One student. This means that you go to an orientation with everyone else, and are *loaned* a pokemon by the academy to use until you catch your first one in the Trainer Class.
Students in the academy are separated into four levels, based on ability rather than age. All students enter at level one, and then they may raise through the levels if they meet certain requirements with their grades, level of skill, etc. There are some things that are restricted to certain levels, and several things that are covered in each level.
Level One
- You receive a level 10 pokemon loaned to you by the accademy
- You must catch your own pokemon in the wild
- You must receive a 100% on Professor Vervain's type match-up quiz
- You must win a mini-battle with your first pokemon against Professor Vervain
- You must get through Professor Vervain's obstacle course
- You must pass Professor Vervain's basic strategy test
- Your pokemon needs to be raised to level 10
- You must pass the Level One Test
Level Two
- You must Pass Professor Vervain's standard strategy test
- You must have physically caught three pokemon
- You need to raise at least one of your pokemon to level 15
- You must pass the Level Two Test
Level Three
- You must pass Professor Vervain's advanced strategy test
- At least two of your pokemon need to be at level 20
- You must pass the Level Three Test
Level Four
- At least one of your pokemon needs to be level 30
- You must pass the Level Four Test
All most tests have two parts to them, a written part, where you will be presented with questions that your character has to answer, and a practical part, where you face off against a professor and a team of their choosing. The level tests are very much like gym battles, and get progressively harder the higher you advance.
Desipil Academy focuses on its trainer's program, so Professor Vervain's courses and tests are what you need to advance to in levels. However, if you indicate that you are interested in taking the coordinator and/or breeder courses on your application form, you may enter those as well when you have met the requirements for those courses. If you do, there will be additional tests to take when you decide to take your Level Test.
There are many opportunities to train in the gymnasium, where older students are looking to test out newly caught pokemon. Also, when you attend the classes the Professors will often ask you questions, or set you small quizzes to test knowledge. For each answer you get correct you receive a credit. Credits may be exchanged in the school store for items.
You may choose to take your Level Tests at any time, as long as you have met the requirements for your level. Once you Have Passed your Level Four Test you have graduated from the academy, and may transfer your character to other regions in Jenta that strike your fancy.
Sub-board Set Up:
Auditorium - Here is where all of the big announcements, meetings, and presentations are made. Unlike everywhere else this place is only open at certain times, and for certain things. Only mods may create threads here, but you can all reply to them.
Dormitories - There is a girls dormitory, and a boys dormitory, but the hallway between the two is open for co-ed socializing. Come here to chat with your peers when you have nothing else to do.
School Store - Since students are not supposed to have spending money while attending Desipil Academy, there is a credit system in place so that students can buy the items they need for their journeys. Pop in between classes to get pokeballs, level candies, and occasionally a rare TM.
Trainer's Class - This is taught by the sarcastic Professor Vervain, it is he who will teach you the proper methods of capture, escort you out into the wild on field trips, and test you on battle strategy. Professor Vervain is from Miteinjan, and doesn't like people who have a lot of money, or show it off, so be careful about showing him any interesting items that you might receive.
Coordinator's Class - Professor Clover, a multi-ribbon winning coordinator herself, teaches this class about how to effectively put moves together for contests, and the visual aspects as well. She does not allow students in before they have caught their own personal pokemon.
Breeder's Class - Taught by Professor Hazel this class is only open to Level Twos and higher. It is here that you may learn and experiment with advanced breeding methods. While you may keep the eggs that your pokemon produce, or pass them onto younger students the school prefers to donate them to regional professors.
Gymnasium - This is actually held out of doors, in a fenced in enclosure. Professor Vervain is in charge here, as well, and will force both you and your pokemon through obsacle courses to keep in shape. He also presides over all "test" battles, although Professor Clover will often bring her classes down to the gym area so they can practice performing.
Field Work - Professor Vervain's classes often go on field trips to the islands near by the academy, so that he can test their skills outside the class room. Just like in the Auditorium these are seasonal attractions, and only mods may create threads here, although anyone is free to post.
Loaned Pokemon Set-up:
The loaned pokemon that trainers get in the beginning are all normal basic pokies. Just print a number (1-10) on your applicaton, and you get one of the random normal pokies that the school has to offer.
Professorial Profiles:
Cervan Vervain - This sarcastic man hails from Miteinjan. After graduating from University he wanted to go back as the regional Professor. However, Professor Kuari was accepted for the post ahead of him. He's very bitter about it, and although he loves to take classes on field trips to Miteinjan for training purposes, he does not like running into the woman that stole his job.
He's arguably the most active member of the faculty, teaching both his class, and having taken over the gymnasium. Funnily enough, although he does so much he's not much to look at, athletically speaking. He's young, tall and thin, with dark hair, sun browned skin, and glasses. Without those glasses he couldn't see two inches in front of his long nose. He typically wears a sweatshirt and sweatpants, and goes running at five in the morning.
Ines Clover - A happily married mother of three, Professor Clover makes her summer home in Lilycove. She's an accomplished coordinator in the Hoenn style, and is slowly becoming comfortable with the Sinnoh Super Style. She teaches both to her students, depending on level.
Ines is a well rounded woman, with an easy smile and manner about her. She is great friends with the headmaster, Professor Hazel, but doesn't get along with the over active and grumpy Professor Vervain. She tries to wear vibrant saturated colors when she can.
Charlene Hazel - The headmaster of the school, Charlie is an old woman with steel grey hair and a crooked tooth smile. She runs the breeding classes as well as the day to day affairs. Among the small faculty she is well liked and respected. Now approaching sixty, she is beginning to think about retirement.
Application Forms:
Name:
Age:
Hometown:
History: (Try not to make it too angst filled. Most students come from healthy homes, and probably have a bit of money, since this is a boarding school, and the fees are high.)
Personality:
Programs That You Are Interested in:
Loan Number: Choose a number, 1 - 10, to get your random loan pokemon from the school.
Ambitions: (optional)
So, is this okay? Needs some tweaking?
