"Miss Meeeeeel!" Tommy yelled as he ran down the dock outside the pokemon center. "I can't believe you're taking vacation time to see me!"
The somewhat tall young woman was nearly bowled over as Tommy wrapped his arms around her waist in an enthusiastic hug. She only maintained her ballance thanks to the solid bulk of the blastoise behind her.
<Good grief,> Lapis muttered exasperatedly.
The black haired Hologram from Mel's pokedex followed the tutrtle down the gang plank, looking much like any of the other passenger's embarking, except for the fact that his spikey hair did not move with the breeze.
"Tommy hasn't changed, has he?" Chrono asked Lapis quietly, grinning as Mel was nearly danced away, her expression pleading for some help. The holgram waved at his friend cheerily. "Don't forget to write!" he called after her.
<Oh Mew -- why am I not surprised?> Lapis commented, spotting the tyrogue that had piled onto Tommy's back as the fifteen year old danced around, still squeezing the life out of Mel. It figured, a crazy little kid would get, of course, a crazy little pokemon.
Still, this vacation was better than hanging out in Olivine with Chris and his arrogant kadabra. There was too much pokemon related crime in Johto for Mel to ignore and relax, and besides, Chris and Chrono were currently not on speaking terms. The hologram and the human were really good at making the sparks fly.
"So," Mel managed to push Tommy away from herself, ad she straightened her green wind breaker, the solution to Hoenn's intermitant rains. "How've you been? Challenged your first gym leader yet?"
"Nope," Tommy hung his head. "Pai's almost ready but I can't think of another pokemon that I should catch to compliment him."
"Really?" Mel put her arm around his shoulder, her jaket falling open to reveal a plain white t-shirt, her only consession to the fact that she was on vacation, and out of her Ranger's pieced together uniform (she was still wearing the mottled green tear resistant pants and hiking boots), as they began to walk up the rickety port to the pokemon center. "Have you tried catching any at all?"
"Nah, but I'm have good aim, so it's not what you're thinking," Tommy joked.
Mel's expression turned exasperated. "Is there no one who doesn't kid me about that? You're as bad as Chris. It's honestly not my fault, and I've gotten much better!"
"Sure ya have," Tommy mocked good naturedly, as they entered the sliding doors of the Center, only to hear Shing's speech.
"Woah, nice place this Jenta," Mel remarked quietly to Tommy. "I can't imagine Surge, or any of our gym leaders doing something like this. Well, maybe Whitney in Johto, but she's just cheery. Well, go on, aren't you going to pick a number?"
"Er, maybe," Tommy said nervously. He walked forward, with Mel behind him, moral support radiating from her plain body, and sensible clothes.
"Happy Birthday, I'll choose a 2, please," Tommy said.
((Woot for cameos. ^^))
