((I caught her for a reason. >) People will have to learn that losing does carry consequences, without me resorting to ambush someone. Iris Flowers are EVIL.))
Ora buzzed her wings experimentally, and then broke the string holding her up with a snap. <Tomas, I'm not certain that catching that mawile was such a bright idea,> she said reprovingly. Her voice had changed yet again, and while it was smooth and melodious it was also deeper, and some how resonated with Tommy's teeth, making them vibrate.
"Er, maybe you're right, but I think once she gets healed up she'll be a tough opponent, and that's the point, isn't it?" Tommy asked, as he checked his pokeballs. Drat it, that had been his one and only great ball. He hope that he didn't run into any group two pokemon that he really wanted to capture. Perhaps the capture of the mawile hadn't been so wise.
Oh well, he still had more pokemon to train, so he might as well go further into the maze. "Go, Kimial!" he commanded, releasing his kecleon. The reptile glared at him when he let him out.
<What do you want, static freak?> Kimial growled.
Tommy backed up a step automatically. "I just thought that you should train."
<Huh,> the kecleon crossed his arms.
<It is easier to change through training, as your level grows,> Ora urged, guessing how to get to the keckleon better than Tommy.
<Well,> Kimial paused. <Maybe.>
Tommy, taking this as rousing encouragement looked around for Sarah. "Hey, where did she go? I hope that we haven't scared her off."

((Ho-hooooo...never thought of that. X3 Oh, this will be great. Unfortunately, Ruin has a bad habit of catching Pokemon that she simply lets rot.))
Sarah finally dug herself out from the ground, and realized she'd gone ahead a bit. Turning around, she smiled sheepishly. "<Sorry about that, I thought you were still walking...>"
Meanwhile, there was a faint shuffling...and a sableye poked her head out of the rocks. She hung back though, a little worried. She just wanted to watch...

"No problem, Miss Sarah!" Tommy replied, because he always looked on the bright side of life. "I was just worried that you might have gotten trampled in the fight that was going on. Oh, and this is Kimial. Kimial, this is Sarah. She's the tour --,"
<She's another boring static,> the kecleon growled angrily. <Now, let's get this pointless training done with, and then get out of here! What was that?> He turned quickly to look into the shadows, seeing nothing.
"Er, I don't think it was anything, Kimial," Tomy said nervously. "Come on, let's get moving."
<Fine, fine,> the green reptile sneered, his eye still scanning the darkness.

Sarah nodded, and brought Tommy up to another fork. She then turned around, and prepared her little speech. "<Okay...so this is another fork, as you can see. It's a simple decision, one goes left and one goes right, and they both slope downwards at the same angle. So, which'll it be?>" Sarah asked cheerfully.
Meanwhile, the sableye just hopped up behind them, not doing much else.

"Um," Tommy said indecisively, "we went left first. Then right. Then down. Then up. Then left again. Or was it right? Um. Well. I think we might as well go--,"
Kimial interrupted: <Look, there is something watching us! I can feel it!>
"Kimial, you're being a little paranoid," Tommy sighed, before he suddenly found his t-shirt grabbed by the irate chameleon, who hoisted himself up to Tommy's level.
<I. Am. A. Kecleon. We. Know. When. We're. Being. Watched.> Kimial said slowly and clearly for the benefit of Tommy's slow, human brain. He hopped down from Tommy's chest, and glared into the gloom. <All right! Show your self!>

The sableye, who was in plain sight, just gave a little head-tilt.
Sarah paused, waiting for the almost-inevitable battle be over so they could move.

"Er, that was a little, um, silly sounding," Tommy ventured.
<Shut it, static!> Kimial growled, knowing that his announcement had been rather anti-climactic. <I'm gonna rip you to shreds, mister.>
He rushed forward, as Tommy yelled: "Wait, he hasn't even done anything!"
<It's creepy and watchin' me, and that's all I need!> the kecleon growled, as he swung his claws at the ghost type in a scratch attack. This was why pokemon needed trainers to help with their battles.

The ghost simply phased through the attack, and didn't attack back. She just scuttled back a ways.
Sarah poked Tommy's ankle. "<I think you should have him do something else...>"

"I think I should have him committed," Tommy muttered, as Kimial swung around, glaring at his trainer.
<Just say it. C'Mon, I want to hear what you had to say, Mr. Wise Guy!> the kecleon yelled.
Tommy backed up a step, nearly tripping over Sarah. "Maybe it wasn't such a good idea to capture a pokemon who bullies me," he whimpered, before gritting his teeth. "I said that you should go appologize, Kimial."
<Appolo-what?!> Kimial shouted, nearly apoplectic.
"Say you're sorry," Tommy rolled his eyes.
Kimial rolled his eyes in response. <Blow that! This static needs to learn who's boss!> He whirled, his long tongue darting out to slap the sableye across the face in a lick attack.

The ghost cringed, freezing up. She hadn't expected such a gross attack! She felt the effects of the saliva ripple through her muscles...and then she realized she couldn't really move.
Ew...
"<Ah! You got her to flinch...good job,>" Sarah piped up.

"Lick makes you flinch?" Tommy asked Sarah, before turning his attention back to the battle, and watching as Kimial darted his tongue out again to slap the sableye across the face. "Kimial, that's gross! Stop attacking it -- her -- um."
Kimial was pawing at his tongue discretely trying to get the taste of dust from the maze off it, however he ignored his trainer. It served the dumb static right.

The sableye froze up again when the second Lick slapped her face, but managed to focus enough to come out of it. She scuttled forward, trying to get a better angle with which to attack. Then she jumped forward, preparing to whip her claws across Kimial's face in a ferocious...scratch...

The two sharp claws ripped through a layer of scales. The sloughed off, leaving bright red streaks which bled sluggishly. Kimial stepped back involuntarily, his eyes threatening to water from the pain. However, he glared at the sable eye, and backed up even further, putting more distance between himself and the ghost type, which he could cross with the use of his lick attack. Speaking of which -- his pale pink tongue shot across the intervening space yet again.

This finally brought the sableye down, and the ghost fizzled through the floor to disappear into a lower tunnel.
Tommy's Pokedex beeped. "Your kecleon has successfully defeated a wild level 8 sableye. Your kecleon gains one level, putting it at level 9."
"<Good job, Mister Tommy!>" Sarah chirped. "<Would you like to continue? It seems as though the battle moved us over to a simple fork. One goes left, one goes right, both slope upwards a little bit.>"

"Well, um, I think we should," Tommy was interrupted as Kimial cracked his knuckles, and then stormed past Tommy.
<We're going up. I don't want to be watched by any more creepy ghost things! It went down, so presumably they're all down there,> the keckleon displayed his stunning skills of logic and began to walk up the slope.

"<Alright!>" Sarah sang before following the kecleon. They passed a few moments in silence before they heard a large burrowing sound...
"<That might be a wild Pokemon, so watch out,>" Sarah advised, wiggling in the ground. "<I think they're coming from in front of us.>"
Sure enough, a dunsparce popped out in front of them. Sarah coughed. "<Not exactly what I was expecting,>" she mumbled, looking away.
The dunsparce glanced around, his blind eyes sort of falling on Tommy. "<Wha'z goin' on?>" he asked sleepily. "<Do I gotta battle somebody? Brin' it awn!>"
It didn't exactly sound very threatening, but at least it meant some experience for Kimial.

To Kimial any experience points were important, and an invitation to battle was like an invitation to a wonderful fancy dinner. He leapt forward, before stopping, and looking back at Tommy. <This one isn't one of those annoying ghosts, is it?>
"Um... I don't think so. The ghost we last saw didn't need to dig," Tommy replied. "But it's not a Kanto pokemon -- or any of the popular foreign ones. I haven't a clue what it is."
<Well, it's good to know that even you don't know why you're carrying around that stupid blue metal encyclopedia,> Kimial sneered.
"Oh! Right," Tommy began to fumble around in his pack. "Right! Um--,"
<Aw fergetit,> Kimial sighed, knowing that any advantage of surprise was lost. He dashed forward, his claws primed as he aimed for an overhand swipe across the much smaller creature's back.
