Welcome to Jenta!

School Session
Jenta is now entering the sluggish time of the school season, where the admins and mods have to deal with real life and so can't be on regularly. We've had a great summer, and we hope to see you in the winter, when we come back. Hope to see you then!

 Dusty, Musty Old Mansion
« Thread Started on Aug 5, 2009, 8:00pm »

A small bird fluttered through the mansion's crumbled entrance, and hovered around the decreipt mudroom curiously.

<Wow... I'd hate to live here,> she chirped. As she did so, a human followed her through the door, holding a hankercheif over her mouth.

"Of all the places we could be right now, it has to be a sdusty, melly, rotty, moldy old house..." She muttered, and caughed. The pidgey scoffed at her bland-datured trainer.

<Where's your sense of adventure, then? Remember, we came here to catch that steel type everyone's been talking about. So keep focused, you.> She chirped again, and flew down to her favourite perch- her trainer's right shoulder. <C'mon! Get looking!>

Kailee nodded, and caughed again into the hankercheif. Her pokemon's featheres ruffled at the sudden jerk of her shoulders.

Looking around, the trainer noted she had on of three options. Directly in front of her was a staircase, and the mudroom was connected to a hallway, which led to an east and west wing. What had this old mansion been, all those years ago? Glancing both ways, it seemed the hallways led forever. It made her shudder thinking what could be lurking here. She chose the rickety old staircase.

She climbed up, feeling far from 'adventurous.' She was, however, feeling more stuffed up. Never in her life had she been in a building so dusty. Back at home they'd hired a maid to clean the house every week. Each step creaked under her feet, and she could only hope they wouldn't cave in.

When she made it to the top, she heaved a sigh of relief, only to start another caughing fit. Allergies, perhaps. But when she was done, she heard a sound- one neither made by she or Twilly. She paused, listening.

The clank and scrape of something hard hopping across wood happened again. Behind Kailee something hopped forward, stopped, made some movement that involved a hair raising noise, like finger nails on a chalk board, or rusty bits of metal rubbing together.

<So -- what's wrong with her?> each consonant was followed by a sharp click of a door frame connecting with a door. <Hey! I know you can hear me! What's wrong with her? Did the chick get her armor torn off in an accident? Or perhaps it didn't grow on properly? She wasn't kicked out of her nest, was she? I mean, she is small, even for a nestling. What is she? Around level 2?>

(I'm just going to assume this is a scarmory, and post as such. ^^;)

Kailee jumped, and the pokemon on her shoulder fluttered in surprise. The trainer turned around, scowling.

That scowl, however, was whiped away when she got a good look at who she was facing. Some kind of large, metal bird- huge, in fact. Twilly on her shoulder could only have been a fraction of it's size. She staggered back, astonished, not able to reply.

Twilly remained unaffected by the pokemon's sudden appearence. She almost seemed as if she didn't take the larger pokemon's size into acount. She jumped off of Kailee's shoulder, hovering in front of the Scarmory's face angrily.

<What's wrong with me? No, I ask, what's wrong with you? Beaking into other bird's buisness, and so rude about it to. Rude, rude, rude!> With that, she landed on the pokemon's wide beak, giving it a tap on it's armored forehead.

"Twilly! Just shut up, will you? You told me yourself we were searching for a certain steel-type... I think we found it."

Twilly blinked, glancing back down at the pokemon. Yes, it certainly did look like a steel-type... and she'd just noticed the sizze difference, too. She squaked, and flew back to her trainer, landing on her shoulder and shrinking back. Both watched the wild pokemon warily.

((Yar, 'tis thus. I just don't like to say what kind of pokemon it is if it comes from behind a character, because technically, I'd be stealing your ability to turn around and look at it. Fuzzy logic is my friend.))

The scarmory twirled his head to one side, like a noctowl, and then with a scraping of metal pulled his head back to an upright position. <I didn't realize it was rude. I thought your were a chick,> long taloned feet scraped in the dust, splintering the floor boards with a casual ease.

He wasn't quite full size yet, but that only meant that he was a about four and a half feet, give or take a few inches. Still it put the sharp beak at a very uncomfortable level, as on a human at least, there was a lot of squishy special organs there. The eyes that stared out from the visor-like casing on its heat were bright, and lively. The swordlike feathers clanked, as he resettled them neatly on his back.

<I'm just curious, that's all. I haven't seen any humans around since I began nesting here. and most of the other scarmory are older than me, and it's not fun listening to how much I have left to grow. I was hoping your chick was still in the same boat. But she's not, is she?> he sighed.
