So yup. I've already started basic design on "region 1" (I'm calling it Tejan for the time being), but I want to know what everybody wants to see in it.
What sort of gyms do you want to see?
What sort of Pokemon do you want to see (in the lab, gyms, routes, cities, etcetera)?
What sort of routes do you want to see (like terrain)?
How many gyms? (Currently, I'm thinking 6 to match Jenta, with 2 Pokemon in each gym.)
What sort of towns do you want to see?
What sort of...anything do you do want to see?

Since we're trying to get the new region set up as quickly as possible, you guys have to participate and give us feed back. Otherwise we're just going to make Tejan without any input.
So, my gym suggestions, in order:
Fire Gym (growlithe, houndour) Normal Gym (meowth, skitty) Water Gym (goldeen, seaking) Grass Gym (parasect, shroomish) Electric Gym (raichu, minun) Dragon Gym (dragonair, shellgon)
I have no opinion on route pokemon, other than there should be at least four different pokemon per route, so that the mods have a variety of pokemon to choose to make appear.
As for the lab, I'm pro the good old RPG starter standby of fire, water, grass, and electric, and normal types. Three of each, maybe, or just one of each, changing when ever someone picks one. For Example: Luke picks a totodile as the water starter. Mel comes up and wants a water starter too, and she gets a squirtle. Marina comes and asks for a water starter and she gets a mudkip. Then Lee gets a piplup, and Fion arrives out of breath to receive a totodile again.
Hmm, well, as for terrain, Since Tejan is supposed to be a new island, or something, it would make sense for there to be a volcano somewhere on it. I picture it being somewhere to the south of Jenta, so it probably doesn't get very cold. It's probably a little like Sankaku, so nice warm summer grasslands would probably be involved. As well as some rocky ground. There would probably be a beach at some point. So my suggestions are:
Volcano Grasslands Rough, rocky ground Beach Pond/lake, possibly?
Got no opinion on Towns.

Sorry, but I have to dissagree with the number of gyms, we should go back to the classic pokemon 8 gyms for this region, and use a varying number of pokemon per gym.
As for gyms (and two or three pokemon suggestions, we could add on later), probably like this:
Normal (Rattata, Sentret, Bidoof, etc.) Fighting (Machop, Meditite, etc.) Grass (Oddish/Gloom (depends on level), Grovile (or however its spelled), etc.) Steel (Magneton, Steelix, Skarmory, etc.) Psychic (Kadabra, Gardevoir, etc.) Eon (Flareon, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon) Flying (Pidgeot, Stararptor (or however its spelled), Swellow, etc.) Ghost (Gengar, Spiritomb, etc.)
Elite 4:
Water (Gyarados, Blastoise, Milotic, Ludicolo, etc.) Fire (Charizard, Infernape, Magmar, etc..) Fighting (Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, Machamp, etc.) Dragon (Dragonite, Salamence, Flygon, Garchomp, Altaria, Kingdra)
And just varying pokemon for the champion.
For lab pokemon, maybe we should have 10 different catagories, each with three or four pokemon, (with the exception of the Eon gym), each for the types of the gyms and the Elite 4, we can still do the whole rarity thing:
Normal:
Sentret Ratatta Bidoof Eevee
Fighting:
Tyrogue Machop (this last one is open)
Grass:
Bulbasaur Chikorita Treecko Turtwig
Steel:
Magnimite Onix (not a steel, but evolves into one, so close enough) Skarmory Bronzor
Psychic:
Abra Ralts (up for addition)
Flying:
Pidgey Tailow Wingull
Ghost:
Ghastly Misdrevaus (again, add one)
Water:
Squirtle Totodile Mudkip Piplup
Fire:
Charmander Cyndaquil Torchic Chimchar
Dragon:
Bagon Dratini Gibble
I agree with MF on the terrain thing, but I want to expand on it. The gyms could be placed in areas of terrain based on their types, and trainers will have to gain access to them through some sort of test, based on that terrain.
Here's some ideas for towns/cities for the gyms:
Normal-Plains Town, situated in the middle of a meadow. (we don't have to do anything with this one, its the first gym, it has to be easy)
Fighting-Arena City, situated in a valley surrounded by tall mountains. To get through the gym, take on a 10-man tournament, healing only halfway through.
Grass-Jungle Deep, situated, as the name suggests, deep in a Jungle. The challenger must make their way through 3 Jungle-based challenges to get to the Gym Leader.
Steel-Islet of Steel (rip off of Legend of Zelda, I know), a small Island off the coast of Tejan dominated by factories. Battle trainers in 5 factories in order to gain access to the gym.
Psychic-Crystal City, a large city in the middle of Tejan. Trainers must climb their way through the Crystal tower past traps and trainers to get to the gym leader.
Eon-Elemental City, a city built at a place where the 4 elements meet: by the sea, where massive winds blow constantly, at the base of a volcano, and a desert. To gain access to the gym, trainers must get a special item from each element, and also defeating its guardian (always a trainer that uses either water, flying, fire, or ground pokemon).
Flying-Skyview City, a city on a cliff. To reach the gym, you actually have to fly not to another city, but up into the atmosphere where the Gym waits, the battles take place on two towers, flying pokemon is highly recomended for this battle.
Ghost-Haunted Village, a small town at the north end of the region that some say is haunted. To reach the gym, you have to make your way through 4 levels of traps and ghost trainers in order to reach the gym leader.
And that's all I got for now.

Oh, I have one more suggestion for one of the regions or both, why don't we try pokemon contests? I have the rules on my site if you want to give it a try.

Please don't double post.
Contests might be good for an "other place", that way you don't have to wait to do them.
Oh, and I had a few ideas...
Instead of having just 8 gyms, how about having a larger number, and you just choose 8 you want to do? We can have multiple gyms in each town, and maybe gyms on routes, too. Of course, you would be advised against doing the first 8, since you wouldn't be able to beat the elite four/champion, but that's up to you.
Also, here's an idea for the lab Pokemon: - 5 fixed Pokemon (always there) - 3 rotating Pokemon (basically the standard starters, but we only ever have 3 Pokemon out of 12 available at once) - 5 randomly generated Pokemon (so they change with each person) - You can pick a letter, and we generate a Pokemon that begins with that letter. The lowest form of it is added to the list of choices (but you don't have to pick it.)

Sorry about that.
Anyway, pretty interesting ideas, Nyaa. Part of this whole thing was that we could, if necessary, include at least one idea from everyone who submitted one somehow.

Without looking at anybody's posts, here are some quick ideas for cities - one for every type:
Normal: A large city, complete with skyscrapers. It is the information capital of Tejan, and the gym is on the eighteenth floor of a rather tall, ornate building in the middle of the city. Other attractions include a breeding building, with over ten different Pokemon to choose from, and a gigantic department store.
Fire: A small town in the foothills of a mountainous area. It's pretty dry there, with little vegetation, which makes it perfect for outdoor fire battles - so the gym has an outdoor arena. There is also a slugma corral (Need a slugma? Take a slugma! Have a slugma? Give a slugma!) and a festival every fall.
Water: A beach town with gym battles fifty meters out into the open ocean. Many people come to get away from it all (and get sunburned), while some come to catch the wild flocks of tentacool and staryu, and some come to buy bred fishy Pokemon of all species.
Grass: An evergreen forest largeish town in a valley. It has almost no natural lighting (as the trees are really tall and leafy), and the gym looks almost the same inside as it does on the outside. There are also tree-climbing tours, tangela-breeders and oddish-bellsprout contests, as well as some fun, eclectic shops.
Psychic: A very small town in the east where everybody knows each other, and they don't let you stay for more than a few weeks unless you either are loved by psychics or are psychic yourself. They only sell abra, the most common of psychics, and they're a bit pricey. The gym is inside a room without any lighting - you need to either be psychic to fight, or have good night-vision.
Bug: A suburbian town-city with a lot of trees and even more bugs. The gym is the leader's rather large house (the south side of this town has some of the most expensive real estate) with the arena in the large backyard. Other attractions include quite a few breeders, many wild caterpillars, and, of course, bug-catching competitions.
Ground: A mining town in the mountains. You can go inside the mines - which go through the mountains to the rock-type city, or fight on the steep mountainside gym arena. You can also buy a few ground-types, catch a few ground-types, or go see one of their earth shows.
Rock: The city that uses the mines as a route to the ground-type town. It's a fairly large city, with stone architecture and an ancient stone gym. There are plenty of geodude breeders (as well as others), a ton of shopping, and the most fashionable people of the region.
Ghost: A bustling city where every other building is a shrine of some sort. There are graveyards everywhere - legend says it's a lucky place to be buried. Ghosts fly around at night (and some crazy ones in the day), and people are okay with that. The gym is in a graveyard, and the breeders are in them, too. Same with a lot of things, actually...
Fighting: A small-ish town in a sort-of forested, mountainous area. There are a few breeders, the gym is a very boring one, and a few shops. The most exciting thing is the town's obsession with garlic, and their garlic festival. So, do you like garlic ice cream?
Electric: Another bustling city in the mountains, complete with a gigantic power plant. The gym has traps inside that shock you, the breeders and shopkeepers like to paralyze you then yell their sales pitch, the laboratory drags you in by siccing their electric-types on you, etcetera, etcetera. Very exciting...!
Ice: A medium-sized town in the north. It snows a lot, and there are ice-scupltures and glass-blowing shops abound. The gym is on a constantly-frozen lake, there are nearby ice caves that are fun to explore, and there is a shopping district.
Poison: A large city with an even larger underground - the gym is in the sewers. People usually wear stylish gas masks for fun, and grimer are currently the most popular pet. Pollution doesn't bother them, and yet they still like bicycles better...they have bike traffic, especially in the shopping malls.
Flying: A town on a mountaintop with very small buildings - people here like the outdoors. The arena is outdoors on the scraggly peak (they like aerial battles), all the shops are open, the restaurants are mostly outdoor seating, the markets are open-air, and the breeders usually keep their charges outside. There are a lot of hiking trails, too.
Dragon: A tiny little town in a rocky mountain lake area. Everybody here tries to look like the "local person", and they really don't like selling dragons to anybody foreign - or even letting you inside the caves or near the lake or saltwater pond to catch them yourself. Not much to do here, really, once you get the badge...because they really want you out.
Steel: A manufacturing city which makes anything metal-related. The gym is just a room in a Pokedex factory, the breeders are all part-time metalworkers, the shops are usually part of a factory, and the Pokemon Center doubles as a parting garage.
Dark: A sunny little town in the mountains...during the day. It's mostly a nocturnal town, with all the nightlife being the normal life. The gyms, shops, and such all open in the evening, and the gym battle itself is fought outside under the spectacular stars. Everybody wears black, but they're all very happy and cheerful about it...

Nyaa, you're amazing when it comes to inventiveness -- but insane when it comes to the amount of work needed ^^.
I find the idea of everyone wearing black in a Dark town a little ridiculous. There are so many lovely dark colors out there, and Black wouldn't blend into the night time if you wanted it too. It's to saturated. Charcoal gray, deep green, navy blue, and deep purple are much more realistic for a dark town -- with a smattering of black.
Love the steel town -- and pokemon center/parking garage. Avatare's Nurse Joy would probably love to go there... ^^
As for the ice town, I just have to say: GLASS BLOWING ROCKS! ((huggles and luffs))
The Electric Town sounds a little, um, dangerous, to enter, though.
You're not fond of fighting types, are you >.> garlic... What, were they attacked by ebil vampires at one point?

I modeled the dark-type people after one of my RL best friends. She dresses emo/all black, but is a very cheerful person. ^_^ And besides, these were "I need an idea in two seconds, I'll put down the first that goes into my head" ideas, anyway, so they aren't always the best...the only ones I thought of for more than a little more than that were dragon and poison, since ideas for them popped into my head during my trip.
The garlic thing was cuz I was hurting for something distinctive, and I remembered the overpopular garlic festival that went on during the weekend that I didn't go to at all. All of NorCal seems to know about it, even though it happens in far-off Gilroy...and we all know how horrible the traffic is. ^_^
The electric town is insane...? ^_^;;;
Steel was random...
Wait...did you want the glass-blowing in the rock city? I just needed something icy in the ice town, and glass popped into my head...in reality, I know nothing about glass-blowing (even though I know people who do it cuz we have a glass-blowing class at my school), so I dunno if you can do it in a cold climate.
Blergh. I most proudest of psychic and dragon, though. ^_^ I always imagined those types and their trainers to be a bit close-minded and picky. And insane. XD

Well, I'm fond of psychics and their trainers (homigosh, maybe that's why Chris is in MoS) but yeah, I'd suspect that psychies are pretty much all insane. You have read Farewell to Order, haven't you? She caused his face to be ripped apart in pretentious displays of power, yayz!
I always thought of dragon trainers -- after GSC -- were kinda obsessed with keeping training in the family/clan, and were a lot closer to being as traditional as possible, and all *very* feudal Japan. Kinda like their mentality is all stuck about ten centuries in the past -- and they were very mistrusting of strangers and people who weren't all that tradition, or way too modernly oriented.
And, um, you kinda misconstrued some of my complements. I love the glass blowing idea. I just love glass blowing as an art, it's so fascinating, and you gave it to the icies, which means that Helen is jumping up and down for joy.
And the Electric town isn't insane. It just sounds a little dangerous to venture into if you're unprepared, since the inhabitants are so very, um, enthusiastic.

Funny - I thought that in this region, the dragon area would have to be in a warm climate, since I always imagined them - the land ones, at least, to be warm-climate reptiles.
Then I was like, "what should my elitist dragon gym leader look like? Oh hey - warm climate with big animals...that sounds like Africa! Did you know that they have an earthworm that's 22 feet long? Wow!...Africa sounds like a fun place to go to if you want to see animals...in Japanese, 'Africa' is imported as 'Afurika'...sounds like a normal word, almost...wait...oh yeah. My leader is going to look African! Yay!"
So I have a younger version of Bahati (or, if you know my Aurora character, one rather like Marjani) or a tougher version of Agatha Kauri (so yes, she's got dark brown skin! BEAT THAT, WHITE EXTREMISTS!), and she's missing her left arm. She got it torn off in a skirmish with a rather angry dragon (I'm thinking either salamence or, most likely, garchomp...dragonsaurs...). And everybody in the town wants to be like her, but with their left arm.
So I dunno how feudal Japan they're gonna be...hrm...I do like the feudal idea, though. -_- Maybe they're all extremely...Shintoist? -_-;;;;;;
But you said "glass-blowing rocks", so I thought you meant rocks...as in...um...rocks that glass-blow...wowwwww, I totally missed that...-_-;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;;

I sometimes abuse the African idea. Same with the Native American. Cuz they're cool cultures, minus the whole European-invasion-beating-them-up thing. Such mean really-dead men...T_T

Beating them up? Our American forefathers committed a genocide on the Native Americans over a longer period of time, and the same sweeping scale as the Holocaust. As for Africa, we're basically responsible for the last 2 hundred years of the slave trade -- indirectly responsible for European colonialism, and now we won't lift a finger to correct the vast and devastating damage that our actions have done to the continent.

I was trying to keep it vague and abstract...since, unfortunately, there are people who don't share my opinions and I, as head admin, should remain the "indifferent authoritative person" to keep it fair.
Even though I think I sort of fail at that.
Although you should know - I actually do try to make NPCs that aren't "European-descent" (Europe doesn't exist here, I would guess, but it has an equivalent) or "caucasian". Lenmana, champion of Jenta, is Native American (or, rather, Native Jentan). Botan and Arisa are "Japanese" (technically from the canon regions) - if you want to be specific, Arisa is half-Japanese and half-Malaysian, but I never really spent much time on that... Bahati is African (technically from around Ethiopia), Shing is Chinese (mainland China, I'm pretty sure), Marisol is Mexican (no, not Spanish, MEXICAN), Ha-Neul is Korean but raised by an Ethiopian, Pierre is French but learned Japanese before he learned English, Matthew is technically three-quarters Iranian and one-quarter Scottish, and Corwin is Australian - not TECHNICALLY Europe - but he's nerdy...
Oh, and Professor Cherry is English, though. But he married a Japanese woman...and their son married a woman from Brazil.
...Did I get 'em all there? By the way, Tejan will follow the same fashion, most probably. Expect even more dark-skinned people (I'm trying to avoid putting paint colors to ethnicities, here) for important Tejan NPCs. It shall be fun!

I would probably bring in one of my favorite characters, and he could originate from there. XD If I played in Tejan. Though I'd probably stick with Jenta. Aye. Mmm...As for my characters, Zach's family are hodge-podges. Mutts. They have so many ancestors that it's practically impossible to determine what they actually are. Most of them are pale skinned, though. Their father is pretty dark, and so is the youngest child. Rii is Hispanic. I actually usually think of most of my characters as Hispanic's, because where I live I'm surrounded by them. There are very few Caucasian people here. I have quite a few characters who're dark skinned...Mentioning my favorite above, who also happens to be blind. He has his trusty Houndour though. Oi, anyways, I thought I would bring in some suggestions. And I'm totally borrowing this one from Mercedes Lackey. MF knows who I'm talking about. XD The grass town, the town should actually be in the trees. Really big trees, and they all live in tree houses' sort of, only it looks really natural. Like it's really hard to even tell there is a town there, because they try not to disturb the enviorment. Yup, MF, Talyedraes inspired. They're my favorite people in her books. ^^ Oi, I had some idea's, but when I got to this point, they all disappeared from my head. I'll be back when I remember them...

Grrr. I dun like the Tayledras so much, you know. They're all too arrogant "whee, we're all powerful mages, you n00bie lozerz, but we shall teach a select few how to be like us too, 'cause we're sweet, charming, all powerful mage warriors with an awesome sense of fashion. Yar." I was fond of Darkwind 'cause he refused to be a "proper" Tayledras, but then he had to take up his magic again grrrrr.... And 'cause the Tayledras use slave labor, 'cause that's what the hertasi are even if they won't admit it! Urtho the Silent literally created a species to obsessively care for his every need -- and they were designed to enjoy it! Was he really all that better than Maar?
So, yeah, I'm all Shin'a'in, since they're waaaaaaay cooler than the poncing Taleydras. ;D
But the Tayledras villiage idea is actually really good, Lee. The nearest parrallels between all of the species that live near Tayledras settlments would be mightyena, stantler, grovyle or treeko, and -- what do you think would represent the birdie-peoplez?

Ahahahaha. True, true. But I still like them. XD You can't change my mind on that fact. They were cool, even if I have to agree with you on pretty much everything you said. Minus Shin'a'in part, since I think Taleydras are better. XD Not that I've read many of the books with the Shin'a'in... ...Um, birds? Kind of see the relation ship between "birdie-peoplez" and "birds"? XD But there should defiantly be a large selection of bird pokemon, even though it is the grass town. I guess that means this could also work for the flying town, if you think about it. Are there any bear-like pokemon? I think those would work pretty well...pineco, because those just fit in with trees. Bug-types galore, but not the type that like the dark. Caterpie/Weedle/Wurmple sort. Happy bugs. Not Paras. XD
