Welcome to Jenta!
Site News:
School Session Jenta is now entering the sluggish time of the school season, where the admins and mods have to deal with real life and so can't be on regularly. We've had a great summer, and we hope to see you in the winter, when we come back. Hope to see you then!
Foreign Trainers Welcome to Miteinjan. This lovely isolated island has the ideal climate for catching pokemon, and hasn't been disturbed or marred by man for ages. Do come and enjoy the lush plant life, the challenging precipices, and the adventures available in this largely untamed island. - Miteinjan Tourist Bureau and Nishihara Corporation Publication

The day was overcast and Sophie believed it was going into late afternoon. Looking automatically down at her wrist, she felt sheepish - it wasn't there. But she'd spent so long getting used to it being there... it felt uncomfortable. Gently rubbing her wrist, she continued cautiously walking through the thick fog. And, to make matters worse, it was beginning to get windy. Taking off her hat and slipping it into her bag, to stop it blowing away, she pressed weight into her heels, pretending - in her mind - that she was drying not to get blown away.
Hearing the occasional, <Whheeeeee!> from Mattie, she trudged on, muttering stuff to herself. Not really wanting to stop, she exclaimed, "SEE! MAD people talk to themselves! I'm going insane! Soon I'll be hearing voices! L-L-Lo-look! I can see figures in the distance! Something like people moving around! Is this not going to end?!" Sophie exclaimed, tugging at her hair roughly.
<B-But I see them too! Oooh! Maybe they're GHOSTS! Let's go say hi!> Before Sophie could protest, Mattie started running over to them, stopping infront. "OOO! Hello ghosts! Wait... you're not ghosts!>
Hearing this, Sophie gasped. People?! ACTUAL people?! Running over, holding back slightly at the fear of tripping, and looked at them through the fog. Actual people! And a building. She wasn't the only person on this earth and she wasn't going insane! Clapping and jumping up and down, the young girl eagerly was about to step forward when some grabbed her arm and spoke about something, to which she was inclined to look down. At that, she instantly wished she hadn't. Leaping back, Sophie screamed. Legs starting to feel weak, she stood fixed in her position; knees facing each other in that sort of cowardly or I-need-a-pee-NOW pose, while she wrapped her arms around each other. Teeth chattered. But chattering teeth was an under the breath sound compared to the roar of everything else.
In Mattie's curiousity, he also looked down but instead of screaming, he gave an awed expression. <That's a looonnnggg way down!> He exclaimed, hopping up and down as he went back to his trainer's side, looking up at her with eager, excited big black eyes.
"Y-Y-Yes it is..." Sophie shuddered over the roar of the wind, clutching her arms and folding them together, even though it wasn't the wind, fog or wind that was really bugging her. Turning to one of the figures, she shakily spoke, "and how do you get down? Some sort of lift, I hope?"

"Oh yes," the ranger turned toward her, "we have several platforms, depending on the size and weight of any pokemon or back packs," he told Sophie. "You can even stand on some of the larger lifts, but most are about the size of a swing seat, and we strap you in with a separate belt. Then we lower you to the beach below. So," he smiled, "I'm Ranger Ken, and you'll be wanting all of your pokemon out? Just tell us what kind of lift you would like to go down in, and we're get you there. Now -- you could turn the ride into a series of steps, if you like. There are caves all over this cliff face, and we'll drop you off in one for a rest, before continuing down again."

Shuddering, she turned lightly to the ranger, listening to what he said. Casting another glance down, she immediately looked back at Ken. Images flew through her head of her falling off the cliff in so many different ways. As the wind picked up, she tensed, worried the wind would fly her off her feet and off the cliff. So many ways to die....
After gathering herself, she shook her head. "Just the pokemon I have out, please. Oh... and I guess this one." She took a pokeball - Niyae's - and let the poliwag out. After hopping around a bit, he looked up at his owner with those big, adorable eyes, and said, +Pol?+. He had gotten bigger with his levelling up. He was still rather small, but a whole lot bigger than when he hatched.
Squealing in that sort of 'AWWW he's so cute' way, she picked him up and placed him on her shoulder. Of course, she had Anna but putting up with her face... eww. And the fact that she just might take the opportunity of escaping Sophie by hiding in one of the caves or - even worse - leaping off the cliffs.
Sighing, she went over the idea of what swing she'd take, she spoke up. "Urr..." Was all she could say. The little caves seemed interesting; a great chance to catch some pokemon BUT... going down in one big giant swing would get it over and done with."Can I stop at one or two caves and then continue all the way down in one big swing? And I guess I'll t-take a medium swing seeing as I only have two passengers out of their pokeballs?" She shrugged, a bit nervously. To be honest, she didn't really want to go down at all...
((by the way, I think you got my eggs mixed up; my bronze had less days to hatch than my brown one so when you said 15 days, you sorta added on ^^; so I switched it around... ^^;))

((Ooops! Yeah, fix as you will ^^;))
"Just step up here, then," Ken said, leading her to a near elevator. There was room to sit or stand, as well as room enough for the two light pokemon. Ken whipped out a safety harness from the pack on his back, and held it out for Sophie. "If you'll just step into this, Miss, we'll have you down in a jiffy."

Nodding montonely, listening intently, she gulped when it finally came to decision, stiffly following Ken. Getting slowly into the gear, whimpering, she eventually looked over at what she'd have to sit on.
She stared at it, then the slight gap inbetween. Letting out a small scream at the drop, she leapt back a bit, shuddering and looking down at Mattie. He smiled, hopping into it. +Come on, Sophie! It'll be OK!+ He gave her a gigantic grin, as Niyae also followed his older 'brother'. Looking up at Mattie, he cocked his head.
+Aww! cute!+ Mattie giggled, looking down at the poliwag.
Sighing, she carefully stepped in - which took some time as she always jumped back onto the hard ground everytime it jiggled a bit. But, finally, eventually, she managed to sit on it. Even though she was shaking all the way through and her eyes were tight shut. "Nothing to be scared of. Not going to d-die. Not going to.... die....." She kept repeating under her breath as she lifted her pokemon to sit next to her on the left side, and her backpack on the other. She let out another, sharp, but short scream as it moved a bit against the wind and movement.
((Writer's block. AGAIN XP Ugh. Stupid pressure to go to bed D:))

<I really do wish they'd stop screaming,> a spearow said conversationally to another, as they looked over the rim of the nest. <Still, it's useful when you want to find an elevator.>
<Speaking of, I could use a little beach lunch,> his companion replied. <I think I'm going to chance it.>
Below, the rangers were carefully paying out a line that would letSophie get further down, while one, Mary, swung down after her. "It's okay, we're coming up on the cave," Mary said, yanking on the rope. The elevator stopped, swaying slightly, at the lip of a dark cave. "Okay, we'll let out out to stretch," she said, just as a large, feathery object flopped onto the lift.

Whimpering and, close to tears, she just nodded, not trusting herself to speak. Her eyes were squeezed shut and she ignored the chitter chatter of her two pokemon. She could hear the squawking of two spearows but refused to open her eyes to look about.
It would all be over soon... All be over...
But first she had a cave to get into. What if she fell? What if she was too big? And got stuck?!
Just as the fear rose, it came to rough stop and someone was talking to her. Slowly opening her eyes, she could see the cave. Examining it, she noticed that she would be able to fit in it.
"H-How do I get in there t-then?" She asked shakily. Anyone could reach it if they jumped a little but, obviously, Emma didn't want to do that. At that, a large feathery object floated down. "What's this?" She had to raise her quaky voice over the roar of the coast, wind and pokemon.

The spearow's weight made the elevator sway dangerously, and Mary grasped for a rope. "It's just a spearow," the ranger replied, glaring at the bird. He returned her gaze with one intelligent yellow eye. "They land on the elevators a lot. You get used to it. Just shoo him off, and then I'll get you into the cave."

She nodded, quivering. Her cheeks were stained with tears from mainly fear. As she got lowered down, she let out a scream as it started to gently sway.
+It's ok, Sophie. You're not gonna die.+ Mattie assured gently, looking up at his owner.
I could. She figured, always whimpering at the slightest wobble. The girl was shaking all over, from the cold and fear.
Turning to the bird, she shakingly tried to shoo it away. "Go, go away! Shoo." She wasn't the most-intimidating looking person, with her runny nose, red eyes, soaked cheeks and cracked voice but she tried to sound strong.
