School Session Jenta is now entering the sluggish time of the school season, where the admins and mods have to deal with real life and so can't be on regularly. We've had a great summer, and we hope to see you in the winter, when we come back. Hope to see you then!

"Geeze, could we have picked a worse name for the occassion?" Professor Vervain rolled his eyes. "Whatever happened to commencement?"
Ines looked over at him, raising one eyebrow in irritation. "Be quiet, Cervie, Charlene is going to speak to all our new students, isn't it exciting?"
Professor Vervain made a face, but directed his attention on the lit up stage, as Headmaster Hazel took the stage. She smiled at the students filing into the auditorium, and waited for them to settle.
"Welcome to a new year at Desipil Academy. I'm certain that all of our Level Twos, Threes, and Fours have heard this speech before, so just poliely go to sleep while I address the Level Ones, please."
From the back of the auditorium Professor Vervain made a strangled noise that promised death to come swiftly to anyone who dozed off during the speech.
"Now, Desipil is a year 'round boarding school," Professor Hazel continued. "However, at the end of summer we always start off the new year, by accepting new Level Ones into our midst. In a moment our new students will come up on stage and pick up the starters that the school will loan them until they catch their very first pokemon. At that time you are requested to return your starter. However, if you have grown attached to the school provided starter you may negotiate for a chance to capture it for yourself. Talk to Professor Vervain," she flicked a hand toward the corner of the auditorium where the teachers sat.
"As soon as you receive your starters you may head up to the dormitories. There you may chat with your peers until lights out. Tomorrow, please make your way to Professor Vervain's class in a timely manner," this drew a few chuckles from the older students.
"Also happening tomorrow, the school store will be opening. And as the typical start of school welcome you are all give 5 credits to spend as you like.
"Finally, the first field trip of the year is being planned for a few days from now. Professor Vervain has scheduled you to go to Foggy Path for the day. Please don't antagonize the wildlife of the Miteinjan Coast," Professor Hazel requested.
"Now, would the Level Ones come on stage for their starters, please?" she asked, taking a box filled with pokeballs from behind the podium and setting it on a chair.

Though he would rather wait for someone else to get their pokemon, Alex went up first from his side row seat. He's courage had only left him for a while because he wasn't scared now. Actually, he was quite eager to find out what his loan would be.
Standing up on the stage, he said, "Good evening, Ma'am. My name's Alexander Smith. It's an honor to be here." Of course he had no choice but to be here, so why ruining it because of something he couldn't help?

"Good evening," the old woman nodded pleasantly at him. She fished around in the box and came up with a pokeball. This she hadned to the young man. "Here you are. And for being the first volunteer, you get an extra credit. now, you can go to the dormitories, or wait around for your friends to receive their pokemon. Either way," she turned to address the rest of the student body, "Who's next?"

"Thank you ma'am," he said, taking the pokeball in his hand. He decended the steps and sat back down into his seat. What was the point of going to his dorm if no one was there at the moment? He looked at the round object in his hand, wondering who he had just been partnered up with. "Hopefully, we can get along," he whispered to the ball.

Chuckling to himself as the Headmistress made her comment, Elroy turned his head to the source of a guttural noise from the back. He dared not doze, and he was sure that even those 'permitted' would not. Listening politely to Charlene's speech, Elroy scoffed at the fact that he'd have to use a loaner pokemon. Probably wouldn't be pure bred. If he was lucky he'd at least get a good looking one.
School store? Sounds...nice? Miteinjan?! That forsaken wasteland of an island? Ugh...
Sighing raggedly, Elroy watched as another Level One rose from his seat. Not the most well-dressed guy. Rising up as Alexander received his pokeball, he made his way to the stage. Dressed in a thin, long-sleeved white oxford, a black vest, black tie, and white pants and shoes, Elroy had dressed for the occasion. Ghost white beret topping off his ensemble, the Level One was quite pleased with himself. In his hasty packing, Elroy had put away most of his clothes, leaving only a few things left to wear today. Elroy did what he could.
Passing Alexander, he granted the boy a fake smile, rolling his eyes once he had passed. Climbing the few steps to the stage in an excited haste, Elroy found himself before the Headmistress. He knew when to be polite.
"Bonjour...mademoiselle, enchantee!", Elroy greeted, a small chuckle emitted from his mouth, "I am Elroy Guischard. I am so luckee to bee a part ove your academee." His voice was heavily accented as always. Most people loved the accent, though. Lucky him.

Alex follows behind at a reasonable distance, holding her notebook close as she removes a pen from behind her ear. She stands back, waiting for the person in front of her to recieve their pokemon.

Mew strolled towars the Professors. Black hiar with pink and white streaks blew delicately through the wind, If asked wether on not his hair was dyed pink and white, he would respond by explaining that his hair is natuarually black with pink streaks and that the white streaks were died in. Mew wanted his appearance to stick to his name, thus his odd choice of clothing.
Mew had on a pink hat shaped like a mew with a pink shirt on. Over the shirt was a see-through pink jacket. Blue jeans with pink stripes going down them matched his pink and red sneakers. Most people who didn't know him would call him gay. Though he wasn't gay, he didn't like girls, nor did he like guys. He was just...indifferent. Running his hands through his hair, he stopped behind Alex and waited patiently.

Professor Hazel smiled at the young man. She had a suspicion that he would have a rude awakening in the hands of Professor Vervain -- Or maybe Cervan would be the one to be knocked down by the boy. Oh well, the sparks that would likely ensue would make for an entertaining year.
"Welcome to the Academy Mr. Guischard," the proud woman told Elroy. "I hope that your stay proves to be a fruitful one," with this she handed him a pokeball, and then nodded him off the stage.
"Next, Please, ah, hello young miss. My Hellion has told me about you already," Professor Hazel smiled at Alex. "He was the espeon who you saw when you got off the boat. Very well, here is your pokeball," she handed the pokeball to Alex with a warm smile.
"Next please, don't be shy," she told the boy coming up on stage, and handed him his own pokeball. "Welcome to Desipil. I hope you make a lot of good friends and memories here," She told Mew.

Loaned Pokemon: Snubull Name: Vivian Gender: Female Level: 10 Attacks: Tackle, Ice Fang, Tail Whip, Charm Special Ability: Intimidate - Lower's opponent's attack when she enters the arena Personality: Vivian is a guard dog, and she knows it. Despite her pink and frilly appearance she is cold, precise, and champions the idea of military disipline. She dislikes having to guard people that don't live up to her strict standards, but will do so because she has been ordered to.
In Alexandria's Pokeball:
Loaned Pokemon: Jigglypuff Name: Presta Gender: Female Level: 10 Attacks: Growl, Pound, Sing Special Ability: Cute Charm - Might infatuate opponents Personality: Presta is a show-woman. She loves an audience, any audience, and will happily perform tricks, sleight of hand, and sing. Her juggling is fairly good, but the only real skill she has beyond her voice.
In Mew's Pokeball:
Loaned Pokemon: Aipom Name: Grabber Gender: Male Level: 10 Attacks: Scratch, Tail Whip, Sand Attack, Astonish Special Ability: Pick Up - Sometimes finds items on the ground Personality: Grabber is named thusly because he grabs at anything that takes his fancy. Especially if it's shiny. Keep an eye on him, because he can get into a lot of trouble.

Mew just stared at the pokeball. Sure had had pokemon as friends back home, but he never kept them in pokeballs. Well noone in his town ever kept pokemon in pokeballs unless the pokemon were wild anf untamed. "How to I release the pokemon?"he ased blankly.

"Pokemon may be free at all times within and without Desipil Academy," Professor Hazel told the confused young man. "But you have to be able to keep them under control during classes. Free time is your own problem."

((Merci. J'adore Elroy, mais il est...ugh...word for mean...?! Forget it. I'll probably use Elroy to brush up on my French before French 2 this year, but I'll provide translations.))
Smiling at the Headmistress, Elroy made his way from the stage, not permitting Alex a glance. Mew had an interesting style, however. One couldn't help but look at him in his pink splendor. Walking out the auditorium, Elroy looked down at Alexander, his eyes seeming to ask if he would follow. Continuing on his way out of the room, the Level One found himself nearing the professors.
"Professors", Elroy greeted, staring at Professor Vervain with eyes as apathetic as they were scrutinous. Grinning to himself, the teen made pushed open the door of the auditorium, passing from the stuffy room with the odors of several people mixing to form a sort of stench, to a slightly sweeter aroma. Slightly to be stressed. "I wandur 'ow thees schoul weel bee? I weel not keep maa 'opes up...", Elroy muttered, going in search of the talked of dormitories.

Mew sweatdropped. "I didn't mean to say to. Let me reprhase my question. How do you let a pokemon out of a pokeball?"he asked calmly. even though he he was smart, pokemon training and technology for pokeon were Mew's weak points. Fanning himself, the teen waited.

William Hamlet suddenly looked up from making notes of one of the more interesting flowers he had seen during his trip to the academy and as such, realized that he had missed half of the people going up and be presented. Quickly finishing his small personal thoughts on that and why some of the Weedle around swarmed that flower bed. He closed the book quietly and got up, tucking the rather thick book under his arm. He walked to the front and realized that he was going up in one of the lulls of the assembly as new students walked forward. "William Hamlet." he said with a brisk tone of voice, sounding almost like a teacher introducing himself for a job interview. He offered his right hand for a hand shake. "A pleasure to meet the Head Mistress herself."

"Hello William," Professor Hazel said. "Could you please wait one moment," she asked, before turning to Mew again. Picking a pokeball out of the box she held it up so that Mew could see. "Here, when you want to release a pokemon you hit the capture button. That's this little button set in the lip where the pokeball opens," Professor Hazel pointed at the button, and then handed it to William. "You don't come from an area that uses pokeballs, do you? Professor Vervain will be explaining the finer points of pokball useage in your lesson tomorrow."
"Thank you for waiting, dear. When you know something someone doesn't, the teachers here want you to share the knowledge," she smiled at William. "Even we don't know everything. I thought your essay on your educational ambitions was a very good one."

Loaned Pokemon: Zigzagoon Name: Jacks Gender: Male Level: 10 Attacks: Tackle, Growl, Tail Whip, Headbutt Special Ability: Pick Up - Occasionally finds items on the ground Personality: Jacks is a happy pokemon who loves to play games. He'll be happy to chase after bouncing balls, or a Frisbee. He's not very into tense battles, preferring carefree contests where the loser gives up before he has to faint them, because making people faint isn't nice.

Ari was annoyed that she hadn't been able to rise from her seat at the back of the auditorium fast enough to be first. Well, if she couldn't be first, she had believed that she might as well be last. However, she was looking at the box with a worried expression. What if all of the good starters were gone before she got there? She didn't want to be the one to have the refuse. There were still one or two Level Ones left, she guessed, but she should get a starter before they all vanished.
Getting up, she tugged at her skirt to remove any wrinkles, and then walked down the aisle with all the ease she could muster. Reaching the stage she mounted the steps as the Professor spoke to the dye head and the rather nerdy looking boy. Ari sighed, but waited politely. She could wait if she had to.
Finally the old woman beckoned her forward. "Good evening, head master," the young girl said politely, bowing. Formal training in Johto schools left its imprint, despite Ari's Western styled dress.
"Good evening, dear," Professor Hazel nodded, rummaging around, and holding out a pokeball for Ari. "There you go. Next please."
Ari stepped down from the stage, feeling the steel shell of the pokeball. This was it! She was starting the final step of her education today. She grinned.

Loaned Pokemon: Sentret Name: Gray Lady Gender: Female Level: 10 Attacks: Scratch, Foresight, Defense Curl, Quick Attack Special Ability: Run Away - Easily runs from pokemon battles Personality: Gray is a nervous high strung creature. She was bred to be a coordinator's pokemon, but like most normal types that Professor Hazel breeds over the summer she has to do her turn as a new student's pokemon before she can pursue her career. This doesn't stop her from being a bit of a drama queen, though.

Wendy sauntered up with a flip of her layered black hair. She too didn't like going last, but she knew it didn't matter. She would get what she got, and she'd use it to catch something good. The only point this one would serve would be to catch her real first Pokemon.
Then she'd use that Pokemon to beat the you-know-what out of everybody else.
So it really didn't matter...
She smiled at the headmistress and the other teachers, doing a standard deep bow. "Pleased to meet you, I am Wendy Chang," she told them in as smooth a voice as she could. Wendy told herself not to get overconfident...oh, but please! It was just the welcoming assembly! There wasn't much to mess up on.

Professor Hazel Nodded affably at her. "Hello Miss Chang. Here is your school pokemon," she handed Wendy the pokeball. "I hope you do well in your endeavors here."
*This is going to be a loooooong school year,* the headmaster felt Hellion tell her privately, from his napping corner in her office. Charlene winced slightly.
The arrogant espeon usually was good at seeing disasters looming on the horizon. She found that introducing absol breeding lines into 'eon ones produced superior espeons, although the umbreons tended to be a little weird.

Wendy checked the stats she received, and smiled. Good - she'd briefly forgotten that all the loaned Pokemon were normal-types. Growing up in Li Jing, where normal-types were overused, she'd learned more than her fair shair of normal-type techniques. Her rattata's personality was a little...strange, but as long as he did what she told him she didn't care too much.
"Thank you, headmistress," she replied with a bow, taking the Pokeball. She then strode back to her seat, where she began mentally reviewing all she knew about the purple rats.

Carolyn didn't know whether she should go up now or not. She didn't want to be the last person, but on the other hand, being last was as special as being first. The younger girl next to her was already rising from her seat, looking slightly sick with nerves and tension. Carolyn guessed that the girl was a fellow level one. However, even though the girl seemed to be horribly young many of the other new students were around Carolyn's age. She knew that they'd all have to like her, and this meant that she'd have another reliable group of friends and admirers, which was always good. Alright she was going to do it.
She got up from her seat and stepped over the legs of a few of the other trainers. The girl in front of her, Sophie was nearly shaking from excitement. Oh, what would she gt? Maybe a cute pikachu, like the ones back home? Oh. She had to hope. But wait, didn't the school only offer normal types as loans? Sophie sighed to herself as she reached the podium. She hoped it wouldn't be a bidoof, as she smiled tentatively at Professor Hazel.
"Hi, I'm Sophie Dimpa, ma'am," the young girl said excitedly. "I'm really looking forward to my year here."
Professor Hazel smiled as she handed the girl her pokeball. "We're looking forward to having you. But you should head to the dormitories and set your stuff up. Next please."
Sophie hurried out of Carolyn's way, but she looked back to see what the older girl got. Oh this was so exciting! But, well, wait, she didn't even know what she had! Oh, this was scary. She'd release it in the hallway. This was so great!
Carolyn grasped the pokeball that she had been given eagerly. She couldn't wait, either. She was going to take this school by storm. And it was going to be fun. She quickly headed out of the auditorium.

Loaned Pokemon: Eevee Name: Simpre Gender: Male Level: 10 Attacks: Helping Hand, Tackle, Tail Whip, Sand Attack Special Ability: Run Away - It is easy to flee pokemon battles Personality: Simpre is a bit of a cry baby. He adores professor Hazel, his "mommy," and hates the idea that he has to stay away from her even for a few weeks. He whimpers and often will break into tears. It's not that he dislikes other trainers, it's just that they aren't *his* Mommy.

He is convvinced that he is really a teddiursa. One that can sing, ture, but that just means that he's a special teddiursa.
